It speaks volumes that I finished season one before I took a break, and when I returned I wasnt sure if I had already seen it so i watched it again to catch up. I forgot the entire first season, within ~4 months
Considering I remembered twists and turns in The Clone Wars half a decade since I watched it and I remember close to nothing from Rebels even though I watched it much, much later than I watched the Clone Wars is a pretty big indicator of quality.
Did you also forget The Mandalorian? Because if Rebels is bad, then The Mandalorian is 20 times worse. This video is too extreme, it takes everything out of context. If we take what he's saying, then we gotta take it for all the series.
I stand by my point that especially the first season of rebels is extremely forgettable, while at least personally I really enjoyed the first Season of the Mandalorian. I do really enjoy the later seasons of Rebels. Its one of those unfortunate series that get a lot better as they age but that makes it hard for one to recommend it to friends

They follow like clans, following the strongest and sometimes the smartest Mandolorian amongst them. But following by royalty just makes them like any other humanoid race.
Evan Light I also hate that they made seem like they were just an Aryan-looking race in TCW and I know they kinda fixed it in Rebels. The show would have scored major points if they all died in the same explosion that Kanan did. I would watch that scene over and over again with some much glee.
I agree, I would love the show if Darth Vader and Maul massacred their ravaged corpses for wasting my time- I could not put the story down because I expected some redemption toward the end of the story; but they were all very disappointing. Them all dying at the hand of awesome Vader would be very convenient for the Empire, coming to power lore.
Obi-Wan's stance in the Maul duel was mimicking Qui-Gonn's stance; he was trying to (and succeeded) bait Maul into attempting the same maneuver he used on Qu- Gonn.
Nah man look at that pose he holds with the lightsaber pointing up, parallel to his body, handle about shoulder height. It’s EXACTLY what Qui-Gon does before Maul gives him a belly piercing. It was pretty clearly planned that way.
I think what they could’ve done to IMPROVE the Grand Inquisitor would be to have the Grand Inquisitor defeat Ezra and Kanan in every encounter, with each following encounter slowly going more in the Jedis’ favour due to them learning, but everytime before the Grand Inquisitor can actually finish them off, he’d get attacked by a Rebel squadron and be forced to retreat It would’ve been a better way to explain two unskilled Jedi constantly escaping the second deadliest mf in the Empire’s ranks time and again
That “What If?” on the Twin Sons episodes hits harder when you realize Dave Filoni originally wanted Maul to be haunted in the desert by visions of Savage and Satine but he scrapped the idea because he didn’t want to “confuse” viewers who had only seen Rebels
That makes no sense, Dave Filoni didn't want to confuse people who only watch rebels. Star wars rebels is a sequal to TCW. (Besides the obvious, he’s the big bad, but what’s her personal stake in this, why does this motivate her?) Why does Sabine want to be a Jedi? Is it to feel closer to Ezra? If so, they haven’t said that yet. It’s an odd show, and as Marcus correctly points out in his commentary, Sabine has enough going on in Rebels, she didn’t need to add Jedi Padawan to the list. (And that’s not even getting into what the show is implying about who can become a Jedi……)

So when he goes for the hilt bash to the face, Obi Wan is ready for it and promptly kills him.

