I think you are the first person who understood the pain of a xplane simmer coming to msfs. Best video🙏
Thanks a lot for this! MSFS set up just like XP11's! Cheers!

Finally I found someone who could explain the custom camera setups WITH the associated keystrokes!! Good job young man!
As a sim-pilot with 1000s of X-Plane hours, I found I just couldn't use MSFS due to camera clumsiness... My disappointment of X-Plane 12's dark cockpits, etc. forced me to give MS another try and THIS VIDEO has made all the difference. THANK YOU !!!
Thanks so much for that, Sim.
I had set up my system according to your intructions before but for some reason after installing the latest drivers for my sound system I found that all my settings had reverted. I was delighted to find your tutorial again and reestablish some normality. Thanks again!
As much as I love where MSFS2020 has gone. This game has the most insane set of key bindings. Well... not as bad as Star Citizen that is.
The problem is when you bind a key and it does not delete the previous binding, like 99% of programs on the market. It should at least ask you to delete when you assign new, instead of making one to find and delete. Dumb as a box of rocks. It also double assigns yokes, throttles etc. Then it crashes..... 3-4 times a day.
Couldn't have been a better explained video mate nice one!!
Excellent!! This is the video I have been waiting for. I am an X-Plane 11 guy and bought MSFS 2020 because of the spectacular visuals. One of the things that makes a flight sim good is an excellent and easy camera system, either native or add-on (ChasePlane is not yet available for MSFS 2020, but I have found it very useful in P3D). Unfortunately MSFS 2020 lacks this at this time, and I found myself clinging to X-Plane 11 and avoiding MSFS 2020. That is going to change now because of your excellent video. Thank you again
Great video, thanks.
A) What helped me as well was to raise or lower my seat so that when I look straight ahead I'm even with the Horizon straight ahead.
C) in setting choose Camera then adjust Zoom to in-between 80-90.
Default is 50 & that is not realistic.
Zoom is "Field of View".
One TV/monitor should be a 45 degree field of view. 80 on zoom will get you there.
Once you best to zoom 80 then move back in seat a bit & save that a default or custom view.
I'm new to MSFS and this is pure gold!
Thanks! This is exactly what I needed to know to get out of MSFS shortcut hell! Now it makes sense.
Appreciate the help. If you do decide to do any other videos, go ahead and do them. Your chronological approach is easy to understand. Thanks again.
Thank you very much for your help with the view settings. This just what I have been looking for. I have been flying XP11 but I now also own MSFS. Right! Time to get things set up 🤩✈️
Thats a well done job Mr.Sim.
Thanks a lot for this extremely informative video. Searched for hours before I found it. Makes sim heck of a lot more fun.
Many many thanks from us simmers for a brilliant tutorial, these settings were putting me off msfs, but now i'm flying. You must have racked your brains to find all this and saved us all a real headache. Absolutely brilliant. Robert Wood, Rothesay, Scotland UK
No problem.
Now if only I could find a way to use the top row of numbers to change the external views instead of using the camera menu overlay.....
Thanks so much for this info!! Helped a ton getting my views set up!!
Excellent, this really got me started. Thanks!
Thank you very much for a great and simple video. Was able to get my views up to XPlane standard. Just could not do so until I watched it.
Thank you so much for the straight forward and very useful information !
You, sir; Are a life saver. This is exactly the information I was seeking.
You are welcome friend.
cheers best explanation so far, well done and thanks.
thanks, man. really great video. id say its the best out there. definitely makes sense now.
Many thanks for taking the time to do this. It's really helped:)
Glad it helped
Thanks...been struggling for a while to set it up. Greatly appreciated.
Welcome brother, just wish MS made it a bit easier for us to do.
Thanks so much! What a great and straight video. A well deserved Thumbs Up and happy to be your newest subscriber. Please keep up with your great job helping us.
Glad to be able to find this again. For some reason all my key bindings previously set disappeared!
Great just what I needed to now, THANK YOU.!!!!!
You are welcome.
Thanks Captain, very usefull for those X-Plane Pilots testing the MSFS2020 Thanks!!!!
Thank you so much! Simple and straight to the point!
