UA-cam algorithm kinda dislikes us right now, but you can turn this around by liking, commenting and sharing. Please, do that. :-)
Oof ok 👌
Yep
please cover the Exosquad
👍
You can always trust on UA-cam's algorithms to ruin the day...
Extremely well made. This is less a history of the Nilfaardian wars and more a history of the entire Witcher universe. I haven't seen any witcher lore video that comes close.
He is wrong in many descriptions
There is so much lore you can work with, the battle of brenna alone deserves a videos on its own
Battle of Brenna and the Toussaint bits are probably why Lady of the Lake takes the cake as best book in the series over Baptism of Fire.
i thought he has a video on battle of brenna
@@Adam_okaay I thought The Last Wish was the best one followed by Time of Contempt.
48:45 "the poor ******* infantry filled in the gap" hahahha I had to replay that I heard that right
Haha, I find it refreshing that they tell it how it is. Poor ******* farmer boys.
I did that too I had to put subtitles on to make sure it was what i heard lmao😂😂😂😂😂
Yep, got me n'all
That was the actual name of the infantry in the game and also in the book.
You can see the name in gwent too. I hate gwent.
Just wanna say how hilarious "Lesbomancy" is 🤣. Great video by the way, keep making more!
there is a website devoted to this way of magic only available to women. it is, predictably, called "girlsway". very educational.
My favourite kind of 'mancy'
It’s my favourite kind of magic: lesbomancy
I wasn't quite expecting that one. Delivered without a note of amusement...
Sending this to my boys making a Witcher tabletop RPG right now
its already made officially by r talsorian games
Wow, that was monumental. You treated the work with the love it deserves.
After an hour listening to this, I understand why people are up in arms against Netflix.
Just read the first book, which is a compilation of short stories of Geralt Witchering around, and you’ll see how they messed up adapting it.
Yup. Idk why but the Netflix ciri bugs me for some reason! I just finish the games lately again. My high school days playing the Witcher series. 😂
I have to say bravo to the entire wizards and warriors team! You have secured my vote as the undisputed #1 greatest UA-cam channel in existence!! I love the long, detailed videos. Phenomenal job guys & gals!
WHAT????!!!
The UA-cam Algorithm doesn't like you???
Screw that!!! This channel is awesome!!!
Keep doing what you are doing. I love your channel. The content is right on and I want to see more and so does my good friend and my cousin.
I'm not familiar with English translation of the Sapkowski's books, but I read orginal version more than a few times. You make huge mistakes in the description of the battle of Brenna. According to your point of view Coehoorn was an idiot, but in fact he was not.
The Nodlings right flank was ordered to support centre, not to withdraw, due to the fact that Alba Divison was a great challenge and there was a huge risk of collapsing centre as well as the left flank. The allies formation was very close to disintegration and there were huge breaks between allies centre and flankss. Elves attacked through those holes on the rear area of the Nordlings. Alba was still fighting durings Scoia'tael charge. The Nilfgard right didn't manouver like you described. During Redanians charge part of them still fought with the Nordlings left flank units. They
were strong enough to use part of the force to stop/delay Redanians attack. When Coehoorn decided to use his reserve there was still fight on whole battleground and there were no clear victor. Btw Foltest reserve infantry was conscripted, but they were trained pikemen with high morale.
Huh? That's weird.
You're probably right about that translation issue.
Can you cover the life story of Geralt of Rivia in your version? I like your narrating style. It is bingeable and better than Netflix.
I second this request & statement 🙋🏼
That actually would be epic.
At this point anything can be better than the Netflix adaptation.
Is true
Hell ya
Just started playing witcher 3 for the first time. This will help me keep up with the lore behind the wars. THANKS.
Truly, one of the greatest games ever made
Take it slowy then because it's more enjoyable that way
I CANNOT believe I just barely discovered this channel!!! WOW! BIIIIIINGEING TIIIIIIME!!!!!!!!🥳🤯
Looking forward to the first age of middle earth and the many extraordinary battles and duals that took place within it. “Unnumbered Tears” will be truly the most interesting and heartbreaking to cover. Thanks Wizards 👍
Just started playing Witcher 3 for the first time ever and I’m really getting into the lore & world. Ordered all the Witcher Omnibus graphic novels and since it’ll be a week before they come in I’m loving videos like this :) Great stuff!!
