i always said i didn’t need a live action tlou because the game stands on its own, and it still does, but apparently i am just very happy to see one of my favorite stories in any medium, especially with craig mazin as a co-writer/producer. and i get bonus anna torv out of it? amazing

Luckily it's not 1:1 the same story, as many new things will be added, new storylines, new characters, etc. and even things from the game will be slightly changed (e.g. Henry and Sam will be in Kansas, not in Pittsburgh)
Think it's great it'll be more accessible to a wider audience. Lot of people are uninterested in the game or watching a playthrough.

Aaron, the developers actually used a LOT of Johnson's likeness to create Ellie's model, and they took the likeness between the actor and the character EVEN further in the sequel.
The clickers are practical (with some CGI enhancements, ofc). That stuff is being handled by Barrie Gower (Stranger Things 4 - Vecna, No Time to Die, Chernobyl, The Green Knight). I was SO relieved when I found out that that stuff is being handled by him cuz he and his team are talented AF.
He also did The Night King in Game of Thrones
It's funny cause this live action Ellie looks a ton like Ashley Johnson... moreso than she looks like the character.
I ADORE the clicker design. I was so terrified that HBO would screw up the infected man look, but they NAILED IT!!

The amount of abuse this mouse has gone through, that slam felt personal....I am super excited for this from cast and the director
They filmed in the city I live in and holy crap the set dress up was something else. It was crazy to see in real life, how things would look like in a post apocalyptic world.

Season 1 is supposed to cover the first game + DLC. Ofc, it won't be 1:1, some things have been changed. AND, based upon the trailer, there will be some flashbacks covering the stories of some side characters like Tess (she gets a close-up where her face is all fucked up) and Bill (there is a shot of two well-dressed men having dinner and they are holding hands. That is supposed to be him, I believe. There's a shot of him watching some security cam feed wherein people are being evacuated by the soldiers. Looks like he is hiding so that when everyone leaves, he has the whole town to himself).
Bill was gay with Frank remember then Frank betrayed Bill and Frank in the process of getting the car battery got bit and he hung himself in the living room of that house.

Also something that completely blew my mind, apart from the amazing cast like Gabriel Luna as Tommy, is that Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, who voice Joel and Ellie in the games, are going to be in this series, but as different characters. Also imagine badass Lyanna Mormont finally letting loose with bad words 😄

The opening sequence of the show is the only thing I really want them to get right tbh, I'm keeping my expectations low just so that I don't get incredibly disappointed with this like I did for every other video game movie and show.
Well that's what I'm confused about. They nailed A LOT, but why oh why does blue eyed blond haired white Sarah have to be precisely not that. It's not supposed to be a big deal, so why is it so hard to just stick to the source material and the creative vision. But whatever. I don't like the cast for ellie and Joel either, so For now I'll hope the director and producers casted actors who really nail the performance.
I don't envy the director who has to pull off the first 20 minutes!

I have tears right now! The show and Pedro piqued my interest in this story so I watched the cutscenes and this game (including Part 2) put me through an EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER and now seeing this trailer just reignited the emotions all over again

This is gonna be huge, everything looks great. The first game has such a great story and I love the sequel too. I'm not a big gamer but I've played those games several times through. I'm convinced that Bella Ramsey is gonna be a star when this gets released

I'm so excited to see this show. I think they can very easily tell the whole first game in a like, 10 episode season. Especially if every episode is like an hour, you can do alot in an hour. I'm just insanely hyped to see one of my favorite games of all time being adapted finally. This show will probably have a season pass on iTunes and that's probably how I'll end up watching it.
This was filmed in my province (even in my city’s downtown a bit) and it’s interesting to see some of the landscape shots because it looks so familiar to me.

Pedro Pascal's whole world-weary composure, the way he carries himself in that moment, feels 100% like Joel. For a second I almost forgot I wasn't watching a cutscene from the game.

Pedro and Bella from GOT great choices for cast. The scenes look very much taken from the game. And the Clicker sounds are spot on. The song is in the game too. Totally confident in HBO with this adaptation.

