I heard this version first and being totally blown away with it, when I got round to listening to the Wall when I discovered it in my dad's vinyl collection I wondered where the rest of the song was. 😆
I saw this tour in Atlanta, GA. It was an amazing show. When they got to the, "There'll be no more, AHH!" part, 50,000 people in the audience sang along with the AHHH!!. It was one of the best moments I ever experienced at a concert.
I love the solo at the end, especially because it conveys how almost desperate he is, fighting against the numbness, whether medically induced, or numbness to the things we see in our lives as we age, he sounds as though he's trying to break out, and it's such an emotionally moving and evocative performance.
David rips his heart and soul, serves it directly to ours, deeply out of deepness and leaves us rethinking our existence. This is how the music is supposed to speak to us.
I'm a guitar player.. i've been covering pink floyd songs (and many others) for over 40 years.. this song always gets the crowd swaying.. arms in the air... lighters out.. our band started playing a long solo outro like this after seeing this performance back in the 90's.. it's a crowd favorite..

This is one of those rare songs where the instruments, vocals, atmosphere and lighting portray the meaning of the song so perfectly it’s just mesmerizing. The entire Pulse concert is IMO one of the best concerts ever performed. Right up there with the Nightwish 2013 Wacken concert. 🔥🔥🔥
As someone with chronic neuromuscular pain, this is the one PF that means the most to me personally. In many ways just listening to their music can be a form of pain relief. To really get the full impact watch the movie "The Wall", or at least the video clip from it.
Gilmore turned Comfortably Numb into a tribute to Roger Waters, not that Roger ever appreciated it. Suffice it to say, you just listened to the most masterful live guitar solo ever recorded. Thank you so much for reacting to this. I was in high school when this song first came out in 1979. I remember it well. My friends and I loved attending concerts. A very enjoyable reaction. You have a beautiful smile, and your face lit up through the whole performance. I enjoy watching others when they really like something that has been special to me for so long. Well done.
This song has two of the most iconic guitar solos in the history of rock music. David Gilmour is a legendary guitarist and vocalist, he sings through his guitar and says so much with just a few notes. You should check out their song "Echoes" from their album Meddle, it's epic and has the same relaxed feel but gets really, really trippy too. Another great reaction, keep up the great work!
Wow. Thank you for reading how the album, The Wall came about and this song, Comfortably Numb. I can appreciate it more. A deeper understanding of the song. A connection with the muscian-the human. 👏👏👏
I believe the circle lighting behind the stage explains the feeling on the one in need of a fix by the doctor. Lighting dull, then afterwards light up bright etc etc. thank you for such an awesome review 💕
Saw them 4 times, twice with Waters in 75 & 77 and then after he left, in 87 & 94. They were equally as good and mind blowing, but with a different, incredible set each time. In 75 the 1st set was stuff they were working on for Wish You Were Here and Animals, the standout was an early Shine On. The 2nd set was all of Dark Side of the Moon, followed by an encore of Echoes. First time for Floyd was the best trip I ever had! 😏 In 77 they opened with all of Animals with David Gilmour ripping on a telecaster guitar. The second set was Wish You Were Here in its entirety. They encored with a medley from Dark Side... Both Boston Garden shows have audio evidence available on You Tube and well worth checking out. 87 saw Gilmour firmly in charge, doing a set mainly of the new Momentary Lapse of Reason which really brought that album to life with great visuals, then a 2nd set that was a mix of familiar Floyd classic tunes. They were back and seemed they needed to prove it was still them, mission accomplished. Lastly in 1994, it was the tour you just got a glimpse of them at their peak on the Pulse Tour, a fine mix of new and old for the first set, followed by the entire Dark Side of the Moon. They finished with a similar scene to what you just saw and lastly did You'd Better Run. Fantastic show in Foxboro MA. I also saw David Gilmour for 2 Saturday nights in a row in the mid 1980s for a solo tour he did with Mick Ralphs from Bad Company on 2nd guitar. Fantastic show, he did his fine song, Murder, then Comfortably Numb as the encore, you can see that tour on You Tube as well. Lastly, saw Roger Waters 4 times solo, first time he went out with Eric Clapton on lead guitar, was way cool hearing Eric take a swing at old Floyd classics, this was the Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking tour which was the 2nd set. I also saw him do a greatest hits tour, another tour centered on a great take of Dark Side of the Moon and last time was when he brought The Wall out for a massive tour, one of the highest grossing of all time. We were in a large arena and the stage was gigantic, they had new, modern visuals projected onto the Wall once it was fully built, you can see video of that tour and it is very much a must see. Pink Floyd has been a lifelong love affair for me, I first heard them on the experimental Ummagumma in 1969 and have been hooked ever since. Not many artists have multiple, large tribute bands touring the globe as everyone still wants to hear their music. As I say, if you are not a Pink Floyd fan, you will be if you listen to any of their 70s classic albums. Glad to see you starting your Pink Floyd journey, it truly is any color you like. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎷🎶
I saw the original Pink Floyd in1977 in Anaheim stadium…. but today I listen to Morresette , GiGi , Ez mil, KZ T., and a slew of other Filipino karaoke singers!
