You are an awesome instructor!!! Your technique is clearly shown, great camera angles, and your verbal instructions are straight forward. I have watched and “liked” many of your videos. Thank you for your efforts. You are making me a better rod builder!!!
Thank you very much Inshore Headshakers. I really appreciate the kind words and support, and I’m glad you enjoy the videos.
@@reelbluecustomrods I’m building my very first rod. It’s a two piece 13’ surf rod for a conventional reel. I have the lower done, and currently working on my reduction guides. So many tips and tricks in your videos have been invaluable to me. Please keep the videos coming!
@@pvancelette - love it and will do. Thanks again.
I enjoyed the video, looking forward to the next one.

Thank you SR, and I appreciate the support. Thank you for watching and Happy New Year.
Great video John I tried that and it came out 👍
Glad to hear it Tom and congratulations. Thank you for watching and commenting, and as always, your continued support.
I like to do it without leaving the tag end out on the left.
I assume the prosses would be the same if you wanted to do a progression of say going from 1,2,3,4, etc. of the blue at the same time as a regression of the black. so you would eventually change over to a blue primary with the black in regression. I hope I made my self-clear.
Yes Jeffrey it would. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thats a cool little burnishing tool, is it made of bone?
Yes it is. It’s made by Flex Coat. Thank you for watching.
Another great video! I save these to my hard drive then I can slow them down if needed to see the detail better. I just got the small CRB CORE rod wrapper and it seems I've been using it backwards with the spool up front. Was annoying me that I couldn't see the tension rod as I wound the thread but now I now why. Do you deliberately have you tension high enough that you have to release the tension by turning the spool every so often and should I be aiming for a tighter wrap? I did a nice sawblade wrap on a practise piece of junk rod late last night only to have the pull through at the end fail and it unwound all over the place. Oh well, tonight I'm going to try a fade wrap with a sawblade wrap just above that to possibly put on my new rod starting from the silver winding check to a hook keeper then maybe a half sawblade on the other side of the keeper for a finish. Just waiting for my 14 spool order of threads to arrive by Friday I hope.
I like to have my tension right tighter when I’m doing inlays and stuff, and then loser when I do long continuous wraps. Thanks again for watching Bill.
Good day John, I am working on a new insure rod for myself! I am trying to recreate your picture used in your thumbnail. i see your pattern started 10 black, 1 metallic blue etc. What was your scheme/number patter to make longer, please. Thank you for your time!
I believe it was 10 to 1 to start the wrap, and in the middle I just got creative, and then repeated it to finish.
Thank you for the information, John I will give it a shot!
@@jscamry - welcome and let me know how it turns out.
I have a quick question. Can you marble a section of a rod that has thread finish already on it? Thread finish is already cured.
Of course. Depending on what type/color of pigment you use, you may not be able to see the threads below it. But that’s ok if that is what you are going for.
Thanks for watching Ron.
@@reelbluecustomrods Just trying to figure out how to cover up a slight mishap. Thank you for the quick response.
@@ronkaiser6414 - no worries and let me know how it goes.
@@reelbluecustomrods Thanks I will.
