It's a nice list and I don't disagree that these armors are great. I'm kind of sad that my favorites, Stahlrim and Amber, weren't on the list. I also like the Saint's and Seducer's armor but those don't look good on male characters. Real ninjas wear blue so not to stand out from the silhouette of the moon so I wish there was a navy blue version of the stealth armor but I love the fact they are black. Great video. I like where your head is at with your list. :)
Not sure if anyone said it but Dedric armor has a hidden enchantmen/mechanism. When you use the intimidate option it will have a higher chance of being successful and increase speech
I was going to mention it if no one else did. It not only looks cool, it serves as enemy radar. Even though it's not a set, you can get the matched set perk with it since patch 1.9 by using it with ebony armor pieces.
The best armor is the stuff you craft yourself. Max Blacksmithing and placing two enchants on each item with top-tier enchanting level will give you better armor bounuses than anything you find via exploration or quest-lines. This also gives you the ability to mix-match armor pieces appropriate to your character for role-play/immersion purposes.
yeah but like the thieves guild armor is unique and immersive to my usual builds (you can guess what it is)+thieves guild best build+thievs guild solos+drip
@@altabalder what? No shit you can upgrade armors but im pretty sure the og comment was saying stuff you craft yourself as in like steel, glass, daedric, dragonbone, etc.
@@Vinnare Armor rating wise it doesn't make that much of a difference But yea the enchantments are what take the upper hand Also, not all armor pieces can be upgraded; Miraak's mask for example, can't.
I really like the Nordic Carved Armor. Some things just look and feel 'right'. I eventually moved on to the Dragonbone armor, but it did make me sad to give it up.
Same :D Nordic Carved Armour then onto Dragonplate, enchanted to max out Health and Stamina Regeneration and Magic Resistance... wielding a shield and axe and running around jumping of things into the middle of combat :D

I kinda wish getting it was a little more climactic, it feels like you didn’t really have to work hard for it, it’s just kinda like, “oh hey Karliah, you got some homies who want to be Nighingaled? Aight then, sounds good”
I think that Daedric vs Nightingale would be interesting because Daedric is more a destruction type of armor and Nightingale is a sneaky type of armor.
I'm surprised Ebony Mail didn't make the list. Not many heavy armors tailor made for sneaking. The shadows that grow when crouched are a nice touch too
I wear General Tulliis’ armor and use the Imperial Dragon Shield. Looks nice together. General Tullius’ armor can be upgraded and enchanted, which appealed to me more so than Imperial Dragon, already enchanted. To compliment, Leather Scout Boots and Gauntlets. These soft leather accessories match perfectly and can be upgraded and enchanted as desired. The gloves allow the finger tips to grip the bow string, oddly that detail is required for my characters. Although they’re typically Stamina builds. I just like to run like the wind. 😊
Well yeah, I personally think Nightengale is the best looking, except when I'm clothing my companions. Then I stick them in buffed up Forlorn...uhhh...just because.
I like the Royal Vampire Armor, its light and with some leather smithing it is easy to upgrade. You can find plenty of un-enchanted boots, gloves that you can upgrade.
I like to mix and match sets. Penitus Oculatus, Elven and Stalhrim for light. Ebony, Daedric and Wolf for heavy. The Jagged Crown and Imperial Shield go well anytime ^^
At the end of the Boethiah's Calling quest your given a ebony set with a ebony mail chestplate that, when crouching or in combat, turns the whole set pitch black. None of the other pieces are enchanted so you can put anything you like, making it potentially the best heavy stealth armor possible

I knew what you'd choose as a number one after hearing about numbers 8 and 7 I personally like Daedric armor the most from vanilla Skyrim (it's black and red draconic design is something else) and I really like the Dawnguard heavy armor from the DLCs. Can't say about AE stuff though haven't tried most of it yet

One that I like to do when starting out for the Thieves Guild is a set of sneaky Glass Armor mixed with Krosis' Dragon Priest mask. The color of the mask mixes well with Glass Armor's gold-ish highlights. But my favorite has to be either the Nightingale Armor or the Deathbrand Armor.