Opera is an acquired taste. David Gilmour's guitar playing is universally enjoyed, inspirational and a big warm hug. Oh and he has such a warm voice...absolute legend.
This was the culmination of Pink Floyd's "Division Bell" tour when they sold out the Earl's Court arena (capacity 10,750) for fourteen nights between the 13th and 29th of October (the original first night [12th October] was repeated on what was to have been a rest day [17th October] due to a seating collapse on the 12th). I may be a little biased because I attended the same college as David Gilmour and was in attendance that night, the 20th October - I took a half-day off work as I missed out on weekend tickets and had to go on the second Thursday, which turned out to be the one they filmed for the PULSE DD release (2nd tier, a few rows back, stage right facing the sound and lighting desk) but the closing solo is the greatest guitar solo of all time. There are many great guitarists who can walk on stage, plug their guitar into a pedal board and amplifier, and deliver an excellent performance, be it on the high speed or great tone of their playing. But David Gilmour walks on stage, plugs his guitar into his heart and your soul, and feeds emotion right from one to the other. At the time it was the highest-grossing tour ever. Only four of the hundred and twelve performances were not totally sold out, and even those weren't far short. I have no idea how many people they played for in the entire tour, but just those fourteen nights at Earl's Court totalled over 273 thousand, and other venues included several Olympic stadia and other huge sports venues more used to Major League Baseball, international soccer matches and NFL games, so probably ten million plus. That huge circular lighting truss that moved right over the heads of the performers weighed fourteen tonnes and carried over 25kw of power. Seeing the whole thing tip over from a back projection screen (which it had been through most of the show) to create that crown over the band was just awesome, and then the glitter ball lit up with 25 super troupers focused on it and our heads almost exploded - and all perfectly choreographed to the music to enhance it and not steal the show. To be honest, the last encore song (This was the second), "Run Like Hell" was an anticlimax, but probably designed that way to let us down gradually from the peak. I was walking on air for weeks!
Great reaction! I love that you pulled up the lyrics and didn't pause during one of the greatest live solos in recorded history. When you get to On the Turning Away, be sure to have the lyrics up from the beginning. They're... not bad.
As an opera performer I advice you to hear "Great Gig In the Sky" 1973 Original track from Dark Side of the Moon ...Without any interruption... Pleeaaeeaase 😅😅😅 You'll find some of you in it my daughter 😊
David Gilmour is one of those guys that just seems to be able to effortlessly keep his voice in good shape, he's sounded exactly the same for the last 40 years pretty much and it seems to come very naturally to him or he may just be very aware of which keys are comfortable for him and that's what he tends to write in an ultimately it is giving him a longevity. Someone else is probably mentioned it here but that same quality happens to live in his guitar playing as well it is lyrical and seemingly effortless. He just picks up the guitar and sings Through It. One thing many people don't know is that he sort of helped discover Kate Bush when she was about 17 he produced her first album
Love seeing the younger generation appreciate this wonderful music. I’ve been a Pink Floyd fan since 1971, aged 15, when I heard the sensational ‘Echoes’, from the 1971 Album, ‘Meddle’. You clearly enjoyed this version of ‘Comfortably Numb’, so I highly recommend you try this one too. Even if it’s just for your own personal viewing. I was lucky enough to see the ‘One Night Only’ Cinema showing of David Gilmour’s return to the Pompeii Amphitheater, in 2016, with his Band. (Pink Floyd’s previous visit being in 1971, when they were filmed playing ‘Echoes’, in the Centre of the Amphitheater, with no audience). And this version of ‘Comfortably Numb’, from that 2016 Show, is sensational. This time to an audience. And what a light Show this has too. All in the stunning setting of this Roman Amphitheater. David Gilmour, absolutely sensational, aged 70. Incredible. Just my own feelings. Go on, give it a try. You won’t regret it. ua-cam.com/video/eHKG7EMxWW8/v-deo.html 🎶🎸❤️🎸🎶
Spine tingling guitar solo. David Gilmour at his best. Comfortably Numb is about a burnt out rock star whose given drugs to get him through the show. The opening "Hello! Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me!" is the doctor talking to him. It was rumoured that it was a reference to founder member Syd Barrett? Chilling stuff. The person that the song Wish You Were Here is about. You should listen to Pink Floyd's Epic song Echoes on the 1971 album Meddle. Echoes takes up half of the albums length, at just over 23 minutes.