Very cool. Thanks for sharing this. Fortunately, when you get your hotas setup, you'll also be able to move many of your views, with the hat switches. On my Thrustmaster hotas throttle, there's even an analog stick, which allows smooth, and slow panning, and tilting of the camera. Over on the side stick, it's hat switch will let you cycle through the panel vies, by pulling down on the hat, then pushing it right, til you find the desired panel. But I like the idea of being able to just push one button to get to a desired view.
The best view binding short cut seen until now!!!Thanks you!😀
I stole it from XP11. And I wanted it in MSFS because it just worked so well, so thought I would port it over and share. Glad you like it friend.
@@simgeeks378 Yes i am use to Chaseplane for P3d, pretty much the same.
Thank you for this video. I gonna try out your settings.
Thanks for this very helpful video. I am also an X-Plane user and need to configure my MSFS camera presets the same. I will now go and follow these instructions.
Many thanks for this video! The rubbish view system was holding me off of MSFS in the past. I’ll give it a retry with this familiar X-Plane system.
Leave it to Microsoft/Assorbo to have one of the most convoluted setup. Thanks for the video and simplifying what should have simple to begin with.
Thank you! That's really helpful!
Just came across your tutorial...thank you thank you thank you...saved me binning MSFS due to its incredibly clunky view options :)
Great video , thank you for your support.
Great tutorial, thanks!
Excellent so easy to follow well done Sir, thank you so much
Great tutorial, now I might be able to stand this sim a little more.
Brilliant easy and simple tourtial, thank u
Thankyou, very well done!
Thumb Up ! Subscribed ! Thank you, very usefull !!
Excellent info thank you
Great stuff 👍
You are welcome.
Well explained!
Thanks for this. X-plane controls for views are so much easier. Perhaps useful to duplicate the default keyboard mappings and work on the duplicate when making these modifications, not least because you might want different settings for different aircraft later on. But, when I did it, it spent ages thinking about changing the name afterwards, so worth getting the right name first time. And it's easier to remove unwanted mapping to the same key by using the key itself rather than scrolling through the list.
Good tip!
you are a life saver lol thnks a milon
V Useful. It took me a while before I realised that I had the set wrong. becomes and caused me to go to external view all the time !
Excellent tutorial thanks. And please do more
Thanks for your kind words Tim.
Thanks a lot for the help.
This was very helpful, Thank you! June 2022 California USA
Well done!
Top!!! Most useful!
Glad to hear that!
you are a life saver
Great video. Subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you. I agree with Greg. Asobo should have just paid Laminar about 10 million for a simple control system.
Perfect! Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Great video...thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Thank you!!!
Fantástic 👍
Hi! this was very helpful! Can you maybe make a Video about how to have xp11 controls in general for MSFS2020 I just cant get warm with the MSFS Controls and would like to basically copy as much as possible from XP11 for MSFS 😀
Thanks .. so much easier
You're welcome!
What I found particularly handy with XP11 was that when I pushed the same button a second time, the camera returned to the previous view.
In msfs2020 the camera always goes back to the base view.
For me it was perfect and I miss it a lot.
In summary: I am in left view and I click the throttle view button. I push back the throttle view button a second time and go back to left window view.
It worked in XP11 for customer view 0 to 9...
thank you, sir.
thank you really informative any chance you can do the same to set up the POV switch?
Liked, Subscribed. Great video. I expect more tutorials from you to make our lives easier lol 😁 I take it if you want to use a Hat Switch to toggle through the views, you can assign this? I believe I saw K and ALT K for your bindings?
thanks brother
THANKYOU
Very useful. Thanks.
Hopefully, you do an external camera version
I've tried. I used to use the numbers at the top of the keyboard (1-9) to get my external views in XP11, there's no way to do it here I've seen so far - so we are stuck with using the bar at the top which is very clunky.
Well done Mr. Sim Geek, you sir are a "steely-eyed missile man" thank you so much just what I wanted to know. Do I have to do that with each aircraft now?
Excellent. I’ve tried this so many times and failed until now. Feels like I’m back in xplane 👏👏👏
Glad it helped!
I suggest if you gonna do it this way go through your Num. Keys and Ctr. And clear al current imputs before reassigning them. Do this by, Search By Imput, and delete everything to those keys first. It'll be much much easier.
Thank you very much !
You are welcome!