You dont need to glitch in Blackgaurd armor, just get the key to the blacksmiths house in Raven Rock and you can get it. You need to be in the thieves guild though
You don't even need to JOIN the Dark Brotherhood to get the Ancient Shrouded. Just go to Hag's End, use the Ritual Stone, then exit through the front door, and all the bodies you raised will follow you out including the Ancient assassin. Just wait an hour/Un-raise him and take the armor. Edit: Also there's a hidden buff to the Full set of Daedric armor (Not sure if it works with the Alternative Armors Daedric stuff) that makes Intimidation checks 10% easier, alluding to the fact that your armor is terrifying! XD
Thank you! My sneaky character evolved into being an ex-Thief post-Thieves Guild questline, so joining the Dark Brotherhood makes no sense for her (though would be tempting for her)
Ebony mail is really good. Looks good. Plus the poison effect and sneak are good perks. Hate the smoke though when sneaking, makes it harder to see when using archery
Nightingale armor is by far my favorite in the game. I get it every time I play the game and wear it as often as possible. Even if there were no bonuses I'd still use it.
Left out the Civil War Champions armor sets and they should have absolutely been placed somewhere on this list. Both sets are phenomenal in both armor rating and enchantments. I personally prefer the Imperial Champion set, plus with them being upgraded to legendary, the armor rating on top of the enchantments practically make your character godlike. Not to mention the shields and weapons that come with them.
you can get the ancient shrouded armour without even starting the dark brotherhood questline. To do this, you just need two wooden plates, platters, buckets, cauldrons or other wall glitching items, then against the wall of where the ancient assassin is, just hold the item up to it and walk/ run. You need at least two so you can get in and out without trapping yourself.
I wear Daedric armour for my tank build, with double enchantments for health regeneration and magic resistance on jewellery - makes the character virtually invulnerable to magic whilst being able to shrug off most melee attacks. For my stealth mage build though, I don’t even wear armour: just robes with magicka perks on it. I guess the best armour is whatever suits your build best, but ultimately crafting and enchanting your own is far better than anything you pick up.
I recently acquired the ebony mail armor in Boethiah. When enemies are nearby, it has a cool black mist coming off it which is poisonous. So it's like a built-in alarm where enemies are nearby. Makes you look like a ninja all dressed in black 😂
Quick tip on the daedric armour you can get it at the very start in the college of winter hold basement through the vigil stone you will need void salts daedric hearts and a filled grand soul gem if you want daedric weapons you will also need a silver sword, (quick save when all ingredients are in the box and keep getting pieces till you get what you want, you need level 90 conjuration just spam soul trap on a dead mud crab
I really like the guild master armor, just feels really cool with the all black without looking super exquisite like nightengale or ebony but don't get me wrong they are cool just prefer the other. The Telvanni robes with dragonplate gauntlets and boots with the konahrik mask is really cool i find that on a female with the heart stone holder it looks really good.
For the guild master armor complete the thieves guild quest line, and do five misc jobs for Delvin in each hold. Then complete each special mission in each hold. For telvani robes complete neloth's quests and eventually he'll give you a mission to kill his old apprentice. She is wearing the robes and just take them off her corpse. (Note. The robes are unobtainable if you have the skyrim unnoficial patch) For konahrik find all dragon priest masks and take them to the bust room in labarinthian
right? I feel like everyone looks over the Guild Master Armour but I love it, it was the first set I saw on Delvin, Vex, etc and I was like yes I need this immediately
Something worth mentioning about the Nordic Carved weapons is that the Advanced Armors are part of the light armor path. So while Nordic Carved may not be the best heavy armor it also isn't the worst and could be valuable to light armor players as you could still extra enhance it with smithing and give it to a heavy armor ally.
It's a shame that you can't opt to get armour sets without the enchantments. I would love to use Her Hand's armour set for heavy and Nightingale for light, as they are the coolest looking sets in their respective class without any doubt, but they already come with enchantments which are just so weak compared to what a player can craft themselves.
