- I've seen a lot of mistakes in people's gear as they work on getting into the new level 80 gear and join hard content such as master mode flashpoints and veteran mode operations. Here are some examples of different ways people are gearing up this expansion and a bunch of tips on how to do it properly to save yourself time and get the best stats from your gear. Fewf. I'm glad someone thinks it is efficient/quick. I cut a lot of the recording and still felt it was too long. I had to justify the length to myself by saying people can just skip the examples section and it becomes a short video.

Tbh many people with unoptimised gear are just still working on it. I have a toon almost fully geared with thyrsian 326 (just have to swap crit relic to power one) but still leveling my armstech to hit right accu treshold so I would probably be considered as another mistake when I'm just not yet there.
Either that or they just watched this video and all the info still went r/whoosh lol.
Or they dont plan on ever running top end Operations so they know things like 110% accuracy is largely pointless. You can run Master FLashpoints with 10% acc and neve rmiss a hit. The "You need 110% acc" is a carry over from top tier Operation requirements that have little value to the content that 98% of the playerbase is running (Story, RP, Heroics and Flashpoints).

Hello, I’ve played this game really with no clue of what to do but just to have fun. I had and still don’t have any clue on the best way to get the best set up. It’s kind of frustrating, but I’ll deal with it. I finally hit level 80 and I’m going to try and understand all of the things you mentioned and see if it’ll improve my chances out there. I usually play solo and play story missions. I’m assuming that’s a person versus environment. Anyway, thanks for the video… old man playing, but love the game just want more out of it. Especially when I see others passing by with a lot of HP and stats at the same level. Have a good one.
getting yourself boosted in item rating will help! Even just picking up your first set of 320 gear off the vendor.

Well, for me with mixed gear...I don't have as much time to play anymore, so I take whatever content group content I can find and solo conquest if nothing readily available. I can't focus and farm one method of gearing if that makes sense. I take what I can get.
hey man i have a few questions. I use to be a fairly active NiM raider, but i havent played since kotfe. Is 110% accuracy still needed for ops? (at old lvl cap of 65 so i still have a bit to level before i get back into it). What is this new "tactical" slot and how do i obtain it? Also I dont remember there being a 'gold' slot for BiS gear. is that dropped by NiM op bosses or is a craftable item, and if the latter are mats/scematics obtained by some sort of op level bossing? Sorry for all the questions but im just overwhelmed honestly
Tacticals are usually bought from a vendor on the supplies section of fleet. Right now at the highest item rating there is no gold gear to wear but usually gear increases in power from green > blue > purple > gold and every new level cap the item rating increases and resets the cycle.
Really great video, got kicked off nefra couple of times because of gear and lack of good dps.

Some people don't have augments in gear that isn't maxed at 330 because its easy to forget to remove them before upgrading the gear and therefore destroy the augment.
Hello I'm just curious
I'm a guardian focus character and I just equip just the green Flashpoint gear at 340 rating o haven't augmented my gear yet but I see my damage survivability and support stats are half what I'm seeing on your examples
I have 24k dmg 15k survivability and 12k support or close
Why is this so low in comparison? Will augments really double my stats?

I found upgrading my FP gear was crazy expensive. So now I'm slowly getting my pvp gear from gsf and then looking at augments. Right now, I'm not too keen for 330, but 326 is my aim

I play on Satele Shan most of the time. I do have a toon on Star Forge I play like once or twice every 2-3 weeks
So I can’t augment a empty set and throw the mods and enhancements into it now?
Looks at my mix match set with no augments... and quietly backs out of the room to fix it.

You could just follow my video guide for solo player gearing to get 326 Nobel decurion gear and then augment that and try your luck at solo mmfp like red reaper, athiss, cadamimu
I am not gonna lie, I just cannot wrap my head to how this gear upgrade work, xD, will have to watch in repeat so some of the concepts stick on my mind XD. For now I am just finishing the story though so not really needing top gear..for now XD the 306 augmented is just good enough..for now xD

may be a dumb question, when you augment a piece of gear and then upgrade that gear, does the augment go away? do you have to take out your augments and put them into the new pieces every time?
Yep, gear upgrades eat augments. You need to remove them before clicking on the upgrade item
As far as I understand, yes, the augment disappears. You need to remove it.
when you upgrade a piece of gear that is augmented does the augment go away when it's upgraded? So if I augment a grn piece that has an augment in it and I upgrade it to blue. Does the augment carry over?
The entire piece of gear that gets upgraded gets deleted and replaced with a new piece of gear. So you will lose any augments/kits/crystals/tunings, etc inside the item. There is no way to upgrade a green piece to blue though, so only gear you upgrade at the vendor gets deleted.

