    The season starts with Tywin Lannister melting Ned's sword, at the peak of his power. Renly killed, Stannis defeated, Robb Stark murdered, Greyjoys almost forced out of the North...it felt like House Lannister was finally the unchallenged master of the Seven Kingdoms. The season ends with Tywin's downfall, not at the hand of any enemy, but brought down by his own hubris, murdered by his own son. During the last moments of his life Tywin finally has to come to terms with the fact that his grandchildren are bastards of incest.For someone who valued family legacy more than the actual family, that had to be a devastating blow knowing the Lannister line had no legitimate heirs to the throne. His victory is built on quicksand. This episode is fittingly titled "The Children" for the Children of the Forest, but it's also about Cersei, Jaime and Tyrion each in their own ways rebelling against the Lannister patriarch, with the last one ending up being fatal. A season ago Tyrion had a great line, "Seven Kingdoms united in the fear of Tywin Lannister". Tywin held together a country in civil war with sheer force of personality. With him gone, The Children have inadvertently opened up Varys' "gaping pit" which can swallow them all.

    One of my top 3 favorite finales. Tywin played his last game of thrones on a throne. You win or you die.
    Fun fact: the finale aired on Father’s Day in 2014.
    Another Emmy Award worthy performance for Peter Dinklage! The reason he didn’t leave immediately was Tyrion wanted to confront Tywin on why he sentenced him to die knowing he was innocent. Tyrion was willing to risk his chance of escape to gain closure on the issue.
    Some months later after Father’s Day, they showed the last two episodes of Season 4 in select IMAX theaters! The surround sound system was incredible! Because of that and even though I already seen it, the sound of that crossbow going off startled me! Jumped out of my seat a little.

    "Where did Stannis get the money"
    From the Bank of Bravos. Davos confirmed it when he tossed a gold coin to that one black pirate dude Salador during that episode. You gotta read between the lines. If you're wondering what Stannis is doing in the North, you have to rewind the finale of last season.
    The dead people are not white walkers. They are "wights", basically dead humans resurrected by the touch of white walkers. So depending on how long they've been dead, their reanimated bodies are in different levels of decomposition. Some are just bones.
    "He had to have known"
    It was more of a self denial thing. Tywin, like everyone else, had heard the rumors. Tywin was smart enough to put 2 and 2 together, but he never really did because he WANTED to believe it wasn't true. And maybe deep down he convinced himself.
    The bells tolling to signify The Hand has been found, is such a great shot. Hearing the bells even Varys decides to up and leave, the game isn't worth his skin, which shows just how important this death is. Make no mistake, no death up to now is more signifcant than Tywin's. The background music at the end is so freakin good, sucks thar Kendall kept ruining the poignant moment by yelling a buncha stream of consciousness about Shae lmao.

I mean how else would the almighty Tywin Lannister die, but in the most undignified manner? Went out on the shitter like Elvis, Happy Father's Day! You’re right The Hound and Arya should have joined up with Brienne and Podrick it would have been amazing but unfortunately Brienne did a terrible job at explaining to herself. To be fair I know that like in the books the Hound had to die so Arya could go to Braavos so he had to lose that fight. Everyone knows the Hound was a better fighter and they had to weaken him by given him an infected bite.

    • @Deorman
      @Deorman 2 роки тому +1

      The hound being a better fighter than Brienne is far from being established in the books, even at the peak of his strenght.

