Ahh! I love seeing people appreciating the technical prowess of Meat Loaf. Meat Loaf was a master of so many difficult technical elements of his songs, but he never lost himself in them either. He wouldn’t just sing them expertly, he’d sing them in character. He was also captivating live. He’d feed off of the audience while in character while crushing those notes. He was one hell of a performer and is dearly missed.
This song was written by the late, great, Jim Steinman. He was known for writing songs with tender melodies and other sections that were total BOMBAST. When you listen to the songs he wrote you can tell Richard Wagner was a huge influence.
This amazing man created his own genre. It's called Rock Opera. No surprise that you appreciate it. He also played a great role in the movie Fight Club with Brad Pitt. He is truly a national treasure.
HI Aaliyah, what a lovely reaction to this amazing and iconic video by the late, great Meatloaf. I just wanted to add something which is largely unknown, the lady singing with him towards the end is not the supermodel in the video (not sure of her name), but the singers name is Lorraine Crosby. She's from Northern England, and she was at the studio when this was being recorded. She was there that day to record something in her own right, but as Meatloaf's singer failed to turn up, she was asked if she'd take up the offer and thank God, she accepted, because she was, as you say, quite amazing. Greetings from the UK. 🙋♂
The woman seen in the video lip-syncing to Lorraine Crosby's audio is Dana Patrick. There is also what is considered a "follow up" or continuation to this song called "I'd Lie For You (And That's The Truth) where Dana, again, appears in the video, this time lip-syncing to Patti Russo's audio. Then there is another Meat Loaf song/video called "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" where Ellen Foley sings the female part but Karla DeVito appears in the video. And, yes Aaliyah, this video is based on "Beauty And The Beast" as well as "Phantom Of The Opera".
@@generic53 Yes, Karla sang it on tour, and that is Karla seen in the video. But the audio heard in the video is from the album where Ellen sang the part.
Thank you Aaliyah for another excellent reaction! Meatloaf comes from a musical theatre background and he excels at this kind of song! Pretty much all of his great hits were written by the amazing Jim Steinman, who also played the piano on most of the tracks, and knew how to write for his friend. Sadly both passed away in the past two years, but their first LP Bat Out Of Hell, while only seven songs long, is amazing, every track! I would highly recommend "Bat Out Of Hell" and "For Crying Out Loud", though each track is worthy of a reaction. Finally, I was lucky enough to see him live in 1978 doing the Bat Out Of Hell tour, and while I have seen more concerts and performances than I can count that one still remains one of the best shows I have ever seen! Continued success to you on your channel, your studies, your music and all you do for us!!
This song was number one through all the 90s!👌😂👍👉❤️Rip🙏Meatloaf😢 the singing and the theatrical production was second to none!! Beautifully done!✅🙏❤️He was pure talent!
I became a huge fan of Mr. Loaf ever since I was six years old, his music was a big part of my childhood. Hid death last year deeply saddened me but his memory and music will live on forever. ❤
Meatloaf was an amazing singer and loved performing as much as singing, he blew this song out of the water and I remember seeing it on MTV when it first came out, the VJ was absolutely speechless and screamed "Meatloaf is back on the menu folks!"
No one can deliver a torrent of emotions like ML and writer Jim Steinman. The tempo shifts and MLs ability to convey emotion with his voice and performance … just unparalleled IMHO.
Thank you Aaliyah for reacting to Meat Loaf! To us who grew up with his mucic he and Jim Steinman stand like the Argonath at the entrance to the world of prog rock and rock opera. He really put his passion and soul into every song and performance.
The legendary songwriter, Jim Steinman, called his work with Meat Loaf "Wagnerian Rock". He wrote many of Meat's biggest hits and also hits for Air Supply, Bonnie Tyler, Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion and Barry Mannilow...
Michael Lee Aday (born Marvin Lee Aday; September 27, 1947 - January 20, 2022), known professionally as Meat Loaf, was an American rock singer and actor known for his powerful, wide-ranging voice and theatrical live shows. He is on the list of bestselling music artists. His Bat Out of Hell trilogy-Bat Out of Hell (1977), Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell (1993), and Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose (2006)-has sold more than 100 million records worldwide.[1] The first album stayed on the charts for over nine years, as of 2016 still sold an estimated 200,000 copies annually, and is on the list of bestselling
Yayy a Meat Loaf song. What a great musician. RIP Meat Loaf!! Again another fantastic viddie my Music Loving Sis, Thank You (My Cat Lucy is on my lap watching with me like always lol). 💖💝
Meatloaf occupied a niche in music - in fact he led in it - called "Rock Opera". You'll find movies like Rocky Horror Picture Show, Tommy, Little Shop of Horrors, and songs like Bohemian Rhapsody in this genre of musical storytelling. Meatloaf was at the very top of this genre.
He hardly led it in, Bohemian Rhapsody and the RHP Show all predate his work by two years, Tommy by the Who even by 8 years. That said he was an iconic rock singer.