Question: If you already have unupgraded 320 green veteran flashpoint gear. What should you do? Buy the conquest gear which is also 320? Pvp? I don’t have much credits so buying augments is out of the question right now.
I wouldnt worry too much about it. "upgrading gear" is mainly just something to work on to have something to do in endgame, but in reality the difference between base gear and it fully upgraded through that particular content isnt really as much as people like to believe. Its single digit % improvement. Honeslty, you can just buy a full set of base conquest gear, augment it to smooth out your stat spread and do just fine in 98% of the games content.
Also this notion that you NEED 110% accuracy is asinine and a carry over from top tier Operation requirements, which have little vaule to the core content that 95% of the playerbase is actually doing, i.e Heroics, Flashpoints and post-origins Story. I pretty much have and only run Master Flashpoints the 7 years I've played this game and I only run 105% accuracy and never miss a hit.
TLDR; Just get the base set of Conquest gear, do the content you want to do the most and upgrade peices from that little by little as you go as the improvements of fully upgrading isnt as big as most people are led to believe.

If you're a subscriber, just put on 324 gear you buy from the vendor, go get a 306 ear piece from the Spoils of war vendor, put it on, run veteran mode operations and save the first purple ear piece you get. Deconstruct the rest for currency and then upgrade that ear piece to 340. Go to hyde and zeek on fleet and pick up the quest to deconstruct an item rating 340 PROTOTYPE gear piece. Now for credits you can make a full set of blue 340 gear except your accessories. From there just slowly work on upgrading accessories.

Good video, but going into some detail might have helped. Augments and crystal stats are currently disabled in pvp, there is no crit offhand focus (force user offhand) so you have to get a purple offhand from pve. Some classes in pvp need 105 accuracy, but with purple 326 gear you end up at around 104.8 or 104.9 with 1.4 GCD and the rest in crit. For pve you could play Telekinetics / Lightning because of the class alacrity buff and have more stat budget for accuracy and crit really nice quality of life improvement/hack you could also play arsenal merc or carnage marauder for the class alacrity buff but i don't think they do as much dmg as Telekinetics / Lightning. Also, MM red reaper and Hamer station are a joke, you only really need a tank for the last boss on hammer station you can 2 man *2 comps red reaper and hammer station, you can solo red reaper, but it's a bit more difficult now and longer.
This is why I prefer modding, I don't like missing out with a few of my favorite stats for force user. Most of the new gear doesn't have what I'm built for, I also can't customize the way I want without mods. Not unless I grind for drops (Even then they might not have what I need) and I find that tedious. This whole gear drop thing is pretty annoying to me, sad they abandoned mods at a certain level.
I'm a little late to this video, it's very helpful in many ways, thanks. I will say however this is what is wrong with most MMOs now, and has been for a while. The game stops being about the quests and stops being fun because you as a player are pushed to have certain gear sets based on what someone else said. Sure, those might be best, but it takes time to get there or maybe you're just not that interested in grinding days on end for 1 gear piece.
I'm a little confused as to why you are recommending for healers having 110% accuracy?

Kind of. The green fp gear from veteran mode is useless and upgrading the blue is really expensive. So you should bother with matster mode flashpoint gear (blue) until you can upgrade it to 326.
I had the parse program running ... did a Master Flashpoint ... and was top DPS with people that had all augmented gear... I am not sure harping on "You NEED all slots filled" and Accuracy cap hit ... player skill plays into it too.

I am a healer with pvp gear, I’m at 326 with too much alacrity, what can I do?
Either swap out some alacrity gear for critical gear or just dont worry about it if you're happy with your healing. There is no proven best alacrity for healers.
Run HM ops and get the columi gear. Keep all your crit and accuracy gear and break the alacrity for tokens. All your gear drops will be 326 and should bump your crit up nicely. You then have an accuracy set if you want to dps (or the start of alt gear). HM EV and KP will drop about 10 pieces of gear alone.
I had to start again cause my Main got nerfed for PVE and it felt a bit underwhelming
Only thing i disagree with is the Alacrity comment on imp agents. I have the 5.4k alacrity mark for healing on mine for 1.3 gcd
Now if there only were OPs groups taking returning players with them.
Only advice I can give is to just ask people forming groups and explain your situation and to keep liking for a good guild. There are a few guilds that are really helpful to players less experienced.
do sentinels need alacrity?
All DPS classes need alc only sent class that could get away with less alc is prolly combat
I am sure most get the point your trying to make. The problem is that you chose to name and shame players for what they are doing. Good rule of thumb for future videos would be to cover up the names of players, turn off player tags and cover up names with another screen if your going to use their type of gearing as a method to downplay their intelligence in gearing. It is one thing to point out what is a good way and what may not be the best way, but to do it at the expense of others to get content out is not the way to go about it. You have made better videos than this, and the comment one person made here saying "this is the internet, there is no privacy" then don't jump on the bandwagon and be the better person and respect the fact that not everyone knows how to gear in 7.0. Happy to help the algorithm but that's about it.

