ELVIS charming and humorous, authentic and sincere to the press conference in June 1972 when he was sure great performances at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Elvis Presley has opinions yet he doesn't talk about it publicly, that is pure class.
yes. far cry from today where everyone tweets a bowel movement now

Can't believe how funny, witty yet humble he was!! The way he spoke, like he was one of your friends..so personable! Had no air around him. Love you Elvis always and forever.
He really comes across like a dude you could just have a beer with
That smile, those teeth, those cheekbones, thst chuckle, those eyes. OMG. It's Elvis.
He was so beautiful not only physically but in his humbleness. There were and today are great entertainers, but no one who totally embodies the beauty, talent and graciousness of Elvis Presley.
He will long be remembered and missed.
It sure is 💕💋
An extremely humble, good-natured guy with incredible talent and the person concerned with cheeks.
RIP Elvis.. didn't know you were such a humble and funny person 😂 I really admire it. You passed before I was born wish I was alive during your time to experience Elvis the King of Rock and Roll 🎸
He wasn’t hard to look at
“ It’s very hard to live up to an image …” how true are his words
Right off, er ah, on!!!!!!!
Man, I teared up when he talked about wanting to go to other countries. I wonder how much he knew about how Tom Parker turned those opportunities down for Elvis because he himself was here illegally and couldn’t travel abroad without getting caught. Elvis should have ditched CTP when he got back from the army. There’s no telling what he could have done with a manager who truly cared about his business interests and didn’t use him as a cash cow. But you can see in interviews what a kind, humble, and generous man he was. His big heart and loyalty to Tom would never have allowed him to do what needed to be done. He was such a victim of his own success and surrounded by Yes men who were unwilling or unable to tell Elvis the truth about so many things in his life. So sad to think about what could have been.
yes me too. so so sad..... what the heck happened man....
Ditto totally agree, Elvis could have done so much more ,col Parker stopped him, you can see in his eyes the sadness in his eyes when the question about travel is mentioned!and he was very humble The King forever 🤩❤😎
Agreed…
The sad thing was the only person who he needed to say yes (Tom Parker) would never let him do the art he wanted. Couldn’t your over seas, forced to do crappy movies he hated, wasn’t allowed to do a star is born etc. only guy who ever told E no
@@antoniettemusolino1317 o
So many stupid questions he had to answer.. what a beautiful soul he was..
I totally agree
Reporters then and now still ask stupid questions
Exactly, reporters haven't changed much, still asking stupid questions.
Yea the same reporting WOMAN that asks him about "womans liberation" is the same WOMAN that told him to "get up and giggle" in the first half of the interview! Hmmmmmm the irony! This is in 1972 no less when women had absolutely no rights either! Lol Yea the media hasn't always had an agenda!
Avoiding social comments is the smartest thing that a person or entertainer that sells a product “musical recordings” can do. They don’t end up Alienating half their audience with some stupid remark, therefore not slicing their record sales in half. Like a lot of entertainers do today!
“Can’t criticize another entertainer”. Takes a wiseman to know this. Elvis 🕺 ❤️
I like the way Elvis smartly avoided answering political questions, saying he's just an entertainer and keeps his political views to himself, but respected others for their opinions. Elvis had class. That's extremely rare these days. So many entertainers contributing to the divisiveness in our nation today.
I immediately stopped the video and went to the comments at that point. You beat me to it. Well said. He handled that very graciously. Back to the video. :)
True but in fairness they're not given much choice. If they don't have a political opinion they are criticised. If they do have one they are attacked.
Totally agree. All so called entertainers today always gotta spew their political correct opinions any chance they get
@@onkelmorra87 True, and they stupidly lose many fans because of it.
@Johnny NotEnglish Your using the idea of one having visited or lived in NYC as a qualification for worldly awareness is a joke in itself. Trust me, NYC is not exactly the land of the smartest people, whether back in the 1970's or today. It's "sheep" people central.
Elvis seems much nicer than he’s given credit for nowadays. He truly seems larger than life. So much charisma.
He was meek and sweet. Not an act.
He was a southern gentleman.
What a lovely, polite almost shy gentleman. Very diplomatic. Very good looking, great singer / entertainer. Dam, he was the whole package. There will never be another like Elvis.
Absolutely 💖
he doesn't seem shy but extroverted, charismatic and authentic in his way of speaking and carrying himself...just my opinion
💯
@@shashmi87 He suffered atrocious stage fright, though.
He handled himself with great poise and professionalism, always.

