You Have Single Handedly Helped me by doing a Splendid Job of Explaining in such Detail. I am now really Enjoying my flying immensely and That is Thanks to you Sir! This Even Works with Airbus!! Wow. Much Appreciated from Toronto Canada! Super!! I might have to skip work for a Week!! Thank you very Much!!
That's an amazing comment 😉
@@Huddison wow I never seen a youtuber reply back to comments as you do cheers to you and for the great videos
@@easternhops I feel it's important to respond; after all, I'm only doing this because of you chaps 😉
Your Explanation is Simple with NO Confusing Jargon. I come back to your site very often , just to Refresh. Thanks Again.
golden age ist a good way to describe FSX, as there everything "view" was easy and straightforward. Thanks for your viedeo
Hi, thanks for this video, you also need to set in General Settings > Camera > POV RESET to MANUAL if you want to use HAT Switch to control External View
THANK YOU
That was driving me insane…
Thank you, that was my issue!
After many years of FSX adventures, just few hours ago I got MSFS with an annoying attitude, gratefully I found your tutorials and already makes me feel home like FSX, now I can enjoy FS even more, stunning views indeed plenty time to discover as I started with FS2004 ! Let the Flight adventures go on ! Thanks pal
Fantastic comment - glad to be of help ;)
Great help! Thanks for doing that video. I was so frustrated that I couldn't get my HAT in FS2020 to work as it did in FSX. Now it does! Now I will review your many other FS videos and will stay on top of your contributions going forward. Thanks for being there to help us.
Wonderful comment; thanks to you too.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you a million times!!! I have hated the "view"system in MSFS every since my first flight... basically bad enough that I just don't fly the new sim. Using your incredibly detailed (and very easy-to-understand) video, I now have a fully functioning hatswitch like I have enjoyed for decades in my beloved FS2004 and FSX. You have made me incredibly happy! Thank you so much!!!!! -Glenn Mullis
You're most welcome Glenn :)
I have owned MSFS for eight months and have been using and hating my mouse for external views. You SIR have totally transformed my world.
Glad to be of help ;)
Huddison, recent subscriber and MSFS 2020 user here. Just want to say a huge thank you for videos which are not only always relevant and helpful, but also very clearly presented and explained.
THANK YOU!
Wow, wonderful comment - thank you Andrew! 😊
If you ever come to Western Australia I'll buy you a beer or two and shout you out for dinner. You have helped me immensely. Thanks
Wow deal! ;)
Excellent explanation, clearly and simply set out and has helped me a lot.
Thanks George.
Thanks so much man!I've always been using quick views and it sucks compared to the fsx cams but now it's so much better because of your video thx!
Great to hear.
Glad you mentioned that it's ok to have something bound in two places. I stumbled upon that myself, but it would have been nice to know ahead of time back when I set it up.
I think this will be very helpful to the newer simmers for sure!
Nice vid again! :-)
Thanks Aces, appreciate it :)
A superlative and most informative video on MSFS sir!! Thank you for ALL your videos on MSFS... they continue to be my go-to source for all my questions on MSFS 2020
Happy to be of help Nicolas :)
Going to be setting my TFRP up tomorrow, can’t wait to try them! Thanks for taking the guess work out of the device setup nightmare stage, your suggestions are spot on. I’m so glad I joined Huddison for sure! Now I have to get to bed , I’m hooked so bad I’m losing sleep staying up late flying ! (And No I’m not complaining one bit!)
Lol it is addictive isn't it ;)
thank you very much . These settings make flying even more confortable as I like to use the external view more than the cockpit views
You're most welcome.
Simply Awesome! This was doing my head in! Thanks to you, as usual you have made it a simple task.
I'm learning so much from your vid's

Very easy to follow and clearly spoken, thanks very much. Liked and subscribed.

Omg thank you I been trying to set this up you are the best!!! Subscribed and liked thank you for sharing
Glad to be of service!
Great video, I've watched this video and the drone video, learned so much. Great job sir, make MSFS 2020 so much more enjoyable. On to the cockpit camera setup with I assume is the same as the hat switch video. Thanks again!
Thank you, it is indeed the same hat switch. It's always great to hear feedback like this!
Thanks you so much! Just what I was looking for and easy to follow.

Great video! I am a very happy camper! Thanks!

