    Tommen had the most subversive death ever. The whole show is about all these families commiting all types of murder and violence to get to the Iron Throne and the man who's sitting on it couldn't wait to give up. Crushed by the pressure. Brilliant! Reminds me of the old saying "heavy is the head that wears the crown".

    • @0okamino
      @0okamino 2 роки тому +26

      He was also respectful to the end. He could have (even perhaps should have) tossed the crown out of the window in anger, or wore it out of spite as he fell, but he put it aside for the final time, and, sadly enough, likely felt more free than he had in quite some time.

    I still can't get that melancholic piano music out of my head. The camera panning out to Cersei's coronation is my favorite shot, waited the whole series for that moment. The King in the North chant lives, once more after all this time! With Jon and Sansa at the table as throwback to Robb and Cat from the end of S1. Very evocative score and visuals. This is my favorite GoT episode. Through hell and highwater we keep hoping for all these outcomes, and at last the floodgates open up! Remember how we all do the "Winter is Coming drinking game" quip in early seasons as Ned keeps saying it every 5 mins? Who would've thought the next time you'll hear a Stark saying it again in the show, it'll be under these circumstances. To quote Ned as Sansa does in winter is here, "when the Snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives." There's that one badass teaser for S7 called Long Walk which shows the two queens and the one king walking to their respective thrones and subconsciously you just know that this is it, they've peaked, it's downhill from here. Oh well, at least for a glorious second it did feel like a time for wolves...

    1.) I think that there was a time jump between Varys in Dorne and when Dany et al. boarded the boats to cross the Narrow Sea to Westeros.
    2.) Please watch the R+L=J video. Using previous footage from the show, it explains the importance of Jon Snow's inheritance.

    *PROMISE ME NED*
    In the 1st book there's a very somber sequence where Robert in his deathbed is pleading with Ned to take care of Joffrey. Before he dies last thing Robert says is " *PROMISE ME NED* ". But Ned hears that sentence in a female voice. It's so well written, it's hard to do justice. That was my first vague inkling. All through the 1st book Ned has a crisis of faith looking at Robert deteriorating on the throne, and asks himself if Robert really was a better alternative to the Targaryen Crown Prince. It kills Ned cause he starts to second guess everything he had fought for. In the process of winning the war he lost the Brother he knew. There's times when Ned is walking through the castles and wherever he goes he comes across these relics left by the Targaryens, which reminds him of Prince Rhaeger. The greatest dynasty is gone, but their imprint is still everywhere. Even as absolute masters of King's Landing, it's Ned and Robert who felt like outsiders there. It's all beautifully written and Ned's constant inner torment is impossible to do justice on screen. But that's when you start to wonder why is Ned feeling so guilty all the time? Maybe everything is not what it seems? It's that "chaos, a gaping pit" line from Varys. The victors kept telling lies about the vanquished so many times, they themselves forgot what the truth was. People say ASOIAF is the tragic love story of Rhaegar and Lyanna. But it's really A Tragic Love Story of Eddard and Robert. Back in the day ASOIAF forum had a funny thread where they listed every suggestive moment between Ned and Robert, including just the sheer number of times Ned thinks of Young Robert as "muscled like a maiden's fancy". Dude slick left his wife home to be with King Bob 😅

      Most reactors nowadays don't realize who Jon's father is. People who were watching while the show was airing had time to go and dive into the lore and theories, but reactors who watched it later don't have that luxury.

    • @Gwenhwyfar7
      @Gwenhwyfar7 2 роки тому

      Many reactors still do react to it. I think it's an important part of watching the show. I think the writers actually intended it to be more obvious, but at least half don't seem to completely get it, so the video really helps bring all those pieces together.

