Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

Thanks for the tip on double guide wrapping and the cottons.
Never thought about doing a double overwrap on the guides before. Just finishing off a build at the moment, rebuilt my ZZIPLEX beach caster. Removed the fixed reel seat and changed for a sliding reel seat so I can have the reel near the bottom of the butt section which makes it easier to pendulum cast.
Took all the handles off and used an X-wrap style heat shrink instead.
Added new ZZIPLEX decals and new guides, high gloss rod varnish. Did a blue under-wrap (A) with a white inlay (2 wraps) (A) with a black over-wrap (D).
Will try a double over-wrap on my next build. Just waiting for the CRB drying tent to arrive from France to UK and bought a 100w enclosure heater 230v to pop inside the drying tent. I did look at the one on mudhole but the voltage is wrong for me and it gets quite chilly in my shed during winter even with the wall heater on so I bought this to go in the tent and much better quality than the CRB from mudhole.

Terrific video, thank you. I'm getting ready to redo a couple of old 6'6" rods (25+ years old) from the ground up. I want to match the eye wraps to some others I have. They have a dark blue metalic under wrap (much like what you show) with gold trim bands in the center and on either end. The eye is wrapped with black thread. Seems a simple enough wrap for a first timer. Based on your information and as this is a 40-50lb rod with medium-heavy guides, I'll be double wrapping the black. I do have a question though. I'm trying to pick out the correct metalic threads using pro-wrap. I did some stop frame analysis of your video and it looks like the 'D' size blue metalic has a SKU of RNM-D so I'm at the right color chart. The problem the color chart is terrible, I can't make out any metallics in it. Any chance you know the name of the color??
