Thanks John. I just had a failure with a decal that curled up after putting finish on it. I will take your advice and let it sit 24 hours prior to finishing.

So John for any bulk under raps I use my power wrapped. That includes my guide wraps. I found that it makes things much quicker after using a hand wrapper for many years. But for The Deco part I still leave it on the power rapper but spin it by hand.
@@theduck9939 - that is a great way to do 🦆 and agree that it saves time. I just choose to wrap all my builds by hand for now. Part of the story if you will.
Power wrapper? Lolll. Just got one, and it's been a game changer.
@@scot7619 - no power wrapper for me Scot, but thank you for watching and commenting.
That sure puts the WP (well played) in power wrapper

Instead of a razor blade , try using an exacto knife with a handle.
Hello John, I enjoy your leaf wrap videos. I’m wanting to make a couple ice fishing rods but I can’t find a chart for guide spacing. Any advice for me?
@@JacobWeidle - thank you Jacob and I’m glad you enjoy them. As for the guide spacing, there is a couple options. Depending on the rod length, I would use about five guides and bend the rod to see where you want to place them. I also believe that some of the ice guide kits come with spacing chart, but I cannot remember. Hope this helps.
I learnt how to do tie ends easier now that's what I learnt thankyou, am only new to this and I'm using old rods and stripping them down and replacing the guides atm. Thanks for the tips

Does the color preserver hold the gold leaf down
@@garymiller-ed4bn - not initially Gary. Before I added the gold leaf I applied a coat of gold leaf size and let it try for about 30 minutes. Then applied the gold leaf, and then the next day added some color preserver over the top. Thank you for watching and commenting.

Hey John, really enjoy your videos question why would you put color preserver on the gold leaf? Apologize if you mentioned it and I missed it thank you.
@@Google_Time - great question and I add it to help stick directly down some of the fizzy pieces on the top and to help preserve the color of the gold leaf over time..
