This video is absolutely smashing it. Well done man, well done for being open about your mental health problems you'll have helped a lot of people with this video!
Thanks mate!!@@NeuroTechNexus
it almost looks like the adventures of mark twain, but i'm not sure!
I've studied the tiny amount of footage. They look like they're down a well and like the actor Lionel Jeffries.
I hate those cells in mh wards. Those beds😢 I was first sectioned in 1997 and it's changed so much for the worst.
@@bedwitch thank you! Tbh it’s not that bad now they used to all be dormitories but at least now they have single rooms some with a private toilet and shower. Hope you are doing well!
The times I have spent in hospital, and the staff were awful. I was constantly told that I was taking up a bed someone else needed. So I learned to say that I was fine, no matter how crappy I really was, just to get discharged
I’m really sorry to hear that. The staff obviously shouldn’t say anything like that to a patient. How are you doing now? I hope you’re okay!
That isn't right, they shouldn't be saying things like that at all. I remember telling a staff member in one hospital I was in that I felt like I could be discharged because I knew they needed the beds and she said they weren't bothered about things like that. Who are they to say which people need to have a bed? They should be focusing on the patients who are already in there. Some places have bad staff, I've had a terrible experience in one hospital but another hospital I was in a few years ago was excellent. Depends on the kind of people they have working in them, some people are just there for the easy money and so they can sit around not having to do much compared to other jobs.
I was a voluntary patient for just under 4 weeks, following a SERIOUS suicide attempt. I am a FIERCELY intelligent man, and some of the staff treated me/spoke to me like I was a CUNT. But I NEVER reacted to them/shouted at them, or CHINNED them, but I WANTED to. I SINCERELY believe and in fact KNOW (through my own personal experience) that a LOT of staff at Mental Health Hospitals, HATE THEIR JOBS/THEIR LIVES/THEIR PATIENTS. They're not all 'Saintly, and lovely.' Some are horrible unintelligent cunts. End of. Anyone find this upsetting/harsh? Your problem, and fuck off. I have LIVED through my catastrophe, and this is MY LIVED EXPERIENCE, of being a voluntary patient in a Mental health Hospital (The Maudsley) In London. If you're MASSIVELY depressed as I was, and virtually everyone else is on Carbamazepine/Olanzapine/Risperidone, and are hearing voices/seeing things (auditory & Visual hallucinations) and were frankly fucking POTTY, whilst in there, for someone like ME, who just wanted to be DEAD, it was totally and utterly ghastly, and frightening. One geezer (devoid of talent) Thought he was a famous RAPPER. Drove me round the fucking twist, he did!
So incredibly proud of you mate. Thank you for this thoroughly, well made video!
Thanks a lot my friend!!
Hi there! Thanks for sharing your experiences. I have bipolar and I've been admitted voluntary 4 times and I have to say it - you hit the nail on the head as to what it's like on a ward. Perfectly described 👍
I really do wish those windows let more air in! 🤣🤣
Hahaha those windows!!! Glad you liked the video and I hope you are doing well! Thanks for watching!! Where abouts you from?
Patients jump out of the windows if you open them.
They put those windows in, as people have managed to hang themselves from normal windows
@@taraelizabethdensley9475 wow I didn’t know that how awful! I’m glad that’s not possible at least
Thanks for being so open and sharing your experience 🙂
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
As a person whom has suffered from mental health disorders for around nearly 3 decades is tiring & I seem to question everything like society & the universe since I was a child, and nobody used to listen to me for years tbh. But eventually I began to get emotionally abused by most of my town & I ended up with PPD which manifests the most disturbing waves of paranoia, I've actually been diagnosed with nearly ten different disorders. The worst was the PPD though, I don't like diagnosing myself cause it demoralises individuals such as myself & puts you into a little square box, but overall I think it's the most appropriate one. Social anxiety or any for a matter of fact turns into paranoia which makes you lose sanity, friends family and yourself such as me become all strangers & you feel like your not allowed to talk to certain people cause they might get livid with you for saying something offensive cause of anxiety etc, so I'm paranoid about myself and everyone becomes a stranger within these concrete landscapes of no show or tell, it made me have common out of context panic attacks, mental breakdowns & proper self abuse & suicidal behaviour making you manic. I wouldn't go near windows in fear of getting a brick through my window with delusions becoming more & more painful becoming real pain, you become feeble to social situations etc. And out of all my disorders the PPD or eternal paranoia gave me 9 suicide attempts as a teenager to adult, these wounded me up in various psychiatric units throughout Manchester. And yes I do remember those endless takeaways and most of your experiences; but I used to just flush some of my medications down the toilets, I did take some but mostly got rid, I dont think it's proper help. And each time I got psychiatric talks I'd make the women or man start crying because I talked about society & the universe in such a deep way that I could take but I suppose some couldn't. But yes I like this vid, and I love your honesty if it is!
