You'd think a person who was ineligible to own a firearm because he was a convicted felon would be also ineligible to run for public office.
yeah I've had convicted felons being public figures here. Not at the state or federal level, but at the city level. We don't remove all their civil rights for getting a felony, but felonies here can't vote for awhile so I don't think Trump can vote for himself.
The Constitution doesn't say anything about felons owning firearms or being president. I'm no trump humper but you should read the Constitution.

The background check is to make sure they aren't afraid to commit crimes. The mafia vets their captains, too. It's sometimes easy to forget that he runs a criminal empire, not a political party.
The trump company CFO is a felon. Other felons include his campaign chairman, deputy campaign manager, personal lawyer, chief strategist, National Security Advisor, trade advisor, foreign policy advisor and campaign fixer.
Again, point me to an alternative. Because I can't see one apart from the Greens.

Well, he needs one, though, and VPOTUS has no formal power outside being Senate tiebreaker and being able to declare POTUS unfit together with a majority of the cabinet. Most likely the primary objective of the background checks is to gauge whom to trust to not try to usurp his throne, followed by who has said the least bad things about Trump. That said, I can't see any of the Project 2025 folks join in ousting him, so that point is moot. And regardless, all these VPOTUS candidates are really aiming at a 2028 POTUS candidacy and two full terms, which I can't see them risk through any sort of disobedience, violent or not, at least until Trump inevitably runs for a third term, and they realize he'd never leave.
They do, they just call the their right hand man. Or son. Often both.

So pride isn't something anyone is forcing anyone to celebrate anymore than ppl are forced to celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah or any other observance or awareness period. President Joe Biden did receive five draft deferments, but they were granted because he was a student, first in college and then law school.
Later, Biden underwent a physical exam and received a Selective Service 1-Y classification - which specified that he could be drafted only in a national emergency - because of his asthma.