About Obi Wan's pose in the Maul fight, I'm pretty sure his changed pose isn't supposed to mimick Sir Alec Guiness' pose, but rather bait Maul into an agressive start because Qui Gon started his fight against Maul that way. So Maul tried the very trick he killed Qui Gon with on Obi Wan, but of course Obi Wan was prepared. This makes it even better IMO
Nothing can make this crap better in any way. Darth Maul, one of the greatest villains of star wars and one of the most dangerous men in the galaxy, gets his ass whopped in one second by a man he knew and hated for his entire life. Watch TCW, Maul and Kenobi are equally capable, and suddenly Obi wins the fight with no effort for absolutely no reason and with no explanation. Is terrible. The graphic novels books and micro series had interconnected plot lines, with far more depth and complexity and character development. TCW was comparatively shallow and relied far to heavily upon the rule of cool, rather than developing the characters and plot. There are some exceptions with the the Mortis trilogy coming to mind, but for the most part it's just a dumbed-down imitation of what came before.
the animation is also REALLY bizarre. It's like the opposite problem that a show like Nicks TMNT has, where that shows animation is really snappy and jerky like it's stop motion or something, this shows animation is way too smooth. Like it takes 500 million frames of animation for a character to say a single word or something.
benjamin ferrer Clone Wars looks like they animated paintings of graphic novels. Characters are stylized, yes. Rebels looks like a toddler comic animated--everyone has round, stupid faces with huge eyes and gaping mouths
I like that they just threw this kid Jedi into canon who, before Luke even held a lightsaber: - Met Obi-Wan - Spoke to Yoda about the force - Saw footage of Anakin - Met R2 and C3P0 - Helped Leia stick it to the Empire - Helped Lando on some lame adventure I can't remember - Fought alongside Ahsoka - Fought alongside Captain Rex - Encountered Vader a few times (and lived) - Faced Maul (and lived) - Spoke to the f***ing Emperor Like who is this kid and why does he seem to be the center of the universe? Between him and Rey, why do the Skywalkers even fucking matter anymore?
Don't forget Ahsoka, she's just as bad, just better written. The only thing that seems to make Luke the last hope for the Jedi and the rebellion is because Ahsoka was fucking off on Malachor while Ezra was fucking off with Thrawn and space whales during the OT. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Ahsoka should've had her head chopped off by Vader, but because she's Dave Filoni's OC he had to resort to literal time travel in order to save her, now she just wanders around getting shoved into nearly every Star Wars show since. And Ezra should've been gunned down by Stormtroopers in the first episode
Because people matter beyond what they can do for you. OBVIOUSLY. Does your family not matter more than most people simply because you love them? Did we not meet and fall for the OG characters first? WillFanofMany That's dumb. Several Inquisitors survived after the events of ROTJ in Legends, so why not do it in Canon? Just have their main purpose during the OT be about sabotaging major rebel cells and operations.
Yeah seriously. Something I liked about clone wars is that they would take time for adventures sometimes taking 3 or 4+ episodes to get through it. It wasn't rushed and they truly developed almost all characters, for example that adventure with those droids stealing some stuff from the separatist just to crash on some desert planet and meet that clone who forgot who he was. That ONE CLONE has almost more characterisation alone than all rebels characters combined.... ONE GODDAMN CLONE!
I completely agree with you on the first two season. As the last two came, I did come to appreciate it. I did like how Ezra struggled and finally made his decision to choose light in the last season. Kanan and his death was big hit and was a real sacrifice. He showed what a true Jedi would be in those times. Most of the crew I could do without and be happy if they weren’t there but then grew to care for them. Mauls death was so beautiful as he came to peace with his fate. I care that Ezra is lost and we still don’t know what happened to him as well as Thrawn. I really hope they don’t mess up Ezra character in Ashoka.

Obi-Wan’s switch from the two-finger pose in Twin Suns to the “defensive pose” is actually way cooler than just channeling his shift to Alec Guinness’s personality of Obi-Wan. The pose he switches to is the same as Qui-Gon’s. It’s almost as if he is saying to Maul, “I am even stronger than I was in our previous duels, for I now encompass the wisdom of my old master whom you struck down.” Maul sees this and attempts the same combo that he used to kill Qui-Gon which Obi-Wan counters with ease, cutting Maul’s saber in half. Those 3 minutes between those two is the best storytelling of the entire show(even if it piggybacks off the rest of the storytelling between the two in Phantom and TCW).
But because of clickbait greedy youtubers who love to mindlessly stir up hate like this guy, so many people will pass this up and never get the nuances.
The tendency for Star Wars to get up its own ass with ridiculous lightsaber designs started (probably) in the Phantom Menace with Maul's iconic double-bladed lightsaber (which might be totally impractical but whatever). Then we have Dooku's curved hilt but that's okay it's part of his character supposed to indicate a more "graceful" style (though I don't remember the character being particularly 'graceful' during fights). Then we have General Grievous who is the fucking MAN and is meant to be both the forerunner and prototype of Darth Vader and also this twisted cyborg machine - he's not force sensitive, he's not Sith, he's got his own thing going on so he uses the lightsabers of those he kills. Probably my favorite shtick out of all of them because it's so narratively satisfying even if they bungled the character in the films and in the Clone Wars series but it's still partly them saying "WE NEED A NEW LIGHTSABER THING! GIVE HIM FOUR ARMS IT'S TWICE AS COOL AS DARTH MAUL!" then they proceed to totally waste it in Revenge of the Sith, fuck that movie. I digress. Kylo Ren's longsword-style lightsaber - fine, it's imperfect which fits the lack of knowledge of the Sith and proper lightsaber construction, it's meant to invoke the image of a 'knight' which was SUPPOSED to coincide with the whole "knights of Ren" thing but fucking Abrams and Disney didn't plan out where the movies would go (still baffles me to this day) and Rian Johnson scuppered the whole thing which makes the type of lightsaber little more than a new type of toy to sell fuck whatever, at least it makes more sense to have some sort of cross-guard than just having a straight hilt - if you look at real life swords they almost always have some sort of hand protection for obvious reasons, cool, fine, great. THIS, though. *THIS.* Lucas can't even be blamed for this fucking thing. It doesn't even tie into the characters or any overall theme like almost all of the others I mentioned. This is pure toy-fodder.