Meat Loaf's debut album "Bat Out of Hell" was brilliant in its entirety. He also had about four other great songs before he lost his voice, in which, this is one of his last hits. He sang one song, "Hot Patootie", in The Rocky Horror Picture Show film and became a instant legend. That resulted in getting his first record deal. He had at least two number one hits, "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" and "Paradise by the Dashboard Light". He created the genre of theatrical pop rock. Watch his early live performance and you will notice he clutches a red cloth to calm his nerves on stage. He gave so much of himself during live shows that he needed an oxygen tank backstage. Like a true entertainer, he never complained and gave his best playing in both large and small venues. R.I.P. Meat Loaf.
Firstly, I just loved the emotions playing over your face as you lived yourself into this iconic song. Secondly, this was one of your best and most insightful reactions, thank you. thirdly, I think this song should Rank with Bohemian Rhapsody as the have similar changes and styles and both were written by geniuses and performed by legends.
Than you for reacting to Meat Loaf, he was one of my favorite singers when I was a teen growing up in the 70s. I would love it if you did my favorite Meat Loaf song, "Objects in the rear view mirror."
I had the privilege of attending two Meat Loaf concerts in England, the first of which was the Bat Out Of Hell II tour where I was three rows from the front, right in the middle. He was absolutely astounding and I've never forgotten it. Meat Loaf and Freddie Mercury of Queen are my absolute favourite singers, able to express emotions like no one else - and of course Jim Steinman who could write rock opera like a god. Rest in peace all three of them. We've lost so much.
Such a Masterpiece....I cant even imagine just how much money it cost for that video to be made back then....it had to be a crazy amount.....but it was worth every penny
I heard this song on the radio maybe 2 weeks after it was released and bought the album the next day. Sometimes once is all you need. Great reaction, I am happy that you enjoyed this masterpiece. 😄
I still remember hearing this song when it FIRST came out on the radio as a very new release and I loved it the very first time ...now 30 years later...this song brings so many memories back with how me and my late wife started our lives together in a new city back in 1993......I am now alone in this empty house away from all friends, loved ones and family...but hey...I had them all at that one special moment in time and I will never forget
I have a feeling you're going to love this. He's almost Musical Theater genre but made it popular. I'll just shut up and watch since I love your content.
The actress in the video is miming to the voice of Lorraine Crosby a singer from my home town of Newcastle, England. Lorraine received no acknowledgement or royalties from this song. Lorraine continues to perform locally with her band across the UK and I believe on cruise ships.
If you like this kind of Bombast Rock (Jim Steinman's signature productions) then you need to check out Bonnie Tyler's songs "Total Eclipse of the Heart" (1983) or "Holding out for a Hero" (1984) If "Holding out for a Hero" doesn't get your blood pumping then you should seek medical attention. Also, Bonnie Tyler had a very unusual female voice which should pique your interest. Edit: Total Eclipse is a slow romantic song, Holding out is an afterburner! 😉 Edit 2: Loved your jawdrop reaction when the lady started singing!
I'll 2nd a vote for Bonnie Tyler. I just wish the video for Total Eclipse Of The Heart wasn't such a distraction for first time reactors to the song. I think Steinman did Air Supply's song, "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All". That has some great vocals and an epic quality to it as well.
I was in the army when this album came out. It was 30 years ago. Man, time flies. I still love this song. Your reaction really hit the nail. You should also listen Virgin Steele's song Veni, vidi, vici. It's in same way as this song.
Great reaction young lady! Just subscribed. Meatloaf was super talented, he is a genre all to himself! Rick opera is the closest definition. Check out his “Paradise by the dashboard lights” and “Two outa three ain’t bad”. ALWAYS watch Meatloaf live while he was in his prime, he puts on quite a show!
Girl, welcome to how opera is done. Any of Meatloaf’s songs are incredible in the full, orchestral complexity they show, testament to the writing of Jim Stienman. Have you looked at Sound of Silence by Disturbed yet?
Meat Loaf (born Marvin Aday, later Michael Aday) got called 'Meat' in school because of his oversized frame... He loved theater, but came from a difficult home... After his mom died when he was 19, he left his abusive dad and moved to L.A. and worked as a theater performer in the early 70's and looked for gigs as a singer... He was cast in the musical movie 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' in 1973. He met songwriter/ musician Jim Steinman around that time and the 2 began working on a record since 1972 without any interest from the music industry. Persistence paid off for Meat Loaf & Jim Steinman who were signed in 1977 and released the album 'Bat out of Hell'... a mix of rock, opera and musical theater. It would go on to sell 43 million copies worldwide (15 million in the US) and became an international hit ... Meat Loaf would tour into 1979, but vocal problems ended