It's lovely to see someone discovering Meatloaf (the male singer) for the first time. He died in January 2022, just a year ago. His album "Bat Out of Hell" is one of the best-selling ever. And yes, he's known for really expressive performances.
Meatloaf is the lead singer. His real name is Michael Lee Aday. He was a stage actor (Rocky Horror Picture Show & Fight Club) who with his fellow theater "geeks" created a touring theater based band. Which is why his music is so dramatic. The pianist Jim Stenman wrote the music as a theater performance as well. Paradise by the Dash Board lights and Two out of Three ain't bad are his two biggest songs. Steinman also wrote Bonny Taylor's "Total Eclipse of the Sun"(which was from a stage show he was writing about Vampires. In an interview Steinman said what he won't do is different for each person. We all have different lines we won't cross.
I think one of my favorite Meat Loaf stories is: at one time Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman were suing each other, neither was allowed to talk to the other. One day, Meat Loaf called up Jim, they chatted, they started working on Bat out of Hell 2. They didn’t care that they were not allowed to talk to each other. It was actually their representatives that were suing each other, and they just ignored them because they were friends and held no animosity towards each other. And that led to a new album. I just find that kind of epic.
Meatloaf was simply one of the nicest guys around. Incredibly talented, but the thing that stood out about him for me was that he was just a really good guy.
Brittnai always has the most (if not the only) genuine reactions. I love watching her enjoying being confused and surprised. Doesn't just validate, she also explains. She's super smart and fun. I wish your channel growth and success Britt!
I'm absolutely amazed at how many people have never heard the absolute best music of the 80's and early 90's! I'm from 85 and dare to say heard most of the popular music from the decades before me. Happy you are enjoying this though! So much to discover for you
I cried when he passed. His video for this is amazing. All of his official videos are fire. If you like interviews he did The Big Interview with Dan Rather a few months before he died.
What he won't do is a verse before. Ex. I will never stop dreaming of you ever night of my life. So he will never stop dreaming of her. Meatloaf is him, a nickname from when he was younger because of size. Jim Steinman is the writer of the majority of his songs. Sadly we have lost both of them. If you have ever watched Rocky Horror Picture Show he is Eddie that comes out of the freezer on a motorcycle.
The origin of his nickname is a bit of a mystery. I've seen Meatloaf tell 3 completely different stories about it in interviews. It seems he had a different story everytime he was asked......he is a story teller after all
@@dvsreed I'm not saying this just because you did it, but he did say the one thing that bothers him the most is when people write it as one word instead of Meat Loaf
The girls name is Patty Russo. Patty sang on all of Meatloafs albums and most of his specials and shows from 1995 until "Meat" put down the microphone. She did have limited success as a solo artist but she just couldn't find that "break out song" that would catapult her to stardom. I agree, she has a very solid bad ass voice! By the way, Meatloaf got his name from his father when he was young. Michael was always a large presence in a crowd and not the sharpest tool in the shed. (I say that with love!). His dad started calling him "MEAT", maybe due to Archie Bunker and All In The Families Rob Ryners character, "Meathead". Anyway, at some point the name got stretched out to "Meatloaf". New artists are always searching for an unusual name that will stand out to the public and Mike chose to embrace "Meatloaf" for his stage name. THANKS DAD!
The information that I have is that the female singer on the Bat Out Of Hell album is Ellen Foley. According to the DVD documentary about this album it was claimed that Ellen Foley could not tour and Patty Russo was chosen to tour in her place and perform her role. On the DVD video of Bat Out Of Hell and which appears on youtube Patty Russo is in fact miming to Foley's vocals. The DVD documentary previously mentioned indicates that Foley was 'put out' because as she was not seen in the videos she did not get the appropriate recognition for her vocals. I have the original Record of the Bat Out Of Hell album which I purchased in 1978 and also the CD. Patty Russo is not mentioned at all in the credits whereas Ellen Foley is credited as the background female vocalist. I had no idea what Ellen Foley looked like until I saw the DVD documentary as on the cover of the Record and CD of Bat Out Of Hell only her back is shown whilst she is the arms of Jim Steinman. I mention all this to give credit to Ellen Foley because I believe her vocals on the Bat Out Of Hell album are outstanding. Regards.
