    I’m terrified of making a bad design choice. So I always appreciate when you are honest about changing your mind about paint colors.

      Tbh I paint almost every room twice 🤷 Thankfully if you do it yourself, paint isn’t tooooo expensive!

    • @starsaint
      @starsaint Місяць тому +7

      I'm convinced I made a mistake with my paint, it's the wrong undertone and sometimes it looks too much like the old coat of paint which I hate. Too yellow. I thought it would not have a yellow undertone to it at all.
      When I raised this issue with the painters they were nice and we ended up doing the second coat with something similar with much less yellow...but it still looks too warm and yellow most times. I didn't want to irritate my partner so I didn't ask them to repaint, as the painters said they would have to redo the primer and then two coats. What do I do 😢

    The red-painted house would drive me crazy, especially considering how you’re redesigning and painting spaces that depend on natural light dictating final decisions. But, you managing this by adding the green window cover helped me understand color theory better. Bravo!! Beautiful work by both of you. I love how well you work together, too.

    I'm going to say this, and some people will think this is a "bad" way, but it's said in a good, totally admirable way: I can see how this guy will be in his 50s. Bc he's already half way there. The dog named Winston. I can imagine him walking a similar dog in his middle age years, rocking the metro facial trim and swept hair do, granny core detailed to the nines with a tweed jacket and cap. And the moody, wood paneled house with the gothic touches and moody paint colors. It's cool when you can see someone's vibe through their future decades. You know the saying of how pets reflect their owners? I dont see it with Winston and him now...but if I imagine him older getting toward Granddad years, it ALL makes sense. Hes got an inner fully developed fine-living granddad inside him who is a lover of antiques and all things with architectural character. Big love ❤. I watch someone else on UA-cam who is like this, addressing all his comments by explaining he's actuall an old man inside who inherited his grandparents love of old craftsmanship & fine chinawear collections, and i wish these two could meet

  • @colleenjohnson4116
    @colleenjohnson4116 Місяць тому +3

    Drew, those orange colored flowers that you used in your floral arrangement are named Milkweed. Monarch butterflies lay their eggs on them. The caterpillars are bright green, they start out very tiny and grow to over an inch. They survive by eating the leaves and you will see full grown Monarchs sipping the nectar. They will eventually get raggedy looking as the caterpillars feed on plant and all the blooms will be eaten too. You’ll just cut the plant back and it will grow again for the next batch of Monarch caterpillars. It’s so cool to see the way they make Pupa, it’s pale green with golden spots on it. This is where the larva will reside until it emerges.

    Within 3 years, I painted our living room 5 times, including sponge painting that needed to be sanded down before I could repaint. It was the mid-1990's so...
    I eventually found the right color and left it alone for 20 years till I was ready to sell that house and needed to neutralize. I'm so thankful to see you make your choices then change your mind because it doesn't give you the feeling that you want. I'm now sitting in the living room of my house that I bought last year and still haven't painted because I'm unsure. You reminded me that "It's just paint." So I think I will prime the walls this week and then get a quart of the two shades that I'm debating. Thanks, Drew.

    Good eye Justin, that piece is everything! Drew, your home looks so inviting and lux and I love that you have curated so many pieces from FB market and thrifting. I love thrift store shopping and have been doing that for years. It’s so interesting to pull together random things to make an entire vibe. I moved from a beach town to a stone mountain house in the mountains of North Carolina full time - and what fun it has been bringing in the antique-academia look to this old 1949 wood walled house. Bringing in natural elements has always been my thing like gnarly branches, rocks, sphagnum moss, fresh greenery from any cool bush outside! Together, it makes for a nice look and it’s inexpensive, just need the vision! As ever, I so enjoy your content!

The tones of the green and brass goes so well with the paint colour you chose and it all flows seamlessly with the rest of the house. The little nook with Winston’s door …. So cute. I love little moments like that in a home. It’s been said by many before and I am echoing it now: this house not only deserves but would grace the pages of any interior design magazine. Love it. Wasn't feeling it at first, but reducing the red tint from the window made it perfect. Thanks Justin for info on hanging a light fixture. You have me thinking I can do it. Beautiful job guys.

    You and Justin have the most AMAZING FB finds! Love how the closet/cased opening turned out! It looks beautiful and purposeful.
    Drew, you have a special talent for blending small closet spaces into the overall home-scape. You have made both your office and Winston’s patio entrance both look like they’ve always been there. Bravo!

    As always, your renovation turned out to be perfection. Love, love the glass candlestick holder. The piece you found on Facebook looks great in that space. Thank you for the tip on getting the candlesticks to stay in place. Your vision is always absolute!!!!

    So that little nook where you put the shelf and the dog door, that would be a great place to put Winston's dog bed and a baby gate for when you're not home, he could lay out of the weather when he wants, you could have his food and drinks outside on the small patio. Perfect in my book. Just a thought. Loved this small make over. ❤❤❤

    It’s perfect. That hall tree has been waiting for years for that space! I love how it compliments everything around it. I even like the flower petals on the hall tree shelf. You embraced the awkwardness of that tiny space & made it beautiful.

    Love the hallway. Didn’t like the dark brown colour. So glad you changed it. I can’t believe how much the red colour from another house shows in your home. All the pieces are wonderful - the ceiling light, the hall tree , the candle holder - beautiful.

    It’s so gorgeous. You put these crazy old pieces like the hall stand up along with plaster paint, and it looks like it was styled by a very classy Spanish nonna generations ago. Lived in, lovely, personal and gorgeous to look at.

    The reflection from the neighbors house is absolutely bizarre. Covering it changes the whole vibe from brothel to soothing. The hall tree is absolutely perfect for that area. I would never have thought it would tie in as well as it does. That’s why I’m not a decorating influencer! Dah Well done again Drew and thank Justin for his good eye on the hall tree. Driving to Granada Hills isn’t that far but the route to get there takes you through every gridlock area of LA, no direct route. Double thanks to Justin for going and getting it. Could have flown to the Bay Area and back in the same amount of time! Enjoyed this makeover. I was cringing while you were painting it the brown color and yelling at the video No No No lol. I’m glad you heard me.
