      Literally the first time I talked to him all I could think was "tiny dick complex". Also, I always loved his quest; he basically tells you "hey, making a replica of an ancient (low quality) steel (easy material) battling sword (little detail) is difficult, how about you go into a cave infested with necromancers/frost zombies/bandits/robots/bears/all of the above to get the original thing? I can pay you by teaching you a tiny bit about smithing! SMITHING!"

    • @RyanKaufman
      @RyanKaufman 6 років тому +69

      The cap is far too low though. Elven armor is able to hit the cap, which is quite silly and makes the higher tiers of armor and heavy armor almost entirely useless. So you take 18 damage at the cap, why not make it so the cap is doubled and you only take 9? For some weak enemies this might mean you take very little damage at all, that's a pretty small price to pay for making the heavier and end tiers of armor actually viable.
      Also the amount of perks that are ineffective or downright broken is inexcusable. "Five years of lies" is very apt.

      @ anderson Souse. In real life you also only see yourself in mirrors and yet you care to look good. I see and experience those similarities myself. Art makes games more enjoyable and it does not really matter it just takes place in your head or if you can see it through your eyes.
      Now that i mentioned mirrors, why do we almost never see any mirrors in games that offer a 1st person perspective? they could even add npc behavour that say "you look terrifying, stay away from my children" and other unique lines depending on the stuff you wear. But those phrases should not be used to often, npcs saying the same thing all the time dont provide the thought about them being humans.

    • @joeriandries
      @joeriandries 7 років тому +5

      Steve Gee how about they'dd just make a light armor/mixed armor cap and than a heavy armor cap? that seems most logical to me because heavy armor is supposed to be for those who choose a fighting style in which they get hit alot and light armor is supposed to be for those who want to dodge alot. atleast that's what it seems like to me. they should also make sure that you atleast need some potions or other boosters to get to the armor cap in my opinion... what else is the use of getting 100 smithing and 100 heavy/light armor skills other than getting more perk points...?

    • @matthewmcnamara2306
      @matthewmcnamara2306 6 років тому +1

      Steve Gee not so. Just place a percentage limit on how much any singular item can be improved. The issue currently is that you can upgrade a single item to hit the armour cap. If you play things right you can run around with hide bracers on while the rest of your body is naked and still have an overall rating of 567. The way to solve this would actually be to set a limit on the percentage increase per item. A single algorithm would solve it all. For instance. If the general algorithm limited it to 5x. Set the base defence of Deadric to 100 and the max would be 500. Etc etc. With the breastplate taking up 300. The boots 100. Helmet and gauntlets 50 each. That's just an example because I couldn't be bothered doing the math to work out the percentages of 567. Essentially with a fixed percentage increase you get a scaled armour system. All issues solved

      You can get the cuirass (chest) in the beginning of the game during riften during the horse frost quest. Get 6 of them if I remember correctly. Plus it’s a minimal good looking armor that fits a lot of looks. Plus plenty of characters wear the armor especially at like level 20.

      @@vdoxsamp7283 Try training your smithing skill. Unmodded, you'll find nordic carved armor in Advanced Armors on the light armor side of the perk tree. The Nordic Carved chest is one of the most valuable pieces in the game, relative to the rarity of its material costs, and can gain a lot of value from upgrading, which makes it one of the best ways to train smithing the rest of the way, as well as being IMO one of the better looking heavy armors available and having some of the best looking weapons as well. In terms of where to find it without crafting, hit a bunch of bandit camps. Bandit leaders at high enough level will often sport a near-complete set plus matching weapons.

  • @XxXRlGOXxX

    The armor types lack balance. Light armor has been obviously favored. I say the armor cap for light armor should be lower, or heavy armor cap should be higher. It just doesn't make much sense that light armor designed for versatility is as protective as a super thick and heavy metal plate. I mean come on wheres the love for badass heavy armor using warriors. Also, its not a waste to get the parks for ebony/daedric smithing, because while upgrading your armor past the armor cap is pointless, there is no cap for physical weapon damage, and daedric weapons does considerably more damage than steel.

      one of the biggest mistakes in this video (aside from saying that magic resistance is important dispite the fact that spell absorption is better because it can actually scale to 100%) is ignoring all the useful unique heavy armour sets and pieces you can get your hands on, ahzidals boots of water walking alone are reason enough to go heavy over light.

