Sure, you lost the MiG, but you took out two Flankers and two Frogfoots, spoiled the enemy strike mission, and you ejected... safely? As long as you make it back to friendly lines unhurt and they have another jet, I'd call that a success.
I suppose it was inevitable but really thought you'd get away with it! Great mission.
Thanks, that was a fun one
That pincer move from the 2 incoming Flankers was quite well executed for AI.
Without the situational awareness, your chances were very little from the start. Great fight and great video 🤘
His SA was pretty good indeed but without GCI or AWACS it's hard to tell how far an enemy is
"I guess that's what flankers do, they flank." That had me laughing like an idiot!
The Mig 29 is one of my favorite looking jets for sure.
Your videos are so entertaining! It's like watching a movie; feels like an extended cut of Top Gun II, how you go back and forth from cockpit to external views to tell the story, the best when you express your feelings in the moment. Keep up the great work Longshot!
Thanks!
@@LongShotChannel Your eye for cinematics is incredible, enjoy the weekend buddy!
Couldn't agree more.
Yes, that's true. Except that maybe these episodes was happening in Ukraine at the beginning of russian invasion. So for Ukrainian pilots, that was not entertainment
Almost like a movie. Awesome work. Love these.
Thanks!
Id love to see a post fight analysis to see how the flankers approached and engaged
Hi Longshot.
This technique was tried by Serbian (Yougoslav) Air Force in 1999 against NATO planes. It didn't work well. They too were flying on Mig-29A but with GCI.
The problem was AWACS. As soon as MIGs were airborne they were detected by AWACS and an interception package was directed on them (pair of F-15s).
MIGs were shot with AIM-120 in BVR fight
In your mission Russian side had A-50 which should have had detected you but it didn't. Once detected R-77 would have entered into the play with the interception package.
Mig-29A is out of its league. It is a plane suited for 1980-1990 air war not for modern conflict.
Never the less it was a good video.
I hope you didn't insulted my country (Serbia)...
this is very true, the ukr.s have had, for this reason, almost nul successful air action.
This is not a mig29a this is a mig29s , true he wouldnt have stood a chance but migs are definitely not old the UPG and SMT variant especially even if ukraine had F-16s in this situation it wouldnt have mattered
Longshot, that was some of the greatest flying I've seen from you. Spectacular!
Thanks so much man!
I think the pinecones in your radar dish from running so close to the trees is what hampered you from finding them. Nice intercept on the attack package though!
LOL I might have a few in there
"your wingman just got wasted from surprise rear attack... its fine, just keep flying straight "
Great video! Wasn't expecting the surprising outcome in the end.
One of my favourite aviation novels was written back in the 1970's by a bloke called Derick Robinson, called "Goshawk Squadron", and covers the attempt in 1918 of a very dysfunctional squadron commander called Augustus Wolley to teach his replacement pilots the realities of war in the air. (it won the Booker Prize the year it was published). In it, Wolley tries to hammer into his "Sporting and Chivalrous" public schoolboys the idea that it's all about "Sneaking up on the other poor bastard, shooting him in the back and then running away before his friends realise you're there".
This, Sir, was a textbook example of just that. You are a certified Arial Assassin. Beautifull. The first warning that strike package had that you were there was when they started blowing up. Absolutely beautiful.
Everybody: You lost sight of them, you're lost, you don't even know where they are.
Longshot: Hah! Tactical lateral offset to slide right in behind them! Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom.
realistically, that's a great job! unfortunately you didn't manage to get out but i mean a strike package was completely destroyed so that's great.
He completed his primary objective - as a lone pilot without AWACS or GCI support, that's more than can be expected.
Very cinematic, wonderful! Thank you very much!
Thanks so much

Loving the missions and maybe try more intercept missions or even more CAS! Everyone loves some CAS
this was great !! loved it. have to say the flankers were awesome at the end. the difference in power
Where did urks get R-77s? They fly their migs with R-27Rs
You downed 4, they downed 1, I'd say you still won that
Thought you were going to bag those Flankers at the end but you got 4 before that! As usual, great footage outside the jet!
