There isn't a actress on this earth that looks identical to ellie AND fits that appearance of looking 14. It wasnt shocking that the adaption of the characters wont look entirely the same. If their acting ability kills the role then it's sold ash.

You're being disappointed because the actress doesn't look exactly like the video game character and then saying that she "looks weird" which is something that she has no control over, but you don't have a problem that they completely changed the look of little mermaid, and then at one point talked about the people that were complaining about ariels looks. From what i saw on game of thrones, she seems like she's a good actress and i feel like she will do ellies character justice....

So he looks like Joel to me not identical obviously but enough to recognize definitely like 70 percent close to joel she’s like 10 percent close to ellie idk how good they will act the role but that’s only half the equation when for me looks matter just as much for me.

i'm sure there were hundreds of actresses during casting that look a lot more like Ellie from videogames, but this one is, evidently, out-acted them all. so i'm gonna trust producers and casting directors to do their job. I was sceptical about the Pascal too, when it was announced, even tho I love him as an actor ever since GoT
As we know from the game Joel is from Texas … Pedro Pascal mostly grew up in Texas if that helps your skepticism of him at all 😁

Yeah, casting based purely on how much someone looks like the person they're supposed to be is extremely limiting and generally ends poorly. Probably at least part of the reason so many live action video game adaptations fail. If you focus that much on just getting the "look" of the character right then all of the other important attributes go by the wayside.
Of course - because no one is gonna look exactly 1:1 to the games characters. It should be talent > looks, and while I can’t speak for Bella Ramsey, I 100% sure Pedro Pascal will deliver in this role. He is extremely committed to the craft and am willing to be my life savings that even if the show is bad, his performance will be praised - although I doubt the show will be bad considering how amazing this teaser was.

I am one of those people who simply cannot comprehend why not hire actors who look similar to the character because that brings a lot to the whole show/movie. I was pissed when they casted Tom as Nate too because I love Uncharted with all my heart.

Faithful adaptations can be a good thing. Branching out with the story is how you end up with trash shows like Halo.
There's about 15+ hours of a videogame they are adapting into a show, how much more branching are you expecting them to cram in?
You also have to realize that the audience for this show is going way beyond the people who just played the videogame.
@@gigi2672 I agree, and no one said that faithful adaptations can't be good. Most of the time those are a lot better than "unfaithful adaptations". Halo didn't just branch out, it did things completely different from the games making it feel like something that doesn't belong in the same universe.
The main point was that I hope they don't completely copy everything the game does, but rather make it in a different light while still keeping the biggest things the same.
Base on the trailer I think they will dive deeper with Tess's backstory, but that's all we're getting as of now
