Nice video! To me, the Kaminoans illustrate what science for the sake of science without moral guidance can lead... A species of biological robots. Narrowminded and too limited to be able to recognize the flaws in themselves. It may take long but this usually does not end well.
Science for the sake of science? This was clearly science for the sake of survival though, this wasn't a bunch of eugenicists playing around to stroke their own egos, this was a civilization desperate to find a way to survive the changing conditions on their home planet
From the design of their feet and slender body, I am very interested to see the speed at which they run and swim. Especially since they dedicated themselves to science and intellectual growth more than anything else.
One of my favorite species (based only on their appearance in the movies). Technically advanced, mysterious and ominous, when Obi-Wan visited them I expected something nefarious any moment.
Ice is less dense than water, meaning that there would have had to have been enormous glaciers covering the entire planet, for it to have become covered by water. Even then the water levels would be shallow at some places. So no sprawling grass planes for kamino.
You could have an undercrust ocean situation like I've seen theorized about earth. The water essentially breaks out adding to the surface ocean flooding the planet. Or maybe there is another layer of non-water liquid in the ocean that is denser than water and also denser in it's solid form than it's liquid form.
You know, this species raises a great question: is survival of a species really worth it if it means becoming this? And things like this is what makes science fiction such a fun way to tell stories.
I find it interesting that the Kaminoans never fell prey to the societal destiny that ridged distopic cast societies have. As well as the eventual destiny of all slaves and their masters.
Assuming they had their own economy without galactic trade, why would the kaminoans need or want foreign credits? It seems more probable once they found alien life they would create their own clone army to exterminate and dominate them. They mustve been impressed with Obi Wan and his use of the force. Its the only reason I can think of why they would help another species.
When we first met the Kaminoans, I idly wondered how a humanoid species (i.e. built for walking rather than swimming) could evolve on a flooded world. This video answered that little question of mine, so THANK YOU.
"Kaminoans with green eyes are euthanized." Five seconds later: fan art, Kaminoan scientist in full lab gear *drawn with brilliantly emerald green eyes.*
If they're so concerned about perfection what do they have such long necks? I can see a lot of problems popping up making then selves vulnerable in combat, not to mention how difficult it is to pump blood up to their heads
How do you know that they have blood to pump? Or that pumping is a way that they would circulate fluids through their body with? Or that their necks are long and yours isn't short?
I would like to know more about Ithorians, they are kinda everywhere, and can only spek with translators, but other then that I know basically nothing and I can‘t be the only one
Listening to the history and culture of the Kaminoans to some extent reminds me of the Tleilaxu from the Dune universe. Like the Kaminoans they were masters of genetic engineering, creating high quality meats for the nobles to dine on, 'Gholas' which are a kind of clone that possesses the memories of its template (that is also how they perpetuate their own existence, through gholas of themselves), 'Twisted' Mentats such as Piter de Vries and eventually they even managed to synthesize the Spice Melange, breaking the monopoly the planet Arrakis has on its production. Their work on genetics is at the core of their religious beliefs and they are all quite devout, and they view everyone else in the universe with a certain degree of contempt, even as they sell their creations to them.
Cast aside, as the Empire had literally thousands of worlds from which to glean billions of slaves, conscripts, enlistees and officers. Not to mention, after the destruction of the Trade Federation, they played fast-and-loose with their own laws against battle droids, mass-producing "security droids" like the KX series.
Really good video! Indeed the Kaminoans should be seen as disturbing for a Star Wars race, even above the "Mafia is a way of life" Hutt empire or the Insect Genoshians. Too bad Lucas sold to Disney or we'd get the VONG on screen.... Those are "Pinhead meets the Borg".
I mean, they were ruthless though? They hired a bounty hunter to capture Omega and planned to “dispose” of her when they were done extracting omegas DNA
Awesome video I love the design of the Kamino species such a great design for an alien. And one of my favorite sequences in the entire Saga, episodes 1 through 6. What about doing the video on the geonosians if you haven't already done one?
I wasn’t that interested in Kaminoan lives but since this was recommended and you had that awesome callback to Battlefront (the originals), I stayed. Very interesting and well explained!

Great video! The Kaminoans remind me of the Trisolarans (San-ti) from The Three Body Problem series & the Qu from The All Tomorrows series. The Trisolarans were forced to evolve in order to survive the turbulent & destructive nature of their unpredictable Three Body Star System & became ruthless conquerors in search of a new home. The Qu were merciless & horrific eugenicists that sought to spread their ideology & control across the universe, mutilating /completely altering the evolutionary path of millions of species throughout space during their reign.
With all the genetic engineering and cloning, I guess that precludes them from being force sensitive not to mention heading down the dead end of duplicative fading and extinction. Science Fiction wise, we've seen what the end result of an entire civilization of clones is. Re: The Asgard from Stargate SG-1. The Kamino are a dying people, have pity on them.

Dealing (fictionally) with eugenics is the scifi book series by Pierce Brown starts with 'Red Rising'. Or just look at eugenics as it plays out in the Star Trek universe.
I'm glad I found this cuz for a second I was thinking they were in aquatic species that eventually evolved to walk on sparse land and just branched out into the vast ocean to allow themselves to have more land but this makes more sense from a resource perspective since small surface area of land could especially depending on the climate could create a lack of genetic diversity in plants and animals meaning stuff like rubber trees might not be accessible and if that's the case creating waterproof gadgets might not be possible on water planets it is also supplies that they continuously do underwater mining which sounds dope and it's something I would like to see in terms of the process of

Ice, being solid and all, can exist above sea level.
All you'd need would be less volcanism and plate techtonics. Much smoother planet, much less land above sea-level.
You know, this species raises a great question: is survival of a species really worth it if it means becoming this? And things like this is what makes science fiction such a fun way to tell stories.
Ngl this would be a fun stellaris run.

Well, in a universe where there are lightsabers, having a four foot long neck doesn't sound like a great situation.
And yet they where basically out done, and defeated by what they consider "imperfect" races.
It must of been a heavy blow to their ego.
"No matter how many times I wash it, it still smells like fish!"...a common Kaminoan lament.
Perfection is right, the Kaminoan people look like super Greys, and the women are beautiful in an ET intriguing way.
"Kaminoans with green eyes are euthanized."

Star Wars has many parallels or inspirations from Dune
"Nothings free in Water-World."
What I want to know is what happened to the Kamenoins after the Clone Wars?
Hopefully we learn more in The Bad Batch!
They made a deal with the devil and he came to collect.
Where did the information for this video come from?
Comic book, novel?
It’s astonishingly sophisticated!
And thats my friends is why Empire is the good guys wiping all these revolting xenos for sake of Mankind first and foremost. For the Emprah!
The Yuuzhan Vong would've hated the Kaminoans, creating living beings in machines.
Surprised the Yuuzhan did not try laying waste to Kamino yet! 🤣
Of course. How else would you know if you're superior or inferior to someone? Someone has to do the icky jobs. :(
They have an elegant look imo. They are working it!
The history and culture of the Verpine would be cool, they have impressive technology.
Kamino sounds like "Caminó" which means road/path in spanish
And they were the road to the collapse of the republic. I think it was deliberate.
El Camino....
"They're ruthless towards their creations"
Omega: Am I a joke to you
That was an exception. And an individual situation.
I mean, they were ruthless though? They hired a bounty hunter to capture Omega and planned to “dispose” of her when they were done extracting omegas DNA

Great video! The Kaminoans remind me of the Trisolarans (San-ti) from
The Three Body Problem series & the Qu from The All Tomorrows series.
