  • How to repair kerbed and damaged wheels.
In this video I will show you the steps to repair and refurbish your cars damaged alloy wheels.
Whether your Alloy Wheels have kerb rash, or if you just need to Refurbish your cars Alloy Wheels then I will take you through the steps needed to fix them.
First we remove them from the car. The jacking and raising information can be found in your cars owners manual, or online.
Next we need to thoroughly clean the wheel and tire to make sure there is nothing that will contaminate our paint process.
After that we can level the damage using a file or rotary tool (Dremel) and blend the damage using either sand paper or a sander.
The next stage is to use Body Filler or Bondo to fill the damage, which once cured is then sanded to blend the repair in to the wheel.
Using a cheap spray gun from Amazon I applied an Etch Primer to the Alloy Wheel as this gives the best surface for our paint to bond to.
The Primer then needs to be levelled with the original paint and blended to make sure that there are no edges.
When this is done we can apply our paint to the repaired Alloy Wheel. I'm using a 2k Basecoat and Clear. I used Ferrari Argento Nürburgring as it is the original factory colour for modern Ferrari Wheels.
When the base coat dries (this is pretty instantly) I applied 3-4 coats of Clear Coat to the painted wheel. leave around 10 mins per coat. The first coat should be a dry coat then 2-3 wet coats for the best gloss.
The final steps are to polish the wheel using compound and a DA Polisher, then fitting the wheel back on to the car.
This process can be done easily at home. Take your time and you too can achieve quality results.

Once upon a time - I forgot how wide the back end of the car was and when travelling up a country road I pulled over to let a bin truck through, and I heard the noise that everyone dreads. So here is how I fixed my wrongdoings 😁

Thanks! I sold my F430 a couple of years ago. What is wrong with the gearboxes? I only ever had a leak on mine the day after bringing it home from having a clutch and flywheel fitted because the dealership didn't fit a new rear main seal and it conveniently started leaking the next day. Luckily I noticed straight away so they had to re-do it all for free.

Great video mate one of the best DIY wheel tutorials I've see for a basic refurb but with a gun.
Thanks mate! Any chance you could post a link to the paint and gun you used at all mate? Thanks!
Ps. Nice Ferrari mate is that a 308 or a Deano? Can't tell from the brief glimpse.. should have done an after shot of the whole car show the wheels and the car off aswell mate. Nice one my mate has a Ferrari, I've always wanted one never quite had the funds and when I had the find for a second hand one I ended up going sensible and buying a new BMW, but wish I'd gone for a second hand Ferrari now lol 😅🤦🏻

Thanks mate, I appreciate the kind words. There's a link to the Spray Gun in the description. It's a US Pro HVLP from Amazon. The paint was from eBay and came as a set including the base, clear and primer the company was Jawel Paints.
The Ferrari was an F430, it's in loads of the videos on my channel, one of the best views of it is if you find the one on cleaning the engine bay - that was my favourite part of the car 😁 I wish I'd got better shots of the wheels after they were done but for some reason I don't have any unfortunately.
I bet the BMW causes you less trouble though nothing beats getting ready to take the Ferrari out and it has different plans - like flat batteries etc!! 😆
