Elvis nails this song. He wasn't just the greatest singer of all time, he performed the song, made it come alive. He put his all into this song. Phenomenal.

Elvis is fantastic but he is not the Greatest singer of all time I mean Freddie Mercury is also considered the greatest singer of all time the truth is artists like Freddie and Elvis share a pedestal and deserve to be considered the greatest.

Elvis really is above and beyond any artist of today . It goes without saying how naturally talented he was, gorgeous and a beautiful generous soul and it exuded from every pore of his being. He will never be surpassed.

When we say today are we including artists like Freddie Mercury because I'm not saying hes better but Freddie could match Elvis in every way Charisma, Presence and singing talent I mean during Live Aid obviously Elvis no doubt was a huge inspiration to Freddie but he played on of his songs and performed it perfectly and that was with a bad throat.

@@samuel10125Elvis greater than Freddie. His voice Range is truly unique. It’s impossible to auto tune Elvis’s voice but someone auto tuned Freddie’s voice. Freddy is great! No doubt about it but he’s not Elvis!

He blows every other singer away because of how much feeling he put into the song. He didn't just sing it, he lived and breathed it. That why his songs make us feel alive, and that is why it is so magical to watch him sing them.

Elvis grew up in the church & specifically in a black church that was near his home which welcomed hiim & his mother..
gospel music was his absolute favorite & he had the largest collection of gospel music in america at one time...
the network was opposed to his doing this song but he had so much respect & admiration for dr. king & took inspiration from him he stood his ground & basically said no song.. no special..
the infulence of his church upbringing is so up front in this performance & he literally did take us to church with this
Thank you for sharing such an honest & heart touching reaction with us
check out his performance of how great thou art the best video version is of him in a blue jumpsuit from 1972

Been a massive Elvis fan since I first was shocked by his amazing vocals on the radio back in the early 70s as a kid. Believe me there was nothing like Elvis back in the day or as magical as Elvis back in the day and all these years later as much as I love so many great artists, there is nothing like Elvis even today. That great man is so special and is on another level in everyway. Just a very special human being, vocally, looks, moves, charisma, humility, authenticity, cool, he had it all in spades full on another level. And the world still loves him...we won't see his like again!

Elvis greatest voice ever to sing.. Elvis never wrote his own songs, but what he did do was sing / arrange the 770+ songs he sang making them better then the original. Elvis's voice got even better and stronger up to the day he died. Watch Elvis sing Hurt / How Great Tho Art / Unchained Melody from his last Concert 1977 filmed just 6 weeks before he died.. The Power in his voice even tho his body was failing him the voice grew stronger

This was Elvis's Powerful and Heartfelt Tribute to Dr Martin Luther King Jr, after his Assasination in Memphis Tennessee in 1968. It was based on the message of MLK's I Have A Dream Speech.
it was also Dedicated to Senator Robert F Kennedy who was also Murdered that same Year. It was the Closing Song of the 68 Comeback Special.

Awesome reaction! Yes Elvis believed in and felt every word in this song. According to the documentary "This Is Elvis" - he was usually not a fan of "messages" but this was 1968 - and after the assassination of then presidential candidate Robert Kennedy, and the assassination of Martin Luther King just weeks before, and the anti war riots - he felt he wanted to end this television special with this song which was relevant to what was happening in America at that time. Note - this NBC Elvis TV special (later renamed The '68 Comeback Special) was the most watched event of 1968! You have great taste in music! God bless you!

Elvis’ voice was pure, natural, God giving talent, that did not require electronic help.
This performance of this song,, he was singing his heart out to Americans after what then was considered the most turbulent years in American history. 5:35 5:35
It was after the assignation of 2 of Americas beloved servants, Martin Luther King Jr. & Bobby Kennedy.
But this was also in a different time in America when celebrities had patriotic hearts.

The big difference between artists of say Elvis's days the 60s and today's artists is that men and women like Elvis had to be great. Were great.
Today's singers can be made great. Today there is all kinds of auto tune and other kinds of electronic wizardry that makes artists sound awesome
Back in the 60s Elvis,Bobby Hatfield,Dusty Springfield,Tom Jones etc etc they brought a mike and and just devastated the place with their voice
because they were that good and there was no auto tune or electronic wizardry you were listening to true talent on the stage. This is why today you
really don't have the awesomeness you once had. Sure you have a few great singers Dimash,Lara,Aida.etc etc but they are not as rampant as they
    were say 60 years ago.

He sang this only twice, that night. This is a combination of those performances. He never sang it again because it just took too much out of him, emotionally. It was in honor of his friends, Robert F. Kennedy who was assassinated not long before this was filmed, and Martin Luther King Jr., who was assassinated earlier in the year.

New subscriber here you are so adorable. I love your reactions towards Elvis I'm 62 years old My dad was a big Elvis fan so I was brought up with that. I think you would probably fall more in love with Elvis if you watched some of his documentaries to understand him more. And the latest Elvis movie with Austin Butler was pretty much spot on. He's a beautiful man inside and out. You captured my heart by your reaction to Elvis. Keep up the good work I'm starting with your latest ones and working up to your newest ones. God bless you.
