just came across your video, and it is an absolutely fantastic help, playing with views and all sorts of cameras was always tricky for me, I can't say how much stress is saved by these quickviews, thank you!
I honestly need friends like you. Just like casually do a wing view tutorial and share it on UA-cam...oh man the blessings the universe will bring your way....awesome share. Thanks a million
I searched and searched and gave up on this. Then just by chance was reading up on another board where where someone asked for this and a person linked your video. What a find! Thanks a lot!
Very helpful and so easy! As an extra precaution, since it's a lot of work to save views in any number of planes, it's a good idea to copy the saved camera files on a jump drive or on the cloud just in case you'll ever need to reinstall the sim software on a new computer set up or if something corrupts.
For those of you who have Steam and can't find the files and looking for a solution, set up a view first with a bogus view then search for C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\SimObjects\Airplanes, if the only thing you see is state, then you haven't done this and this is why make sure you set up your view first so in the file it updates with your set number then you can set up your real view instead of the one in the cockpit I hope this helps.
Hey @XP72 i have done everything but now i cant see my pilots in the cockpit i dont know if i saw them before i did all your steps . Could u please take a look at it ?
Thank You! You just solved my question about wing views. Thank you for being so thorough, it was so pleasant to hear and watch your tutorial as if you were here in person to show me how to do it. I subscribed!
I don’t have a “Translate Cockpit View Up” and “Translate Cockpit View Down” option that I can assign a key command to, just left, right, forward, and back. Which option is up and down? EDIT: Nevermind, figured it out. I used comma and period for these and MSFS2020 didn’t like that and made them “Lockable” whatever that means. Changed these to Up and Down arrow and made comma and period forward and backward and all worked fine. By the way, there is a camera.cfg in the Community Folder or wherever you keep those files. Don’t modify that one as it gets written over when the FBW updates. Learned that the hard way.
Hi, thanks for a brilliant tutorial. I have set up my external views and mapped them to my number pad. I have noticed that autopilot does not work now. Is that something I have done wrong?
Great assistance and thanks very much for this! Having the ability to load aircraft without having to close down the sim will probably be a useful tip also. Just to say that you need to have set up at least one customer view before it generates the needed line with the axis to edit in the camera.cfg file - in fact in some aircraft if you don't have a customer view set then no camera.cfg file will be there at all
Hey XP, happy new year. Thanks for the tutorial. Got this sim on day of release but couldnt get used to all the keyboard functions for camera views. It doesnt matter what i change in sensitivity settings, Pedals react exactly the same every time in the sim taking the joy out of the sim. They work perfectly in X-Plane 11. Keep up the good work.
I had a similar problem and fixed it recently. For the rudder controls, the default settings set the rudder up with the pedal and the stick. I went into the settings for the stick and disabled the rudder control so it was only controlled by the pedals. This fixed the glitch. Hopefully this works for you.
Nice views man but once am outside the plane i can not move very far with my d pad x box controller like you do to make that wing view in the cabin at the back window

@@gmarc1390 You can use the mouse to move your eye view and then the arrow keys to move up, down, left and right. Took me a few goes but I got it in the end.
Great video, now is there a way to get it to work on other planes too? Like the other default jets? I dont see a camera.cfg file when checking the same location on other planes with that location
I have a question. After I followed your steps to setup the custom views on the A320, everytime I switch to one of the presets, the plane disconnects the autopilot and starts turning in that direction. If I'm not careful the plane will start turning in circles in the direction of my view. It's not until I get back in the cockpit view that the AP reconnects and continues following the flightplan. Any ideas why or how to fix this?
Where else could i find the camera config file? for me inside the airplane folder is only something called "state" but the file before the planes which is just before you click SimObjects, there is a file there called cameras.cfg , however it doesnt have the line that says "initialxyz" so there is no number to change :(
Doesn't put me outside the cockpit. I've tried everything and even copied all the settings/numbers from your file. Maybe it's because I don't have a numpad? My camera aren't labeled "0" like yours. It's labeled "Pilot"
I have this folder: Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_VL3 In the Airplanes folder, the Asobe_VL3 is the only folder. The cameras.cfg seems to contain info for one camera: [VERSION] major=1 minor=0 [CAMERADEFINITION.0] Title="2" (truncated) I changed the last two lines to: InitialXyz= -5, 0.018, -0.7 InitialPbh= -9.885004, -0.146372, -46.647034 (I added the 5) I'm sure I'm doing something wrong somewhere. Any ideas?
Thanks a lot man, you're awesome! I have one problem though - so it takes me outside the plane and I hold down (right shift and up arrow) to move forward in the direction I'm facing, before then clicking right Ctrl and no. To save Like you say. However, as soon as I let go of shift - the camera flicks back to cockpit and I have to try and get back to where I was with the shift and up to save it... Any ideas?
I change the keys to move around the plane and cockpit to the , . and up and down arrow keys. I don’t upset the shift at all. Reprogram your keys to the way I have them.
