Good video. Helps explain how sim world doesn't always equal real world. In DCS I have yet to see a single AAM fail to launch, go dumb, hang on the rail, or do any of the other things that make real world A-A missiles have PK's below 100%. Sims are fun entertainment, but they are not the real thing.
A good friend of mine MAJ Thomas Koritz MD was a F-15E Strike Eagle pilot. In 1991 he was killed in Iraq by AAA fire. In my home town of Rochelle, IL they named the airport Koritz Field after him. He was a good man

The nomenclature for the switch on your throttle quadrant is TDC, an abbreviation for Target Designator Control. It moves the "Captain's Bars" on the RADAR scan. Once a target is located within the two vertical cursors, the switch is pushed inward to designate that target as the target of interest. Able Avionics Specialist, F15, F16, and F111 1982-1988, Nuclear Weapons Specialist 1988-1990
The "C" is my all time fav. It's amazing how long it's been in service and still as capable as it is.

F-15C is the best air combat aircraft ever built. I maintained the weapons system on it for 11 years.
Watching the F-15s take off at the Portland Air National Guard base was always super cool

Awesome video! I love hearing an actual fighter pilot's take on DCS fights. The F-15C is such a beast! Love it!
Growling Sidewinder is extremely skilled and I highly recommend his content. Also if you want a combat doctrine for BVR and radar use that does not give away our secrets then I would say using his methods from the tutorials he gives and adhering to them might be a good way of preserving OPSEC. He developed those BVR techniques himself and also do things you would NEVER do in real life for good measure will keep those secrets safe and still allow you to have some fun. If all else fails, there are the 2nd and 3rd Gens to play with.
He's easily the best that I've seen. I'm sub'd to Longshot and the Grim Reapers too, but GS is the king. Any recommendations for anyone else?

GS isn’t even a pilot. He plays dcs. He’s also not in the Air Force or the military in any sense. He is a content creator.
@@reboundrides8132 That's the whole point I was making. It means he knows no state secrets or anything that could compromise OpSec. This means all tactics and doctrine he teaches in his videos can be used safely by any former or current pilots making content.
MiG-29 is good fighter aircraft but F-15C is monster in avionics. Current F-15C with AESA radar & AIM-120D is more dangerous than the older ones.
My mom worked for MCDONNELL Douglas, yup the Golden Eagle. First design started in the late ‘50s to first flight in ‘72. Still the one to beat.

Hi Max, LOVE your channel! Did you ever experience G-LOC in your F-15?? Does the auto-pilot take over if you do or did???
Mudhen won't let you max g unless the CFTs are removed. The only time they do that is for Functional Check Flights after major maintenance, otherwise the F-15E is configured with heavy CFTs and weapons that reduce its ability to turn hard.
The C model is a good aircraft / old but good in both 1 circle and 2 circle / it has amazing nose authority when going to the merge and most other jets have trouble staying out of it / but all fighters are good in different ways / growling is a dude that just loves aviation in general and treats each opponent fairly / regardless of whether it’s red or blue / there’s some damn good birds out there on all sides

Just finished an ECS mod on a E last night. E’s are really great but there’s just something about the C model man. It’s like back in the 90s when you favorite truck converted to fuel injection…yeah it’s nice and all but there’s just something about an ole carburetor 🥲
I'm Avionics on C's and have only heard about some of the differences on the E. Man I wish the C had the flight control computer setup and air inlet controllers the E's have. 😅

The MiG-29 has a horrible combat record. Pathetic, actually. It's lost to just about every single plane it's ever fought against.

I just read that they are retiring the 15 C and D along with F22. The U2 in maybe 2026? The F15EX upgrade an obvious replacement to the C and D and possibly F22 but what will replace U2? Sattelites? Balloons?
I work on F-15Cs and yes we are retiring them. We just sent a jet to the boneyard a couple weeks ago and 3 others earlier this year. They are still the worlds greatest air to air killing machine but the airframes and systems are worn out. They'll still kill any Russkie jet out there but its time for new airframes or next gen platforms.