@@TrezenEN during the CC quest associated with the Armor (which can be started by visiting the temple in solstheim and reading the note in the first room on the left) you can get I think 2 full sets for free in the armoury along with the Indoril armour. Just play through the tribunal quest and you’ll get it close to the end after collecting 2 of the masks
I love nightingale armor. I have my game modded but still choose it over all the other ones. The only armor you didn't mention- probably because it's ONLY the torso armor- is ebony mail. I use that sometimes because the poison enchantment is amazing.
Ebony mail and mask of claviscus vile is pretty dope end game I’m uasally wearing jagged crown With dragonbone armour for matching set and you can wear the Athenriam crown with the jagged crown
I know its not enchanted but thats kinda why i love the Ancient Falmer Armour set. I get to put my best enchants on it, and it looks absolutely sick. Yknow....for when you dont wanna wear black. so seriously no love for Ancient Falmer? its just me?
My favorite of all time is the thieves guild master armor. It just fits in so well with whatever type of character you are playing. It is light weight, made of leather and has pouches built into the design and is nearly strapped on and doesn't have a lot of low hanging pieces like robes do or over sized armor like the dardric armor does. You can play as a bandit, a thief, a hero , a pirate, a mercenary, archer. Doesn't matter. The outfit aesthetically fits all of them and just feels so cool to wear and makes you look like an important bad ass.
Once you get a high smithing level, armor rating doesn't matter - damage reduction is capped at 80%, and you can get there by improving even light armor. You just need to reach 567 displayed armor rating with 4 pieces of armor, 542 if you add a shield. Each armor piece has a hidden 25% damage reduction in addition to it's displayed armor rating, that's why the displayed number needed is lower when you add the shield.
So, visually, if you take the noridc carved armor and replace the helmet with the nightingale helmet, you look like death reincarnated. Its my favorite appearance that i wear every playthrough
Nightingale is the best armour for STEALTH players. It has incredibly low armour stats so most other builds wont be helped by it. I reccomend madness or deadric armour for all around the best durability.
I get everyone likes the Nightingale and Daedric armors for how they look, myself being included. But Azhidal's armor has some crazy enchantments on it that let you walk on water, can paralyze enemies who attack you, let your wards absorb magic, which when combined with certain other perks can totally nullify spellcaster enemies outright, and boost your enchanting. Also, Indoril's armor has the highest base armor rating in the game. So yeah, saying the Nightingale set is the best is obviously a biased remark when there are many other possible sets that do a better job of spicing up your gameplay while also keeping you protected.
I shouldn't rag on you about sneeking about like a little rat, but, I'm a rush in with SHOCK and AWE !!! and destroy all before me kind of dude. This is an OUTSTANDING and AWESOME VIDEO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dwarven Armor is my favorite! Unique helmet, Visage of Mzund with increased Stamina and a steam shout! Also look closely at the helmets face, it changes expression if your character is male or female. The Armor itself looks amazing and goes well with many of the uniques in the game. Spellbreaker Shield Volundrung Warhammer. Black Bow of Fate Enhanced Dwarven Crossbow.
There are 4 relevant categories for armor 1. Weight 2. Damage reduction 3. Magic effect 4. Optics. Damage reduction is only even relevant when you are under the armor cap. If we ignore infinite loops, you can achieve armor cap with steel or better for heavy and with dragonscale for light armor. Since Dragonscale is the lightest armor in the game that can reach the cap and it also benefits from the doging perk of the light armor skill tree, it is the best armor by the first two categories. No questions open. Sadly, there is no real good set of armor considering magic effects. The best are always the ones you enchant yourself at 100 enchantment skill. Since you can do this to any unenchanted armor, dragonscale stays best. Though, there are quite a few armors with unique effects, (ebony mail for example) but they are generally not really usefull, sadly. Optics is a subjective category. But tbh, most armors look cool in this game.
You can reach the armor cap with leather armor without the restoration-potion loop by using a combination of smithing, alchemy, and enchanting. I forget whether I had it there without wearing all four pieces or not and whether or not the Matching Set perk was even used that build.
@@Trephining I took my info from the wiki and did not test it myself. Afaik, the loop is between enchanting and alchemy that boost each other, until at one point, you break the loop and enchant something with smithing bonus at a level you like. At this point, every armor can be improved to reach the cap.