up delaying another album w/ Jim Steinman writing the songs. Meat Loaf finally released a new album 'Dead ringer' in 1981, but the public had lost interest and the album sold poorly in the US, but still did well internationally... Lawsuits w/ his record label and a split w/ Steinman in the 80's put Meat Loaf in obscurity in the US for a decade. He did still release albums in Europe & other areas. The reunion w/ Jim Steinman came in the early 90's and Meat Loaf released the long-awaited sequel album 'Bat out of Hell II: Back into Hell' in 1993... it charted at #1 and sold 15 million copies worldwide, securing a major comeback for Meat Loaf... Subsequent albums by Meat Loaf did not sell as well; Meat Loaf's political views also hampered his popularity... Jim Steinman did not work on the 3rd 'Bat out of Hell III: The Monster is loose' album in 2006... Meat Loaf did record a live version of 'Bat out of Hell' w/ the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. By that point, both Meat Loaf & Jim Steinman were in poor health... Meat Loaf's vocals were not as potent anymore. The 2 worked on what would be the last Meat Loaf album 'Braver than we are' in 2016... Jim Steinman died in 2021. Meat Loaf was unable to tour any more due to failing health and died in early 2022. To check out more Meat Loaf classics - "You took the words right out of my mouth' ... 'Rock n roll dreams come through'... 'Not a dry eye in the house' ... 'Dead ringer for love' ... 'Life is a lemon and I want my money back' ... 'Midnight at the lost & found'... 🔥🔥
@@AaliyahCapili Lorraine Crosby is a British singer who was at the studio to record her own material, Meatloafs' female singer didn't show up so Lorraine stepped into the breach/ They disn't use her in the video because she didn't look like a supermodel. She usually records under the name "Mrs Loud", and shes' done several duets with another great British singer you've had recommendations for, Bonnie Tyler.
@user-neo71665 No. Bat out of hell 2 was recorded in the USA. They also replaced Patti Russo with Dana Patrick in the I'd lie for you and that's the truth video.
I'm reading the comments and while there are some comments about Jim Steinman (writer of the song), I wanted to give a little more background on him. He wrote almost all of Meatloaf's songs. It is absolute divine intervention that the two of them connected. Jim wrote the most amazing, epic songs and Meatloaf's unique and theatrical voice matched perfectly. To let you know how amazing a writer Jim was (out side of meatloaf) there was a time in 1983 where Jim had written both the Number 1 and number 2 songs in the country. Total Eclipse of the Heart (Bonnie Tyler) and Making Love Out of Nothing at All (Air Supply). He wrote for Celine Dion, Air Supply, Binnie Tyler, Barry Manilow, Bette Midler, and more. Jim was an amazing writer and musician, but Jim and Meatloaf were truly a match made in heaven!!!!
2 month late but here I am now watching you react to my absolute favorite song and music video and you nailed it! You did honour to this song with your reaction...very well done...10 of 10 stars!
The day we lost Meat, millions of lost souls cried out into the night. We was all praying for it not to be so. He gave us all a home and he gave us his heart. I still cry to this day at his passing, I try so hard not to, but he has such an impact on his fans. His last curtain has come down, but his encore will be immortal. I am so glad you discovered him. The 'model' is Dana Patrick and she actually lip syncing. The singer called Lorraine Crosby, she happened to be in the right place at the right time after the original artist failed to show up at the recording. Lorraine did not make a single penny from her performance.
While Jim Steinman did the final draft, as he also added in the female vocalist part(FYI, the woman in the video, is NOT whom you hear, as according to the casting department said, that she was havin a screeching type voice, so they dubbed in I believe it was some woman with last name of Crosby's voice, and he has had other's do the woman's part on tour's, including Cher, over his touring year's), the first draft of lyric's, were written by Meatloaf, about his own experience's of turmoil, in his marriage life, with his wife, until she believed him. And, Jim Steinman also had written the instrumental part to the song, as well. And, during an interview, he was asked what it was, that he would never do, he said, that was between him and his wife, even though, IF you pay attention to the beginning lyric's, it's literally snuch in, exactly what it is, that he would never do. He hide's it so well, it was a huge mystery to veryone, but him, his wife, & Jim Steinman, until about 15-20yrs ago. So, if you didn't catch it, it begin's with never lying to her, then it goes through a series of negative thing's, that would hurt her, that he would never do, such as, he would never leave her, never harm her, never cheat on her, and so many other innuendo's, that he slip's in, to confuse everyone, what "it" is. And, during that same interview, he mentioned how he wanted the video a rendition of the old "Beauty & The Beast" themed video, where he started out as the beast, and then evolved into the man at the end of the video. So, to narrow down, what "it" is? The "it" is, he would never fake his love for her, with lie's, deceit, and corruption, as he say's, what he mean's, nothing more, nothing less. Along with my own father, Meatloaf's song here, was 1 of my biggest inspiration's in my own love life, as I was growing up, as I loved the video(Cause, I always saw myself as "the beast", when I was younger), and the lyric's to the song, that I went and bought the audio tape, and then as soon as it came out, the CD, of this album(Bat Out Of Hell II)...RIP Matloaf