    • @EmBlanca
      @EmBlanca 2 роки тому +2

      Deorman In the books at the Hands tourney during the Mountain and Hound fight, Ned makes note of the fact that The Hound doesn’t actually try to kill The Mountain when he has the opportunity to try. It makes it seem like The Hound was in control during the fight so you’d rank him as good as his brother. Now Jaime is the only person in the books who has experience with both The Hound and Brienne. Brienne fights Jaime when he is incredibly weakened so even when he is impressed by her it’s not a true reflection of what it would be like if Jaime was peak strength. Jaime is better then the Hound but I think and I think Jaime also thinks that The Hound would probably stand a better chance of beating him then Brienne would in a fair fight. Also The Hound is taller then Brienne and you can tell from descriptions he’s more muscular then her. He’s therefore stronger. The Hound is 27/28 in the books whereas Brienne is only 18. He’s got a decade more experience then her and we know that The Hound started training when he was quite young if he killed his first man at 12. It’s kinda common sense looking at the facts, I won’t say though that Brienne doesn’t stand a chance but The Hound is definitely better. He has a reputation for a reason and it’s definitely not just because of his face. He was ordered to protect Cersei and then Joffrey by Cersei for a reason above all other bannermen. He is a level headed guy who is smart so he wouldn’t let himself get carried away in a fight. Who of Brienne big wins is beating Loras Tyrell but he’s a 16year old who’s definitely smaller then her.

    • @Deorman
      @Deorman 2 роки тому

      Sorry but I'm not going to read of all this mate, especially with no effort put in paragraphasing.
      So I just quicly run through it.
      Jaimes was weakened but even in this state is a competent foe, and she spanked him not trying to hurt him while h e was going for the kill.
      SHe didn't win against Loras in a duel but in a MELEE with dozen of knights in which she was one the underdogs, one everyone wanted out and focused on by many knights at the same time
      .
      Killing his first man at 12 doesn't mean shit, if that was the case I bet a load crap of wilding killed a man before that, that doesn't make them stronger than Sandor.
      If strenght was all there was to fight Oberyn woudl'nt have stood a chance against the mountain , it's his recklessness that killed him not the mountain strenght,
      Also BRienne while stronger than many men is perfectly aware that there still are a lot of men stronger than her, and factor this in her way of fighting, it is described in one of her intern monologue in the books.
      THe books tell us about the skill of a very large pannel of character but there's nothing like an absolute better sword practicer in the show, you could argue that Syrio forel is the best, Jaime Lannister is the best, Robert is the best, Ser Baristan the list goes on but there's no clear cut answer to this question.
      BRienne is definitely in the top tier class of fighter, able to go toe to toe with any of those I mentionned,
      But funny thing is both BRienne and the Hound actually got kicked by a bunch of cutthroats who are nowhere near their level of fighting skills in the end, in a very similar kind of fight set.

    • @EmBlanca
      @EmBlanca 2 роки тому

      @@Deorman Jaime was a competent foe, yes you could say that if you're referring to the fact he's able to hold a sword. He's at such a disadvantage in every other sense of the word. i haven't read that chapter recently but if i remember correctly Jaime had been locked in a cell in terrible conditions for months and he was in chains during the fight. The fact you wont admit he was at a disadvantage shows that you cant admit that Brienne wouldn't have beaten him if he was similar healthwise to her.
      Yes Brienne beat a load of no name knights in a melee. I doubt the Hound has ever fought in a melee and done the same. He probably would have won some if he wasnt always going against Thoros and his flaming sword. That whole melee was Briennes shining moment showing how young and inexperienced she is. You dont hear The Hound going around making a big deal of winning The Hands Tourney. He had to fight the mountain to win that and i promise you Brienne wouldn't have lasted against The Mountain as long as The Hound had.
      When i referred to Sandors first kill it wasnt about proving he was strong. i was proving the miles of experience he has over Brienne. its actually funny you didnt reference that in your response because i think you know i have you beat on that one.
      Yeah Brienne uses her skill to best men that are stronger then her but i doubt shes meeting many men who would compare to The Hound. The fact hes stronger then most men would definitely cancel out some of this skill Briennes has.
      Completely disagree when the author has said Jaime, Barristan and Arthur are above the rest. Syrio is dead so it doesn't matter. Robert was like a mini mountain. Thats why were having a debate about these characters'. Based off evidence, skill, strength, experience we know the Hound would beat Brienne. Why did you think the showrunners gave him an infected bite right before his fight with Brienne. Literally the last time we see Arya and The Hound before the fight they were talking about the bite slowing The Hound down. Was it all so The Hound could have his monologue. No, theres so many other ways they could do that. The showrunners gave him the bite so bookreaders wouldn't be outraged that Brienne beat The Hound. Now that tells you something. and suprisingly some people were still upset that The Hound lost against her.
      The Hound would have a better chance toe to toe with Jaime. Jaime knows how good the Hound is at fighting and mentions it more then once in the books. I dont ever remembering him saying this girl could beat The Hound which i think he would do if she was so amazing.
      The Hound "died" because he was depressed, wandering the countryside with an annoying child and he decided to throw caution to the wind and get pissed drunk with three of his brothers men present. Brienne would have been able to taken him there no problem I'll admit.
      You didn't really reference my points about The Hound having at least a decade more experience of fighting, training etc then Brienne and also The Hound has got reputation for a reason. It isnt all because of his burned face. The Hound in his prime would have beat Brienne but i will admit if Brienne met The Hound in WoW and she fought him she would win because hes got a limp and hasnt been practicing fighting.