During this song towards the end during the guitar solo, there were so many people around me and we all had tears in our eyes just totally getting into the song and the performance. You should check out Echoes, Atom Heart Mother & Shine On You Crazy Diamond
I like the way you reacting and understanding the lyric, I came here because I saw those of you my age reacting to Pink Floyd, Comfortably Numb is one of their masterpieces like what you reacting before ( The Great Gig In The Sky), keep it up and I recommend to listening Shine On You Crazy Diamonds
You chose wisely for your Comfortably Numb song reaction. That "Pulse" concert is a home run. This was done before Richard Wright, on keyboards passed away, in early 2000s, Nick Mason is on the drums, and of course David Gilmour is playing lead guitar. Roger Waters, one of the other members split from them, but wrote the lyrics for a lot of their songs.
Glad you got to see this. David has the perfect voice for this song. Who says guitar players can't sing? Well, there is a reason we're guitar players. My voice is very similar to his, sort of the high baritone/low tenor comfort zone. I don't think either one of us would make a great opera singer, but there's a lot of enjoyment in singing the 3rd or the 5th along with other people and making the whole greater than the sum of the parts, or however that saying goes. The power and breath control of opera singers is a wonder to behold. Plus, you have to sing in different languages. Your singing is wonderful.
Is such a thrill to see the younger generation react to fans like Pink Floyd from the 70s Pink Floyd was always considered way ahead of their time and cutting edge at their time we considered it meditation music, putting the headphones on cranking up the volume, laying back and closing your eyes and see where it takes you. and yet there’s always a message. High hopes And. Sorrow are two other very impressive performances off of the same live performance
As much as I like this live performance when the singers were getting older, I still think the original album version is the best way to hear this song. IMHO.
Your reaction to this song, was the same as i had, when i flew from Australia just for the concert, a life changing event. i've been a Floydy for over 50 years now, and it's good to see young people reacting. i taught myself to play a guitar after hearing Wish You Were Here. now i play some Floyd every night. each PF album is a journey, and each track is a different path on that journey. i will agree with other peoples comments about not pausing through Dave Gilmour's solos. your journey has just started. DON'T STOP you won't regret it 😁😁😁
I saw The Wall-the film on the day of the Regents Park Bomb in 1982 after being evacuated from the Bomb site and saw The Wall and this concert during the Division Bell Tour in 1994 in Earls Court, London but didn't hear the pulse CD and realise it was from London until I saw it on youtube this year....Fanatasic always a pleasure to see people experience it.
Now you are ready for Echoes live in Pompeii from 1971. The first performance at the original Roman ampitheatre for over 2,000 years...... and without an audience.
I'm late to the game but appreciated you not pausing it during the solo and I could tell you really enjoyed it. Its mind blowing and I cant imagine what it would have been like in person in the concert! Just out of this world. Literally. Also unrelated to the music, but my god you have such a pretty face! Anyway so ya I really appreciate your reaction to this :) If you have the opportunity to react to "Copperhead Road" by Steve Earle, I think you'd enjoy it :)
You will be blown away by Jeff Healey. He plays the guitar and sings. Theres a surprise I will leave out have you find. Angel Eyes is a good song to start with.