@@mikefairsea5898 Elaine couldn't tour with Meatloaf because she got a co-starring role in a TV series, "Night Court". You are correct that Elaine sang on the "Bat Out Of Hell" Lp but she chose acting over singing. Patty sang on Meatloafs albums from 1995 on. That doesn't mean that she was always the principal female lead, but I think that she was.
@@mikefairsea5898 The girl that actually did go on tour with Meatloaf for the "Bat Out Of Hell" tour was Karla something, I can't remember her last name, but it is Karla and not Patty that is lip synching to Elaines vocals from the album. Again, Patty didn't join Meatloaf until 1995.
@@boosuedon Thanks. It's been about twenty or so years ago that I bought the DVD documentary I mentioned and about that long since I viewed it. All I know is that virtually everyone that comments on the Bat Out Of Hell album videos praise the vocals of the female artist and many claim it is Patty Russo. Without viewing the documentary again I assumed it was her in the videos but you mentioning the name 'Karla' does ring a bell. I shall have to watch it again to make sure. The album was so out there that many leading recording labels wouldn't touch it. From memory Todd Rundgren eventually financed and produced it. Todd Rundgren is the guitarist and as there had been quite a few car crash songs in previous years Steinman wanted to write the ultimate motor bike crash song. He mentioned that he wanted the sound of a motor bike in the song and Todd Rundgren proceeded to play the sound of a motor cycle on his guitar which is amazing. Anyway, this old Aussie man introduced his 74 year old mother in 1978 to the album and she loved it. He introduced his nephews and nieces to it also and two of them became life long Meat Loaf fans attending a number of his shows when he toured Australia. I was at one of his shows in the mid 1980's when Meat Loaf fell off the stage and broke his leg. It was his 'Bad Attitude' tour. As I mentioned before I think it is sad that Ellen Foley doesn't get any credit nowadays for her contribution. Regards.
@@mikefairsea5898 Thank you sir, and I have to confess that I had to go back and Google Karlas' name. It is Karla DaVito who did the "Bat Out Of Hell" tour with Meatloaf and it was also Karla lip syncing on the "Paradise by The Dashboard Lights" video. Patti Russo got screwed too as she was the female singer on Meatloafs ONLY Grammy win song, "I Would Do Anything For Love". They didn't think that Patti was pretty enough to be in the MTV video so they hired some Goddess model to be in the video, lip syncing to Patti Russo. I was really disappointed that Meatloaf didn't stand up for Patti and demand that she do the video! I think the girl is pretty damn cute! I've got to say that the video is very good, playing on the "Beauty and the Beast" theme. But that was Pattis' voice! The model actually was approached by record companies for a singing contract! She had to decline. That had to make Patti smile!
Michael Lee Aday, known professionally as Meat Loaf, was an American rock singer and actor with a powerful, wide-ranging voice, famous for his theatrical live shows. He is on the list of best-selling music artists. Died January of 2022 RIP
Meatloaf is the singer, he exudes emotion. The official video is awesome!! His music takes you on a rollercoaster of tempo and lyrical genius. Great call, because the official video is based on Beauty and the Beast. His concerts and videos are like that, you feel like you been to a movie. Welcome to the world of one of the greatest Rock Opera performers of all time. Next "Paradise by the Dashboard Light", "Two out of Three Ain't Bad", "You Took the Words Right out of my Mouth", "Bat out of Hell", "Objects in the Rear View Mirror" all are FANTASTIC!!! Great reaction to one of our recent losses to the music world.
New to your page but loving it! Forgot how great Meatloaf was. Seeing this and your reaction to Paradise, seeing Meatloaf perform then the pain and feeling he had, avidly gave me chills a couple of times. The 70s were definitely the best for rock!
Meatloaf was an amazing performer and had a hell of a voice too!! The music video is on another level, I recommend watching that. There's actually TWO things in the music video he won't do...."screwing around" which was mentioned in this performance....also "move on" is the other thing he won't do!! So you were correct in your assumption :)
Meatloaf (Michael Lee Aday) was a stage actor/ singer before his rock music career. That experience shows in his songs. They are very theatrical in style and production, and he retained that powerful theater voice and enunciation. The line "I won't do that" always throws off first-time listeners. It refers to the line preceding it (I'll never forget the way you feel right now), etc. You'd be blown away by the story telling of the video of this song.