    • @jcompton8507

      @@Gwenhwyfar7 I think the writers assumed that the show fans would have already heard the theory from the book readers, who had been debating R+L=J for over a decade.
      For me as a book reader, the very, very subtle winks and nods that D&D were giving throughout the series were so frustrating because it felt like the hints were meant to tease the book fans. But at the same time they weren't enough to really clue in the viewers. So I admit, even as a staunch R+L=J believer, doubts started creeping in - especially when we reached the end of S5 and D&D never had Jojen tell Bran the story of the Knight of the Laughing Tree.
      ...Then when we saw what looked like the Tower of Joy in the S6 trailers, all of speculation hit high gear! I think most fans watching S6 live were clued in and ready for confirmation by that point!

    Arya killing Frey is so satisfying that it's easy to zone out on the next scene but I think that's the one that's artistically superior. A beautiful backdrop of the snowy Godswood with LF in the shadows looking intriguing as ever. Sansa sitting in the same spot Ned sat forever ago in the first episode. The slowed down Stark music, like daggers to the heart. When he says "forgive me my lady if you're at prayer" and she dolefully replies "I'm done with all that". That's full circle to when Cersei scoffed at her for naively putting her faith in the cruel Gods. She speaks very little but conveys all that she's been through with her eyes: "The past is gone for good. You can sit here mourning its departure or prepare for the future". Forget about all the critiques and analysis for a sec and just soak in what an uncanny road it's been for both of them! Out of everyone that's come and gone, it's these two who are still standing. " *A picture of me on the Iron Throne and you by my side* " 😈

    It amazes me every time how people get to the Baby Jon reveal and they're just like, "He's Ned's nephew!" And that is as far as their thought process goes. I just don't get it. The immediate question after that should naturally be...well what does that mean?!? Ned not cheating on Katlyn should not be a person's big takeaway 😂😂.
    I remember when I first saw this episode, I immediately jumped out of my seat and screamed that Jon is the........"Well you know the rest..". 😏
    These reactors that don't understand the central importance of that little scene baffles me every time. It is probably the most important scene in the entire show.

    'Remember this, boy. All dwarfs may he bastards, yet not all bastards need be dwarfs.' And with that he turned and sauntered back into the feast, whistling a tune. When he opened the door, the light from within threw his shadow clear across the yard, and for just a moment Tyrion Lannister stood tall as a king.
    That was Jon's first and only interaction with Tyrion in Winterfell. They don't even see each other again after the 3rd episode! After that convo Tyrion follows Jon back into the feast as lights from the hall cast both their shadows. But shadows don't discriminate between dwarfs and regular sized humans. That was how GRRM described this oddity. *And for just a moment Tyrion Lannister stood tall as a king* is probably the very first subtle hint of Jon's parentage in the book. Of him being the Prince That Was Promised (that or Tyrion third head of the Targaryen Dragon theory confirmed lol). But yeah, as you see more of young Jon before he leaves for the wall in the book, you see him as the wily neglected boy who could barely hold his tears at how he's treated by everyone. So his journey in the show, climaxing with them finally paying off the much speculated R+L=J theory, strikes the emotional chord even more vividly.

    • @jcompton8507

      Yep, this imagery gave me chills during my re-read!
      Along the same vein, did "Bastards are not allowed to damage young princes" come before or after this scene with Tyrion?
      It's a crazy hint for both Joff and Jon! During the first read through, you feel so sorry for Jon for being left out of the sparring because you believe he's the bastard.
      Second time through, it absolutely hits you in the face!

    • @SDG.12

      @@jcompton8507 If I'm not mistaken Joff said that line on a later morning when him and Robb and others were practicing with wooden swords at the Winterfell courtyard under Ser Roderik's watch and Jon and Arya were watching from the stands. The Tyrion interaction happened on the very night of Robert's arrival, during the feast. So I think the Tyrion one happened first. But yeah, crazy foreshadowing, both of them! Definitely worth posting in the 6x10 finale reactions.

