Butker's mother, Elizabeth Butker, is a medical physicist at Emory University in Atlanta. She has been at the university since 1988 and works in Emory's Winship Department of Radiation Oncology. Keller spent as much as 35 years as a medical physicist at the prestigious Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Atlanta. She earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1985 and later earned a master's. While blazing a career in physics, Keller raised two children, including Harrison and his older sister Charlotte, who played soccer at Emory. All that completely contradicts Butker's view that women should focus on marriage and raising a family rather than enjoying productive careers like their male counterparts.
Butker never said women should focus on marriage and raising a family rather than enjoying productive careers. Implicit in his question "How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about *all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career?"* is the assumption these women will have careers. There is simply no way to square that with your claim that Butker was saying women should not careers. The pathetic and hateful attempts to use this man's mother to bash him are self-defeating. The mere fact that she is Butker's *mother* completely destroys this argument. Butker literally said *"Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world,* but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world." That could be a statement made directly to his mother. She had a successful career, but I would bet money that if you asked her which was more important to her, family or career, she would say family.

We have the same phenomenon here in Europe: Conservatives mix up "being opposed" wih "being silenced". That's some strange take on freedom of speech, that people should not be allowed to argue against you, right ?
Both sides play on the biggest "fears" on their side. Republicans tell their base that Democrats attack free speech and that they will be cancelled, and as Stewart points out, they only cancel themselves... Meanwhile, Democrats tell their base that everyone needs to be tolerant of others' opinions and lifestyle choices--unless of course those opinions and lifestyle choices are inherently conservative, then they cannot be tolerated.

@@Caro-e3f I thought “doxing” meant revealing the name and maybe address or other personal details of a private individual who wanted to remain anonymous. How does that apply to an entertainer (pro sports player) who’s giving a public speech as themselves? Who was “doxxed”?