The "THAT" being referred to is what is described in the lines before the chorus. Cheating, lying, etc. Meatloaf (Real name Michael Lee Aday) is a very passionate singer and likes to put his all into it for his fans. If you like this, you will love them performing "Paradise By The Dashboard Lights".
You've got to "watch" the entire album. There are videos for each song that carry on from the last like short movies. MEAT LOAF was phenomenal, and when he performed he put everything he was into it. He is missed by many.😢
@@xtrememarine169 Thank you for having nothing better to do than correct my grammar! 🤣 I shall change it immediately, and endeavor to never misspell it again! Thus, you may find someone else to annoy. 🤪
Born Marvin Aday (may have the spelling wrong). Changed his name to Michael because he was overweight as a child and the Levi’s commercial at the time was “poor fat Marvin can’t wear Levi’s” At least that is what I recall reading in his auto biography.
Britt gets the beast thing, that speaks a lot about both Meat Loaf's spot on performance, and Britt's amazing feel for the arts. I stumbbled with one of your videos like an hour ago and cant stop.
Generally I would never recommend that a music video is something necessary to experience in music.. but Meatloaf's video for this is THE exception. It's a masterpiece of music cinematography and shows his genius in its fullest. And just because you mentioned that beauty and the beast quality- you're gonna love it.
@@sabin97 He also made the videos for: Meatloaf: "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through" Meatloaf: "Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer than They Are" Seduction: "Heartbeat" Slaughter: "Up All Night" Divinyls: "I Touch Myself"
"Paradise by the dashboard light" is his best. I saw meatloaf in February 1987 in february out in Hamptons NY, dead of winter. I was the first of my group of friends to buy a car , i was the ride, so i was dragged into it, im so glad i was!!! Maybe 150 people tops in some same club called The Bay street club. he was absolutely amazing. he was hanging out with the crowd slamming beers and chillin. He loved his fans, and they loved him. RIP Meat. thanks for the beautiful memories .
I was waiting for you to get to "Would you hose me down with holy water if I get too hot" and you didn't disappoint. But I kept shouting, "Be patient! He'll get to it!" when you kept stopping to ask what was "that." SHE: Sooner or later you'll be screwing around. HE: No I won't do that."
Meatloaf was without doubt THE best theatrical music performer of all time - in my opinion anyway. He gave it all, every time. Sad that he's gone. RIP.
Loved your reaction to Meatloaf. He had no equal when he performed... so happy you loved this version of the song... there are so many, so hope you will react to others. All the best.
I have the Bat out of Hell vinyl, the 8 track(remember those?) When it was time I got the cassette, the disc is in my car right now. Listen to it all the way for the Mississippi river to the Missouri river He's absolutley the only artist I've stayed true to for 45yrs. Saw him 4 times in concert. Few people are aware that he was the motorcyclist in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Great movie. I sobbed for weeks when he died. (complications of Covid) Husband thought he'd have to have me hospitalized for my health. I still have all of the Bat out of hell, plus several others. Miss you Michael Lee Aday. Aka Meat Loaf
As a youngster (I am 58 years old) I loved this song and I still love it. The way the female singer takes over is wildly impresssive. She was not the only female touring with Meat Loaf but the one i remember the best, I am happy you react to these long forgotten heroes of music. Not many do that these days
" Will you hose me down with Holy Water if I get too Hot "....one of the greatest lines in R n R.......I had exactly the same response when I heard it for the first time too !!!!!!
Meat had put out one album prior to his teaming with composer Jim Steinman. Steinman labeled his compositions as "Wagnerian Rock" and did indeed put major theatrics in almost every song he wrote. Besides the biggest songs from Meat Loaf, Steinman also wrote Total Eclipse Of The Heart for Bonnie Tyler, Making Love Out Of Nothing At All for Air Supply, It's All Coming Back To My Now for Pandora's Box (later covered by Celine Dion), and Left In The Dark Again for Barbara Streisand!