    Everyone has the same reaction when the episode was over. Even when I watch it now I'm still in awe of just how many shocking turn of events is packed in a single episode. Each one hit like a brick wall. In one stroke it manages to resolve the two storylines that were built up for two seasons, and leaves you with one you never thought about. This is like a multiple watch episode cause the first time you're just in a shell shocked state! At the beginning of last episode Tyrion foreshadows by telling Dany the story of Mad King hiding caches of wildfire in King's Landing. By the end of Bastards that's the last thing in your mind! Hats off to Ramin Djawadi's music. The music alone is better than pretty much every finale of every show. The way it adds to the suspense of the Sept scene is unreal. Who else is unreal? Liam Cunningham as Davos berating Mellisandre. Battle episodes are always crazy, but this is so fantastic in a different kinda way. This might be my No. 1 GoT episode. It's up there. It deserved every accolade it got.

    Thanks girls, for another season, after the dark season 5, luckily season 6 brought us relief and some long awaited justice. I personally think (and I hope you don't consider this a spoiler) that this episode (season 6 finale) was the best one (though I am not really into rating), if not surely "the biggest". There are that many big scenes in this episode, I could write a whole reaction page to this one; instead, I want to comment on a more trivial one: as a Dutch I want to comment that Daario Naharis was ordered to stay behind in Essos. I wanted to add that the actor, Michiel Huisman, also played a side character in the other great (Canadian) show, Orphan Black, during the same years. I don't know if you saw the show, but it's also an awesome one, definitely worth to watch. Also in that show he more or less vanished. I wish you good fortune on the seasons to come; I certainly did not see them as bad as a part "of the community" did; there are still a lot of great episode to look forward to.

Winds of Winter aka Game of Thrones: The Ultimate Vengeance Edition was a heart-stopping conclusion heavy in blood, revenge and death in which scores were settled, new alliances formed, old fan theories confirmed and the stage set for what promises to be the mother of all clashes between Dany, the Queen of Dragons, and Cersei, the queen of ashes and dust. - The Guardian

The sheer quantity of incredible moments in The Winds of Winter have left me reeling. For a show that boasts some of the best music on television, somehow Game of Thrones managed to up the ante even more in the Season 6 finale. Right from the first scene, and right up until the last, just about every bit was simply gorgeous. An almost mournful piano greets us in the High Sept. "Game of Thrones fans can be a contentious lot, but the sixth season went out on a note of near-unanimous approval. Vary vaulted “Winds” to the top of his ranked list of every Game of Thrones episode, with “Battle” and last season’s Sapochnik-directed “Hardhome” also in the top 10, and Vulture’s Sean T. Collins placed the same three episodes in his top 11. A Twitter poll by critic Alan Sepinwall gave the “Winds” opening sequence, depicting Cersei Lannister’s carefully orchestrated revenge plot, a Brexit-sized 52-to-48 lead over the “Hardhome” massive White Walker battle. While voting was still open, one of Sepinwall’s followers chimed in, “Whatever the results of this poll, we can all agree the real winner is Miguel Sapochnik." - Slate

No matter how disagreeable his end was, a cataclysmic failure is necessary for the eventual success to mean anything. This was special to the masses because the river of shit they had to wade to get there. Just think back how long it has been, where these characters were when we started. What other show would have the balls? Mellisandre hinting "you know nothing Jon Snow" or Maester Aemon saying "a Targaryen alone in the world" or Lyanna Mormont's "Bear Island knows no King.." letter to Stannis. Bran's journey finally ending in the Tower. *All those moments are why the crowning at Winterfell feel so gratifying* . Nothing was given, it had to be earned. The last two episodes didn't exist in a random vacuum, all the prior season bleakness goes into creating the mood for the eventual turnover. *The longer the slowburn was the more memorable these moments became* .
    If you think that's nonsense, well it's all subjective opinion. What is not subjective is the viewership numbers of S5 & S6 & the 24 Emmys the two seasons won in total. Yep 24!