Such a treat to have you back, Jon. No one can tell us what we already know to be true of this dismal world yet still let us laugh in the face of it quite like you.
It's not "The World". America is only part of the world.
So glad to have you back Jon. By exposing the madness and the hypocrisy in the way that only you can shows those of us who also see it that we aren't losing our minds, and by helping us to laugh at the insanity around us you have given us a priceless gift. Thank You. Btw, my middle name is Jon. Peace.
You are so spot on! So glad you are back! ❤☮️⚖️
Now THERE’S the Jon Stewart we’ve all been looking for!
I am looking for him in a pine box
I dunno. Jon commenting on FOX News videos was getting stale towards the end of his original run. There is so much more to comment on now than TV shows mostly watched by senior citizens.
@@Toeflresources like pizza?
@@theorenhobart I mean media that young (and young-ish) people actually consume. Getting viewers riled up about the goings-on at FOX News seems like something from a by-gone era. He could basically do the same show but swap out FOX News clips with clips from podcasts hosted by comedians. Even that would be an improvement.
@@Toeflresources Curious I looked it up. In 2013, based on Nielsen statistics, Fox appeared to have a mostly aged demographic. *"In 2024, in the adults aged 25-54 category, Fox leads with 246,000 in primetime and 158,000 in day viewers, followed by MSNBC with 133,000 viewers in primetime and 86,000 viewers in day, and CNN with 124,000 viewers in primetime and 85,000 in day viewers."* - Wikipedia.
Thank you for coming back to the Daily Show!! You are such a gifted comedian! 😊🎉❤
"I"ve been silenced. Watch everyday on my national tv show where I say all the things I can't say everyday at 5pm est."
Technically, they could've been silenced somewhere else. You don't have to be silenced everywhere to be silenced. Most of us have been silenced in a library. :)
And if you WERE on the air elsewhere and being silenced and you're in a new location and no longer silenced, that doesn't negate your previous silencing. See Mehdi Hasan or Sangita Myska.
That argument wasn't very strong. The reality is that there are plenty of forums waiting to shout at someone not towing the progressive line. Hannity and Carlson being loathsome hypocrites doesn't change that
@@geopolitix7770 And? It's the internet, people shouting at each other seems to be its whole point.
Does progressive line mean not being a bigot? Because that should probably be the default.
@NuiYabuko I don't disagree with Jon's point about monetization of outrage on both ends of the political spectrum. That was very well made. I just found the examples to be awfully unbalanced and left leaning. If he wanted to really drive the point home about "why can't we be better people online", a little bit of balance might have made his mostly liberal audience take a few moments to consider their own outrage.
@@geopolitix7770 The problem with that idea is.....what outrage? There's a reason conservatives have to recycle the same examples over and over. Sure, lets stop to complain about a puddle as a tsunami is looming....the amount of that outrage is completely lop-sided.
So very glad youre back in front of the camera!! You are brilliant
The thing about cancel culture people don't get is that you can only be cancelled by your own community. Someone who wasn't invested in you can't take anything from you.
Johnny Depp and Disney?
The singer who had to step down from Mumford and sons?
James Gunn, Disney again?
What's her name from the mandalorian? Disney again.
Tried to get Noah Schapp fired from stranger things for making a pro Israel statement.
Does anyone remember Dixie Chicks?? The way they were hounded by the Right was utterly despicable and should be condemned by everyone who claims to believe in First Amendment.
Remember how the left made them change their name. What about the First Amendment?
Remember how they went after Eminem? Or rappers or foul language in general? Or D&D???! And ignorant right wingers have the nerve to try and co opt these people and say oh you couldn’t make Eminem music now because the left would cancel them! 😂
What an embarrassment the Republican party has become.
Dems
Dems nuts
@@dft1nah false equivalent fallacy
Have you seen the current president?
@@dft1You are jealous because there is no comedian in your cult remotely as intelligent and effective as Jon Stewart.
So glad you're back Jon!! 🐐
I’ve been saying that all this time. Conservatives say the media is bias but liberals make fun of Biden but if a conservative makes fun of Trump they get cancel
Take your blinders off. While you're right about conservatives blowing a gasket if Trump is made fun of, the left does it too. Jon Stewart took A LOT of flack from the left media right after he returned to TDS and made fun of Biden. The even invented yet another political word when they ALL started calling him "both-sidesist."
Total Loyalty. Give The Leader Your Children.
Very few make fun of Biden. But on the left the extremes still think Trump never condemned hate groups which is insane. It's all documented and they still say that. You show them the actual clips in context and they still deny it. it's crazy. I never seen anyone get cancelled over making fun of Trump. He is kinda easy to do that.
Half the time if you say anything negative about Trump, conservatives assume you have a blind allegiance to Biden because you're liberal and then ask you to defend his worst policies, gaffes, or character flaws. I always thought it was a bad case of the 'whataboutisms'. Now I know it's because defending those things are the bare minimum they would do for Trump because they are sheep in his flock.
Lol. I am not even in the US and the left and liberal reputation for cancelling those who disagree with them is renowned beyond your shore
Many thanks to Jon and everyone at THE DAILY SHOW! 🗽
I don't understand what these people think "cancelling" is.
Mild criticism and any disagreement.
Any type of consequences for their actions = cancelled. Or any bs outrage bait story with an "us" vs "them" narrative
They also have no idea what the word woke even means.
I think Señor Inigo Montoya said it best: "You keep using that word - I do not think it means what you think it means"
Don’t expect Trumpers to understand English.
This was brilliant! So glad they brought Jon back! He’s always completely spot on!
For a group that insists they're being silenced, they certainly seem to have a lot to say.
Yeah on that on platform they own outside of the internet😂😂😂
Fragile egos hate hearing opposing voices.
One of the best things Jon has done recently and that is saying something given how high the bar is.
We need so many more Jon Stewarts
We allready got too many Jews telling Americans what they want
Yes this is the type of segment that wins Emmy's
Great video, Jon! I'm so glad you're back!
Jon Stewart is a shining beacon of sanity in our insane world.
For every such "news" he doesn't tell you about the actual 150 problems the US is creating world wide. These are not journalists, these are news readers. 450.000 young Ukranians died over strictly US interests, bio-labs they openly talk about, and weakening Russia, their latest boogeyman. Right after US founded terrorists and US created co*ona, ain't it great?
And speaks truth with humor.
Oh look my comment disappeared. On you tube? No way.
From ALL the actual news, this is what he's going after?! Did you mention those 450.000 dead young Ukranians that died for US interests only ? 36 bio-labs maybe?!?
No - he seems like another monkey throwing his feces
I’m so glad that you are back on the Daily Show John !
Thankful for Jon Stewart ; for keeping many of us sane!!
❤❤❤
None of this means anything if we don't vote
Ok, this was the best Jon Stewart I have viewed. I often wondered why I switched from GOP to DEMs. Nope, I am a decent human now, I know why.

I have said for 40 years that extremism in any form is a bad thing. I stand by that.
So true. I voted Trump in 2016 because the Democrats were moving to the extreme in many things. Then I realized quickly that the extreme cult that built shortly afterwards was even more extreme to the Right.