If you are right clicking to unequip gear or remove gear from the legacy storage, you are NOT using the outfitter correctly. Heck if you have 15 "throwaway" legacy bound pieces, one for each slot for every single load out, then you don't need right click at all for gearing. You do have to have the legacy window open, but if done correctly, it will remember all 15 different equipment pieces you have.
I've encountered many bugs using loadouts to change gear that is stored in the legacy bay, I do not suggest doing this and highly suggest just moving gear into your personal inventory to avoid potentially having a bug permanently delete your gear.
if your already 326 then why would you need to do master flashpoint,? im little confused to that part of your video
Just personal preference on how you want to get gear for other characters if you don't want to keep sharing gear between every level 80.

Alacrity gear seems to be quite high drop rate, at least for me. About 2/3rds of all gear i get is alacrity based.
I got 320 CQ gear for my main then upgraded all of it to 322 grinding aquatics. I then had a few bits of 324 plus my gold implants and went into gsf, which i grinded like hell. I then passed the gear set to the next toon, rinsed and repeat. I ended up with a complete 326 gear set pretty quickly with a few spare bits. HM ops followed by more gsf have geared my other alts. All with correct alacrity and accuracy. My main is working on full 328 rakata now. Only took a few weeks.
So what you’re saying is there is zero chance for me to do MMFP’s since I’m not sitting on 400 billion credits to buy augments
i’ve been doing mmfp’s without augments! just depends on your team, and depends on the fp. but it’s totally possible to do them smoothly
As a general rule of thumb you wont have a good experience with activity finder. But there are definitely still ways to play and enjoy master mode flashpoints if you can find a good group of people. That topic is a little too complex to cover in this video.

Augment prices on the GTN are ridiculous right now.
What are they up to now? I know on my server (SS) they were down to about 20-25m for a while, but I assume they're higher now

or you got people like me who really doesnt pay attention to stats or my gear i just roll with what workin for me mainly just story and pve stuff lol
gear in swtor is largely pointless. HM raid progression isn't really a thing. and if you're in the tiny subset of people who do do that... there's only like a tiny handful of guilds and groups that can routinely field a function OP group do do... higher lvl progression.... So you're in one of those guilds that has that kind of dedication most likely already min/maxxed.
i think the shift from mods to fixed gear has just made people sorta give up. the GSF/pvp gear track to 326 purples (and now what...328 purples) seems fine. for like 95% of content. and prior to 7.1 people farming NIM cheese bosses was the "upgrade path"
and even plowing the credits into augmenting gear seems rather pointless.
dont do what I did and spend like 100 mill credits on 258 crafted gear not knowing you can easily do conquests or heroics to get like 320 gear KEKW
Why bother with upgrading gear to 326 at all? Upgrade so u have 322 average and do the Q and just buy 330 blue mods. Way faster and easier

PvP gearing in this expansion is pretty easy. Get PvP gear, upgrade said PvP gear = done. Well aside from some of the bugs that certain things give stats they arent supposed to give....
Can't be fucked gearing in this game anymore. Same with them augments! I just get the vender gear and I'm done. I'm not doing any endgame stuff or pvp so I don't see any point. Playing it like a singleplayer Bioware game now. Too many toxic elitists in this game.
I dont care about the total shit they done wirh gearing. I just use my old garbage 306 and its fine.
Yeah, the max 306 gear performs pretty good at level 80. It's not as strong as getting the 336 gear, but it's better than the starter 324 set by a lot.
You should black out these player's names.
Its bad enough we have to deal with people streaming our gameplay and making videos with us in them without us even knowing, but to be criticizing people's gear with their names clearly visible is honestly pretty fucked up.

I can tell you why this happens with a lot of people I know, me including. the game doesn't explain much but also we're being forced into raid/pvp content we don't want to play and we don't care or give af about any of it outside of unlocking whatever then never looking at it again. BUT, ther is also more games and other things to do in life so it's not too important to dedicate our l ife to gearing perfectly or making sure to please randoms we play with. If they made it so all the gearing was fast and easy outside of PVP and operations more people would try it. I have garbage items and I've been playing since launch. I dont' do well with others and I don't like pvp at least in swtor. I do like it in games designed entirely around it but swtor is for star wars not taking pvp as a serious activity.

It's funny that you assume everyone in the game are running or plan on running Operations lol. Unless you plan on doing Veteran/Master Operations, you dont NEED 110% accuracy. This notion is a carry over from top tier Operation requirements to offset operation boss's 10% chance to defend passive that have little value on the core gameplay that 98% of the playerbase is actually doing (post-origins Story, RP, Flashpoints and Heroics). And thus you are stacking a stat that has little value being that high, vs stacking more Crit, Power or Mastery etc that will actually benefit you. I've ran Master Flashpoints for years with only 102% accuracy at max and never missed a hit.