This is my list in no particular order: Ancient Falmer, Dawnguard Heavy, Dragonplate, The classic studded armor with iron gauntlets, boots, and helmet, Banded Iron, Ebony, and the Robes.
If you bother fortifying your smithing skill, it doesn't really matter what armor you wear, because you can reach the armor rating cap pretty easily. This means elven armor is arguably the best armor, because you can get the elven smithing perk quite early, and it's so light.
Nightingale armor also comes with standardized tiny blue lights for eyes...If you're an NPC, they will be the last thing you never see. (And if you join the Dark Brotherhood, you can get the best horse in the game, Shadowmere...and he's the best ride a Nightingale could find. Not to mention the matching bow and sword with the spread wing ornamentation. Nocturnal would be proud.
I choose daedric because of 2 reasons: 1, when fully upgraded with the right enchantments and a maxed heavy armor skill, you are basically a walking tank. 2, hidden intimidation bonus and it looks cool
I always thought the ebony amatory you got from the daedric quest that makes you go black when crouching and drains health permanently when people are close was the coolest
i love the thieves guild, i also like to play Skyrim as if im living a real life in the game.(i even use survival mode). nightingale armor has such good buffs and looks, but uh, it feels like it stands out way too much in the crowds!!! I always stick to standard leather thieves guild armor set
I mean, you're not wrong about putting the fear of god into people with the Daedric Armour. It has a hidden passive set bonus that raises your Intimidation success rate
My favorite is that ebony armor that poisons nearby enemies. One of my favorite builds is the "Covid-Laced Leonidas" where you have it on, and have no weapon besides shield bashing. And you just crouch + block towards hoards of enemies like a spartan from "300" and bash them to death and give them covid with the ebony armor I mentioned.
My favorite combination is amber armour with the dragon priest mask that lets you breathe under water, then I enchant the rest of the armour for 150% magic protection, 100% extra bow damage, 100% easier lock picking, and 100% fortify magicka and stamina
I have the legendary edition on the PS3 and the only thing I hate about the blackguard armor is the fact that the gloves actually have a lower armor rating than the thieves' guild ones (unless they fixed that in newer versions) also who the hell sells the death brand stuff even if I don't use it (cause you can easily enchant better stuff) I still store it as part of my collection horde lol
I love the nightingale armor it’s seriously my favorite set by far. You have to wear the full set to get the most benefit, also love the nightingale blade too

@@PicklePugz Same here, they just screamed rogue character.
Ancient Falmer armor with Aetherial crown 🤝
It's a shame that you can't opt to get armour sets without the enchantments. I would love to use Her Hand's armour set for heavy and Nightingale for light, as they are the coolest looking sets in their respective class without any doubt, but they already come with enchantments which are just so weak compared to what a player can craft themselves.
Her hand armour can be crafted in the misc section of the forge
@@Dinosaurman34 seriously?! I will give it a go now. Ta!
I go with the Vampire armor. Light, easily reaches the 567 cap, and doesn't scream "I'm somebody!" 😉
The blades armor plus any Dragon Priests mask is just first off pretty high armor rating ALSO it just looks so friggin cool..
I rock steel armor asap.
I wear Nordic Carved most of the game.
I wear dragon bone armor towards the endgame.
Can anyone tell me what song is used for the intro? I think it's a remix of "He's a Pirate" but I can't find the exact one.
High defense is what matters when choosing armor. It doesn't matter how it looks if you are dead
I love the way Ancient Nord Armor looks on my female Nords. As for my male characters I always put them in Dragon Bone or Daedric Armor.
Great choices!!
I love nightingale armor. I have my game modded but still choose it over all the other ones. The only armor you didn't mention- probably because it's ONLY the torso armor- is ebony mail. I use that sometimes because the poison enchantment is amazing.
Dragon plate just makes you look heavy asf and dangerously calm
😂😂
Ebony mail and mask of claviscus vile is pretty dope end game I’m uasally wearing jagged crown With dragonbone armour for matching set and you can wear the Athenriam crown with the jagged crown
Fantastic set up!
