To me, Meatloaf is a legend. At minimum he can say he has has 3 or 4 songs that when listened to, captivate the listener. The lyrics, vocals, musicianship and videography are impeccable. An amazing talent.
Shame, shame on the so called Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for denying Meat. RIP Brother, most of us know how you and Jim created a special place in rock history.
Meatloaf is so fucking amazing. That voice is so powerful. Love him in The Pick Of Destiny too! But this song is one of the most epic rock ballads of all time
This song was huge back when it came out. I was 15 at the time, so it brings back some serious emotions for me. This would never chart if released in 2021, the charts are a different beast now...
did you know jim steinman wrote it's all coming back to me. It was meant for MeatLoaf to sing originally but I think it was saline dion or some sheila along those lines came along and paid jim steinman big bucks to allow her to sing that very song........ I watched the Biography of MeatLoaf.
Meat Loaf always thought he should have first dibs on Jim Steinman songs, which led to considerable tension when Bonnie Tyler & Celine Dion had monster hits with Steinman compositions.
The woman in the video is Dana Patrick, an actress. The vocal you are hearing is Lorraine Crosby. You should give a listen to another track from that album..."Objects In The Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are" its a great song.
I've been a huge Meat Loaf fan since the 70s. This guy is just the ultimate entertainer in the purest form of the word. His real name is Marvin Lee Aday, but his nickname since high school was Meat Loaf (or just "Meat") and he decided to make that his professional name. He started in musical theater and also did some movie acting. One of his most famous movie roles was as "Eddie" in the legendary Rocky Horror Picture Show. When he decided to start a solo career (after a stint as the lead singer for Ted Nugent's band), he practically invented the genre sometimes called Theatrical Rock. He turns every performance into a mini-musical. I've had the great pleasure of seeing him live five times, and his concerts are huge spectaculars!! His Bat Out Of Hell album is considered one of the greatest albums of all time. My favorite song of his is Paradise By The Dashboard Light...and the video is a MUST see! His primary songwriter was Jim Steinman, a true musical genius who we sadly lost recently. Steinman was also the keyboardist for Meat Loaf's touring band.
Jim Steinman who wrote All of Meatloaf's music with him just passed away last week. He also wrote for Bonnie Tyler Total Eclipse of the Heart You should watch that
He didn't actually write all of Meatloaf's material but most of the classic Meatloaf material. He also did a few tracks for the Streets of Fire film including Tonight is What it Means to be Young, a personal favourite of mine.

Easily the best reaction to this song and video I have seen. I loved how invested you two were in the story. Thank you for this. I am a romantic guy and the end of the video leaves me in tears every time.
So good to see Rich's emotional reaction to this song . Kel picked up on it beautifully and shared it with us all. A tender, loving moment that has become my fav moment between them. What makes it so special to me is that normally we react to Kel's emotion whilst Rich looks on. This was about him letting her know how this song makes him feel about her - that was clear to see. Wonderful.
I was only 7 when this came out, and I think it was the first time I realized that music could be intense and powerful, even if I was too young to understand *why* this song is so good. In a roundabout way, I guess Meat Loaf is responsible for me pursuing singing. Never realized that until now.
The woman in the video was actually the vocalist on the track she was just lip singing. The actual female vocalist is only credited as Ms. Loud on the album. I am not sure if she was ever identified.

Hey, y'all ever heard "paradise by the dashboard"?...it's more "Meatloaf"😉✌
THANK YOU for allowing ME to experience this song with you you're first time. This song came out when I was in high school.. I am 43 now. I got to re- feel it all over again! Thank you both! Be blessed!
This is the best way to react to music, listen right through and then comment at the end. Videos at this time told the story of the song, fantastic
RIP Meatloaf ❤😪 You will be missed.