Watch the official video. It's a masterpiece. Meat Loaf was a storyteller; every video was a mini movie and had a distinct visual that backed up the music to a point where, for those of us in the MTV generation, they're indistinguishable. Objects in the Rearview Mirror is heartwrenching, I would do anything is sexy and provocative, Paradise is nostalgia. The man could act as well as sing. RIP. Edit: the video for this is based on Beauty and the Beast, sort of.
It’s so great to hear his live performances. But the videos actually tells a story that cooperates with the lyrics. His music style is more in the line of rock opera. The visuals are as important as the actual song. That being said … i love when reactors discover the musical marvel that is Meat Loaf. I was a teenager when Bat out of Hell was released. I was sold the very first time I heard that album. He is as magnificent to me now 40 years later, as he was when I discovered him as a teenage boy.
He’s so good! Must do paradise by the dash board light, official Video. He had a small but significant part in the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Total agree with your reaction. The perfect balance of drama and amazingness! Thanks Britt, loving you reactions!❤
I love Meatloaf's passion. He's a consummate musician, but he was also an actor. I saw him every Saturday night for two years going with my friends at Rocky Horror Picture Show in the early 80s. In a 2012 interview, he said there were three singers he knew about who had what he called "overdrive": Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Adam Lambert. Not bad company to be in.
This is the first time I have seen this video. What else can you say about these two singers except simply, wow. I really enjoyed your enthusiasm throughout the presentation. And, it is well deserved here. Thanks for an honest review because it also knocked my socks off.
I saw Meatloaf live and he was my favorite concert of all-time. Dude was amazing, all-in and was an awesome stage performer. His voice sounded EXACTLY like the studio tracks but with a little added affectations. It was just AWESOME.
I seen the tour for this album and still the best musical sound I've ever herd in concert. The last time I seen him he was 63 and performed for over 2 hours. He will be missed
Marvin Lee Aday was a singer, a movie and tv actor. He did it all. I had the joy of seeing him in Hasting, Michigan in 1969 in a band called The Popcorn Blizzard. That was before anybody knew who he was.
Meat Loaf had a gift like Celine Dion in that they can sing anything in a dramatic way. He did a dramatic cover of the Bagel Bites jingle on a night talk show.
Another dope reaction Brittney! Check out 'for Crying out loud' also by Meatloaf. If you thought this song was a great love song ("I want that kind of love!") you'll fall off your chair at For Crying Out Loud. Best love song written imho.
You hit the nail on the head when you said Broadway show, Meatloaf (the male singer) got his start as a theatrical actor, then moved into rock. All his performances are just that, he is not just on stage singing, he is performing, his actions and expressions add power to the lyrics. Also, if you really want to see him looking like the Beast, watch the official video for this song
Meatloaf has always been into essentially rock opera, his Paradise By The Dash Board Lights Was one of his best songs, Meatloaf was also actor and in several movies even as Eddie in The Rocky Horror Movie.
Broadway show is a good analogy, because that's Meatloaf's resting place. Everything he does is musical theatre. You'll hear people refer to him as the consummate rock opera, which his exactly right. What you see here is nothing. This is him just singing a ballad, he's barely messing around here. His shows were off the chains theatrical, he was literally world-famous for his performance quality.
One of hte most iconic and amazing singers--Meatloaf. Thank you for this reaction video. Now do 'Paradise by the Dashboard Lights'. Then check out his song in the Rocky Horror Picture Show, 'Hot Patootie (Bless My Soul) '. It is so freaking much fun.
Just found your chanel. Your appreciation of the music you react to are a breath of fresh air. And "that..." is the thing the listener is the most afraid of in their relationship according to an interview of Jim Steinman
Watching your reaction was just as spellbinding as Meatloaf's performance. I loved the look on your face when you realized what he won't do!!! Perfect!