    Lyanna Stark was "kidnapped" by Rhaegar Targaryen, Dany's eldest brother and the heir to the throne. Lyanna was engaged to Robert Baratheon and the kidnapping is what set of the war that had him crowned.

    On the opposite end of the roof heartfelt Jon Sansa "a raven came from the citadel, a white raven winter is here" scene is the godswood scene. People have been asking Baelish "what do you want" since S1 and Baelish has been answering "Everything, dear. Everything." since S1. This was as close to seeing the inner Baelish as it will get. That conversation seemed to lay down the foundation for a power struggle in the North between Jonathan Targ and Dark Phoenix Sansa.That was a big speculation going into next season and the trailers played heavily into it.

    I mean I know they call it Kings Landing for a reason but Tommen brought a whole new meaning to the name,,, Also regarding the two Freys that Arya baked into pies: Lothar is the one who stabbed Robb's wife to death and Black Walder is the one who cut her mother's throat. Poetic doesn't even cover it.

OH YEA IT'S HAPPENING !!!😩 The Kings of Winter are back and only this marriage can truly secure the North. But knowing what we now know, this will be the REAL coming together of Ice and Fire. Without Melisandre sacrificing Sheeren she wouldn’t have been able to bring Jon back. Only death can pay for life. The same reason Dany hatched 3 eggs is because she gave three lives. Her son’s, Drogo’s, and the witch.

    • @Mauther
      @Mauther 2 роки тому

      Red Priest don't require a sacrifice. Remember Thoros brought Beric six times with the Last Kiss/Kiss of Life. And Dany didn't give three lives, Rhaego was still-born, killed by the curse Mirri used to bring Drogo back as an invalid. It was Dany's inadvertent use of fire (the funeral pyre) and blood magic (tying Mirri to the pyre as a sacrifice) which woke the dragon eggs, but it didn't bring them back to life. And Mirri was specifically a sacrifice, Dany says something along the lines of "I don't want your screams, I want your life"

    • @tsxtina2919
      @tsxtina2919 2 роки тому

      @@Mauther the red priest who have the gift of resurrection. Melisandre very clearly said she doesn’t have it. So Jon was the sacrifice and Dany only could hatch those egged because she gave three lives. She didn’t give them willingly. Only one but only death can pay for life so her husband and her baby were part of the sacrifice. So I don’t agree at all.

    Great video guys.
    You made note of time traveling and that you don't agree with it. However when you go back to season 1, characters moving around from great distances in a single episode, is a common thing on this show.
    1) Season 1 episode 1 : King Robert Baratheon and his family, travels to winterfell from Kings Landing, in a single episode. Cersei mentioned loudly to King Robert that, "We've been riding a month my love." And, that was in one single episode.
    2) Season 1 episode 2 and 3 : King Robert, his family and Ned Stark and his daughters leave Winterfell in episode 2. And, arrive in Kings Landing on the first scene in episode 3. Again. It took them one episode of travelling between Kings Landing and Winterfell.
    Go back and re-watch season 1 episode 1, 2 & 3. And, you will see that this has been established.
    You're just enjoying the show so much, that you want things to slow down. But, traveling long distances in a short amount of time, has already been established. You just weren't paying attention, until now.
    Again. Great video guys.

    "We know no King but the King in the North, who's name is Stark". What an awesome insane balls to the wall episode Winds of Winter is. The best GoT episode imo. The moral is "power recides where men believe it recides" - Varys. The whole edifice of the ruling power that was held together by so much bloodshed comes crashing down like a deck of cards. To watch it all go up in flames (literally) was as rewarding as watching it slowly being built up was irksome. Out of the wreckages of the North, the South and the East emerge the three contenders to the Iron Throne : the Bastard of Winterfell (or is he?), the Lioness of Casterly Rock, and the Stormborn who intends to re-create what her ancestor Aegon the Conqueror had done three centuries ago.
