Thanks so much. There were so many kind things he did for people in spite of the mean rumors. You need to watch "Elvis Presley King of Kindness". He had a magic about him, I saw him twice in concert and never got over him. There are so many songs and movies over his 23 year career. You are a great reactor, be blessed.

You just witnessed an iconic performer, an iconic sound, an iconic suit.. This is Elvis --'60's. Another iconic jaw dropping performance. Another one is when he does Stuck On You in ;60 or'61, just out of the Army. Would you react to that one. I mean the man just touches his chin and THEY GO WILD. There's two American iconic images that has been created. Elvis could only be Elvis and he created that image. Marilyn Monroe created another iconic image that Marilyn could only be Marilyn. Elvis often wandered why he WAS THE CHOSEN ONE to be Elvis and to set the stage for the future. That's why these two will last another 100 years. By the WAY EVERYONE is still chasing ELVIS!!!! Thank you, thank you very much!!!!

I believe that Lola was singing her appreciation to Elvis. And to imagine - he was extremely nervous heading into this special. He felt he had been away from live performances too long (true) and that people would have forgotten him (false). Over the next two years, he only gains in confidence in his vocals and performances. By the time of the filming of concert movie (That's The Way It Is) which documents his second set of Vegas shows in 1970, he is lean, energetic performer - matured to the point of being fully in control of his vocals and dynamic physical performance (though - as the movie captures, he has some pre-opening night jitters before hitting the stage). His live shows are full of spontaneity and humor as well as even more sophisticated singing, with a dynamic control that is otherworldly.

I think 68-71 were prime years for Elvis. In the 50's his voice was a little bit higher ( he was also a very young man ....21 in 1956) but by 68 his voice had matured. He was fit, confident and sounded better than ever.

The thing that's missing today is the performance. We have great singers today but Elvis was more that just a singer, he was a performer. And if you don't know what a performer is look it up in the dictionary and you'll find a picture of Elvis! You might also see his picture under the word KING!😎😎

I appreciate your fun watching these Elvis videos. With all you see and hear in these, you can't see/hear what music was like in the normalcy of the 1950's. It would blow your mind to appreciate how alien Elvis was with the music and physicalness he projected at that point in time. Singers didn't shout, did not gyrate their bodies and did not let loose like Elvis did. Our parents were in shock. Younger people thought; well, this is interesting. See if you can find singers and their sounds in the U.S. at this point in time. I'm thinking "How Much is that Doggie In the Window" by Pattie Page. Also, the Andrews Sisters, Bugle Boy from Company B. Music was conservative and body language was polite and restrained. Elvis opened Pandora's box, he was a wrecking ball to everything that defined good taste in music and performing. Just thought you might like the perspective of someone who lived through this period.

Fun fact about "Heartbreak Hotel". It was a #1 song. One of the co-writers, Mae Axton, had a son named Hoyt Axton. He was a singer and songwriter and wrote a song for the 70s band Three Dog Night called "Joy to the World". They are the only mother and son to have had #1 songs .