I am SOOOO excited for this show to come out! Everything about it was just so great! I did read, too, that during Joel & Ellie's trip to Utah, instead of skipping a lot of that, like they did in the game, they will be exploring and end up spending some time in Kansas City where there is "stuff". And I would be more than ecstatic if they chose to incorporate TLOU2 into this as well. I loved that game even more than the first, despite how many people hated it.
Im excited for this, loved the story (I still gotta play it for myself), and on top of that this was filmed in my home province as well!

I’ve been a huge fan of the games ever since the first one originally came out (I’m hoping to get the redone “Part 1” that just came out for the PS5). This trailer immediately captures the look and feel of the entire world of all the games. That scene where they’re all hiding from the Clicker is so perfect, right down to the movement and sound. Plus, I’m always pleased to see Pedro Pascal again! Bella Ramsey, I’ve seen in quite a few things now. I’ll admit I didn’t think she was the right choice, but we’ll see how she does.😀👏

One thing I was really worried about was the soundtrack because it's SUCH an important part of the atmosphere of The Last Of Us, but the song they were playing in the trailer is perfectly fitting!

I think the intro sequence to every episode will have small broken up segments of Left Behind leading up until the finale. Kind of like Better Call Saul with the Gene stuff but it isn’t stretched across the premiere of every season. It will most likely all be in one season.

@@BrandonBrenlla that’s fine everyone can have their own opinion on it. I personally really enjoy the story and like the direction it took. Like, Joel was a cool character and I enjoyed playing as him but he killed a whole compound of people and was killed in retaliation. Same exact thing happened in the Walking Dead with Glenn getting killed by Negan after Rick and the gang killed Negan’s people. Sometimes fan favorite characters just die. The game, to me, is about actions having dire consequences and I think they showed that truly in TLOU2. Plus that Rat King fight is one of my favorite boss battles that I’ve ever played
@@youngrootv I was fully prepared for Joel to die in the game. I just wasn’t a fan with how they handled his death, Abby’s character and storyline, what they did with Ellie and her storyline, and even the side characters I wasn’t a fan of either. But everyone can have an opinion and its 100% fine for others to disagree. Nonetheless I’m very excited for this show!

idk about the actress who plays Ellie in terms of how she looks but I hope she atleast performs well. the actress for Marlene seems fitting and I think Joel's actor will grow on me eventually

As someone who wasn't sold on the concept, and has only played the intro to the first game and then not picked it up again or even tried the sequel, or watched gameplay.. this looks interesting. I'm definitely open to watching your reactions at least.

Okay if anybody didn't notice that close up shot of Joel when it pans slowly from his watch to his face did you not see the gray hairs on his beard?? He obviously was older and that's in part 2....They might split it into 2 seasons. Tell the whole first story in season one and then part 2 will be season 2 of course. They might implement some instances of Part 2 in the first season or who knows idk. That's my guess...
They are adding new stuff to the story.

Been a fan of the franchise, since I discovered the first game on PS3. I never owned one, so I would watch walkthroughs of the game on UA-cam. 😂 I eventually got a PS4, n played the game for myself, as well as the most recent sequel. This trailer gave me chills, n made me tear up a bit. Knowing what I know, the show is still going to wreck me emotionally, just in live action this time. I honestly can’t wait. 🤣👏🏼

Credits on imbd show that some small part characters in the game are gonna be in a lot of episodes. Tommy and Bill are both in almost every episode (Tommy 10 and Bill 9)
You can't go by that. They don't know. They were showing Olivia Cooke was going to be in 8 episodes this season on House of the Dragon, but she wasn't introduced until episode 6. For Falcon and Winter Soldier, they were showing the girl who worked in the restaurant that Bucky dates in episode one was going to be in most of the season, but she only had two episodes.

In last of us part 2 and part 1 you can tell they did try to make Ellie look like Ashley Johnson. I think they did a face scan of her and put it on Ellie.

This is one of the few game franchise that I started and if fucking freaked me out so fucking bad I had to stop. Was something about it that just got me. Probably the sounds as I get more fear from sound than imagery. But looks like I’m gunna have to now that it’s gunna be a series!