Meat Loaf is the lead singer. Jim Steinman wrote a lot of Meat's songs and played piano for him for years. He is known for his yo-yo songs where the music goes up then down and back up again. You were spot on about that. Jim Steinman has a hugs catalogue of songs he wrote. Air Supply and Celine Dion topped the charts with a couple of his songs. Meat said once in an interview that he had a lot of anxiety when he was on stage and had uncontrollable shaking. He is always theatrical and he has some of the best videos there ever was.
Meatloaf is the lead singer's nickname given to him by his father. He teamed up with Jim Steinman to write Bat Out of Hell, one of the greatest rock albums of all time. Steinman wrote the lyrics and music while Meatloaf sang the songs. Check out the title track Bat Out of Hell as well as Paradise by the Dashboard light. And yes, you were VERY correct. The video for I Would Do Anything for Love is a Beauty and the Beast themed video. Meatloaf died recently but he also appeared in many movies including Fight Club and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a cult classic from the 70's.
Meatloaf's voice is unique. It is instantly recognizable. Many od his songs come across as stage, or operatic in nature. rather than for albums, or radio. I believe he was in Rocky Horror Picture Show, as well as other rock operas. Such talent, and passion.
Second singer is Patti Russo. She toured with Meat Loaf for 20 years, but was not on the album version of this song. The album singer was Lorraine Crosby (no relation to Bing). The music video for the song featured Crosby's voice, but her role was played by model Dana Patrick, who mimed the singing. Crosby sang background vocals on several other Meat Loaf songs from the same album. Oh, and the band is called Neverland Express.
Meat Loaf isn't the name of the band, it was the gentleman singing (who unfortunately passed away last year). The name of the band is actually Neverland Express, but they are not talked about that often. They are still performing even though Meat has passed away with Caleb Johnson who won American Idol season 13 taking his place. While you are right, leaving is one of the things he won't do, there were a number of other things... like stop dreaming of you every night of my life, forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight, do it better than I do it with you, and forget the way you fell right now. As was pointed out by someone else, his real name is Michael Lee Aday, except that wasn't his birth name either it was actually was Marvin, but he hated that name because there was an advertisement when he was a child that went "Fat Marvin can't wear Levi's." At one point during the 80's he was having to sign some contracts and he was required to use his real name, so he went to court and told the judge the story and the judge said "Ok from now on your name is Michael." (At least that is how Meat told the story in the interview I saw, some of his stories about his life were inconsistent) The song was written by his long term collaborator Jim Steinman who wrote pretty much every song that Meat sang that became popular. He also for other singers including "Total Eclipse of the heart" and "Holding out for a hero." He wrote "It's all coming back to me now" for Celine Dion and Air Supply's "Making love out of Nothing at all" - and many many more.
Good observation ... He has a long list of acting credits going all the way back to Rocky Horror Picture Show. They say the line for what he won't do before each chorus: 1 - I'll never forget the way you feel right now 2 - I'll never forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight 3 - I'll never do it better than I do it with you 4 - I'll never stop dreaming of you every night of my life 5 - She sings - Then you'll see that it's time to move on 6 - She sings - Sooner or later you'll be screwing around R.I.P. Michael "Meatloaf " Aday .. Died January 20, 2022 - 74 years young

Watch the video, they make him up to look very similar to the beast. It’s very theatrical and wonderful!
Michael Lee Aday, known professionally as Meat Loaf, was an American rock singer and actor with a powerful, wide-ranging voice, famous for his theatrical live shows. He is on the list of best-selling music artists. Died January of 2022 RIP
thank you Wikipedia
Meatloaf is always theatrical, his shows are always like watching a theatrical play. One of the GREATS!
His name is Meat Loaf!!
@@xtrememarine169 got it, didn't know i was being graded. I'm well aware of the career of "Meat Loaf".... There you happy? Carry on..
@@GreyWolf420 That was good lol
"Will you hose me down with holy water, if I get too hot?" has got to one of the BEST lines in a song EVER!
The line before "I would do anything for love" is what he WONT do.
Meatloaf’s performance is legendary! He really put everything into his shows RIP.
Ah, Another one bites the dust. Meatloaf = great singer and performer...very powerful. RIP meat man.
It is not Meatloaf...it is Meat Loaf!!
MEAT LOAF is his legal name.