RIP to the great meatloaf, a true stage troubadour! Also a good actor, I think I last saw him in fight club. His album, bat out of hell, has never been out of the top 200 for over 40 years! Then his 2 follow up albums, back in to hell, then out, the beast is loose! Have proly sold over 200 mil copies! He got famous from the movie, Rocky Horror, u should watch! When casting the movie, the producers directors brought in all the top singers, no one could handle all the high notes with power and breath control. By chance, he wanders into the audition. They tell him the problems they are having. He listens to the main song a couple times, then tells the director, hit the lights hit the playback, ACTION! Then belts out the song perfectly! Looks at the director and says, so what's the problem? The baseball announcer is Vin Scully. He listened to the blank space outro space, twice. Then addlibbed his part twice, nailed it on the next attempt! His song on the next album, I'll never do that, a classic! But really listen to this whole album, it's all about one guy's life, from teens to middle aged! Oddly enough meatloaf always said, he wasn't a singer, that he was a stage actor who sometimes could sing a part for the character perfectly!!!
First off great reaction! You’re a natural at this :) It is very romantic and I have a weird relationship with this song and I will tell you a story if you all will indulge me. I grew up poor and rough in the states, my wife grew up in Manila. Her parents made solid money so she didn’t struggle financially though she did in other ways. She came to the states at 16 for college while I got my diploma via homeschooling at 16 (Left public school cuz of violence, being white in a place where few others are white leads to racism towards you) that’s how we ended up together. I struggled with undiagnosed ptsd/depression and chronic physical pain from all the violence and some other things that are a bit too personal to share here. My wife was sheltered and not so good at handling an angry, brooding and hurt young man. Fast forward a handful of years Our relationship that started as teenagers had become toxic while we lived together due to poor communication, insecurity, cultural differences and my trauma. One day about 15 years ago while on the phone talking with my mom I heard this song in the background. I asked her for the video and she sent it to me and I checked it out. I’m not sure why but meatloaf’s character in the video and his voice hit me in a really deep way. I came to the realization that I was a good guy with a monster on his back and I needed help. Our relationship was doomed if it continued like this and I didn’t want to be angry my whole life. So I started getting therapy and really taking care of these problems. My wife on seeing this, started to do the same. It was a hard road but we ended up in a place of mutual love, appreciation and respect. It reignited our love for each other which continues to this day. I’m a 39 year old man now and it scares when I think about “What if I never heard this song in the background?” Anyways, if anyone read this crazy wall thank you lol it’s a long one. I want to end with romance is worth it no matter your age or the pain you may get in the future because of love. It’s a hell of a rollercoaster and you will grow because of it no matter the outcome. You younguns out there: Don’t wait too long to tell *that* person you like them. We live once so roll the dice :)
@@AaliyahCapili Thank you for reading the wall Aaliyah :) Btw, have you thought of going into different music genres with your vocal skill/talent? I just watched a video of Elizabeth (opera singer) from her channel Charismatic Voice and Nik Nocturnal create a Nightwish song together and it is actually really good. Immediately I thought of you and your potential to do the same. Ever thought about it?
Some nice observations for a first viewing. There's a lot in the song (and more in the video) that's up for interpretation but I've always thought like you that something happened with her and is has to do with his curse. It gives you a chance to think about the story as even more than just a Beauty & The Beast clone. I've been a fan of Meatloaf since the early 80s and have always appreciated his passion and skill. It's awesome to watch a new generation of people (especially artists) discovering him. If you haven't tried them yet, my two favorite people to see in these reaction videos is Morrisette Amon (a Filipina singer with at least 1/2 billion views, and IMHO the best pop singer in the world) and Dan Vasc who is a Brazilian metal singer that enjoys doing unusual cover songs in a metal way (especially Disney cartoons and female song). Both are astonishingly good if you're looking for new people to listen to and a way to increase the fan base.
A classic song he pit out visually and vocally. The song came out as a shock to all of out their in the public. We were not ready for this strong song in all categories of music, yes I think he hit everything that is expected in this song. Dave in Sierra Vista AZ
This song hit number 1 in an amazing 29 countries! You have an incredible voice ! You will have a great career! I definitely get your music! I grew up with Meat Loaf! Listen to his other songs such poet! RIP Meat!