Southern charm, yes ma'am, thank you dear. It's charismatic and a very powerful thing when you do it naturally, sincerely and gracefully the way he did. The force was strong with this one.
Sincerely? There’s a lot of things you can say out him but SINCERITY? Got me rolling
Umm force..?
Jayramsey . . Thats the way our parents raised us , im born and raised in memphis . . Saw E many times at graceland and arround town . . He recorded some hit songs downtown at American Studios on north thomas back in early 70s , that studio is a legend . . Torn down now sadly
I was born in KY. Raised in Ohio, but all my family was from KY. We visited them down there often. When I talk, I call people Honey and Sweetheart. Some people don't understand it, or think I'm fake or something. My way of talking just flows off my tongue, because I heard it alot growing up. I was brought up to care about others and how I make them feel. Thats why I speak the way I do.
So bizarre, and it feels ridiculous, but as a 30 y/o English man having watched a biopic on this man and gone down a rabbit hole of his live performances and interviews, I feel so upset at all he wasn't able to do for himself, and so grateful for what he was able to do for us.
Rest in peace King.
Not bizarre at all I did the same thing after watching the movie twice 😊
It’s a great rabbit hole, it never ends… . enjoy
So beautifully worded. Great comment.
how mannered and polite he is , comparatively to present celebrities .
Thank you for your post. Yes Elvis was very respectful of people and the planetary status made him in no way disdainful and haughty, what at present remains rather rare. Good day. Elvis forever.
He was a true Southern Gentleman
A role model of beauty, humbleness and respect.
RIP SUPERSTAR
Most celebrities can't go a day without pushing their agenda. Elvis knew the boundaries between entertainer and activist. He knew the 2 didn't mesh. The true nature of entertainment is that fans are gained based on his performance, not for what political stances he holds.
@Koletti Pireaus Why don't you pay more attention to the press conference? So to clean up after your butchering of the context, here it is. When asked if he thought other entertainers should keep their political views to themselves, he said "No... I can't even say that." Why didn't you put that part in, you pathetic little cherry picker? If you're going to come at me, USE THE WHOLE QUOTE!!! Because if you don't, I am going to come back and call you out for the moron that you are. He wasn't saying that they shouldn't keep their political views to themselves. He was saying that he refused to comment on the issue! He was dodging the question, not answering the question specifically. Maybe if you spent less time trying to insult strangers and more time actually working on your comprehension, you'd be a more valued contributor to society. Just saying. We don't need anymore arrogant, entitled, chest thumping Americans. Be the change.
Intelligent, classy, respectfull, handsome man.

To me, Elvis was the type of man that realized and knew he had massive and unequaled talent yet
at the same time never forgot where he came from . Such a rare combination. The man was really
extraordinary in so many ways. Long live Elvis !
Boy I really respect his answers that he won’t comment on social issue or politics. he says he’s just an entertainer and doesn’t comment on things like that. A lot of people need to follow his lead today.
No arrogance at all about him, he was just humble.,
really impressive the interview
Yes, He had a Statue as a King. ❤️🌹❤️ I beg Your pardon..... 🙋🏻♀️🧑🏻
He was a good man for sure.
Humble here, not humble when ranking out and belittling members of the Memphis Mafia for his own amusement to the point where they cry. Elvis' shit talking and mockery game were on point to where grown men would cry. He wasn't humble when screaming at them either, blaming them for his life problems, for his career taking a downward turn, for letting him do the movies, for making him a sex addict and a junkie who couldn't satisfy his wife who he desperately wanted back when the reality was that he neglected his wife emotionally and physically to have threesomes and all out orgies with strange women. I love Elvis for his complexity. This is all showbiz. At heart a good man, but a spoiled brat some of the time too.

The Memphis Mafia were leeches that used Elvis for money. They change up their stories every time I hear from them.
Anyone who knew Elvis has said he was was wonderful human being!
My grandpa knows a pastor who was a personal friend of Elvis! He said Elvis was very humble, kind to everyone, and the extent of his generosity was incredible.
He said that Elvis was the most perfect person he’d ever met in his life!
He said that Elvis really was THAT nice.

Hi Don, thank you very much for your comment. Yes Elvis was an unique artist. Its voice, its smile and its charisma will stay in our hearts for ever. Good week to you.
elvisgrace77 Yes thank you for your response back in the 70's I was in my 20's and was an Elvis fanatic I drove a black and gold 1955 chevy and all I listened to was Elvis and my future ex got tired of hearing Elvis all the time. As Rudolph Valentino was to people in the 1920's Elvis was to us in our time era.I love Elvis but got tired of all the Elvis want to be's. The only one I thought that even came close to Elvis was Johnny Harra. I was watching him on t.v. and I actually thought it was Elvis until after one of his numbers he said he was not trying to be Elvis but just trying to keep his memory alive
Don Dressel Yes, there will remain an unique artist of part his voice, his charisma and certainly his physical appearance, all unequalled and incomparable for ever... Elvis forever...