David Gilmour is a legendary guitarist and vocalist, he sings through his guitar and says so much with just a few notes. You should check out their song "Echoes" from their album Meddle, it's epic and has the same relaxed feel but gets really, really trippy too. Another great reaction, keep up the great work!
Thanks so much for sharing🥰
Great reaction!! Thanks so much for not interrupting that guitar solo!
I’m so glad that this music is still appealing to the younger generation 😊
Thanks so much for watching too
Welcome to the Pink Floyd experience. It's ALL this good.
🥰
Your analysis is better than 95% of the ones I see here on youtube.
Oh wow thanks for your kind words🥰
Amazing song (and performance) top to bottom; probably my favorite Pink Floyd song... not to mention one of the best guitar solos of all time
🥰🥰🥰
Thank you, Aaliyah. For another great reaction video!
Thank you too for watching
Perfection in musical form ! ❤❤❤
Great reaction to an awesome song, & one of the most iconic guitar solos of all time.
🥰🥰🥰
Wow. Thank you for reading how the album, The Wall came about and this song, Comfortably Numb. I can appreciate it more. A deeper understanding of the song. A connection with the muscian-the human. 👏👏👏
Thanks so much for watching too
I believe the circle lighting behind the stage explains the feeling on the one in need of a fix by the doctor. Lighting dull, then afterwards light up bright etc etc. thank you for such an awesome review 💕
Oh thanks so much 🥰
Saw them 4 times, twice with Waters in 75 & 77 and then after he left, in 87 & 94.
In 77 they opened with all of Animals with David Gilmour ripping on a telecaster guitar.
Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎷🎶
Oh thanks so much for sharing
I saw the original Pink Floyd in1977 in Anaheim stadium…. but today I listen to Morresette , GiGi , Ez mil, KZ T., and a slew of other Filipino karaoke singers!
Thanks for sharing🥰
the music of pink floyd always take to you in a journey, i have never seen better production that was done in this concert, probobly the best ever
😍😍😍
Opera is an acquired taste. David Gilmour's guitar playing is universally enjoyed, inspirational and a big warm hug. Oh and he has such a warm voice...absolute legend.
Thanks for sharing🌺
It's cool how a opera singer can enjoy rock music.
🥰🥰🥰
Some song are epic! This band is Iconic!
🥰
Thanks so much for sharing🥰
This is one of my many favorite songs of all time
🥰🥰🥰
💕👏💕👏💕👏Also bravo to you Aaliyah for a most excellent reaction and song selection from the Pulse concert!!!
Thanks so much too
Great reaction! I love that you pulled up the lyrics and didn't pause during one of the greatest live solos in recorded history. When you get to On the Turning Away, be sure to have the lyrics up from the beginning. They're... not bad.
Thanks so much for your recommendation🌺
Superb reaction. One of my favorite songs of all time and definitely my favorite guitar solo. David Gilmore is a guitar maestro!
Thanks so much🥰
Your awesome!!You showe me y this song is so great !!Thank you young lady !!!Keep kicking ass
Oh thanks for your kind words🥰
*Iconic song & one of the best solo guitar part that many guitarist love to learn to play*

As an opera performer
I advice you to hear
"Great Gig In the Sky" 1973
Original track
from Dark Side of the Moon
...Without any interruption...
Pleeaaeeaase 😅😅😅
You'll find some of you in it my daughter 😊
🥰🥰🥰
I love to see when someone "Gets" Pink Floyd , it is an emotional experience, not simply listening.
🥰
Gorgeous, not only the song but you are
Oh thanks so much
David Gilmour is one of those guys that just seems to be able to effortlessly keep his voice in good shape, he's sounded exactly the same for the last 40 years pretty much and it seems to come very naturally to him or he may just be very aware of which keys are comfortable for him and that's what he tends to write in an ultimately it is giving him a longevity. Someone else is probably mentioned it here but that same quality happens to live in his guitar playing as well it is lyrical and seemingly effortless. He just picks up the guitar and sings Through It. One thing many people don't know is that he sort of helped discover Kate Bush when she was about 17 he produced her first album
Thanks for sharing
I saw this concert 1994 in Gothenburg in Sweden. God, I wish I could see it live once again!
Thanks for sharing

So great, you were able to see it. Thanks so much for taking the time to share, much appreciated♥️
Lets pray that you never have to go through what they were into. Great reaction, and it's one of their best.