I see you aired this seven months ago and I'm not sure if you will come back around and see this comment, but I wanted to add something to the discussion - Meat Loaf was the leader in the genre called "Rock Opera" which matches extravagant musical production with extravagant visual storylines. Rock Opera was the style used for the production of "Rocky Horror Picture Show", "Little Shop of Horrors", "Tommy - A Rock Opera", and a few others. It is a specific entertainment genre and Meat Loaf helped bring it into the mainstream. The integration of the musical and visual productions is the intent of the genre - meaning (in my mind) that you can listen to the soundtrack for this song, maybe on a radio or iHeart or something, but without the visual half, you lose most of the entertainment experience - without the visual, you have a nice song that was, in most cases, too long to play on the radio when it originally came out.
I always love your reactions! An often overlooked song of his is a duet with Cher called "Dead Ringer", its worth a listen., and the video is worth a watrch if you can find it. Please keep entertaining us👍
This video (and the other videos from the album) were directed by Michael Bay (Transformers/Armageddon/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) back when he was known for doing TV Adverts. (So really unknown, who knows people who directs tv commercials?) - So arguably these videos helped make him what he is today.
Jim Steinman who wrote all the songs on Meat Loafs Bat Out Of Hell I, II, and III albums also wrote Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse Of The Heart. Fun fact about that one is that it was initially written for a vampire musical he was working on so it's about a vampire in love 😊
7 mins of PURE...hell or fun! Depending on if I was acting or calling the show! We used this as a song for a stage magic performance, I've been both on stage, AND calling the show for it. Everytime I hear it, I'll sing AND call Go's at the same time! It's ingrained in me now! "I know you can (Standby LX 3)save me, no-one else can save me now but you (3-GO!)." Beauty and the Beast is EXACTLY what we went for in the show! Dying roses, lovers 'leaving'...just...a dang fun song to play to! (Also, he grew up in Port Dover!) Certain shows, we even played 'him' as the phantom of the opera, since it REALLY fits... Never got to play on stage on those shows because, well, I was ALSO the only one licenced to play with the dry ice we used...
Yeah, this song is very much about feelings of grief, loss, longing, and guilt. Something terrible happened to his love, and he’s consumed by his emotions, which leave him isolated and feeling like a monster. It takes her (or the memory of her) to force him to confront his feelings, get closure, and begin the painful process of healing.
Your reaction is just as cute and sweet as always. Thank you for picking this timeless Ballade! Meat Loaf was one of the greatest and colourful Singers back in the 70s-90s and the music-world is much more Gray and boring without him. I saw him live in the 90s and his performing on stage is as impressive as his music Videos! Bat out of Hell 2 is in my opinion one of the greatest Albums of all Time!!!! Please react to the Music Video of the Song: "Objects In The Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are"!!!! The song is telling about his own Life and so beautiful and sad at the same Time!!!! By the Way the Director of those MV's is Michael Bay which became later a great Hollywood Director! ;-)
It was fun watching you end up moved by the song. But I'm not surprised you'd get into it. Meatloaf songs are always one part operatic, one part classic 50's piano rock, one part an off-Broadway play and all metal. you hould react to more of his stuff if you get the chance, especially his version of "It's all coming back to me" with Marion Raven and Paradise by the Dashboard Light. Both of which are duets, although both have very different moods and tunes.
The Girl's voice was a perfect counterpart to Meatloaf's. The full version of this song has six verses by her, this video cuts it to four, I have no idea why and I wish they'd left all six in.
If any song you need to listen and enjoy is the song titled Objects in the rear view mirror are closer then they appear! This songs illustrates the life of Meatloaf and Jim Steinman great talent of song writing!
Well - there were/are singers which are to vain and/or afraid to get strong female duet partners or dont even made duets. Meat Loaf is the opposite - he mostly had really good and strong female partners when he made duets. This song is a really nice example for this, his studio partner was Lorraine Crosby, later he sung it live with Patti Russo but his most famous duet for sure is "Paradise by the dashboard light" with Ellen Foley in the original. He also made a Duett even with Cher and I remember his live partner at the mid 80s tour Doreen Chanter - a voice of its own. Maybe you should do his duet with her at "All Revved Up With No Place To Go" and get blown away by her- a lousy picture quality but sound is good enough on the vid ---> ua-cam.com/video/TwVq-ADbVeo/v-deo.html
Not sure if anyone already mentioned it, but the woman in the video is not the singer but a model and actress that did an outstanding job at lip-syncing. I highly suggest you do "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" where the singer is Carla DiVito, but the singing voice is Ellen Foley. It's a GREAT song also.
Every Meatloaf song is like a theatrical production. Killer vocals and killer piano. A well written masterpiece! 👍👍❤️🔥

