Difference between Parvatasana and Adho Mukha Svanasana - Yoga For Cure | Yoga For Beginners

  • Parvatasana and Adho Mukha Swanasan they look the same, but they are different when it comes to alignment. They also called Mountain posture and Upward facing dog.
    The major difference between Parvatasan and Adho Mukha Swanasan would be,
    Parvatsan: 1. Feet together
    2. Ears and arms are in a straight line together
    3. Spine straight
    Mukha Swanasan
    1. Feet apart
    2. Ears and arms are not in a straight line but the head is trying to reach the floor.
    3. Spine arched and trying to stretch more.
    Even though they look the same but Parvatasana is more stable and grounded, practicing which will give you more stability mentally and physically, Also this tries to stretch hamstrings and spine shoulders.
    Adho Mukha Swanasan will stretch your spine and hip along with your arms and shoulders.
    These are the postures used a lot while practicing yoga and helps to relax your mind and body with good stretches. Try them with your regular yoga sequences to feel better.
    Benefits of Parvatasana or Mountain Pose and Downward-facing dog
    Parvatasana or the mountain helps in maintaining good blood flow throughout the body. you can feel the flow of blood right from the tip to the toe. Parvatasana engages the whole body and infuses the rich blood to all the organs ensuring a healthy body.
    Parvatasana is best for the employees who sit longer duration, This asana gives a good and quick stretch to the whole body. The practice of Parvatasana or Downward facing dog pose brings the tight spine a wave of flexibility. Parvatasana benefits the muscles and spinal cord by making them flexible and giving good strength. Therefore, Parvatasana or the mountain pose and the downward-facing dog or the Adho Mukha swanasana rewards the practitioner with a perfect body posture.
    The benefits of Parvatasana are just not limited to flexibility; This yoga asana sets perfect coordination and balance between the upper and lower body.
    Parvatasana helps in strengthening the arms, shoulders, and hamstring. The benefits of mountain pose can be seen in the lower back of the body with time.
    Parvatasana or Mountain proves to be one of the best of yoga asanas benefiting the human race by boosting the organs of the body.
    The mountain pose involves the movement of belly giving a natural massage to it that not only stimulates the secretion of necessary digestive juices but also provides you with a good digestive system. Parvatasana coordinates all the organs of the digestive system with the proper functioning of them.
    The rich blood is directed to the mind while practicing Parvatasana. Parvatasana also helps in keeping the mind calm and relax Parvatasana relieves the mind of any sort of stress, anxiety, or mild depression.

      Hi @Sharmila pathy..
      Mine is the same case... now I follow her along with the 10 day beginners daily yoga... after that am planning to go for 21 day yoga for beginners... it's good to follow her along.. it's a complete package with warmup asanas pranayama and savasana... I personally found them great... just like practicing with a yoga guru in front of you. Also download the video before practice, else ads pop up in between a stretch or meditation.

    Parvatasana n'a rien à voir avec Adho Mukha Swanasan, ce ne sont pas du tout les mêmes postures qui ne visent pas du tout le même travail sur les Nadis et les Chakras...
    La posture de la montagne se prend en lotus, les bars tirés vers le haut et les doigts joints, elle vise le travail sur le feu et l'air qui se combinent pour éveiller Anahata Chakra, quand Adho Mukha Swanasan travail sur Ida et Pingala...
    Attention au dos, dans la vidéo, le bas du dos est très mal positionné et les dégâts sur les lombaires et l'articulation sacro-iliaque se rappellera à nous vers 50 ou 55 ans...
    Parvatasana has nothing to do with Adho Mukha Swanasan, they are not at all the same postures which do not aim at all the same work on the Nadis and the Chakras ...
    The mountain posture is taken in lotus, bars pulled up and fingers joined, it aims at work on fire and air which combine to awaken Anahata Chakra, when Adho Mukha Swanasan is working on Ida and Pingala. ..
    Attention to the back, in the video, the lower back is very badly positioned and the damage on the lumbar and the sacroiliac joint will be remembered to us around 50 or 55 years old ...

    Pls make video/ reply to this comment about how to protect elbow while doing downward dog/kubhakasan. I get a tennis elbow like pain in my left elbow while doing these. They say engage your muscles to prevent it. Can you pls explain HOW to do that?