Thanks very, very much. After one sees what you explain here, it all seems so simple and logical. It is, But it is not intuitively obvious. Without your effort to produce this vid a lot of us would still be flying around wondering how to make use of the hat switch. Do you have any advice for setting it up with the drone camera? Thanks again. Your teaching style is just perfect. don't listen to people who say it needs changing to "a less redundant style. It is good to cover every key-stroke and mouse-click at every step like you do.
Thank you Don, your comment means more than you could imagine :)
Here's my Drone Camera settings video :ua-cam.com/video/-jlS2opv0k4/v-deo.html

Well done. Thank you Sir.
My pleasure.
Bindings are valid in two places!!!! Who knew...not me. Thanks
Yeah handy to know
Very useful, Thx
Simply great. There should be an option in MSFS to print all your keyboard/hotas assignments.
That's a great idea!
@@Huddison I am having a problem when i launch MSFS (after formatting ssd and install) i get message "You are missing packages that are essential to run..." i have reformatted twice and installed FS twice but same message. any idea please?

Thanks nice to get the hat working like fsx
Yeah it makes MSFS feel like home now.
Great work thank you
Thank you ;)
@Huddison, Thanks so much for your excellent tuts!
I just got my Logitech Saitech G Pro Yoke, throttle and rudder pedals, and was able to successfully reassign / remap the axis and buttons assignments by referring to your vids!!
Please tell me, can I assign the same Hat Switch to the Drone camera views too, i.e. the same Hat Switch keys are assigned to Cockpit View, External Camera view and Drone camera view?
You sure can: ua-cam.com/video/-jlS2opv0k4/v-deo.html ;)
@@Huddison thanks a lot!
Another question, are there any changes required in the Logitech flight controller settings / configuration after SU6?