Thank you Aaliyah for reacting to Meat Loaf! To us who grew up with his mucic he and Jim Steinman stand like the Argonath at the entrance to the world of prog rock and rock opera. He really put his passion and soul into every song and performance.
Thanks for sharing
The legendary songwriter, Jim Steinman, called his work with Meat Loaf "Wagnerian Rock". He wrote many of Meat's biggest hits and also hits for Air Supply, Bonnie Tyler, Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion and Barry Mannilow...

Meatloaf was such an amazing man, may he R.I.P. forever. Gone but NEVER forgotten.

Oh thank you very very much for watching, hello to your cat Lucy too😍😍😍
Meatloaf is such a joy to listen to, and watch. He truly lives the lyrics and brings so much emotion to his performances.
🥰
Try not to be jealous that this artistry was released in my high school years. Thank you for keeping this beautiful song alive.
Thanks for sharing this😍
He had a small part in RHP Show.
R.I.P. Meat Loaf.
Thank you very much for sharing
Firstly, I just loved the emotions playing over your face as you lived yourself into this iconic song. Secondly, this was one of your best and most insightful reactions, thank you. thirdly, I think this song should Rank with Bohemian Rhapsody as the have similar changes and styles and both were written by geniuses and performed by legends.
Thanks so much for sharing💕