Thanks so much🥰
Spine tingling guitar solo.
Thanks so much for sharing🌺
During this song towards the end during the guitar solo, there were so many people around me and we all had tears in our eyes just totally getting into the song and the performance. You should check out Echoes, Atom Heart Mother & Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Thanks for the recommendation
The guitar has a voice of its own!
💕💕💕
I like the way you reacting and understanding the lyric, I came here because I saw those of you my age reacting to Pink Floyd, Comfortably Numb is one of their masterpieces like what you reacting before ( The Great Gig In The Sky), keep it up and I recommend to listening Shine On You Crazy Diamonds
Thanks so much for watching and for the recommendation too
You chose wisely for your Comfortably Numb song reaction.
Thanks so much for sharing

Thanks for sharing
As much as I like this live performance when the singers were getting older, I still think the original album version is the best way to hear this song. IMHO.
Your reaction to this song, was the same as i had, when i flew from Australia just for the concert, a life changing event. i've been a Floydy for over 50 years now, and it's good to see young people reacting. i taught myself to play a guitar after hearing Wish You Were Here. now i play some Floyd every night. each PF album is a journey, and each track is a different path on that journey. i will agree with other peoples comments about not pausing through Dave Gilmour's solos. your journey has just started. DON'T STOP you won't regret it 😁😁😁
Thanks so much for taking the time to share💕
Listen closely to the lyrics from the song called Time, they are so true
The absolute best use of a disco ball EVER!
🥰
I saw The Wall-the film on the day of the Regents Park Bomb in 1982 after being evacuated from the Bomb site and saw The Wall and this concert during the Division Bell Tour in 1994 in Earls Court, London but didn't hear the pulse CD and realise it was from London until I saw it on youtube this year....Fanatasic always a pleasure to see people experience it.
Thanks so much for sharing
Brilliant song and a great show (I was there 🙂). Now you must revisit the Pulse version of Great Gig In The Sky.
Thanks for sharing
There's still hope for this generation, seeing young humans, enjoying and appreciating good music, art.

The Show must go on. We performers know this

The greatest Pink Floyd song.
🥰
Now you are ready for Echoes live in Pompeii from 1971.
The first performance at the original Roman ampitheatre for over 2,000 years...... and without an audience.
🥰
I see them 8 or9 time live and I still list today
Just discovered your channel prescribing to it simply because you're going in to pink floyd
Thanks so much 🥰
I'm late to the game but appreciated you not pausing it during the solo and I could tell you really enjoyed it. Its mind blowing and I cant imagine what it would have been like in person in the concert! Just out of this world. Literally. Also unrelated to the music, but my god you have such a pretty face! Anyway so ya I really appreciate your reaction to this :)
If you have the opportunity to react to "Copperhead Road" by Steve Earle, I think you'd enjoy it :)
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch too💕
You will be blown away by Jeff Healey. He plays the guitar and sings. Theres a surprise I will leave out have you find. Angel Eyes is a good song to start with.
Great reaction. I’m 69 and have seen them a few times, but not since the giant inflatable pigs. Pink Floyd, John Martyn and Steely Dan are the soundtrack to my life.
Thanks for sharing
btw you may want to react to John Farnham pick anything, you will see how much range he has 'touch of paradise' is a nice 1
Thanks for the recommendation
I see you were WARNED. NEVER EVER pause during a Gilmore solo! Good Girl!😂😂👍👍
Sorry about that
I really enjoy your reactions. Don’t ever stop!
Oh thanks so much for your kind words and appreciation💕
this is the classical music which will be played in a hundred years time!!

thank you! now don't forget to check out patricia janeckova on you tube singing, 'once upon a time in the west' aged 12, 'summertime' & 'think of me' from 6 & 4 years ago consecutively!!@@AaliyahCapili
I am so glad you can get into one of the greatest songs ever.
🥰
When David's guitar cries, I do, too.
Born in 1950 so I went through the sixties and seventies and I am very familiar with pink floyd. The only thing I can say is that with your opera background you have been very fortunate to listen to a very good if not the best solo guitar play there has ever been. Kudos
Thanks so much for taking the time to share, much appreciated♥️♥️♥️
