Kind of reminds me of how the TIGER states here on Earth isolated themselves economically from the rest of the World for a few decades and then entered the Global economy decades later on their on terms. I was not ready for just how depressing this video is Though this does explain a LOT about why we see so many Twi'leks and Why they can NEVER seem to free themselves. It's truly heartbreaking just how much the deck was stacked against them
The origin is actually pretty interesting. Long story but it dates back to the Rakata. They were a species that ruled much of the galaxy over 30,000 years ago before the Republic existed. Their empire fell due to a number of factors but the biggest is they relied primarily on force-sensitivity to use their technology and plague of unknown origin killed millions of Rakata and left the survivors without the ability to use the force. At least one Rakata tried to get their force abilities back by using genetic engineering using a massive supercomputer they called The Mother Machine on the planet Belsavis. She allegedly created the Twi'leks along with the Zabrak
As Blade stated, the Twileks, Zabrak, Esh'ka, and several other races were created by the Mother Machine under the Rakata. The Zabraks were perfect slaves because they had two hearts and were innately strong. They also could serve as a secondary slave army due to those traits. The Esh'ka were the warrior slaves of the Rakata. The Twileks were a bit of an afterthought, created again for slavery, but a bit more diversely. Male Twileks were sent to join the Zabraks, but female Twileks were entertainers, servants, and sex slaves for the Rakata. When the Rakata died out and their Infinite Empire crumbled, the species they created were stranded on different worlds: The Zabraks on Iridonia and a couple other colonies, the Esh'ka were sealed away on Belsavis, and the Twileks were dumped on Ryloth
@@minki46664 You can fashion primitive weapons against predators. You cannot fashion primitive weapons against cyclones. Nor can you farm on a surface with the conditions attributed to their planet. As I posted before, it makes much more sense that they came from somewhere else and adapted to the world than that they evolved there.
The Hutts' technological advances were also accelerated by the contacts with the Rakatan's Infinite Empire and the fact they were able to scavenge and reverse-engineer some the tech that was left on their world after the Rakata retreated and essentially abandoned their empire.
I am curious about how the huts set up their operations. in our world most extra cultural slave trades were built off of intercultural slave trades in exchange for useful materials. in the trans Atlantic slave trade for example western medicine and some industrialization actually lead to a population boom despite the slave export
In the EU Rogue Squardon books, Nawara Ven is an ex-defense attorney turned fighter pilot for Rogue Squadron. Pretty sure the Twi'leks at The Sanctuary were free employees, not slaves. Their boss lady certainly did not seem enslaved.
I read about this and it’s because the Ryloth government allowed it to support their planetary economy. Since Ryloth was a member of the Republic it was not allowed to practice slavery but to work around this the Ryloth government made them as contract workers to offworld clients usually not part of the Republic!
Still this doesn't explain how is that many Twi'leks make it big out of their world and become prominent in the military. There also were quite a few Twi'lek Jedi - Aayla Sekura, Zhar Lestin - and Sith - Darth Talon, Alora. (Alora is actually a Dark Jedi, but still, a Dark Side Force warrior.) This still doesn't explain how they ended up there and what their affinity to the Force is. True, many Twi'leks weren't born on Ryloth and I suppose they had quite some cities and societies on other planets - Tython and Alderaan come to mind. But still, this doesn't explain it. True, they were shipped off Ryloth for slavery more often than not, but not all of them were slaves. In fact I feel like the majority of them weren't.
Well, you have to keep in mind that the Jedi/Sith traveled to all sorts of different planets to retrieve potential younglings, so finding them on Ryloth or any other planet with Twi'leks wouldn't be out of the question. Any Twi'leks who manage to become prominent in the military or government were probably born off of Ryloth or had found some way to work up to those positions even if they were born on Ryloth or were a slave at some point. While many Twi'leks weren't born on Ryloth, most were definitely born on Ryloth as that is generally the rule for most species. You also have to keep in mind that a majority of the Twi'leks that we've seen have been slaves or at the very least were slaves at one point. A good example of that is Aayal Secura as even though she became a Jedi, she had been born a slave. So, a good chunk of the race is most definitely being held in slavery.
twi'leks are like indians in india there's some rich indians who are perfectly fine then there's some really poor indians who end up as prostitutes or slaves in order to have money to give to their family the slaves/sweat shop workers in india don't revolt