Just a thought but it would be cool if you identified the ground assets as to what type they are as you encounter them.
Personally, I enjoy this kind of content way more than the 1vs1 merge fights.
Really great!
Always good to see the Mig-29
Please, what parameters did you have in weather to hace this beautifull enviroment?
Mounth? Day? Temperature?
I couldnt get it.
Thanxs!
You did what you were assigned to do and went out with your boots on, Longshot! Great video!
Glad you liked it, thanks
he ejected = alive
And he got 4:1 favorable ratio for his side
Seat of the pants, nap of the earth. Very high pucker factor. Nice vid
Now you get to walk back home through the woods. In the snow.
You were really down in the weeds there, _under_ treetop height. Maybe you should change your callsign from "LongShot" to "The Logger."
Great video Longshot and a great start to my Friday - breakfast, and coffee while watching a Longshot DCS video - life does not get any better than this. Soon it will be the weekend and I will be playing DCS myselfe. Stay safe Longshot and blue skies! o7
Thanks so much, glad you have fun, hope you get to join DCS soon
@@LongShotChannel Every Tuesday, Friday and Satuday Sir. I have been playing DCS for more than 10 years, but I am nowhere close to your skill level Sir!
Oh, sorry, I thought you going to get DCS this weekend
@@LongShotChannel No problem Sir, I have been into combat flightsimulators for the past 30+ years...(its actually 40+ years, but then you would know how ancient I am...lol...late 1980s a time when the sky was blue and the ground green and not much else in the simulators - we didnt even have real 3D back then...but it was fun!)
Yeah, i get the sense you'd have to intentionally choose mountains and stay around them all the way back to safety, so radar locks wouldnt stay constant on you - you'd have to see k out the highest terrain and go to it, to sneak egress out
This was a cool mission!
Nice mission idea, keep-up the good work!
The only thing is that AFAIK Ukraine doesn't have the R-77 but Russian Flankers do. It just shows *some* of what Ukrainian pilots are up against IRL. Balls of steel.
Hope that they accomplish integration with the Aim-120 in the polish donate mig 29. But yeah, probabily they going to NASANs.
It shows a game and has nothing to do with real life.
My first time on your channel, although I'm familiar with you from GS.
Longshot is a cool calsign, but I think GOPHER might be more appropriate.
are these other dcs players or do you just setup a scenario and the program sets it up and runs it?
Some badass low level flying 👍
That was awesome!
If that was me flying I would've hit the power pole there. Never fails
Would be interesting to see some variation of this with a more realistic/limited loadout. Ukraine's jets dont have any Fox-3s. The Migs have only had R-27ERs (2x R27, 4x R73), with Flankers generally having a mixed load of R-27ER, R-73, and a pair of R-27ETs (Pics of the one that flew to Romania on night one are a good resource. That jet had 5x R27ER, 1x R-27ET under the right wing only, and 4x R-73). Could similarly get a wingman and do air defense vs cruise missiles, something they've been using their jets for a lot, and where much of the "dogfight" footage has come from.
A bold effort 👍
Good fight Ghost...
So happy for regular LongShot uploads 😎
I appreciate that buddy, thank you!
A 4:1 kill ratio while being outnumbered is not too shabby!
The ending was to be expected... Flankers will flank....
Finally mig29 content ❤️
Stay sneaky my friend
Great video, just wish you used tws2 on the intercept. otherwise i Love seeing the mig29
That would be a hard ask of any jet.
Fairwell, Ghost of Kyiv. O7
Well - Even if you lost your Mig, your sortie would be considered a great success for your cause.
I just love you're mig 29 video please make more
MiG-29 doing its sneaky thing and then getting Flanked by Flankers...this is textbook stuff
You should try the same scenario but with a Russian fighter sweep ahead of the strike package -or- do the same scenario you did but with a Russian AWACS present.