Thank you so much!! Anyway to zoom in like when using the mouse scroll wheel?
I often use the mouse wheel to zoom in & out and quite like it.
Thanks for your video, very concise and informative, can I just ask you one small thing? I have bound all directional POVs to my X55, but when I press END, I can view the aircraft as you would expect, but the view springs back to the rear view, how can I stop this? thanks Jim
Hmm that's an interesting one - I'll give that a little thought; in the meanwhile, you could post the question in Discord as lots of brains there who may be able to help quicker: discord.gg/3kra6JfHZT
Good job thank you
Thanks
Thank you very much I enjoyed the video you help me a lot I'm still not through with it I'd like to ask you a question is this a free swell or is this a snapback swell let me know because I do I have having a problem with a snapback swell is there something I have to disconnect like a lot system or something like that thank you very much
I'm not certain what you mean by free/snapback swell?
I did the very same thing with the cockpit view. Now it works like FS9 and FSX. Now I can look around freely inside.
That's great!
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Thank you for fine videos. I have done exactly what you did. But! I can only rotate 45 degrees from back position. No turnaround. Please HELP!
Can you give some advice on looking around internally in the cockpit..i.e. to see the AP panel, Throttle quadrant etc.....thx
I'll come back to you on this, once I've installed the UK update (it's just gone live!).
I think you can press keyboard combinations of Ctrl and 1,2,3 etc to look around the cockpit instruments; but you can likely set these to a joystick button assignment.
I'm planning a future video on this- stay tuned!
A very informative video. I enjoy your channel. An observation-only, and probably a matter of personal preference, but I think MSFS has their up and down arrows reversed. When I push my hat switch up which is actually forward, I expect to go nose down with the camera just as the nose of the airplane goes down when you push the yoke or control stick forward. The opposite for looking up. I have all my hat switches configured this way in all of my camera and drone views. To me, it just seems natural that the hat switch would act the same way as the aircraft control stick, and confusing to have them opposite.
Yes I see what you mean. Thankfully, it's not to difficult to switch/reverse those views in settings.
Additional info: one can also set the movement speed via the in flight camera menu. My experience is, the speed sliders have to be set rather low, to reach a workable movement speed.
But maybe that differs per system.
Excellent addition - thanks!
@@Huddison I only just noticed, MSFS does not remember the settings after shutting down. Probably it would if one hand-edited a settingsfile, but I think for the time being I will keep changing the slidersettings.
@@bstikkel Yes I expected that - still, it's not to difficult to change the sliders each time.
Thanks for the video. I am having problem with my Logitech yoke. I can fly for a while and then the plane seems to freeze and lose control. do you have any settings that may need adjusted. I have been playing with the sensitivity settings, but have not found anything that changes this behavior. Any help?
You may want to alter some of the settings in 'Assistance options' & 'Piloting'. Essentially, turn off AI control of your aircraft.
Thank you. You got a new subscriber! For the diagonal DL DR UL UR buttons they can work when using the hat but you need to try a few times as the U D L R seem to be picked up more easily...
But I have an unrelated problem with SLEW mode: the default L R forward Backward keyboard keys move the aircraft far too much, and it depends how long you press them. Actually, barely taping them move the AC by hundreds of meters! What do you recommend?
Thanks😊 I'll take a look at slew controls when I'm home this weekend.
The best way I've found to be a bit more precise in Slew mode , is using the default numpad 8 & 2 key-bindings; these only slew the aircraft in small leaps.
@@Huddison Thank you. I actually found better.
You see, numpad 8 2 4 6 in slew mode are fast because they are either pressed or not pressed. It's all or nothing. So I assigned the slew command *to the axises of the stick of my joystick.* Because the axises are going from 0 to 100 %, so by moving the stick just a tiny bit, you get small moves, so they are very precise!
The slew command are part of Camera - not obvious as you may think it's more moving the plane, than using the camera! To find that out: use search for 'slew' on the left field.
So, now:
I assigned:
SLEW TRANSLATE FORWARD to my stick forward (to pitch down)
SLEW TRANSLATE BACKWARD to my stick backward (to pitch up)
SLEW TRANSLATE LEFT to my stick aileron RIGHT: for going left you need to go right, as it works inversely
SLEW TRANSLATE RIGHT to my stick aileron LEFT: for going right you need to go left, as it works inversely
SLEW YAW LEFT to my stick rudder LEFT
SLEW YAW RIGHT to my stick rudder RIGHT
I wanted to fix this earlier, but the Gaming Services update has messed up FS: at every start, I, and other users, need to redo the settings. Read this posts for the details:
forums.flightsimulator.com/t/starting-fs-please-insert-disc-then-i-restart-fs-asks-for-settings-as-in-first-install/368981
forums.flightsimulator.com/t/ui-broken-and-reset-user-settings/368832
By the time I reported in forum + investigated: 3 hours wasted!
@@raymondgoubet Brilliant! I hadn't thought of assigning the slew mode to the Joystick axis.
Shame about your wasted hours though :(
@@Huddison Yes, I wish I had thought before. Do you have that problem when starting FS?
Hello, wonderful tutorial. Followed your advice, it used to work…
But now for some time I have the left, right or whatever direction swirling continuously…
The expected movement does not stop,
I must have altered some other command…. But where and when..?
I even reinstalled msfs completely (a 10 hour pleasure..).
FYI I am using the hat switch on my alfa yoke (honeycomb)
Tia
Are you using the Xbox or PC version of MSFS?
@@Huddison I am using the pc version, I fact the (?) boxed version, 10dvd, (quite a pleasure to install or reinstall ..}
If you have a 8 switch hat you can use the other 4 like look down and up on each side as well.
Yes thanks, I covered that in subsequent videos.
FSXer since 2006, missing the "hat" switch look around in the fs2020, that I just acquired a week ago. So can I set this up for internal view too? Thank you!
Yes I have a video on that somewhere - check my playlists.
Hey...I'm using the CH Flightstick Pro, and this works perfectly for the cockpit view. It also works with the external camera, however after rotating my view with the hat it snaps back to the default position of behind the plane looking forward. Any thoughts HUD? Thanks!
Yes: in Options, go to 'General' & then 'Camera';
in there, scroll down to 'Chase Camera' and change 'POV Reset' to manual (You likely have it on 'Auto').
@@Huddison You're a god!!! You just made my flight simming experience 100 times better!!!
@@davidreisman412 You're most welcome ;)
Well done, great explanation! !eep doing them?
Thanks Stephen, highly appreciated.
Show 👏
Thank you. I got it setup the way you instructed. Just one problem, once I release the hat switch, the view snaps back to looking at the plane from behind. With FSX when I release the hat switch the view of the plane stays in whatever viewpoint I had when I release the switch. So with FSX if I'm looking at the plane from the side and release the hat switch the view stays there, until I touch the hat switch and move the viewpoint elsewhere. Any suggestions? Oh when I use my mouse to do it, the view stay where I put when I release the button.
Under General Options/Camera, ensure you have 'Toggle' selected and _not_ 'Hold'.
@@Huddison Hmm, I checked under camera settings and they were already under 'toggle'. I switched them to 'hold', but it didn't solve the snapping back to a rear view, after releasing the hat switch. So I switched them back to toggle. Any other thoughts, would be appreciated.
what about in the cockpit, MS2020 is totally funky (jacked-up) by default... I want it like X-plane. Can you link me to someone who did the cockpit settings to make sense like x-plane?
Here you go: ua-cam.com/video/v_RCJVsIIJ8/v-deo.html
Dear Hudisson
I followed your instructions for both the cockpit view and external view. The cockpit view works perfect but the external view refuses to stay in place. It always keeps turning around. The settings are as you instruckted. Is there a way to make the the external view the same as the cockpit view using the pov hatswitch.? What did I wrong?