Thanks for being so honest and open my friend. I am so sorry you have had to suffer like you have. All I can say is that I hope you feel better soon. I know rejecting medication can feel like the only right choice at times but it’s the only thing that can help you. There’s only so much care and attention another human being can give. Do you take any medication at the moment? I’m on depot injection still, and though it’s not very pleasant to take it, it really does help me. I rejected the help for many years my friend. I hope you can be open to it and find some help for yourself. Thank you for your comment and very interesting story. There is always hope! Don’t give up!
@@JJArden now yes I'm getting better, I've not really taken any medication for nearly a couple of years, I may only consume if the paranoia gets too much and other disorders I have, but I've made a lot of very deep thinking friends like myself, the years are frustrating but not as frustrating as it once was; I don't believe you can ever get rid of a mental illness but you can make it better, theirs no doubt about that.
I love seeing these videos because i feel like its spreading awareness of how horrible psyche wards are. I am so sorry everyone is having such a hard time though. I am personally in a horrible homeless shelter rn while experiencing severe symptoms and i have no family. However even though it is very obvious to me @JJArden is coming from a good place, I must warn you both not to take medication. Read Robert Whitaker's book "Anatomy of an Epidemic" it asks and answers the right questions. It has been an open secret for decades that the truth is the benefits of these drugs are actually from their brain damaging effects, they mellow out psychotic symptoms by a harmful doping effect. They also create chemical imbalances that ACTUALLY CAUSE psychotic symptoms. The reason people have severe relapses is because once they are on drug the brain adapts to having the drug in its system, so when you come off things can go haywire in the brain leading to potentially very serious mental health issues. People kill themselves and others from this effect when they come off the drugs, in the worst cases so a slow tapering process is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. Dont just stop taking them cold turkey if your on them! I know this is sensitive stuff and i say these things out of love ❤
Thankyou for sharing your experience with us Josh. Respect
Thank you for watching!
Well done. Proud of you. Love you. Mum. 💞xx
Thanks mum xxx
Good on ya mum💐 jj keep on loving your self and your mum. You are doing a great thing here mate. I really hope it helps you and helps others with whatever they are going through. Good on you bud for making asking for help a little less scary for those who are frightened of reaching out. And also jj for showing others that you can come out ok and grow. Also kudos for the depo. Keep spreading the word about how helpful that is. ✌️🇦🇺
What a balanced , clear description, I think this will help many people, thank you for sharing and making this video.
This is actually a quality insight, the way you pre recorded the things you were going to discuss in the video and how it synchronises perfectly, good job mate. Seriously, I wish you the best going forward buddy.
@@brendonwilhelmi_7251 thank you so much for the kind words!
Hi
I just came across your channel. Thank you for your info on hospital stays. I have clinical depression and anxiety. Our mental health is everything. If we don't have it, we have nothing. It is still not really spoken about in society, and that needs to change. I am glad you have found something to help aid your digestion. That in itself is terrible. Thank you for sharing part of your journey, it is appreciated. Prayers
So very true! We have nothing without our mental health! Thanks for stopping by. I wish you all the best!
Thank you for sharing and the footage you filmed too.
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing.
Listen my friend thank u so much for sharing ur experience with us! Tons of prayers ur way for strength! I get they do great work but so sad how clinical/even prison like these caring wards look. I jus find it, i dunno- uncaring & friendly looking. Tbh Iam shocked they r so harsh looking. Ur a strong dude cause u came fighting back, i admire that. Again ta for ur upload m8 💪
Haha thanks a lot mate!! Yeah I agree it can feel like a prison when your in there and can be a bit of a horrible experience. But looking back on it I really did receive a lot of help from the doctors and staff and even patients which I could not have got on my own! Amazing people. Thanks again my friend all the best!!
@@JJArden ur a admiration & carry a strong positive msg but the great thing was seeing u fight back- brilliant! Very powerful video m8. #stick_with/the_winners 💪
Brilliant video mate and some top notch words of wisdom
Hahaha thanks man!!