How does someone come off as so humble AND so incredibly cool at the exact same time? Elvis was so, so cool.
Elvis was So Charming, Polite, Funny, Mild Mannered, a Hunk of a Handsome Man. That's more a case of not wanting to offend anyone imo. No matter what his views were, they would inevitably offend those with the opposite view. I wouldn't care. I would answer it and wouldn't care who it offends. But that's why I'm a nobody and he was Elvis Presley.
I had never seen an Elvis interview before, just heard his music. I recently saw a documentary on Netflix about him and became curious about his personality. I never knew how polite and soft spoken he was. He was funny, well-mannered and respectful and knew how to dodge some of those stupid leading questions with grace. Just makes me like him that much more although he must have been a difficult person in his private life. Still the same, for the fans he was an example of respectfulness and dignity.
Watch the new movie. It's GREAT!!!!
What makes you think he ‘must’ have been a difficult person in his private life? All the accounts from the people around him after he died say otherwise.
I've seen all of his interviews! I loved that man!
Wait, which rock did you crawl out from?
Elvis was one of a kind. They don't make them like the King anymore.
There will never be another Elvis. So humble, respectful, polite.
He seemed down to earth here, I'm surprised for someone as famous as he was that he really didn't act like a show off
Lana Del Slay Lana is queen
He rember where he came from
Joe and other members of the Memphis Mafia said he always treated everyone the same. The lowest maid or cook to the most famous movie star got the same treatment. Joe said, "because of that, we learned to treat everyone with respect as well."

Humorous, humble, warm hearted, a gentleman...a king. There's so much to love about Elvis. Yes, he made his mistakes. But, he never made excuses and never exploited or blamed anyone. "Honey, I just soon to keep personal opinions to myself. I'm just an entertainer, and I'd rather not say."
Can every entertainer, athlete, or whatever take a moment of this wisdom by The King? Damn.
He loved his family so much. His parents always lived with him at Graceland, so did his grandma. It's so sweet that he brought his daddy on stage with him at the press conference here. So different from the kids today who can't wait to get away from their parents or buy their parents a house so they don't live with them. His whole family worked for him....his step-brothers and cousins worked for him as bodyguards and assistants. He took care of everyone, he was so generous. He even bought his cook a house and several cars!

Liked that he said that.
Being a 29 year old male who has grew up listening to watching and reading about this fascinating person I really do think he deserves all if not more credit then he receives. He changed not just the way music was addressed but also broke barriers that made the world a much more social place. Just hard to understand how someone could have the power to change so many life's yet couldn't get a grip on his own life. He will always be 1 of this planets true gems. R.I.P sir
Because it’s hard to please people. People never know when enough is enough from a entertainer, and for him to die on the toilet with 35 pounds worth of shit found in his body during is autopsy, shows that the man did anything to please others, but others really don’t give af about him, and that’s just the truth, they use him for their own good. Listen to the lady “what do you think about women’s liberation” like wtf?! Ask the president that like wtf?! People just want to use him for their benefit. That’s just human nature and human life though. See how many people wanted a piece of him, see how many pills the man was taking just to make it through the day to keep his reputation? He was a people pleaser. And it’s no brainer why he couldn’t save his own life because he really couldn’t trust nobody, he had a reputation that if he was seen in the state that he was in, he would probably be laughed at by others, and his awesome reputation would have been on the line. You know what I mean?

Good answer to the political question. I am just an entertainer...
And was a greater entertainer than we have today!!!
Simply the best!
so pure
What a respectable man..
@@johnheinrich1718 You can appreciate artist without putting down current and future generations, the putting down of Proceeding generations that every single generation has done for decades is disgusting. Every generation has its greats. Pretty soon my generation is gonna be putting down the next generation, I just think that historic reoccurring trend is kinda damaging.
My, he was absolutely gorgeous! and a lovely way about him. 😍😍
Elvis here at 37 years old and would die 5 years later in 1977 RIP E
What a man.. The ultimate Legend.
not one fake bone in his gorgeous body.
Absolutely, right!

Don't get me wrong, I love Elvis but he isn't a God, you know lol.

wow elvis is so well mannered well spoken and doesn't act high mighty like today's untalented singer's.
I love this interview. He's such a kind, warm, human being, that gave so much of himself to entertain the world. It's sad that everything and everyone around him was more about putting him through a dog and pony show, and manipulated his life, especially Parker.
Even He was so popular in this time of interview, He was gentle polite to answer most of the question with a very good actitud. .. such a King!