For sure!!!!!!!!!
Than you for reacting to Meat Loaf, he was one of my favorite singers when I was a teen growing up in the 70s. I would love it if you did my favorite Meat Loaf song, "Objects in the rear view mirror."
Thanks so much for sharing
I had the privilege of attending two Meat Loaf concerts in England, the first of which was the Bat Out Of Hell II tour where I was three rows from the front, right in the middle. He was absolutely astounding and I've never forgotten it. Meat Loaf and Freddie Mercury of Queen are my absolute favourite singers, able to express emotions like no one else - and of course Jim Steinman who could write rock opera like a god. Rest in peace all three of them. We've lost so much.

M an M Mercury and Meatlof amazing
This is one of my all time favorite songs. I used to sing it all the time when i was a kid

Such a Masterpiece....I cant even imagine just how much money it cost for that video to be made back then....it had to be a crazy amount.....but it was worth every penny
It is so amazing🥰
I heard this song on the radio maybe 2 weeks after it was released and bought the album the next day. Sometimes once is all you need. Great reaction, I am happy that you enjoyed this masterpiece. 😄
Thanks for listening and sharing too🥰
I still remember hearing this song when it FIRST came out on the radio as a very new release and I loved it the very first time ...now 30 years later...this song brings so many memories back with how me and my late wife started our lives together in a new city back in 1993......I am now alone in this empty house away from all friends, loved ones and family...but hey...I had them all at that one special moment in time and I will never forget
Thanks so much for sharing this, wishing you a nice day always💕
I have a feeling you're going to love this. He's almost Musical Theater genre but made it popular. I'll just shut up and watch since I love your content.
Oh super thank you for watching💕
The actress in the video is miming to the voice of Lorraine Crosby a singer from my home town of Newcastle, England. Lorraine received no acknowledgement or royalties from this song. Lorraine continues to perform locally with her band across the UK and I believe on cruise ships.