Where dos he get his lore? I remember that their was a twi'lick star pilot who was scared of a space critter that inspired their ancestors to make hyperdrives. But that could just be a back story for that twi'lick
Maybe the Blueish Twi'leks were supposed to be on the darker colder side of the moon, while the lighter orange/yellowish Twi'leks were on the desert side of the planets. The greens are probably crossbreed with each other, like how Hera's parents were Orange and Yellow.
@@emberfist8347 Different races of humans look different because of where they live. People who live in Africa have darker skin because they have more melanin which is necessary for survival where there is lots of sun. In the northern hemisphere melanin makes it harder to absorb Vitamin D from the sun which is necessary for a healthy immune system. Ethnic groups from the north developed less melanin because it helped them survive in the colder climates with less sunlight. So yes race is usually tied to geography until a species has developed enough technology to deal with the environmental influences on evolution.
What I want to know is why anyone would settle on such a planet in the first place? Like Twi'leks are near human, so I assume the had common ancestors in the distant past...
Sweet breakdown man! I often enjoy these videos. The whole Twi'lek slavery makes no sense to me when they have direct access to technically advanced races and their technology. They would have to be so psychologically and intellectually incapable of gathering tech, knowledge, skills and coordinating people in some way, for slavery to work long term. Even our most primitive societies would rebel against a dictator/overseer/slaver and eventually find a way to either escape or overthrow them. Wouldn't they have incredibly rich oral traditions though? Every sentient sci fi species is written, consciously or unconsciously, to reflect a certain part of humanity, and when humans are in environments where nothing material lasts for long, oral traditions thrive. The Twi'leks probably have captivating epics, beautiful songs, etc. Just because culture isn't visible to outsiders doesn't mean it's not there.
They could also have the other kind of oral tradition. The one that would probably fit their historical role quite well.

The Hutt crime empire definitely strived off slavery. Nikto, and Weequay were also enslaved and even came to see the Hutts as gods/Devine Benefactors in some sects.
It is interesting that Bib Fortuna was as high in Jabbas heirachy as he was. Essentially his second in command.

Kind of reminds me of how the TIGER states here on Earth isolated themselves economically from the rest of the World for a few decades and then entered the Global economy decades later on their on terms. That said they did aquire outside services and contracts, as my uncle here in Germany provided some of them with electrical insulators for high voltage overland lines so they could expand their power grid, but those were targeted infrastructure investments not backed by foreign debt

This has to be the most ludicrous species origin story I've ever heard. Not saying you aren't following the lore, just that the lore makes no sense.
@@emberfist8347 Okay, that IS interesting. Also more believable than twileks evolving into what they are on a death world with those conditions.

Rakatan Infinite Empire: alien tiddies go brrrrrr!
The Hutts' technological advances were also accelerated by the contacts with the Rakatan's Infinite Empire and the fact they were able to scavenge and reverse-engineer some the tech that was left on their world after the Rakata retreated and essentially abandoned their empire.
Hutt's don't have their own tech tehy always steal it.
Great video. You covered this topic both thoughtfully and intelligently. Awesome.
I am curious about how the huts set up their operations. in our world most extra cultural slave trades were built off of intercultural slave trades in exchange for useful materials. in the trans Atlantic slave trade for example western medicine and some industrialization actually lead to a population boom despite the slave export
The blade master who taught Bane was bad ass
In the EU Rogue Squardon books, Nawara Ven is an ex-defense attorney turned fighter pilot for Rogue Squadron. Pretty sure the Twi'leks at The Sanctuary were free employees, not slaves. Their boss lady certainly did not seem enslaved.

What would have happened if the Jedi refused to led the clone army after the first battle of Geonosis?
Bruh this would be a good video if he would make it , nice suggestion . Don't give up .
Probably fewer losses on the clones side, since they had trained leaders.

Ive always wondered why they have so many different colors for skin is there an explination?
It is the same reason as humans they have different skin colors because they are different ethnic groups of Twi'leks.
@@emberfist8347 you mean different locations on the planet?
Maybe the Blueish Twi'leks were supposed to be on the darker colder side of the moon, while the lighter orange/yellowish Twi'leks were on the desert side of the planets. The greens are probably crossbreed with each other, like how Hera's parents were Orange and Yellow.
@@xrstevenson No it is just they have different races just like Humans.

Loser! You’re a loser!
But then again, this same universe has living teddy bears, so eh.