Hey @XP72 ! Can we add more combinations of views apart from the basic NUM 1-9? Like Shift+NUM1 and so on? Or are we just limited to those 9 views which we can save and load from settings? Appreciate the video, loved it ; )
Greetings cap, just running into your vid here which I find really helpful and nice, I just have a doubt which I don’t know if you could answer but is worth a shot, I’m flying on a console only and can’t access the sim folders like that, is it going to be an issue to get outside the plane? Grea vid but I'm having trouble moving around once I'm outside. The 4 arrow keys only move me up, down and side to side, how do I move forward?
You have to assign keys to do that.
@@XP72official Yeah I thought so, I assumed I was doing something wrong. Thanks again for your patience making the vid, XP, brilliantly done 🤙
which option do you need to assign to be able to move the camera around
@@gmarc1390 You can use the mouse to move your eye view and then the arrow keys to move up, down, left and right. Took me a few goes but I got it in the end.
Great video, now is there a way to get it to work on other planes too? Like the other default jets? I dont see a camera.cfg file when checking the same location on other planes with that location
I have it working on the 320, 787 and 747. Just have to look for those plane folders.
@@XP72official I have it working now, I had a first set up a custom internal view then the config file showed up
GREAT VIDEO You should do a A landing competition!!
You have the number key also assigned to the autopilot. Delete everything the num keys are assigned to except your views.
Where else could i find the camera config file? for me inside the airplane folder is only something called "state" but the file before the planes which is just before you click SimObjects, there is a file there called cameras.cfg , however it doesnt have the line that says "initialxyz" so there is no number to change :(
If you have Steam it’s gonna be elsewhere.
@@XP72official i bought msfs2020 on the microsoft store, i do have steam in general tho
Good tutorial!!! I somehow cant figure out how to move/navigate. I am just able to zoom and turn. Can someone help me out?
Doesn't put me outside the cockpit. I've tried everything and even copied all the settings/numbers from your file. Maybe it's because I don't have a numpad? My camera aren't labeled "0" like yours. It's labeled "Pilot"
I even imported CptCanadas .cfg file and it still doesn't put me outside.
You might be looking at the wrong configuration file.
@@XP72official I'm not, it's the same exact one as yours.
Hmmmmmm, strange.
@@XP72official Any other ideas? I'm really at a loss. Wanted some nice views.
Great video! My complements to you on your style of delivery and instruction. This one is saved as a favorite. Thanks
Glad it helped you. Thanks.
XP Very informative well done. Now I will have take the time to do this. One question though how do I get different liveries for my aircraft?
Google “mega livery pack” for MSFS
XP by chance in your cockpit view Capt what is the zoom%.
I think 50%
Not working for me, i did not get kickad out of the Windows :(
same
I have this folder: Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_VL3
In the Airplanes folder, the Asobe_VL3 is the only folder. The cameras.cfg seems to contain info for one camera:
[VERSION]
major=1
minor=0
[CAMERADEFINITION.0]
Title="2"
(truncated)
I changed the last two lines to:
InitialXyz= -5, 0.018, -0.7
InitialPbh= -9.885004, -0.146372, -46.647034
(I added the 5)
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong somewhere.
Just what I have been looking to set up, thanks for the tutorial I will set this up tonight 👍
Great Video. Did you rename your default keyboard, or is that a new profile? Thanks.
I deleted it altogether.
Hey @XP72 ! Can we add more combinations of views apart from the basic NUM 1-9? Like Shift+NUM1 and so on? Or are we just limited to those 9 views which we can save and load from settings? Appreciate the video, loved it ; )
Great question. The answer is I really don’t know, but you can try it and let me know. Thanks man.
Greetings cap, just running into your vid here which I find really helpful and nice, I just have a doubt which I don’t know if you could answer but is worth a shot, I’m flying on a console only and can’t access the sim folders like that, is it going to be an issue to get outside the plane? Good night💯
Unfortunately yes
@@XP72official dang it! Lol I thought so, but well I already set up some good quick views inside the cockpit. Do you recommend I try set them up using the outside camera perhaps?
When all is done do you go back and change the camera config file back to the original value?
No, when you set your views it always changes the values anyway.
@@XP72official cool thank you Sir!
I wish there was a way to disable that transition effect when switching between custom cameras. That effect is causing motion sickness on me.
If there is a official msfs update to the programme will it overwrite the camera setings?
It didn’t overwrite mine in the last update. You never know in the future though.
@@XP72official ok thanks
Hello! I don’t have a camera config file in my Asobo A320 Neo folder. What do I do? Thank you.
Double check the steps to get to the right file.
@@XP72official I have located the Asobo A320 Neo folder using the same method as instructed and there is no camera config file there. The only file in there is the state.cfg file. Any suggestions?
Did you setup and save a view in the cockpit first?
@@XP72official Yes, I did. After exiting trying to find the config file, now the sim keeps crashing. And I made sure not to touch anything else accidentally. Perhaps something was corrupted.
That’s strange. Did you buy from Steam.