Dammit! I just got FLANKED! ;D
i liked the action but was this a real scennario? It is not likly they would not have known you where in the warzone with all the defences set to intercept bandits like you?
Where did you enter the warzone or is it just a drop into the zone by DCS? Sorry for my english writting but its not my native language lol.
I was thinking you were awfully high on that egress.
You did garet long shot good fight
I guess that's what flankers do... They flank. That's funny
I want to see the second half of this mission. Evading helo search teams to meet up with rescue.
I think it was a great success
why are you saying that you dont know what the escort planes are? do you not create these missions yourself?
All late 4th gen fighters can flank, I'm more concentrated on the striker's advantages and role despite having disadvantages too. 🤔
Flankers gonna flank.
Successful mission.
Short summary: you suprised them, they suprised you
Wouldn't the awacs have detected him and vectored the first flankers on?
Are those a R-77
Never mind. You've been hugely successful already and I'm sure you'd have received a medal of honor post mortem.
You need to die for it to be post mortem
@@troyverburg9600 which he did, no?
@@danield.7359 no he bailed out
@@troyverburg9600 yeah, but then he fell into a tree and broke his neck.
@@danield.7359 , that's true, or the KGB got to him
Mig-29s are miniature Su-27s
Why R-77's?
Great mission 4 to 1 kill
"they flank"
That's why they called flanker.
Why do you keep your radar off until the last moment. If you don't lock them, they won't get warning. So what am I missing?
his radar sends out waves which bounce off other aircraft and send those waves back so that he may detect them, the enemy planes have Radar warning receivers to let them know when someone is looking or locking on to them.
in the video you can hear beeping when a radar bounces off him and tones for when hes locked.
@@scavmanbad4263 yes but not if he is using his Electric Optical system so he shouldve just had it ln the whole time right
Mig-29 D ....D of Diesel...
Very entertaining video as always
Thanks so much
4:1 is a good
Ukraine Fulcrums and Flankers does not have R-77s unfortunately, only R-27, R-73 or R-60, so it`s unrealistic a bit )
Muh globo
Trying to "FLANK" the Flankers... Got "FLANKED" by the Flankers instead.. Eh!!???
Terrain Mod ?
Dump your bag when it's empty.
How would the Ukrainian MiG-29s have R-77s?
did your job and fall like a knight
wow, Soviet aircraft
Are these online players your up against ....
I fly the MiG-29 the best, definitely my favorite plane in DCS.
but the ukranian fighters can't use the R-77 Fox 3 missiles it can use only The R-27 ER or ET Fox-1 or Fox-2 or the R-73 Fox-2
Im da biggest bird
1:1
i dont think ukraine has r77 missiles
12:28 that was so satisfying
Just to watch Ukrainian jet destroyed
хоч в грі це побачиш)
Great video :)👍! I really enjoy ur content, keep it up! I would love to see more missions about the Ukrainian air combat!
if ukraine could exhaust one old mig29 to destroy 2 flankers and 2 su25 i'd call that a win lol
Love the livery, Longshot.
Слава Україні!
Fox 3? Ukranian Mig 29?.... What?🗿
Edited: What I mean is Ukranian ones don't have any Fox 3 capable missiles available (by now). Usual AA loadout for Ukranian Mig 29 is 2xR-27 and 4xR-73
Well... I had it 😜
@@LongShotChannel now I am confused. As in this video I see R 77 under your wings
@@LongShotChannel Aha, okay, gotcha now XD Try next time using R-27's instead of FOX 3
@@LongShotChannel As R-77 is a russian missile, it is quite strange to see it under Ukranian Mig XD
Thank you for the vid! I loved that u flew under the Ukrainian colors, especially when it's almost the 1 year anniversary of a full scale wаr

Wrong weapons. Should have activated your Zulu sidewinders. You’re a dead already, just eject.
ukrainian scheme got shid on as usual
Ukies had some jets left by a more highly developed civilization, but all of them had already been shot down, most of them by their own air defense :D