Those pictures you drew were hilarious, mate this is really heavy shit though dude you've been through a lot I'm glad to see your doing better mate, very glad I love ya lad, but yeah gimme a text boyo xx
I spent time on a psyc ward 13 years ago. I was a volunteer patient and I really can't complain about it at all the staff where lovely and I met some some lovely people . I have seen some very poorly people aswell.
Well done!
Thank you!!!
At the end drawing on that guy, it's good you can frame it positively dude
Thank you
You’re welcome! 😊 thanks for watching!
Personally I believe every human on earth has some form of mental health. But obviously some more obvious than others amd coping differently. I know I do.
I agree
Thank you for this-most interesting it is too. I hope this fellow feels better soon. Well done anyway!!
Thanks man! I’m feeling much better now!! Hope you are well!!
@@JJArden Thank you for that. I am not too bad at the moment. Take care too!!
When you say very unwell, what where you doing? Did you see any strange stuff? Did you hallucinate? Did you have strange dreams such as out of body experience or lucid dreams? Did you go days with little to no sleep just before you got sectioned?
It was mainly the fact that I was poisoning myself with peppermint oil and not eating that was the reason I was unwell. But I may well have had delusional thoughts and hallucinations/hearing voices etc
I had fortijuice at birmingham. For weeks I was given fortisip (more like a milkshake) until I heard of the juice version and requested it.
Yeah man the juice is good I do prefer fortisip now though if I have it more like a yogurt drink
They let you have a camera in there? I thought it was not permitted. What medications did they put you on? Is it a life long medicine? After the first time did you get given meds did they prescribe pills and how did they monitor it?
I snuck a camera in this admission was in 2014 I did not have a phone then but phones are permitted with cameras on. As long as you don’t record other patients it’s not actually against the rules. I am on Zuclopenthixol under a community treatment order which means it is reviewed once a year to determine whether or not they want to keep me on it. It is administered via injection. But they did give me tablets for the side effects of this drug. I do not need to take them anymore but the side affects were bad in hospital and I needed to take them.
They probably use metal nets at the windows instead of bars because bars would allow you to break the window and use the glass for self harm.
🗣️ Keep well young man
Thanks mate!!
@duxe_tripz on Instagram Sells_Psychede this is not the place for that kind of advertising
Back in the 2000s I was on mental health wards many times. I was told by the doctors I was a 'revolving door patient' and they couldn't help me.
Sorry to hear that my friend. Have you found any help since? How is your mental health now? Hope you are doing good!
Does recreational sports amd the like not help better than medication?
I don’t really do sports but I go on long walks with my dogs and that definitely helps me
Just seen this dude really interesting vid! ollie
Thanks Ollie!!! Glad you liked it !!
Your montage of images is ACE. It's really compelling...maybe experiment with creating content without narration or with a montage of your own narration over the montage of images? It could be even more ace.
Thank you!! Yes I may well try that!!
Are all costs of hospitalization in the UK paid for by the government?
Yes unless you go private
❤️
I used to have that injection but it was awful I couldn't keep still and had a terrible distressing restless feeling, had to stop having it. its an old depot injection the newer ones don't really cause any of those problems but they're expensive that's why they try patient's on the old ones first to see if they can cope with it...I'm currently on quitiepine for schizoaffective disorder
Hay bud,.came across your vid a few days back,.what would be your advice on going into a phyc hospital for drug withdrawal,.if it was putting you in a unstable bad state of mind,do they accommodate for stuff like that
Thanks for watching mate! It’s not really the place for drug withdrawal and I have seen people come in who are going through that, but they are given some basic care and then allowed to leave. I think rehab is the best place for that kind of thing. As Mental Health Wards are designed for people with mental illnesses rather than people withdrawing from drugs.
@@JJArden cheers for the reply man,.yea I’ve had somet going on with mental health before the withdrawal bud,.half the reason i started the withdrawal, mental health is a bitch when it’s out of control
@@Dji2stellar-C no worries man! Aah right yeah man I feel ya best thing to do is see your GP if you’re suffering mate. Hope you feel better soon!
