Wow
I was thinking, maybe it was worth mentioning that the Hero of Kvatch later become Sheogorath the daedric prince of madness ?
Anyway, great work.
Small correction: the towers that hold the realm are not just the 3 you mentioned. There are also natural towers like the Red Mountain, also every tower has a linked object necessary for it to operate. Like the White-Gold Tower's was the Amulet of Kings now reshaped to that large statue that was left of the Avatar of Akatosh.
Screw Witcher lore, am I right.
@@mohamedsirajeddinemansour that's kind of optional, though.
Oblivion gate opens in black marsh.
Argonians: “looks like meats back on the menu boys”
Lmao! I was just watching that too 💀
Daedra: Oh, shit! *takes Sigil Stone* Close, close, close, close, close!
Mehrunes Dagon (looking at Black March): "F*ck you."
Argonians: "No, F*CK YOU!!!"
Pure fanfiction, not canon. Since Shoddycast screwed up and rolled with that argonian invasion of oblivion popular post series, and did not check their sources now everyone regurgitates whatever that dude posted for the lulz as if it was bethesda canon lore!
@Frencho9 you’re a dark elf aren’t ya?
The Argonians taking the fight directly through an Oblivion Gate is one of the most badass things I’ve heard from Elder Scrolls.
Those tree steroids are no joke lol
The Thalmor Ambassador tipping a cart of Blades members heads at the emperor’s feet before doing the Orange Justice is a pretty badass moment
That hist sap is one HELLUVA combat cocktail!
"In the city of kvatch lived a man named Sean bean, a priest of the nine divines"
"He dies"
The first time I played Oblivion, I didn't know that was Sean Bean's voice. I only knew I loved Martin Septim. So it hit hard when he died. THEN I found out it was Sean Bean, and I thought, "DAMMIT! HE DOESN'T EVEN GET TO LIVE IN A VIDEO GAME!!!"

I think my favorite lore of Elder Scrolls is that the Argonians were so vicious and intense in the defense of their land that the immortal Daedra decided that they were too hardcore for them and closed their portals to avoid getting counter-invaded.
To be fair, the only source we have for that claim is the An-Xileel, an Argonian ethnonationalist group who claim to be the ones who lead the charge against Dagon's forces. It's possible that they may have somewhat exaggerated their success for the sake of propaganda. The Daedra may just have regarded Black Marsh as a low-value target that they didn't want to pour too many resources into and pulled out when it was too much of a hassle.
@@kiptheott Even if it's propaganda that is still great lore it's really badass and effective because neither of the great powers is fucking with the lizards nor are their rivals in the north seeking retaliation...Everyone leaves them alone which would be the goal for such an ethnonationalist group.
However I'm inclined to believe the Argonians...Because of three reasons. 1. They're created, bred and guided by Sentient Tree Gods beings that have real tangible power. 2. They live in the most uninhabitable and toxic land within the series showcasing their natrual endurance in the face of danger and hardship. 3. Because this is the Elder Scrolls universe that has way way more wacky unbelievable shite happen within it.
Didn't they even invade Oblivion?
@@maxgrozema1093 they did.
@@kiptheott Yeah, it could be a parallel to the Thalmor, and they're simply taking credit for Martin's feat of ending the Crisis.
I care not that everyone in Oblivion looks like a misshapen potato. It remains one of my favorite games ever.
Great video, can't believe you left out the part where the Hero of Kvatch wasted weeks doing sidequests and exploring dungeons until they became the head of every guild on the continent.
Have you heard of the High Elves....
I recently replayed it, and I was really worried that it would feel dated. The last time I played it was at least half a decade ago so I really had low expectations. It blew me away. Oblivion is a timeless masterpiece.
I guess I never got it. I had played morrowind first and felt like oblivion was lacking. The map seemed really small and I felt they were trying to make up for it with the oblivion plane. All the portal worlds felt really bare bones creativity wise of course I never finished the game, maybe they got better. Also hated the redundancy of going into them over and over.
@@Stickyrolls123 Yeah, fair enough. The planes were my least favorite part of the game. Though the ending was in my opinion great, and (spoilers) the plane battle at Bruma felt absolutely awesome
@@Stickyrolls123 I've heard from lots of people who played morrowind first and then couldn't enjoy oblivion. I played oblivion first and could never get into morrowind.