You'll be running away with your tail inbetween your sneaky little Khajit legs like all the rest of those milk-drinkers with the Dark Brotherhood & Thieves Guild... ***** It's not tedious at all but that mostly comes out of my not using a fast travel mod. Without fast travel a in game day becomes very long. I'd say that my character needs to eat, drink and sleep every 40 minutes or so. (INeed mod) Building into it, the Frostfall mod doesn't really do much either besides lower your skills when your character gets cold. So it's more of a mechanic, rather than a must. You can ignore the cold, but it will have negative effects on your skill. You can turn it off and on however often you want, so there is no negative in installing it either. Even if you do want to uninstall it, it doesn't corrupt your save file. So try it out and see if you like it.

    Honestly it depends on the build. For a warrior, I highly reccomend to get the Steed Stone and go with heavy. The Steed stone gives you more weight, and when you wear a full heavy set it completely gets rid of the weight. It also gets rid of the movement speed decrease when you wear heavy. It is a good stone and Its my main stone for my main account. It is just north east of Solitude and is easy to get to and find bcs if you fast travel the icon on the compass shows up instantly. For other builds, maybe use light. Right now I am building a stealth archer for the first time. Hoped this helped all you fellow warrior users ❤❤

    Getting over 567 does have a tiny use because if the enemy has armor penetration it attacks as though you had 20% less armor for example if your new armor rating is still equal to more than 567 your physical damage resistance will still be maxed.
    Most enemies in skyrim don't use armor piercing though. Watch out for high level warhammer wielders.

    Since this is an old video, i re-tested everything on PS3 and the armor cap still is 567 (80%). However, you need to spend more perk points in the light/heavy armor tree to acheive the cap than you see on this video, so getting Ebony or Glass isn't a waste of points considering you also upgrade better weapons.
    Also, its possible to achieve the armor cap with the Light Ancient Shroud armor with the same amount of perk points as Glass (9) even though you only upgrade it to flawless, assuming your only using 100 Smithing and Light Armor.
    IMO, Alteration>Light Armor>Heavy Armor.
    With Alteration, you just need to get the Dragonhide spell at master level and it will get you to the 80% cap, no need to grind Smithing skill to 100 and waste a load of perk points on armor skills. It also levels up very fast compared to armor skill.
    Your character won't have any armor noise penalty for stealth and moves at 100% speed without spending more perk points. You also have the "Magic Resistance" perks that can boost up to 30% magic resistance.

    • @NordicEagleVids
      @NordicEagleVids 9 років тому +4

      Alteration is awesome indeed, too bad it scales horribly earlygame and it is hard to get a decent armor rating below level 10-15 using alteration, late game it is awesome however :)
      Only thing i hate about it is having to recast it in mid fights :)

    • @paulopais2087
      @paulopais2087 9 років тому +2

      NordicEagleVids Yes you are right, the recast thing every 30sec (45 with stability) makes it boring to use and that 4/5 sec charge before cast makes it worse although you can mitigate it with slow shout. It works very well with a one-hand dual wield character build since you kill enemys very fast.
      Another build that works very well with alteration is the basic Sword and shield (One-hand and Block), the 30% magic resistance and the 50% from the Block skill perk makes you acheive the 80% magic cap, add the shield Spellbreaker and you are pretty much magic-proof.

    • @NordicEagleVids

For example, there´s a perk upgrading the "eagle-eye" zoom by reducing the amount of stamina needet and slowing down time by 25% while doing it. However, the second level of this perk is not only supposed to slow the time by 50% which actually works, but also to make you consume no more stamina at all for zooming. This second part just doesn´t work which is very sad because unlimited zooming at slow motion is quite a powerfull skill...

      well remember the acrobatics skill was there and with maxed skill level you could jump buildings almost like you were the hulk jumping around the place

      the perk never said it would stop using stamina altogether at rank 2

      +Kapello Mg you know it can be upgraded and has the the most powerful enchantments, for a duel wielding warrior. And it has the armour of daedric without enchantments

      Lone Hound most powerful enchantments? the carrying capacity can easily be overthrown by one enchantment on whatever piece of gear, my boots give me +41 carrying capacity (not to mention my gauntlets, ring and necklace giving me an additional +41 each) and I don't even have the left side of enchanting perks. as for the dual wielding, you can have much more one-handed boosts, I for example have +44% of one-handed damage on my boots, gauntlets, ring and necklace. waterbreathing can easily be put on any item, really.. I don't know about stamina, though. but +40 ain't that much, bet you could top that as well. You must be talking about the most powerful *unique* armor in the game?
      edit: not to mention the horrible looks of it, got myself some Legendary Stormcloak armor with an armor rating of 750 ^-^ excl. shield

    Use what you find fun and think looks cool. This goes for weapons as well. You can use smiting to buff armor and damage of any weapon to max.
