    Do you like the cameras in MSFS? I wasn’t a fan at first, but they provide a wide array of options and features that allow for some amazing views. Mapped to a controller they come into a league of their own.

    Always great stuff,,, you must have a staff !
    I have muddled with the COCKPIT/EXTERNAL View option for ever... it just is funky.
    I have noticed one of the General settings needs to be turned on to find your way back - But HOME and END must be pressed to get there, I have to Use HOME END then COCKPIT/External View to get back to pilots seat. And after the latest "MANDATORY" update the folks who run things changed several things... and the entire camera functions are / were wiggy for me for about 2 hours. And I had to make several changes in the General Setup just to get back to my regular flight setup...but buttons were just not working consistently. Not to mention my KB setup for View selection changed !
    Wow this is getting more Bill Gates and Less Flight Simulator. I think we should goto XP12!
    Keep up the good work.

    Go into Options > General > Camera (NOT the in-flight Camera Menu) and make absolutely sure that Height, Horizontal Position, and Zoom are set to 50! These are the global values and if they're not set to default (50), all of your future custom views will not save correctly. This is probably a bug because it's counter intuitive to apply global changes all over again when trying to save a view; but it is what it is.
    2. In Options > Controls, search for the command "VFR Pilot View Save" and assign a key binding. By default, this command is unassigned... I assigned it to Ctrl + Alt + V.
    3. Make a note of your controller assignments for "Reset Cockpit View". Default is Left Ctrl + Spacebar and/or "F" (I also have it assigned to the trigger on my joystick).
    4. Load the aircraft of your choice and use the translation, look, and zoom controls to position the camera exactly where you want it. When you have what you want for a default view, press the "VFR Pilot View Save" binding assigned in step 2 (Ctrl + Alt + V in my case). Now, every time you press the "Reset Cockpit View" button(s), it will go back to this view and will NOT alternate to other intermediate views with subsequent presses... yay!

    Hi Mark. Edited again.
    Had a go at reversing the view up down buttons in external camera view. I was in CONTROLLER - CONTROLLER PROFILE, as, as you say you can’t alter the DEFAULT settings. However altering the External settings had no effect on what they do in Showcase view, there appears to be options to change ‘Eternal’ setting, but not to alter Showcase settings. Any thoughts? Thanks again Noel
    Another very helpful video, and a lot more to digest. Many thanks for your reply to my questions, asked in the previous video, I will try your suggestions later.

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  3 роки тому

      Reverse thrust is available, but not very well modeled.... bind a key to "toggle reverse thrust", then whenever you need to use it put the throttle to idle, press the toggle key, and then increasing the throttle on the controller will apply reverse thrust. If there's a better way to do it I would like to know. In terms of views each aircraft has default external views, and your stuck with these. Cockpit custom views needs to be set up for each aircraft ideally. Regards

    I'm just under 5 minutes in, and amazed to see the views being changed using the mouse, this IS in VR mode correct?
    Ever since I've had msfs 2020, these views using the mouse have not worked for me!
    Even though I've seen the mouse is bound to the camera, it's just never worked. I get 1 external view from just above and behind the plane, from that there is no movement using the mouse, I'm not sure what's wrong with mine but I sure would love to be able to use other views besides the couple I'm locked into.
    From my Alpha Yoke I can "focus" or zoom in on some instruments, lower or raise my seating position in the cockpit, including going up thru the roof to outside. Strange. Back to the drawing board for me! Thanks for posting this video!

    I know this video is 3 years old… I’m just now thinking of switching to MSFS 2020. I’ve been using Microsoft FX since it came out. I built pretty much a full inclosed cockpit with projectors , sim panels and yokes and all that good stuff years ago… with MSFX I love how I can remove the cockpit view entirely to give me that cockpit view from my built cockpit. I would love to invest in this software but It doesn’t seem like this has that option. I have researched this topic but find nothing that suggests it’s possible… That is unless I’m not looking or asking the right questions or people.

    Hi, Mark,
    I use Honeycombs A and B, and following your advice in this video, you recommend a game pad for setting up such things as camera/drone views. To me, they appear to be a hand-held device, and I was looking for something more like an Elgato Stream Deck, desk mounted. Does the game pad have any advantages over this stream deck...apart from cost....?

I'm just trying to set the thing up for cameras....cockpit/drone....for the TBM930, and nothing else, as yet. Mark, do you envisage doing a tutorial on this scenario at a future date? Your tutorials are ALWAYS very well done, you're a good teacher, and each video is accurate, step by step....which is a godsend to enyone in my age bracket. I can only hope.
      Take care

    With my old FSX, I had two monitors set up. The monitor directly in front of me I used for cockpit views. The other monitor to my left at about a 40 degree angle I used for outside views. Can I set up this same configuration with FSX-Steam and MSFS2020. (I'm currently flying FSX-Steam that uses the MSFS2020 GUIs.)

      @@SimHangerFS The FSX I was using for 15 years (but using Windows 10 for only the past year) suddenly died a week ago and won't restart. I was told to upgrade to FSX-Steam, which I did (in an all-night-long download), but then I discovered that all the graphical user interfaces (screens) looked like the GUIs for MSFS2020 and not the vintage GUIs of FSX. I found no documentation for the FSX-Steam I bought, but I found a lot of UA-cam videos that go back to 2015 (all talking about the Steam version) but the GUIs the videos show are that of the vintage FSX. That's when I discovered your videos for MSFS2020--right? Now I'm not even sure of what version of flight sim I have. (The banner says Microsoft Flight Simulator - 1.26.5.0) It appears to me that I have MSFS2020. Is that even possible? Having to fly using only one monitor (after all the years of flying with two) is a GREAT disappointment for me. The old way of doing it (add a new window, undock it, move to the other monitor) was so easy and useful. Any ideas about what's going on?

Now, every time you press the "Reset Cockpit View" button(s), it will go back to this view and will NOT alternate to other intermediate views with subsequent presses... yay!

    Hi, I have a question. With my Logitech Extreme Pro yoke controller, using the hat (swivel) button on the top on my yoke, I can 'swivel' a left, right, up, down, back and front 'EXTERNAL' view of my airplane, in Flight Simulator X and Flight Simulator 2004.
    With FS2020, the swivel button only let's me 'snap' a left, right, front, back, above EXTERNAL view. It does not let me swivel any direction freely. What do I need to do, so I can swivel freely EXTERNALLY? Note-Inside the cockpit the hat (swivel) button let's me swivel freely, no problem there.
    I find myself using FSX more, because it does some things FS2020 does not. Like give you instant replay, so I can examine my final approaches and landings. I've finally mastered 747 and 787 landings and I'd really like to view them in replay. Do you know if that is a feature this FS2020 has?

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  3 роки тому

      To view the aircraft externally as you describe is available in the showcase view mode (drone mode). This view option is simply a more flexible external view, don’t be put off by its name. You can also reconfigure the controls to suit your specific needs. Replay mode is currently in early test phase. Expect it sometime between March and late May. Regards