Personally I remember the battle of Bruma being fought by like, 7 guys.
I know right? Even the battle of Helm’s Deep doesn’t even compare to the glorious victory Emperor Martin Septim achieved at Bruma that day😤🔥
thats way too low. it was more like 9
😂😂😂
Yeah cuz engine limitations maybe tes 6 will be great i hope
Kvatch - 1
Chorrol - 2
Anvil - 2
Cheydinhal - 2 (or 1)
Leyawiin - 1 (0 if Viera is dead)
Bravil - 1
Skingrad - 1
Bruma - 3
Blades - 3 (includes protagonist)
Septim - 1
But before the nameless hero closed all Oblivion Gates he was set for an even greater quest: joining the dark brotherhood so he can finally kill that mad talking brat of a Dunmer in the imperial prison!
Death to that so called brotherhood, long live the Empire!
That’s right!!!
13:17 The White-Gold Tower is in the Imperial City in Cyrodiil.
The Direnni/Adamantine Tower is the one in High Rock
And the Crystal like Law is in North-Central Alinor (The Island not the City)
Was hoping someone would point that out
And the lore of Bethesda games is in the toilet.
Actually it's Ada-Mantia
As a teenager, I remember the epic and sad moment of Martin's last sacrifice to stop Dagon. One of the most epic moments I've seen in a videogame, with gods literally clashing in a mortal realm. Despite it's flaws, Oblivion remains as one of my favourite pieces.
Oblivion Crisis starts
Cyrodiil: AHHH Why is everything on fire?!
Summerset Isles: Tower Defence on Expert difficulty
Morrowind: c r a b
Black Marsh: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE, WE GOT FUN AND GAMES
Argonians so badass that they didn't a hero to save them. Made the Daedra give up and close their own gate.
And yet still get enslaved by dunmer for centuries. Whaaa
@@W0KeIzEvil yep all it took was a apocalyptic event that devastated the entire region for them to gather up the balls to do something. Good jobs guys
@@kieranklein2527 beating the Tribunal isn't something lizard folks could do, let alone some trees that can do much other than foresight and healthboosts.
@@khalee95 exactly my point. The lizard folk arent badass. Kinda weak sauce really
@@kieranklein2527 Considering that the Dunmer needed literal living Gods to even have an advantage over the argonians, and they got bodied the second they were gone i'd say that the argonians are badass.
Great job, as always! But I feel like this documentary glosses over probably the most important event of the war.
The bounty that was put on the Hero of Kvatch's head after they accidentally hit someone in the midst of one of the battles. Even despite all the apocalyptic chaos that was raging all around, it is comforting to know that the Imperial justice system continued to function like a well-oiled inescapable machine.
It was also reassuring to know that even a direct agent of Emperor Martin, the Hero of Kvatch themself, was not above the law during a literal crisis and would be punished to the greatest extent allowed, that being death, for accidentally picking up that clay cup while shopping for equipment. Messengers were sent out to every city across all of Tamriel so that such criminal scum would not escape justice.
Tamriel can never take a break from all these crises.

In the Oblivion Crisis, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one people stood. Burned by the embers of Oblivion, their souls blistered by the fires of Dagon and tainted beyond ascension, they chose the path of perpetual torment. In their ravenous hatred they found no peace; and with boiling blood they scoured the the realm of Oblivion seeking vengeance against the dark Deadra who had wronged Tamriel and the Black Marsh. They drank the sap from the Hist, and those that tasted the bite of their teeth called them... the Argonians.
Pure fanfiction, not canon. Since Shoddycast screwed up and rolled with that argonian invasion of oblivion popular post series, and did not check their sources now everyone regurgitates whatever that dude posted for the lulz as if it was bethesda canon lore!
@@Frencho9 who gives a fuck it’s cool and makes argonians more interesting
Tbh the Redoran story is pretty great too. Fought the entire invasion to a standstill with an undead giant mudcrab until their house nearly went extinct from the casualties
I love the fact that the argonians literally invaded Oblivion forcing Dagon to close the portal there and just divert those forces to other regions
Please keep making these elder scrolls videos, they’re incredible. Because of “Dragon Breaks” a concept in the lore all outcomes of things like civil war of Skyrim are simultaneously cannon, the open ended nature of events in an RPG is daunting for videos like this but you could cover these events by explaining both possible outcomes. Hope this helps you create more excellent content like this.