When i finished playing Witcher 3 I would always wonder how much the world would change. This scenario is the best ending for me. GREAT JOB
Anyone else hear “The poor fxcking infantry” at 48:45 XD
Well they are called the poor fucking infantry, so you probably heard correctly

just commenting to battle the slow descent of youtube algorithm into madness. long live Wizards & Warriors
This has got to be one of the best breakdowns of Witcher Universe lore I've seen. The animations really help - I've tried watching several others at this point that just use stills or game footage and I can't keep track of the battles and geography. Thanks for this!
Thanks!
This detailed the events of the Witcher show far better than the Witcher show did
My lawd this was an awesome video!
Also in praise of CDPR, I was able to remember each of these events taking place across the various witcher games (1-3) and spinoffs like Thronebreaker.
It's nice having all the videos condensed. Thanks for another great upload :3
Philippa Eilhart wad responsible for killing king Vizimir, not Vilgefortz. The Order of the Flaming Rose was Established by none other than Sigismund Dijkstra, as stated by Ori Reuven (who hides as a bootblack) in Witcher 1.
Isn’t that why Radvoid had her eyes taken
@@jackj9816 Yes! That was ½ of the equation. He also knew about Philippa's involvement with Demavend's death and thought she also ordered assasination of Foltest, and considered her actions for the Pontar Valley a betrayal.
Games are not realy cannon. In the books the order seems much older than a single living man.
@@tedbed1389they’re canon
@@wowzzz402 The books came first, the books are the presiding canon.
Nilfgaard is the second most competent evil empire in fiction I’ve ever seen in my life…
What's the first
I don't see it being particularly evil.
nothing evil about it
@@Overlord734 that’s because they’re competent lol. But to the north they definitely are.
Considering shit that has been happening in norther realms I always viewed nilfgaard an tolerant empire under which people loyal to it can thrive and prosper in peace regardless of their identity ideology and race. Hence why I went full nilfgaard on w3 getting this exact same ending. Why suffer for the simpelton idea of "freedom" when you can indeed submit but perhaps live a more free life under a single empire.
THAT WAS SO GOOD 👏👏👏👏
This was excellent! Thank you so much for putting it together and with detailed maps battle animations.
awesome content as always , loving your venture into fantasy /fictional wars and battles
Love this type of videos.. already a huge fan of Kings and Generals
I have thoroughly enjoyed the first 53 minutes of your video. I can hardly wait to finish it tomorrow. Ty W&W!
Hi, I'm cadet Puttkammer from the imperial war academy of Nilfgaard, thanks you for your video!
PHENOMENAL WORK!!!
More Witcher lore please!! 🙏🏼
Witcher lore is probably my second favourite after LOTR. You guys did a phenomenal job
For me it's almost like spiritual successor alongside the likes of Dragon Age. You can see certain influences from LOTR right and there, but in such a way that they are almost feels like alternate timeline. Fan-made mod like TW Fourth Age established that elves could thrive due to establishing client state out of human population called, Elvellyn. But what if that not the case? There you go, Witcher and Dragon Age as case studies.
The narration quality on these videos is unparalleled. The narrator is speaking Elven gibberish as if it was their native language.
Really enjoy your videos bud! Keep up the good work and please don’t stop..
I feel like this series understands the nuances of geopolitics, especially with magic involved, better than 95% of fantasy. A lot of people focus too much on the petty squabbles instead of real world analogues for why cultures overtake or consume one another. It's pretty simple: if you have the money and/or military infrastructure you dictate your own terms, and similar sized polities constantly work with and against one another to gain any advantage.
Nice work dude thanks
Wow…thank you for the backfilling of the story.
This is so well made
Finally another Witcher! Keep it up please!
The "Pam pam pa ram" reference had me. Take my like.
Top notch comment!
@@OhDearOhDear69 this a "Top notch swords" reference?
@ it was indeed 😉
1:26:41 This is when making this kind of videos on videogames with multiple endings kinda suck massive PP. I for one liked my boy Sigi and let him continue with his plans for the north. It was actually kinda cool how intense you narrated that part since i was very curious on what the outcome will be.
I feel like that was a moment in Witcher 3 where the writing was a little strange - While Djikstra would probably be the best option for the North, Geralt would never ever abandon Roche and Ves and making these things related kinda ruins any chance for ever choosing Djikstra
@@FabianM1802 It’s also really dumb Djistrka assumed Geralt would just let him kill Ves and Roche because witchers are supposed to neutral, like Geralt hadn’t just helped assassinate Radovid.
