My girlfriend has never watched Game of Thrones so we've decided to watch the series together!

I know you think it's hard to feel bad for The Hound, but remember he really HAS been taking care of Arya, and protecting her. He fought Brianne because of that...why would he let a stranger in Lannister gold just show up and take her? He would have asked for money if he wasnt protecting her. Yeah, he was trying to get paid to take Arya north, but he also wanted to take her to real safety, otherwise he would have just sold her to a perceived enemy.
Also tried to convince Sansa to go with him too
First of all, I gotta say I've loved watching all of your GoT videos. I don't usually leave comments but I just have to say how cute it was when Joe obviously got a little emotional when the Lannister brothers were saying their goodbyes. We see you trying to hide those shiny eyes behind that cap 🥺😄♥️

This season is perfectly bookended with fights involving the Hound - Two Swords has the fight at the Inn, and The Children has the epic confrontation with Brienne! Amazing.

The children of the forest are the original inhabitants of Westeros. They were there before humans arrived, when humanity arrived they started attacking the children eventually the children went into hiding after the coming of the andals. They didn't explain that very well

I've been away so came back with a few episodes to catch up on this was my third tonight and what a great watch it was so good hat I will save the rest of the catch up for tomorrow.

Wellz is so right about this being one of the best seasons. The groundwork of world-building and characterization laid in the first few seasons start to go absolutely crazy with all the different plot lines. Between seasons 3 & 4, my Top 3 favorite characters and honorable mentions were scrambled. In the beginning it was Catelyn, then Arya, then Tywin. Catelyn left a huge void after the Red Wedding and my alternates hadn’t shown me enough to be Top 3. Oberyn filled the void Cat left behind, making Top 3 but they yanked that away from me in less than a season. Tyrion, Little Finger, Stannis, and Jon continued to win me over but they never quite hit Top 3 level. During the “mock” trial episode, Tyrion taking charge of his own destiny had me rooting for him to surpass and replace Tywin and by the end of the season he did just that, making Top 3 but still I had 1 empty spot. I also started to have a change of heart about Sansa who I hated the 1st season. Also Jaime is heartwarming brother to Tyrion but I can never forgive what he did to young Bran and all the people he’s violated to be with Cersi. I could talk about this show forever.

Shay was on the ship in the harbor when Jeoffry died and Tywin ordered the city sealed shut and the ships brought back to port. I don't think Shay was in kahoots with Tywin before then, but they probably slept with each other as their own revenge against Tyrion

There are many reasons for the changes between the books and the show...
Primarily the need to streamline the story to fit into the episode/season format, and the first 4+ seasons are roughly following the books, mostly (with some variations) a season covering the events of one book. Some storyline threads were dropped, others were combined, and some characters were blended into a single character (if you think the cast of GoT is huge, the cast of characters in the books is way larger).
There were some storylines and events that were portrayed differently because the showrunners felt the book version wouldn't translate as well to the screen.
Some changes were just arbitrary decisions by the showrunners.
In some cases, (Arya serving as cupbearer to Tywin probably the best example) turned out to be pure gold. Others didn't work out quite as well.
The upcoming season 5 is where things will really start to diverge... book 5 was the last one published, so some of season 5 (and virtually all of the subsequent seasons) are creations of the showrunners, based on a rough indication of where GRRM wanted the story to go. They knew some plot points, but not the details of how to get there, so they're largely writing their own version of the story. Some elements come off well, others are missing the Martin flair. Without the detailed (extremely detailed...) source material to draw from there's going to be some hit and miss.
To me, Arya's final scene. She watches the land fade into the distance, her past and then walks to the bow to look into the future.

This episode is so fire, but damn, it was kinda sad to see Tywin go (though he did try to have my boo Tyrion killed). But he was such an amazing character.
His character was truly amazing! Could r get past the Tyrion thing tho either because I love him too he not about to continue doing him like that 😭😭
Tywin obviously is hated but he was such a good character that I honestly disliked the show until season 6

There was a wife Tyrion had at first name Tysha he spoke about her in season one to shae and bron but her storyline and connection was cut out for some reason but it’s a major plot point where Tyrion will be taking a dark turn. We saw it in the trial he decided to become the monster people see him as and he’s willing to ally with enemies now to destroy all of kings landing

The saddest death in the show, farewell Tywin! Stupid Tyrion, kills the only person holding the kingdom together and plunging it back into war and chaos.
As a book and show fan, nope, the 3rd and 4th seasons of the show are all compiled from the 3rd book, A Storm of Swords.
qyburn is underrated imo(the maester who revives the mountain) he's a genius and stays loyal to cersei.i respect that.unlike pycell

One of my top 3 favorite finales. Tywin played his last game of thrones on a throne. You win or you die.
Fun fact: the finale aired on Father’s Day in 2014.
Another Emmy Award worthy performance for Peter Dinklage! The reason he didn’t leave immediately was Tyrion wanted to confront Tywin on why he sentenced him to die knowing he was innocent. Tyrion was willing to risk his chance of escape to gain closure on the issue.
Some months later after Father’s Day, they showed the last two episodes of Season 4 in select IMAX theaters! The surround sound system was incredible! Because of that and even though I already seen it, the sound of that crossbow going off startled me! Jumped out of my seat a little.