Marvin Lee Aday
The "THAT" being referred to is what is described in the lines before the chorus. Cheating, lying, etc. Meatloaf (Real name Michael Lee Aday) is a very passionate singer and likes to put his all into it for his fans. If you like this, you will love them performing "Paradise By The Dashboard Lights".
What a dynamic, attractive personality. Not referring to Meatloaf, referring to BrittReacts. Awesome reaction.
Meatloaf's songs are like mini operas, and always awesome
You've got to "watch" the entire album. There are videos for each song that carry on from the last like short movies. MEAT LOAF was phenomenal, and when he performed he put everything he was into it. He is missed by many.😢
His name is not Meatloaf...it is Meat Loaf!
@@xtrememarine169 Thank you for having nothing better to do than correct my grammar! 🤣 I shall change it immediately, and endeavor to never misspell it again! Thus, you may find someone else to annoy. 🤪
Dear Shirley South Hard, how would you like it if someone got your name wrong? Wasn't correcting your grammer. Have a wonderful day!
Born Marvin Aday (may have the spelling wrong). Changed his name to Michael because he was overweight as a child and the Levi’s commercial at the time was “poor fat Marvin can’t wear Levi’s”
At least that is what I recall reading in his auto biography.
Patti Russo- Beautiful and so so talented
Meatloaf is probably the best theatre entertainer there ever was. he gave 210% in all his shows.
Meatloaf always said he was more of an actor than anything else, but he was the PREMERE showman.
…and it was directed by Michael Bay.
@@BigFrankieC
i hate michael bay....as a human being.....for what he did to the transformers.
but i do love the video.
@@sabin97 He also made the videos for:
Meatloaf: "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through"
Meatloaf: "Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer than They Are"
Seduction: "Heartbeat"
Slaughter: "Up All Night"
Divinyls: "I Touch Myself"
One of my top 10 songs of all time. I adore this song and the music video is just like a movie or a dream...
He was just one of THE greatest stage performers. Brilliant concerts. I was so shaken by his death. RIP Meat, a rock legend.
❤️❤️❤️
"I won't do that" changes meaning every stanza, it references whatever he says after "But I would never..." a few lines earlier.
Meatloaf was without doubt THE best theatrical music performer of all time - in my opinion anyway. He gave it all, every time. Sad that he's gone. RIP.
Great reaction, Britt! I loved it. It warms my heart to see young people discover the unbelievable music journey that us boomers experienced!
Loved your reaction to Meatloaf. He had no equal when he performed... so happy you loved this version of the song... there are so many, so hope you will react to others. All the best.
His name is Meat Loaf! not Meatloaf
I have the Bat out of Hell vinyl, the 8 track(remember those?) When it was time I got the cassette, the disc is in my car right now. Listen to it all the way for the Mississippi river to the Missouri river
He's absolutley the only artist I've stayed true to for 45yrs.
There are not many better musical collaborations that Jim Steinman and Meatloaf. Just bloody brilliant.
The album this is from, Bat Out Of Hell 2, is MY favorite Meatloaf album
You will also enjoy his duet with Marion Raven "It's all coming back to me now" official video. I prefer it to the Celine Dion version. Amazing video
A regret in life is never catching this man in live performance, he is phenomenal. RIP Meatloaf, you graced my life with beautiful music.
I love you're reactions to these 70's artists, the music was so pure back then. Yep, you were born an generation too late...love your videos. ✌
He’s so good! Must do paradise by the dash board light, official Video.
He had a small but significant part in the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Total agree with your reaction. The perfect balance of drama and amazingness! Thanks Britt, loving you reactions!❤
RIP Meatloaf!! Great reaction to this amazing Man 😊. He was so ahead of his time!!! Please continue to explore his music
Meatloaf is the singer only... 😁 He was amazing
You should react to Paradise by The Dashboard Light next
I could watch your expressions all day, they are absolutely gorgeous. Especially with songs like this that just blow you away.
Thank you.
Britt, you realize the music video for this song is literally Beauty and the Beast. Amazing reaction. More Meatloaf!
SPOT ON reaction!!! Thank you for this reaction to my all time favorite song!!!