No, I didn't want them to survive and come back up to fight again if I had gotten a 'Kill'. His loss the first time was one of the most graphic training events possible. Next time he might be better. Jim 'D'port' Davenport, F-4C/D/E WSO and USAF Lt Col (Ret). The depiction of the Light Gray's radar made me cry. The APQ-109 and APQ 120s I struggled with were stone age in compaison. But, then again, so am I!
In the movie Red Dawn. The pilot said it was 5 to 1. I got 4 of em.
Watching these fights with you I have a better feeling how powerful and deadly the F15 series was and still is. Once the S400's are down the F15's can keep the air space clean. That let's the F22 and F35 spend more time in the edge of the battle space where they have the edge. People call the F15 a missile truck but it's a defender with a ton of missiles that can work on it's own. Thanks.
It would be interesting to hear an assessment of how we could provide fighter protection for our drones. F35s operating from Turkey or Poland? I think I read that they're going to start operating U2s in the area.

I know your probably asked this a lot,but since you have experience in both fighters,In a guns and Sidewinder only dogfight,Which will win:
Eagle or viper?
If you spam 4 in the same time window - early - chances are, that they all miss in same manner on target. First ones to set up, or to get entry into NEZ.. one or two to kill at last. Long shots are normally a geometrical set up game until position of superior launch opportunity is created (defense ability mandatory at all times), but what do know about DCS missile dynamincs. I usually do BFM.
The F16 is my favorite but the F15 is a super close 2nd.
You know what they say: Fighter pilots make movies, bomber pilots make history, so I will take the F-15E when it comes out, thank you very much! ;)
My favourite Gen 4 fighter is the McDonnell Douglas/Boeing F-15C Eagle USAF Air Superiority Fighter.
I wonder if the following aerial engagement scenario would be realistic. U.S. Gen 5 SEAD/DEAD aircraft in deep penetration missions succeed in eliminating the adversary's AD. Immediately thereafter, several squadrons of F-15EX in fighter configuration (12 AAMs) follow on in full afterburner to interdict enemy aircraft in the battle space. My inference is that stealth would be a lesser issue than it had been with the preceding deep penetration operation, so they apply speed and manoeuvrability and more advanced, longer-ranged, tracking radar to strike first. What is your assessment of my inferences of combat procedures?
I believe this is GS in the engagement video. GS does love his inverted missile shots. Usually works out for him. The only time you have to worry is when GS says, "I think I'm good", that is usually when the KIA pops up afterward.

I think that might depend if you have other aircraft providing datalink guidance for the initial phase after launch. It’s semi-active… it also depends on the range it’s launched?

Question: why not develop a missile with both IR and radar tracking? I suspect that they haven't figured out how to scale down the seeker heads, but the software should be fairly straightforward. Radar gets you close; radar+IR gets you the kill. ???
the IR seeker would be in the way of the RADAR unless the missile was double stacked or something.
TDC - Throttle Designator Controller.
A lot of HOTAS options available for flight sim use actually have them these days, too. I run a HOTAS Warthog setup but even my old T16000 throttle has one. So even HOTAS that are not replicas can have a TDC. It is really nice not having to bind the TDC to arrow keys or something.

@@szlash280z ahh I was just going off what I knew about the f18, witch has a Throttle Designator controller for slewing the TGP. do you mean the right stick? i have never seen a Throttle on the right side in a Fighter jet like the F15 16 or 18
@OneTapGrey no worries, I was just helping out. the throttles are both on the left of the cockpit but they are split for the two engines. they can move independently. the right grip has the majority of the controls on it. left side just has the elevation wheel for the radar vertical scan control, a switch to dispense chaff/flares and another button that I think steps through saved targets. I never have to mess with that one so I forget what it does.

Does really matter for you, if earth is flat or globe or what ever? What if earth is flat, so what? Or globe? Or egg shape? We simply dont know, thats fact! No airplane can fly so high to see the earth as it is!
All what we have are generated textures and putet togethet as map, no real image, all you can find on google or nasa webpage, are not real.
Why they cant go back to moon? They never were there, its not a conspiracy. Nasa was asked, why they dont go again, they said: well we lost the documments how to build the rocket again. But i thought we have better technology since then, we fly to mars, to bars, to lars, pegasus trillion miles, etc.. my friend they lie us, but as i said, we dont know how the earth mooks like, and Ryan dont know either, he was only a pilot.
