      💥THE GIRL WHO LISTENED TO RUSH💥

    *No Bigger Rush Fan Than Me On The Planet (I'm Sure Millions Feel The Same Way About Themselves) & This Was The Track That Hooked Its Canadian Teeth Into Me In 1981. I Was A Little Familiar With PW (1980), But Tom Sawyer/Moving Pictures Immediately Obsessed Me To Consume All 7 Studio Albums That Preceded This One. 43 Years & 33 Concerts Later, I Still Believe It's The Greatest Song & Album They've Created. In My Opinion, They Were At Their Apex; Musical Complexity (Pre MIDI) & Musical/Lyrical Talent - Especially The Sound Of Pratt's Cherry-Wine Tama Kit & Percussion Ensemble Which Began Changing On Their Next LP, Signals (1982). Maybe It's My Bias Because 1981 Is When I Became A RUSHian Citizen, But Tom Sawyer May Be The Greatest Hard Rock Tune Of All-Time. Thank-You For Putting This Together. ☆*

    What is Rush known for? (1) Musical integrity, after three records company asks for radio hits and they deliver a 20 minuted power/prog masterpiece in 2112. (2) Masterful skills and musicianship which is obvious. (3) Intelligent thoughtful and deep lyrics, no simplistic rock/pop songs here (4) Musical Change Ups: Rush changes with the decade, whatever they wanted to do (5) 40 years of quality work from three friends (RIP Neil)

    This was the album they were making when we were playing in the park and heard music coming from the factories and we climbed on the dumpsters to watch in the window and saw them rocking out making the most impressive sounds we had ever heard . They saw us and came out and talked to us about hockey ( cause that's what we Canadians do 😂) we talked about the music they were making and their cars they had beautiful cars and when we were done Geddy and Alex gave us guitar picks and Neil gave us drumsticks they were so down to earth and humble. When I was older I saw them twice I had to meeting them and watching them record made me want to see them. Peace out ✌️ ☮️

    I live 15 minutes from that place. I have a few pieces of broken glass from that giant glass separation between where they are and the mixing console, you can see it right behind Alex. I also have some pieces of parquetry flooring exactly from where Neil's drums are sitting in this video, and some cedar shingles from the exterior siding that you see at the very end of the video. So glad I have these artifacts of rock'n roll history.

    LeStudio was in the middle of the woods in Quebec. It was state of the art when this song was recorded. There were on site living quarters so bands could go there to record and use it as a retreat and rest up and recharge in between tours. April Wine also did some recording there.
    It became out dated and there was a fire that burned part of the complex and it was abandoned and vandalized over the years.
    The mixing board actually was sold before the fire and ended up being used in a recording studio in the Chicago area for many years.
    There are actually some pretty interesting UA-cam videos about LeStudio.

    You need to see the Best Live Performance of all time
    RUSH - Xanadu - Live In Montreal 1981 (2021 HD Remaster 60fps)
    Alex Lifeson - 6 string guitar, 12 string guitar, pedal synthesizer, volume pedal;
    Geddy Lee - Vocals, bass guitar, 6 string guitar, foot pedal synthesizer, electric piano/synthesizer;
    Neil Peart - Lyrics, Drums, orchestra bells, tubular bells, wind chimes, crotales, timbales, timpani, gong, temple blocks, bell tree, triangle, and melodic cowbells.
    Based on Kubla Khan (Xanadu) by Samuel Taylor Coleridge Coleridge composed his poem, ‘Kubla Khan’, in a state of semi-conscious trance either in the autumn of 1797 or the spring of 1798 and published in 1816. The whole poem is pervaded by an atmosphere of dream and remains in the form of a vision. The vision embodied in Kubla Khan was inspired by the perusal of the travel book, Purchas His Pilgrimage. Coleridge had taken a dose of opium as an anodyne, and his eyes closed upon the line in the book, “At Zanadu Kubla Khan built a pleasure palace.” But this opened his creative vision, and the poem of about 200 lines was composed in this state of waking dream. On being fully awake, he wrote the poem down. The theme of the poem is unimportant. It describes the palace built by Kubla Khan, the grandson of Chengis Khan, the great rule of central Asia.