Do we know that the civil war will be a dragon break. They tend to not want to use it that often.
@@lucius5787 In the lore every time a player character enters the world a dragon break occurs, that’s always the canon explanation for all the conflicting endings of each game. The concept was invented to explain this so certainly the civil war and and all other events like the dark brotherhood quest line will be encompassed in the dragon break there occurred during Skyrim.
Mehrunes Dagon: Invades Tamriel
Argonians: It's Free Real Estate.
Bethesda nailed it with both OBLIVION and FALLOUT 3. I have spent many hours playing as an Argonian, and trust me, the water breathing ability comes in quite handy.
Fallout 3 was quite disappointing to me...Then again I had been an avid Fallout fan since the original. When I first saw it, I really just thought "oh, it's Oblivion with guns." It wasn't a bad game, but Bethesda Fallout is not the same as Interplay Fallout.
We went from a grim post-apocalyptic RPG with serious moral quandaries (and a nasty difficulty curve) to a quirky first-person game on an engine clearly not designed for FPS mechanics with an "easy mode" that allows you to stop combat at will to compensate for its flaws...all the while blaring music from the 1940s and 50s on the radio.
I remember feeling that the game's ambiance was completely off.
And while I loved New Vegas because Chris Avellone got his hands on his old franchise again and managed to sneak in a lot of the story for the cancelled Fallout 3 in it (and better shooting mechanics thanks to actually having sights), it still doesn't truly feel like Fallout should be.
My nostalgia is running so hawt. I've been playing the Elder Scrolls games since the very first one.
Thanks for the lore documentary. I never get enough of all the awesome fan made content based on the Elder Scrolls.
Man what happened to Uriel feels like what happened to Aurellian. Couldn't be trusted around advisors who decided to off him instead and doomed themselves.
imagine if Rome had an oblivion crisis oh man
@@Софија-крафт it did technically, if you consider the goths and other germanic tribes as dremora
I love how the Argonians decided to pull out a uno reverse card and counter-invade the Deadric realm.
This is honestly the best channel I’ve ever seen. This video has all the excitement of playing the actual game. Thank you so much.
I'm so glad this channel exists! Amazing video, I'm looking forward to many more!
Honestly, i just started replaying skyrim. One of my goals was to read as many of the books in-game as possible, to delve into the lore & see how it relates to the events in oblivion
So its a nice surprise seeing Kings & Generals have such a thorough explanation of Elder Scrolls lore like its all a true story. Honestly, amazing. Hats off to you my friend
Series Recommendation: “Dragon Age”
Great games and there’s tons of lore books and stuff online to tell you all you need to know for forming one of your top quality videos!
9:53 Immediately transported me to sixth grade, when I played Oblivion after school. Good times
Here's the worst part about all of it: even with you saving as many people as possible, everyone lives, you still lose. Mythic dawn still gets the whole line. Empire still falls. Dagon still wins.
The empire *declines
It hasn't yet, _fell_
And a year after the next elder scrolls game is released and the community fixes the broken shit pile it gets sent to us as, we will play it and see how the Empire is doing lol
Dagon's ass was kicked by Akatosh and he was humiliated. I wouldn't call that a victory
Nah the mythic dawn is a dead cult and Dagon was banished again. I don't think the empire falls just the line of septims.
200 years later the exact same Empire still exists just with a new ruling family. The Cult is one guy in a poor city in Skyrim reminiscing about the good ole days who we take and sacrifice to Dagon. The barrier between Mundas and Oblivion still holding preventing another invasion. Dagon still got slapped by Aka-Martin.
Dagon doesn't even care about the Empire. The Thalmor could be ruling that he wouldn't give a crap. He wants to take control of this plane of reality and rule it. Now the way is blocked forever and he'll never take what he considers to be his birthright.
An amazing way to cover the adventures of Oblivion. I still remember playing through all of the plot points you listed, and it brought back great memories of a fantastic game. This documentary series is fantastic.
"Daedra invading Black Marsh"
Argonian: Call the Ambulance!
...................................................
But not for me!
Would you ever be covering the World of Darkness lore? I am just starting to read about it (using wiki's), with it seeming quite vast considering the modern. Would also be looking into more foreign settings like Neir?
The Bitter Crusade and the War of Princes definitely have a lot of battles between vampires.
I would absolutely love a WoD series!