I’m probably gonna be going to prison soon. I here the mental hospital is bad however I cannot fight at all and I’m weak so will be a target in prison, is it bad I’m debating faking a mental illness to go here? People say it’s worse but personally for me (who has social anxiety and can’t talk to anyone) this place would be better
It’s definitely better than prison you are allowed your phone etc but I wouldn’t recommend faking an illness to get yourself admitted
Love you too xxx
Love you too bro! Xx
pardon me for commenting you seem like your doing well now not long before you get unescorted sec17 leave you bounceback so i hope your not wprrying whenever youre locked up
ive been sectioned 15 times now and it looks like your on an open ward maybe you been medium secure i have and sometimes tihe staff do b eat you up
the hospital your in seems good though and you are happy there
im glad because i dont think you deserve bad treatment
we would be mates i reckon if i was on your ward good man great video
we need more people like you to show what mentally ill people have to go through
Thanks mate!! Sorry to hear you’ve had bad experiences in hospital even being beaten by staff which sounds awful! All I can say is my experiences have not been too bad I suppose I’ve been lucky really to have such nice staff and friendly patients. Hope you are doing well thank you for watching!!!
Bollox, he glorified staff, we all know the staff and even the dinner ladies are cruel man, I’ve sat back and watched so many times, I’m bipolar, I’ve seen the fakers, the “newbies” and the parasites, you only glorified it, well I’m glad you had such a wonderful experience, ye fkn idiot, disgrace to real shot mf
Low resolution thinking
Hi JJ are you allowed visitors when you've been sectioned?
Yes you are allowed visitors. I was in during covid though so visitors were not allowed for some time in there because of that. I also was in a hospital that was far away from home so didn’t have any visitors during my last stay there.
Thanks for watching!
@user-kw7yk3yz4u Hi thanks for replying. Wishing you all the very best for 2023

It is amazing mate that we have the mental health act, it wont be in so many other countries people just wont be getting help
I know init man it’s definitely an amazing thing

Made 1 friend in this one. We help each other, me more as I believe it's necessary tbh
someone smelly 😂 sorry haha, but the straight face, great video mate really insighful dude, gimme a message when you can 😎
tried to escape 😂
Hahaha been in there with some right stinker trust thanks man!!!
@@JJArden hahahaha yeah that would be so grim, brave for sharing it dude! I didn't know you hadn't eaten for 2 weeks shit man, it's good to see you back dude ♥
@@NeuroTechNexus hahahahaha thanks man!!!
Are you aloud ur phone and is there a tv
Yes you are allowed your phone but if you have a long charging lead you won’t be allowed it on the ward. They will put the charger and it’s lead in a separate room off the ward where you can charge your phone. I suggest getting a smaller lead for charging your phone if you are ever looking at going to hospital, as then you are allowed to charge your phone on the ward. This is because patients use the leads to strangle themselves. There is a tv room yes but you don’t have one in your room. Thanks for watching!
Brave guy
Thank you!!
The mental health teams on and off ward are simply disgraceful
Look some people are mental ill, me too. I have to accept it. Its not easy for everybody not. During years i made some kind of peace with my illness. It is what it is. The lord is with me in good and bad times. I am what i am
Here, here sir! Good on you! Don’t let it get you down! We are human after all
I feel like he would know that term
I had an experience with bad smell once. Some idiot called allen (he was so unbathed that when he had a shower his smell would errupt) he kicked his shoes off in the tv room at arden and one time they had someone kicking off and i had 'for my own safety' go to the tv room and had to put up with the powerful foot stink for several minutes. That piece of shit is gonna... probably not be reprobated, be has issues as well. One time i was on the tv room watching the hobbit, and he came in saying he was watching 'dr who', He started wrestling me for the tv remote and i pressed the alarm for help and he flinchef and let go. I don't like Allen entirely but he probably is a cool dude.
Hahahaha sounds grim man. So bad init when there’s someone smelly on the ward. Just like jheeez man take a shower. Haha bless em probs don’t realise. How is beyond me 😂

Where i live the mental health service is a absolute joke ive been left with no medication for my mental health and left to deal witb it on my own
I’m sorry to hear that! Do you live in the UK? Don’t give up and keep on at the doctors. You shouldn’t be allowed to go on like that. Sometimes you have to keep saying the same things over and over to get anywhere, I know it can be frustrating.
I've been in 7 and most of them were fucking horrible
not me watching this in my room in a ward
You can get through this! Hope you feel better soon!

Sorry I'll stop attacking the comments now lol
@Aran Houlihan ???
Lol it’s called 1to1
I thought 1 to 1 is where you speak to a member of staff just you and them. What were you referring to?
