I scratched mine on a curb a little but mine are also BMW alloys but darker grey colour, would this method be ok with darker grey colour rims? Or will I need paint?
Great Video!!! what if you have those rims an inbetween there's a black gap and brushed chrome in the design?? I guess you just have to work around the blackgap right? This is my BF's name but I'm viewing your video!!
That would be very delicate to work around. It is doable BUT you must be very patient and remember to cover the parts you don't need to repair. Personally would I attempt to do this? Yes and no. From the video at 3.00 it appears as though these wheels are diamond cut finished on the silver surface. What you've basically done is sanded off the curb rash, smoothed it out, along with the diamond cut finish and lacquered it. From a distance it might look ok but close up you'll see part of the wheel is still diamond cut and where it's been repaired just faded off to a smooth finish. Really not the way to repair a diamond cut finished wheel unless you want it to look like a £14 repair.
Paul, we are not complaining. We are happy with our £14 repair and no one would be looking at our diamond cut alloy wheels closely unless they are planning to STEAL or INSPECT the wheels for damages. Again, thank you for your observations but we are happy with the cheap repair 😂😂
Hello Samuel. The spray is "Lacquer" and is used to seal the wheels to keep it protected. If you don't spray lacquer on the wheels, the bare metal is exposed to the elements (wind, rain, dirt, sunlight) and you would just need to clean it regularly. So, in summary it's not a big thing if you don't use the lacquer spray. Cheers, 𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙮 𝘿𝙅 𝙢𝙞𝙭𝙚𝙨 👉www.djblinkblink.com/music-downloads

@@samwh4775 you are welcome mate. If the damage on your mum's wheel is small, then you "may" skip the lacquer step. However if the damage is not small, I would advise you buy the lacquer spray and use it as required. This would ensure you have a complete finish on the wheels. Cheers, DJ Blink-Blink
@@arijsyed if the lacquer drips, it would form little air pockets and bubbles on your alloy wheel. Cheers, 𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙮 𝘿𝙅 𝙢𝙞𝙭𝙚𝙨 👉www.djblinkblink.com/music-downloads
@@adriancarter825 exactly and in all honesty the second attempt is always better cos you have built some confidence around the process. Good luck mate and I'm sure you will nail it 👍🏾😎
Hello mate, Since you went all the way to bare metal, you would have to put more than just a few coats on your wheel when spraying it (make sure there are no dry or thin spots during this process). Using a high-end clear coat metal product like "Everbrite clear coating" will do the trick. Follow this process below: 1. Apply the first coat lightly. 2. After this, you can go heavy when applying the succeeding clear coats. Remember, wait for the first layer to dry completely before you apply the second coat. If you adhere to the spraying motion (left to right or vise versa) and most importantly if you apply the lacquer from a distance as described in the video, you should not have negative effect on your brake disc or the caliper. Remember the elements (rain, salt, mud etc) land on the brake discs throughout the year and this does not have any effect on the braking system or performance as a whole. I scratched mine on a curb a little but mine are also BMW alloys but darker grey colour, would this method be ok with darker grey colour rims? Or will I need paint?
You would most likely need a darker grey alloy spray to use after the lacquer mate
What is alloy wheel laquer? What is it called in the USA? Also is it gloss, semi gloss or matte?
Alloy wheel lacquer is a protective coat added to paint or metal. Also it is gloss (see example below)
e-tech.uk.com/e-tech-alloy-wheel-lacquer-400ml
I have similar bmw rims that are made out of butter and rashed up.. may try this repair. Thanks
You are welcome Ron. Just take it slow and follow each steps as I did mine and you would be fine mate 👍🏾😎
Thank you sir ❤️ which spry used
You are welcome. Spray used was the E-Tech Alloy Wheel Lacquer 400ml.
@Dj blink in having a black alloy wheel, should I spray it with lacquer before spraying it with black paint ?
No mate. Lacquer is always applied after the paint to protect the finish...not before
I would suggest covering the brake so you don’t contaminate the brakes with the spray
Dear DJ Blink-Blink, what other alternatives for aluminium lacquer. I went to all paint stores here, but they don't have any
Hello mate, another alternative is "clear coat lacquer"

Great Video!!! what if you have those rims an inbetween there's a black gap and brushed chrome in the design?? I guess you just have to work around the blackgap right? This is my BF's name but I'm viewing your video!!
That would be very delicate to work around. It is doable BUT you must be very patient and remember to cover the parts you don't need to repair.
Personally would I attempt to do this? Yes and no. Yes if it's a small area I'm working in. No if it's a big surface area.
Cheers, DJ Blink-Blink 👉 My Mix www.djblinkblink.com/ultimate-mix-album
Excellent video. Well done. Thank You!

So you sprayed only the top part of the wheel ...the sanded areas... correct? Ta

Yes cos it's "clear" lacquer.
What final grit did you use
Wet & dry 800 grit

Will this work if i have black rims?
You would also need to purchase the exact spray for your rims to match it
does this work with black alloys aswell?
Personally I would not attempt to do this on black alloys unless I have the exact "paint" to match it afterwards

Nice one bro....Will be trying this soon
Good luck mate 😎👍🏾

Are u sure it won’t ruin my rims? I wanna do it myself cause the wheel shop said they will charge me $210 just for little ass scratch
Unfortunately I can't be responsible for the outcome of your rims. However in as much as you adhere to everything within this video and your alloy wheels are similar to what everyone within the 50 comments in this video happy with their repair, then you "should" be fine.

@@filmsbyimran_ that's the mission bro 😂😂🤣. I never ever allow people to get under my skin 🤣😂
How comes you didnt use any filler, primer and paint?
That's not necessary as you can see from the video. It's a minor repair which does not require any balancing of the wheel afterwards 👍🏾
I have a question for what is exactly the spray ? What happens if I do it without the spray 😅

@@samwh4775 you are welcome mate. If the damage on your mum's wheel is small, then you "may" skip the lacquer step. However if the damage is not small, I would advise you buy the lacquer spray and use it as required. This would ensure you have a complete finish on the wheels.
Cheers,
DJ Blink-Blink
@@DjBlinkBlink thanks DJ! What happens if the lacquer drips? You said number of times don't let it drip, I am wondering what happens if it does drip ?
@@arijsyed if the lacquer drips, it would form little air pockets and bubbles on your alloy wheel.

I went down to the metal. But now the clear coat will not stick to the metal
Hello mate,
Since you went all the way to bare metal, you would have to put more than just a few coats on your wheel when spraying it (make sure there are no dry or thin spots during this process). Using a high-end clear coat metal product like "Everbrite clear coating" will do the trick.
Follow this process below:
1. Apply the first coat lightly.
2. After this, you can go heavy when applying the succeeding clear coats.
Remember, wait for the first layer to dry completely before you apply the second coat.
Cheers,
DJ Blink-Blink

Never put spray can in boiling water, great way to make the can EXPLODE.
A good thing we are not using boiling water then yes?
should've covered the break disk and caliper with plastic or something.
All in all, you should be fine