Hi Chris and welcome to MSFS 2020.
I can't help you much with the A320 I'm afraid, as I haven't flown it much in this sim, as yet.
@@Huddison Hi many thanks its not realy about the planes its the AI CO PILOT IN THE SYM IS PLAYING UP BIG TIME WITH ALL THE AIRCRAFT WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST ABOUT THE AI CO PILOT IM SURE OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM
@@chrisharveyjazz I never use the Ai Co Pilot, so can't help you there.
I was ab;e to set this up with my Logitech Hotas stick. However, I can't seem to get back into the cockpit view. Not sure what I need to change. I can take off in the cockpit view, once I go to external view, just not sure how to get back into the cockpit. Any suggestions? Thank you.
The 'End' key on your keyboard will toggle cockpit/External view modes.
Yea, but how do you do it in FSX.???
Hello ,I assign the hat switch for the cockpit view , I follow your instructions for external view hat switch , is there any way to switch back and forth from cockpit to external (I was able to do it on fsx) thank you
The 'End' key on the keyboard will do that by default; or you can set up a button on your flight controls: ua-cam.com/video/WcJo1kCaYk0/v-deo.html
On controller under what name I’ll find the shortcut to assign please
@@MsFs-Train-BOEING-747 look through the video I linked in my previous comment; this clearly shows you where.
Do you know is the same procedure at the prepare 3d simulator?
It's not a sim I own unfortunately.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
How do you set a Hotas button to toggle to external view? It just seems buggy to me. I want to push a button and get inside and outside quickly. External toggle does not work for me.
From memory, I set my 'Prev' button to toggle cockpit/external views. I was able to scan for input with that, with no issues - clear anything that's set to the button, if necessary.
Bravo for all your good videos.
But I have to call for help.. I did apply your advice, and it did work, but it does not anymore!
The camera movement does not stop when I hit, say , look left, the camera swirls around the plane, never stops..!
I guess I miss something, but what??
Can you help?
Tia

Hi Jean, is that just in external mode view it does that?
I can't be sure what's causing that but come and join the discord to see if others can help there: discord.gg/3kra6JfHZT
@@Huddison no, cockpit view is not working as it did..
@@jeanverbist1754 I had that trouble on my Xbox and Hotas one, so I changed the cockpit to quick-views and left the external as pan. It's obviously a bit buggy still.
@@Huddison hello, sorry, not very handy in this « world » ,
Yes, same problem in cockpit view.
I do not want to start looking for the guilty one, but somehow I have this feeling that every update brings its load of changes to one’s settings.
I have some proof of that. I was convinced to keep v-sync (in graphics settings) to « off », and yet found it set back to «on » recently.
Msfs is wonderful but steep learning.
Thank you for any help..

@@Huddison is there someone else messaging with the same name…
'Click up and left, which is right...' perhaps 'correct' might have been less confusing than 'right'.
Is there any way to slow down the hat switch speed?
Yes go to camera views (menu at the top) and turn down the sliders.
Using a Logitech joystick, and followed the instructions, and it changes the view, but it doesn't stay in place, once the hatch is released, the view skips back to the rear view. :(
You have 'hold' view enabled instead of 'toggle'.
I have MS Flight Simulator X and whenever I go to External View all I see is a propeller, not the entire Airplane. Please help!!! What do I do to fix?
It's difficult to tell what is going on there - come and join the Discord: discord.gg/3kra6JfHZT and we can help work you through it.

Which box?
This should be titled "Microsoft: Please stop messing with what were formerly perfect flight control sensitivities and camera settings and hot keys"
They tried to fix something that wasn't broken lol RIP
Great info, but you don´t really need to say "left click" for every command you make. It´s assumed people know how to use a computer if they reached your content.
Thanks for you comment; I consider it constructive and will take it onboard.
There are a variant demographical number of users with MSFS 2020: some may have intermediate experience with computers; others may be relative newbies - I am just 'covering all bases' in my approach to my videos, without (hopefully) coming across being overly patronising :)
Its absolutely constructive. It gets repetitive. Keep up with the content.
No no no your’re wrong. Huddison’s teaching method is very helpful. Too many you tubers wave the mouse around and say set this or that and it’s impossible to follow. Here there is no doubt what to do and repetition is very helpful. This is the first Huddison video I’ve found and I just subscribed. Huddison, keep it up. Thank you.