    The movie Waterboy with Adam Sandler used this song too! Just an FYI.. Another all time favorite is “Limelight”..I love the German Shepherd shot at the beginning of the video.. I recommend that song as your next reaction video! FYI..They were at Le Studio in Quebec Canada..

    The studio is in the province of Quebec, and it's simply called, Le Studio. It's north of Montreal, in a location called, Morin Heights. Many artists you may know have recorded there... Cat Stevens, Ritchie Havens, Chicago, The Police, the Bee Gees, Sting, Corey Hart, David Bowie, and many more!

    That studio is about an hour north of montreal, in Morin Heights. It's beautiful there, they have a nice little ski hill and the best looking women in Quebec.

    Also, Geddy is considered The BEST BASS guitarist, ever and to date,, As for Alex, you are absolutely correct, he is in a world and league all his own, and others to emulate. RUSH, people place Triumph, as a very close 2nd to RUSH. But RUSH set the bar for other bands to escalate to achieve. Tom Sawyer was recorded at Le Studio, Morin-Heights, Quebec, Canada.

    Yes. Start with Tom Sawyer, like you would start learning about Yes with “Roundabout”.
    Perhaps Limelight or Spirit of Radio next.

    You guys would have a blast with a cover done by NYC looney-tunes Mindless Self Indulgence:
    For when you want the total "Tom Sawyer" experience but you're in a rush (d'oh!). It's the whole song in half the time plus a generous helping of Tourette's Syndrome.

    I played this album to death when it came out. My favourite is Limelight but this rocks too. Back in 1981 I was in early high school in Mississauga Ontario, same hometown as Geddy. You're right, all RUSH songs are fantastic.

    You should show Ryan Niel Peart's drum solo live in Frankfurt. The thing that Ryan doesn't understand with prog rock is that these bands are famous for their musicianship, not their clothing image. Bands like Kiss are known for their make up not their musical prowess. Bands like Pink Floyd, Yes and Rush are loved for their music, not their fashion sense. The money they earn is not why they do it. Money is an incidental by-product of what they do and they earn that money by working damn hard to perfect their art, not by dressing in designer clothing and learning dance routines. Believe me, I've been a drummer in rock bands for over 50 years and I know how much work goes into perfecting every little detail and going over the same song over and over until you're either sick of it, your hands are bleeding or you collapse. ✌️♥️🇬🇧

    I love Rush, and I love this song, but for me their greatest masterpiece is " La Villa Strangiato" another instrumental, based on some nightmares that Alex Lifeson had

  • @smilerpink
    @smilerpink Рік тому +2

    All 3 are at least in the GOAT conversations on their instruments. But, that is just the starting point for Rush. Their three way musical mind meld redefined the term “tight.” For all their individual virtuosity, their music is incredibly restrained. There is no attention hogging diva in any of these three guys.
    As great as all three are, the one that blows me away the most is Geddy Lee. Sings, plays a ripping bass, synths with hands AND FEET. Probably the one guy most responsible for three sounding like five or six.

    Keeping it Canadian...im going to suggest some current bands with a retro sound..that i think u will dig.
    The Trews- hold me in your arms, So she's Leaving , Not Ready to Go
    Monster Truck- True Rocker , Dont tell me how to live, Sweet Mountain River
    Glorious Sons- Heavy, S.O.S (sawed off shotgun), Godless Graceless and Young
    The Sheepdogs- The way it is, I dont know, feeling good
    Sloan- The Good in Every one, Losing California, Money City Maniacs

    That keyboard part leading into the solo, then Alex doubles it. Next Alex leaves to solo but Geddy fills right in on the bass with the same 7/8 pattern. Epically crafted song writing!

    Neil Peart’s double bass drum kit.. nobody see’s how fast the foot pedals are going off when you watch this band but you definitely hear it.. you wonder… “How’s he doing this sound”? That was always fun to watch his solo’s in concert.. so this is what a feel good jam looks like! 🥰😊😁