If you like this kind of Bombast Rock (Jim Steinman's signature productions) then you need to check out Bonnie Tyler's songs "Total Eclipse of the Heart" (1983) or "Holding out for a Hero" (1984)
If "Holding out for a Hero" doesn't get your blood pumping then you should seek medical attention.
Also, Bonnie Tyler had a very unusual female voice which should pique your interest.
Edit: Total Eclipse is a slow romantic song, Holding out is an afterburner! 😉
Edit 2: Loved your jawdrop reaction when the lady started singing!
Thanks so much for all of the recommendations🌺🌺🌺
Yup. "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" was another masterpiece from Steinman.@@RealDiehl99

Thanks super much🥰🥰🥰
Please do "For Crying Out Loud" this is one of the best of Meat Loaf. Thank you for your videos!

Girl, welcome to how opera is done.
Any of Meatloaf’s songs are incredible in the full, orchestral complexity they show, testament to the writing of Jim Stienman.
Have you looked at Sound of Silence by Disturbed yet?

Paradise by the Dashboard lights is another great song by Meat Loaf.
Thanks for the recommendation
just one of the Meatloaf & Jim Steinman ( composer ) long list of beautiful songs full of meaning and sang with so much feeling .
🥰
Thank you very much for taking the time to share all of this🌺🌺🌺

The singer for the female part is Lorraine Crosby, and the lady in the video is a model lip syncing. Meat Loaf is amazing RIP

When he recorded this song he was living in our mother country. When he did the video it was over here in the US and she couldn't be here for it.
@user-neo71665 No. Bat out of hell 2 was recorded in the USA. They also replaced Patti Russo with Dana Patrick in the I'd lie for you and that's the truth video.

@@AaliyahCapili it a very sad song his search for love was incredible and reamin in love and he wont do anything bad he wont dothat

One of the greatest artists i have ever seen. 👍
🥰🥰🥰
Not mention this Sind was his first 1 hit in over 20yrs at the time considered the greatest comeback in rock history

I’m a 39 year old man now and it scares when I think about “What if I never heard this song in the background?”
Anyways, if anyone read this crazy wall thank you lol it’s a long one. I want to end with romance is worth it no matter your age or the pain you may get in the future because of love. It’s a hell of a rollercoaster and you will grow because of it no matter the outcome. You younguns out there: Don’t wait too long to tell *that* person you like them. We live once so roll the dice :)
Thank you very much for sharing your story with us, it is very inspiring. All the best to you and your family. Have a wonderful day always🥰
Thanks so much for sharing and for your recommendations🥰🥰🥰
Yes the Beauty and the Beast is the sory line with a rick and roll bent. Rock Opera actually. Freddy Mercury & Queen, Night at the Opera.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this, much appeciated💕
I always love your reactions! An often overlooked song of his is a duet with Cher called "Dead Ringer", its worth a listen., and the video is worth a watrch if you can find it. Please keep entertaining us👍

Great - you’d love Paradise by the Dashboard Light (also with a duet).

"I know you can (Standby LX 3)save me, no-one else can save me now but you (3-GO!)."
Beauty and the Beast is EXACTLY what we went for in the show! Dying roses, lovers 'leaving'...just...a dang fun song to play to! (Also, he grew up in Port Dover!)
Certain shows, we even played 'him' as the phantom of the opera, since it REALLY fits... Never got to play on stage on those shows because, well, I was ALSO the only one licenced to play with the dry ice we used...
Thank you very much for sharing all of these🥰🥰🥰
Yeah, this song is very much about feelings of grief, loss, longing, and guilt. Something terrible happened to his love, and he’s consumed by his emotions, which leave him isolated and feeling like a monster. It takes her (or the memory of her) to force him to confront his feelings, get closure, and begin the painful process of healing.
Many thanks for sharing what the song is about🌺

Thanks so much for sharing. He is amazing
The Girl's voice was a perfect counterpart to Meatloaf's. The full version of this song has six verses by her, this video cuts it to four, I have no idea why and I wish they'd left all six in.