@@FabianM1802baically zhe worst wuest in the game
It's amazing how much of our choices can shape how the wars of the games turn out. In my playthroughs, I make a point to have the Northern Realms united and independent against Nilfgaard and Emyr dead, be it under Djikstra or Radovid, and I never knew there was a path to have Novigrad besieged by the Nilfgaardians
"Which is the bigger number? five 🖐or one ✊? One army, a real army united behind one leader with one purpose."
High quality content. Great work! I look forward to many more videos from you and your team.
This was a fantastic summary. I’ll definitely recommend this to my friends who are just getting into The Witcher games and universe.
I wonder where CDPR will take the story next…
Amazing video. While reading the books i wasnt paying enough attention to the larger world and its politics. This video makes many events of the books much clearer.
One of the best witcher videos I've seen.
What an amazing channel. Many thanks for these lore videos.
Would you mind making a full series on the Song of Ice and Fire?
First one or two episodes could be about the Dawn Age, then the Age of Heroes, with the rise of House Stark, their wars with the Boltons, the unification of the North, the rise of the Lannisters from Lann the Clever, the wars of the Storm Kings of House Durrandon and Kings of the Reach of House Gardener.
Then the Coming of the Andals, a remake of Aegon's Conquest?, The Dance of the Dragons and the Blackfyre Rebellions and Robert's rebellion, until perhaps considering remaking the War of the Five Kings?
@Wizards and Warriors
Nah they will most likely skim past lots of cool events just like in their elder scrolls and witcher vids such wasted video making potential they don't talk about enough events in the different universes
I definitely would love to see a series covering "Fire & Blood": from Aegon's Conquest to the Dance of the Dragons. Especially with House of the Dragon coming to HBO this August, it would be nice to get some context for the Blacks, the Greens, and the Targaryens as a whole.
All of their Game of Thrones content is on their old Kings and General channel.
@@tylerboyce4081 I for one have had enough of the Dragons, and not enough of the Wolves
@@theawesomeman9821 hence "re-make"
1:20:20 Absolutely lost it there ahahaha
Love your work bro keep up the great work! ✊🏽
Scoia'tael always have a special place in my memories. Mostly becouse in Italian it's easy to associate them with squirrels! "Scoiattolo" is the italian word for Squirrel :D
They were supposed to be called Squirrels, which is hilarious.
Yup, they are called squirells in polish original. That's what Sapkowski did, he drew terms and myths from mostly all european cultures.
They kinda remind the italian partisans
I love this channel and its other related channels!
Great vid guys, keep it up
I just realized that Emhyr wanted to marry HIS OWN DAUGHTER.
Also, Gerald and Din Djarin have a lot in common. Both try desperatly NOT to be the the main characters in their respective stories.
Mad Max is somewhat the same.
And to our happiness, they both fail miserably at It, and end up being great fathers. Although Grogu was far easier to protect than Ciri ever was - Moff Gideon and Dark Troopers are scary, but that's nothing compared to fighting interdimensional elves, magic, monsters and humam warmongery for more than a decade.
@@bigbangrafa8435 Grogu could also fit in a blasterproof bassinet so there´s that
Lol yep but they’re too dignified not to be
Yeah, WTF?!?! I was just about to post the same thing. Thats more than a bit creepy....
Really great, i love the maps and battles!
Noticed the crown of Gondor when you said Temeria has no king lol
For the algorithm. On a side note; Too bad Netflix ruined the story. The Witcher could have a been a seven season fantasty tv series for the decade.
I'm writing a fan fiction as a hobby of a Fourth Northern War. The general premise would be that Dijkstra survives Witcher 3, but if I remember right, Sapkowski has confirmed that Nilfgaard eventually conquered the North under the reign of Morvran Voorhis. I'd love to make a video like this one day myself, to show how the war plays out.
In short, thank you to everyone who put so much hard work into making this video. You're an inspiration.
@Gr8sc0tt well you ain't a legit empire if nomadic warriors didn't at least attacked your empire once
@MrKILLINOOBZ Did they fall to the Haak? I knew they were supposed to invade, but from what little is implied in the books, I always thought they were eventually fought off.