      @@EmBlanca Man Experience isn't everything, how many war has oberyn fought actually ?
      None.
      How many Battle has robb fought before proving he was a tactical genius.
      Yes Experience is good but there's a lot of inexperience fighter that show they're amazing from the get go.
      And Jaime and Baristan Selmy are definitely protayed as above the rest, they didn't joing the King's Guard for nothing (I mean in a time that it wasn't a Joke)
      Jaime in his though believe that Brienne is a better fighter than him, even taking in consideration the state he was in at the time they had fought.
      part of the Hound reputation is due to his attitude and his burned face, but he actually fought a lot less than you seems to think, I don't remember the hound be mentionned during the Greyjoy rebellion but that would be his only real test in the last decades.
      You could argue Jon Snow did more fighting than him by the middle of the books.
      There were more battle and bloodshed to be fought in the last 6 month of the books than during all Robert reigns.

      Mariah Parker Ohh I knew who of these Brienne lovers was going to come after me. There’s a reason the Hound didn’t fight Brienne in the books and that was because he would have won. For the story to progress Arya needed to leave The Hound and the only way for that to happen was for the Hound to die. In the show for Arya’s progression they needed the Hound to die. They decided to have a one on one fight to take down the Hound instead of it being the tavern scene. Brienne was in the area and her story was about finding the Stark girls and she’s a good fighter so they decided to make it happen. Brienne is a great fighter but she is not on the same level as The Hound. They gave the Hound the bite, caused it to become infected and acknowledged two episodes ago it was becoming infected to make the Hound weakened. We say in earlier episodes the Hound punches do some damage. His strength is unmatched to Briennes and at full health he would beat her 9/10 times. I know The Hound needed to die but I hate people going around saying Brienne is a better fighter then him. It’s like saying she is better then Jaime, yes when he has one hand but not two handed Jaime. It’s the same with The Hound when he’s at full strength. I wanted The Hound to win because he’s a more interesting character. He’s complex who walks the line with his morality. He’s not good or evil but we’ve seen him progress as a person and discover something within himself to help The Stark Girls. Brienne is a lot more one note compared to him, her one goal is finding the Stark girls and all she is is honourable. The funny thing is that she’s shit at her goal and The Hound has done a much better job at helping Sansa and Arya then Brienne ever does. The Hound isn’t a good guy but you can not say he’s a rapist when there’s no proof of it, yes it’s possible but it’s a accusation with no evidence. Brienne is good but that doesn’t mean she adds more to the story. I think what George and this show does best is portray the guys that walk the line like The Hound, people like Jaime and Theon.

      Mariah Parker this isn’t about being misogynistic. I’d been saying the exact same thing if they put Bronn in Briennes place. They both overpowered them so much in the show. I’ve always had it ranked as my favorite. The only part that was disappointing was the whole Cersei Tywin conversation that absolutely meant nothing and doesn’t even come close to happening in the books.

    Does the girl on the left ever just be quiet during a scene or does she think she has to talk over all dialogue!?

      Yeah, if I was watching the series for the first time with her, she would ruin it for me.

    This was the last great season of GOT. There are some great moments in the next few seasons, but it gets progressively worse from here.
    Check that: Season 5 is the absolute worst. I'd skip it, maybe watch a highlight, or summary of the season, and go right into season 6.