Yeah, the entirety as well not just Vampire, but the Mage and Wraith Game lines too would be amazing.
great docu as always! Now waiting for the Wolf Queen and the Interregnum
I’d love a video on Queen Barenziah. I think she was mentioned before but a video covering life would be great, and you could tie in the story of Almexia as well.
I feel like you all should cover the wheel of time and it’s lore. It is very rich and just as complex as lord of the rings.
Not the Prime version though...
@@jonbaxter2254 what's wrong with the show? It looked pretty cool.

Man, the argonian's fury reminded me of Warhammer Fantasy's lizardmen where they met force with force, numbers with numbers. Thinking about the reptilian good guys smashing their way through countless daemons just hypes me up x)

This was a dark point for the world of Tamriel, a real kick in the Kvatch...
Could you please do a video on the Battle for Autobot City?
Yes, id love a series on the tranformers wars.
This channel is freaking amazing!
Mehrunes Dagon, as The Lord of Change, still won despite being defeated. Thanks to the invasion and ending Septim's bloodline, he left a terribly weakened Empire, and caused changes on a continental scale.
Also, the Argonians won the prize for the greatest badasses during the Crisis.
This particular series brings both memories and chills, is like you guys are talking of each and everyone of us and deeds of a past life great job I wish you guys to make some videos on fallout as well
LOVE THIS NEW CHANNEL…!!!!!
The other videos are cool.. but MORE Elder Scrolls lore please..!!!! 🔥
Still my fav game Of all time and when I go back to play there is still so many new things to do . This game and series touched my soul and heart . I will forever be grateful .

Awesome video guys well done loving this channel. love the fantasy warhammer be good to see you take on the 40k universe and the lore of the groups. the research you guys do is amazing and to out that in practice with the 40k universe would be really good to watch
Can’t wait to see the prelude to skyrims lore with the thalmor claiming to have closed the oblivion gates and all the other crazy events.
Fantastic. Can't wait for more.
I appreciate the art done for the emperors and emperesses
This was really good. It would be really cool if you made videos going into the same amount of detail for the other mainline games (Daggerfall, and Morrowind are my faves 👉👈).
Fantastic video! Loved it! Please keep it up!
Amazing content as always... as for other videos or lore have you thought about doing dragon age?
I need a new single player elder scrolls game... I NEED TO SMASH THE THALMOR!!
9:44 .. Whos name was Micah the Lizard. He was a master swordman and his agility was a match for even the khajits and woodelfs.
He became a champion of the arena after running in to finacial problems related to gambling, and later took work with the Fighters Guild. Aswell as helping the mages guild with some errants.
He had the charm of a rock and spent his evenings drinking, and he could outlast even Newheim the portly without showing sights of drunkeness.
He never waited around or never fast-traveld (urgh).
It wasnt untill 3E 434, while sitting in a tavern in Cheydinhall (or where it now was), Lost on what to do with his life and new wealth. while playing for his drink that he felt the Amulet of Kings.
It was during this time he contracted vampirism, and though he manage to cure it, caused delays in saving the empire. He reluctantly joined the blades, feeling he had done no heroism, though told otherwise.
Last sighting of him after the crises was by a bravil guard outside the mysterious gate island.
He was rumored to be the speaker of the dark brotherhood aswell as beeing the leader of the thives guild.
these videos are awesome dude!
so you gonna tell me you have the sexy voice of kings and generals and elder scrolls lore combined ? thats a match in heaven
The argonians counter-invading Oblivion never ceases to amaze me!
If it makes commercial sense and your team is up for the challenge, I would like to see coverage of Glen Cook's Black Company book series. He's known as the true successor to Tolkien for military fantasy, and seeing his battles in a visual medium would be fantastic.
this was a good one. i knew a lot about skyrim, but only bits of the older canon. will u do book series as well, or just the big media stuff, games, shows, movies, etc.?
The Skyrim soundtrack in the background is legendary. Easily one of the best soundtracks ever made
Good stuff thank you!
Wait the narrative voice for this is the same as kings and generals holy 💩 subscribed
Great work man!
It's so great to see the games coming together
I'd love to see you cover The Zentradi Wars of the Robotech Anime. Starting with Macross SDF and a overview of Zentradi expansion and warfare.

“The Daedric prince Mehrunez Dagon...”
Mehrunez Dagon: “¿Si?”