Nah. That would mean Geralt let Dijkstra murder his Termerian turncloak friends. The true ending definitely ends with Nilfgaard ultimately winning in the 3rd war and Cirilla eventually becoming Empress
@@alejandromaldonado6159 I meant that I'd change that. It never made any sense for Dijkstra to expect Geralt to stand aside and let his friends die. And after their first violent confrontation in the books there is no chance in hell Dijkstra would risk fighting Geralt in person (and only bring like 10 men). CDPR were crunching the last parts of the game so the ending of that questline never made any sense.
So I'd do a version where Dijkstra waits for Geralt to separate from Roche, Thaler and Ves and only then sends assassins after them, and not Geralt. That way he doesn't put a very angry Witcher on another kingslaying mission. By the time Geralt found out Dijkstra would be in Tretegor surrounded by an army.
Link please!
This series is too good to be true!!
1:20:21 oh shit, i wasn't ready for that. 🤣
Finally! A worthy ad
Great video!

Excellent video

As for this part, I think that the most "canon" version is Geralt saving Triss and Roche saving Anais, but without Geralt he's always too late to make it to the summit and affect the fate of Temeria. In this scenario, Vernon will choose to become the guardian of Anais instead, hiding her in the countryside until the end of chaos. This would explain the meager resistance of Temerian Army during the Third War - its nobles lacked the unifying symbol to rally around.
Playing witcher 3 right now, such a fun game and the story is just as good.
Good stuff
Can’t imagainw how much effort was put into this
Job well done
Awesome video. Thank you
Truly good work. Well done
what music is used for vilgeforzes speech to geralt about nature?
I'm addicted to your channel!
48:44 “the poor fucking infantry” I’m dying
that's exactly what they're called tho. There's even a gwent card named after them, with the strength of 1 lmao
Good job, and thanks for the video!
Where did you get all the details about the siege of Novigrad?
Gwynleve would not have led the western flank, he was only a captain. Far more likely it was Havart var Moehoen the Nilfgaardian Field Marshal we see briefly talking with The Bloody Baron when we first enter his camp.
Due to his scarce screen time most people forget about him,but as a field Marshal he was second to the Emperor and maybe to Voorhis due to his noble blood and political ties with the merchant guild
Am i the only one who's feeling how EERILY similar the Nilfgaardian Wars are to the Ottoman Empire's incursions into Eastern Europe are? All this bickering and back and forth between the Northern Kingdoms, Nilfgaard attempting to play all sides against each other, it's uncanny how similar it is to how the Ottoman sultans tried for decades to bring down the kingdoms and principalities of Transylvania, Moldavia, Wallachia, and Hungary in order to get to the rest of Europe.
Since there’s no cannon ending to the third northern war can you do a series if dijkstra or radovid remains in power and defeats nilfgaard?
The best ending seems to be to help Nilfgaard, and then push Ciri away, so she becomes the empress who rules justly over the new empire! Oh man! What a choice!
@@williamyoung9401 yeah but what is a warrior forced into the most powerful position in the known world compared to mad but militarily capable king breaking free from a game of tug of war between different mages and a spymaster who walked nearly all walks of life uniting a divided north
@@williamyoung9401 I mean, as someone who knows little about the Witcher this video made me painfully hard to side with the Northern Realms, and they pretty much deserved their fate, but still. Giving a single monarchy control over the entire ccontinent doesn't sound like a good idea, even if Ciri concretely is a good ruler.
She won't live forever... Or his she immortal?
I let Dijkstra live and in the ending I got, he fended off Nilfgaard, to the point where it led to Emhyr assassination. Leaving The North to be free from Nilfgaard tyranny.
@@asasas9146 Oh yeah The North is still shit, that's kinda one of the things I like about The Witcher, no matter what county/Kingdom/empire your in, it's fucking awful there in some form or fashion. Pick your poison I suppose.
And I don't think Ciri is immortal.
Awesome stuff,thanks.
The lesbomancy reference sent me
Great video, I never really got into the Witcher games or show but these videos have sparked my interest in 'em.
Could you please do a video on the Battle for Autobot City?
Love the video, I respect the freestyle ending, however, personally I've always found the Ciri Empress ending the least logical one, given her story, but again, the Witcher universe often leaves endings open for imagination so props to u :D
There is a version of Redanian victory? Or, in second game, in pre third war, all options of map of north?
7:36 Describes humanity perfectly!
Like the fact that you described Nilfgaardian victory in the third war. It was always canon for me. Not even because it is better but because Redanian victory seems very unrealistic in the given circumstances.
Man I wish you started lore of the elder scrolls and all the major/minor battles which litter Tamriel and other contents In the world of TES.