I'm loving the ebony spell knight armor. The two other variant's look awesome but there's just something about that black and gold.
So, visually, if you take the noridc carved armor and replace the helmet with the nightingale helmet, you look like death reincarnated. Its my favorite appearance that i wear every playthrough
That black armor in the clck bait was so cool it remeinds me alot of noob saibot from mortal kombat 3
I really like the armor you get from Vyrthur even though it's not a complete set.
I actually think Linwe’s armor is the best thieves guild armor. I like the enchantments better than black guard armor
Nightingale is the best armour for STEALTH players. It has incredibly low armour stats so most other builds wont be helped by it. I reccomend madness or deadric armour for all around the best durability.
Best armor for atheistic is silver armor with the hood from the leather scout set.
steel plate armor is the sexiest looking armor in the game can’t change my mind
I get everyone likes the Nightingale and Daedric armors for how they look, myself being included. But Azhidal's armor has some crazy enchantments on it that let you walk on water, can paralyze enemies who attack you, let your wards absorb magic, which when combined with certain other perks can totally nullify spellcaster enemies outright, and boost your enchanting. Also, Indoril's armor has the highest base armor rating in the game. So yeah, saying the Nightingale set is the best is obviously a biased remark when there are many other possible sets that do a better job of spicing up your gameplay while also keeping you protected.
this video is so good guys thanks. none of my favorite armors are in it tho
Thanks a lot mate!
I know it is not the best "protective " armor, but goddamn that Nightingale armor looks dope.
You know you could just use 5 minutes to help glover mallory and you get a key to get blackguard armour if you get his recipe.
Haha I know, I just love glitching 😂
What recipe?
Totally agree, i have the exact armor in every character that i have, nice and badass looking
Haha love this comment, thanks so much!
Dwarven Armor is my favorite!
Unique helmet, Visage of Mzund with increased Stamina and a steam shout!
Also look closely at the helmets face, it changes expression if your character is male or female.
The Armor itself looks amazing and goes well with many of the uniques in the game.
Spellbreaker Shield
Volundrung Warhammer.
Black Bow of Fate
Enhanced Dwarven Crossbow.
Madness good for heavy plus cool design ☻️
I agree! Great design!
Enchanted Spell Night Armor > Nightingale Armor ... but then again, every armor type has its uses.
Very true
I always loved the Wolf armor from the companions...I just hate the helmet..besides that I'm working on different armor.
Awesome!
You don't need the helmet to pass the 567 cap. I wear a enchanted circlet instead ... works just fine.
Can’t go wrong with the Blades armour!
There are 4 relevant categories for armor
1. Weight
2. Damage reduction
3. Magic effect
This is my list in no particular order:
Ancient Falmer,
Dawnguard Heavy,
Dragonplate,
The classic studded armor with iron gauntlets, boots, and helmet,
Banded Iron,
Ebony,
and the Robes.
I only fashion the Skaal Armor with that bear hat… sick!
Love Skyrim armour! Dragonscale for me!
💃🏼💃🏼
My favorite is glass armor. I thought it has always looked badass. It was my go to being a sneak.
It does look pretty badass!
Dragonscale Amour and Wolf Amor
I always thought the ebony amatory you got from the daedric quest that makes you go black when crouching and drains health permanently when people are close was the coolest
i love the thieves guild, i also like to play Skyrim as if im living a real life in the game.(i even use survival mode). nightingale armor has such good buffs and looks, but uh, it feels like it stands out way too much in the crowds!!! I always stick to standard leather thieves guild armor set
My favorite armor has to be the Imperial Dragon Armor from Anniversary Edition
Awesome video ! I mostly use Aetherial crown , master robe , daedra mail gaunlets , and black college boots
I mean, you're not wrong about putting the fear of god into people with the Daedric Armour. It has a hidden passive set bonus that raises your Intimidation success rate
I've always loved the Vampire Royal Armor that you can find in the Volkihar castle. It's the same armor that Serana wears.
I'm a big fan of Ebony Armor with the closed imperial helmet
Yessss!
I always loved the look and feel of glass armor.
Dawn guard heavy armor looks awesome
Yes!