The first Mandalorians were the Taung species who followed the strongest wisest among them but as time passed they accepted other who craved battle and the Mandalorians became a cultural identity. Anyone, be it Twi’lek, Sullustan or whatever the fuck Unkar Plutt is, with a penchant for combat and caring for family and friends can be Mando. That's what I love about them.
So far Disney hasn't fucked them up completely and I hope to Kad Ha’rangir they do The Mandalorian show justice.

If it’s too long, either you were very, very thorough (ala YMS debunking the Kimba controversy), or maybe you’re rambling and not very organized.
I personally love any kind of content, as long as it’s well made and isn’t full of fluff.
It’s weird to me that people complain about videos being too long when we live in an era where people binge watch entire TV/film series. You can stop and start whenever you want. Also streams tend to be hours upon hours long. It’s up to you to decide whether or not you want to watch all of it or just the highlights.

I miss clone wars so much it was one of the best shows ever created they never even got to finish the storyline
lol clone wars was a rule of cool bastardization of the books, micro series and graphic novels.
Matt Sinz How so?
The graphic novels books and micro series had interconnected plot lines, with far more depth and complexity and character development. TCW was comparatively shallow and relied far to heavily upon the rule of cool, rather than developing the characters and plot. There are some exceptions with the the Mortis trilogy coming to mind, but for the most part it's just a dumbed-down imitation of what came before.
Matt Sinz I partially agree, but I think TCW was still very good.
Or classic to modern Star Trek, both are enjoyable just in a different way.

the art style makes it look like all the characters are made out of plastic, probably makes it easier to sell toys huh
I saw someone compare their animation models with that of a Gumby (some kind of american toy/thing) and that's sadly accurate lmao.
Yeah, the models the overall look of the show, it pales in comparison to Clone Wars.
the animation is also REALLY bizarre. It's like the opposite problem that a show like Nicks TMNT has, where that shows animation is really snappy and jerky like it's stop motion or something, this shows animation is way too smooth. Like it takes 500 million frames of animation for a character to say a single word or something.
Dude characters in the clone wars looked like fucking wood, like Pinocchio lookin asses
benjamin ferrer Clone Wars looks like they animated paintings of graphic novels. Characters are stylized, yes. Rebels looks like a toddler comic animated--everyone has round, stupid faces with huge eyes and gaping mouths
I like that they just threw this kid Jedi into canon who, before Luke even held a lightsaber:
- Met Obi-Wan
- Spoke to Yoda about the force
- Saw footage of Anakin
- Met R2 and C3P0
- Helped Leia stick it to the Empire
- Helped Lando on some lame adventure I can't remember
- Fought alongside Ahsoka
- Fought alongside Captain Rex
- Encountered Vader a few times (and lived)
- Faced Maul (and lived)
- Spoke to the f***ing Emperor
Like who is this kid and why does he seem to be the center of the universe?
@@nagger8216 Luke is the last hope for the Jedi because he’s the only one who can turn Vader into Anakin again/bring balance to the force
As pyrocynical once said in his video of hunt down the freeman,
"You wanna make your character feel part of the world, not the world itself"
Because people matter beyond what they can do for you. OBVIOUSLY. Does your family not matter more than most people simply because you love them? Did we not meet and fall for the OG characters first? This is drama, not sports. Meeting other powerful characters doesn’t diminish our feelings at all. Shame on you for thinking otherwise.
@@nagger8216Luke’s the last hope because it’s his FATHER. OBVIOUSLY. Goes back to the original themes of father/son conflict. And then he has the experience. Ahsoka’s not the last hope when she’s no longer a Jedi. The only adjustment that could have happened was to make Leia necessary to Anakin’s redemption too, but you know, space Gods forbid the 70s/80s give women a priority and offend weak ass dudebros. Filoni didn’t “resort” to Time Travel. If it exists in that world, it’s an acceptable possibility. It sets up the heartbreaking reality that Ezra wants to save Kanan and can’t, which is something all of us who have been through grief desperately wish for. Especially when you’re a kid and your parental figure dies. I’ve been there. It wasn’t “resorting” to anything.

I just wish they focused more on story arcs like TCW instead of one episode that feels rushed, and develop their villains more. I mean seriously, did the Inquisitors from Season 2 even have any kind of personality other than "Ooh, look how evil we are!"
Logan Smith Team fucking Rocket are more enjoyable then they are, and that's literally what they're supposed to be.
His name was Gregor: Clone Commando... and when he returned in Rebels, they made him crazy...

Joan the developers said we need helicopter lightsaber while one drugs