When checking the Inputs for duplicates you can click on the 'Search by Input box' (above Select an Input) and when it changes colour simply press the key e.g. Num1 and it will show all the relevant bindings. Saves scrolling through the list.
Nice, cheers!
This helped me understand the keyboard bindings section of MSFS2020 better however when I chose "new" for my FBW A320 I was not able to press "esc" to get back into my control settings. Does it make more sense to just copy the "default" keyboard setting and work from there? Excuse my ignorance if this question is irritating..:-)
You know if I can invert the mouse to make the click hold and drag feel like XPlane? Do you know if it is possible to have the same free camera we get in XPlane by pressing c?
So if I brought a separate Numeric Keypad would the keys have separate bindings to my keyboard?
Thank for this. Any idea how you can reset cockpit view but keep any applied zoom or translation? I can't figure it out. Best I have is I set a custom view but for some reason I need to press it twice to get me back to my saved view?! The first press takes me to some strange angle. So frustrating!
thanks man very helpful
Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks !!!!
I have MS Flight Simulator X and whenever I go to External View all I see is a propeller, not the entire Airplane. Please help!!! What do I do to fix?
do youe have to have the num lock key ON or OFF ?
Do you know of a solution to set the external view to a second monitor? Thx
thx
Hello friend, what is the shortkey to activate "camera menu" please on keyboard ?
Your explanation is quite good and simple. What I don't know is why it does not work in my system. I do exactly all your suggested steps and clean any duplicate key but in the game nothing happens. You set you view, click ctrl + the num to store it and when you go back to the original position and click the num where the view is stored, nothing? What may be happening, any clue? One thing, I have multiple monitors setup (3)...
Thanks a million. Works great. Do you have to do it for each plane. Can it be copied to all planes.
How to relate the zoom level in the MSFS to the XP FOV?
Brilliant tutorial, thank you. I would assume I could do the same process with the default "Drone" camera assigned keys as well as I only use a few (Number keyboard).
Not sure Kevin, I use an Xbox controller for the drone and havent really messed with the drone settings 👍
@@simgeeks378 OK thank you.
Thanks ....great ....you are working from comparing X plane camera s system......could you tell how I get rid of the annoying pop up tags you get any time you hover yr mousepoint over knobs and flightinstruments?
Yes - I found the X-Plane camera system so intuitive, so thought I'd set up what I know best on MSFS. 'Mouse over tool tips' - I know what you mean, I cant turn mine off either, I read somewhere its a bug because it should be controlled in 'Assistance' and 'Notifications' - all mine are off but they still pop up when I hover over all the knobs, dials and buttons. Hopefully this is something else they fix in the next patch.
COCKPIT CAMERA : Why when I push a second time on the same button I have the "pilot view" (by default) which appears? I want to have the last view displayed. Exactly like in the Xplane11 cameras. Is it possible ? Thanks for your appreciate help !
Just installed MSFS and am a bit lost concerning the camera (I'm an XPlane user) and it's config. Thanks for the life line. Will these mods be over written with each MSFS update?
Very nice job, thanks for this. Amazing contribution. Plans on making an external view video?
Yes, next few days, I think I found the way.
C’est magnifique, mon ami. (Spoiler alert - I’m not French - Lol!) Meanwhile, I’ve subbed.
But my big question, is can I do this reset and still be able to scroll views in cockpit and move around it as before? I ask because I love that ability to be retained even after changing over to the X-plane 11 view mode.
What do you press on the keyboard to move the camera down... so the view isn't so high up?
Space bar is default I believe. Or, if you follow my tutorial, the arrow key up and down moves you up and down.
I can't look around inside the plane the camera doesn't move around please I need help tell me what to do I think the problem is on the camera settings but I try everything it doesn't work..
First off, try restoring your controls to default settings and work from there
Very useful. Thanks! Now, if you could figure out how to make the POV on my Thrustmaster A320 Joystick act like it did in X-Plane (as well as the Right-button on the mouse) so I can smoothly scroll around the cockpit, that would be the Bees-Knees.
Answering my own inquiry: Found another UA-cam Video that answered my question about the POV hat. So, I'm happy as a hog in a mud pile.
@@Topcat1952 Can you send the YT link, please?
@@eddeig I would but that was a year ago and I cannot remember where I saw it. I think it was done by Simhangar. If you search on POV Hat Thrustmaster you may find it.