Some people just make singing look so easy. Would not matter what he sings his voice is magic. I am not huge fan but I can recognize pure talent.
This is the first time I have seen this video. What else can you say about these two singers except simply, wow. I really enjoyed your enthusiasm throughout the presentation. And, it is well deserved here. Thanks for an honest review because it also knocked my socks off.
Meatloaf is a person a great singer
I saw Meatloaf live and he was my favorite concert of all-time. Dude was amazing, all-in and was an awesome stage performer. His voice sounded EXACTLY like the studio tracks but with a little added affectations. It was just AWESOME.
funny thing about Meatloaf, he considered himself an actor and was actually in A LOT of movies, check it out
I seen the tour for this album and still the best musical sound I've ever herd in concert.
Meatloaf was quite the showman, He had a nice tenor voice but because he was a large powerful man he could really belt it out.
So glad you got a chance to see and hear this performance. It's clear you love music and feel it inside like many of us do.
Meatloaf was the best group ever in my opinion, I was a teenager when bat out of hell came and and was hooked.
Meat Loaf is the lead singer he also worked on Broadway thats why its so theatrical
In death, a member of project mayhem has a name. His name is Robert Paulson. RIP Meat Loaf, thanks for all of it.
The way the song keeps changing tempo adds so much to it-room who the staging and then room for the band and slow then fast. Awesome arrangement.
Meatloaf's voice is unique. It is instantly recognizable. Many od his songs come across as stage, or operatic in nature. rather than for albums, or radio. I believe he was in Rocky Horror Picture Show, as well as other rock operas. Such talent, and passion.
Rock Opera at it's finest. Meatloaf is the name of the male singer.
He was the opera singer of rock, amazing…
Meat Loaf isn't the name of the band, it was the gentleman singing (who unfortunately passed away last year). The name of the band is actually Neverland Express, but they are not talked about that often. They are still performing even though Meat has passed away with Caleb Johnson who won American Idol season 13 taking his place.
While you are right, leaving is one of the things he won't do, there were a number of other things... like stop dreaming of you every night of my life, forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight, do it better than I do it with you, and forget the way you fell right now.
As was pointed out by someone else, his real name is Michael Lee Aday, except that wasn't his birth name either it was actually was Marvin, but he hated that name because there was an advertisement when he was a child that went "Fat Marvin can't wear Levi's." At one point during the 80's he was having to sign some contracts and he was required to use his real name, so he went to court and told the judge the story and the judge said "Ok from now on your name is Michael." (At least that is how Meat told the story in the interview I saw, some of his stories about his life were inconsistent)
The song was written by his long term collaborator Jim Steinman who wrote pretty much every song that Meat sang that became popular. He also for other singers including "Total Eclipse of the heart" and "Holding out for a hero." He wrote "It's all coming back to me now" for Celine Dion and Air Supply's "Making love out of Nothing at all" - and many many more.
Meatloaf is one of my fav artists and I've always gotten beauty and the beast vibes from this performance
Good observation ... He has a long list of acting credits going all the way back to Rocky Horror Picture Show.
They say the line for what he won't do before each chorus:
1 - I'll never forget the way you feel right now
2 - I'll never forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight
3 - I'll never do it better than I do it with you
4 - I'll never stop dreaming of you every night of my life
5 - She sings - Then you'll see that it's time to move on
6 - She sings - Sooner or later you'll be screwing around
R.I.P. Michael "Meatloaf " Aday .. Died January 20, 2022 - 74 years young
missed a couple
One of my favorite songs and one of the greatest singers of all time.
BEAUTIFUL! I love Meatloaf and pray he is singing his heart out in Heaven with Freddie Murcury, my two all time favs!
When you said he looks like The Beast my heart melted. Thats basically what the character he plays in the video and I loved that you called it out from a live performance. Goes to show how talented Meatloaf was. Love your reactions I'v watched and enjoyed your Lil Dicky and now both Meatloaf reactions. Hope to see what else you discover soon! I don't know if anyone else suggested it but I think you would love Meatloaf- Objects In The Rear View Mirror (May Appear Closer Than They Are)
You are spot on!!!!! In the official video, he plays the part of the beast!!! Good work Britt
