Dude, the bandana was such a great idea! These other videos I watched never mentioned it! 💀 I been cutting my own hair for a month now (1 on top, 0 on sides) just to keep it basic, but I wanna work up to a fade. Defenitly gonna give this method a shot next time!
Glad to see someone using a trimmer all I have don't have a step attachment ti make it easier. Had one but moved and left it. On the other side of the world. Didn't hear you start with just the trimmer no attachment then go to a 2 3 or 4 for final stage and use the smallest attachment to blend.
@@bigacefilms This popped up on my UA-cam feed again, and I re-read it. I'm sorry if I came across as critical of your video. I did not mean it to be that way. I think you did a great job with your self-haircut, and it looks good. I like it.
@@rjcarter2904 haha thanks buddy, no worries I’ve gotten much worse on this. You left a great comment, always appreciate feedback good or bad. Helps me to grow and be better
A towel...???? Where do you get a towel nip this video??? He used a bandana! Big difference. You couldn't even use a towel to help you get a circle around your head , it would be WAY too big! Seems to me that's common sense,..smh
You did a great job I really hope I can get this done on my husband 😫I bought the babyliss pro clipper, trimmer and shaver almost $400 I REALLY REALLY hope I can get it done or he will hate me lol
I'd like to have you give me a recon style haircut, with it cut about an 1/8 inch on top, and the back and sides shaved up high and close to the skin,a proper recon style haircut, very military looking. Change that to a #1 guard on top and then use the clippers on the back and sides cutting them as close as possible.
Im a 15 yr old, My Dad Never Occurred To Teach Me How To Self cut My Own Hair Or Which He Never Had The Opportunity To, So Looking At Ur Tutorial Makes Me wanna Give It a Try Im Just Afraid I Might Mess Up (also can you write how many millimetres on The Machine You Used For An Example Like Side, Top, And You Know 😂)
Hey! Glad you found this video. It’s always fun to try something new like this. It will take a few times but with practice you’ll find a style that fits you! I usually use the highest mm on the top (or I’ll leave the length on the top). I start with higher mm first on the sides after the initial line. Usually a 5-7 then work my way down to 4, 2 and last I use a 1mm to fade it. You can skip mm levels. You don’t have to go in order if you don’t want. Make it easy on yourself and see what works best on your hair. Hope this helps!
It takes practice! I went around with a shaved head for awhile. Once it is shaved though it’s harder to make mistakes on it after a week because you can’t see them as bad and it gives you practice at that length to make a fade. Don’t give up!
@@bigacefilms Thank you sir. I'll try again next week. and please give me some advice. How many centimeters is the top? How can I get a good trim between the sides and the top?
I understand completely. I have been a barber for almost 50 years. I only charge $20 and have a reputation as a no nonsense barber and did time in the Marines.
Perhaps you could post the military instructions for every branch on grooming standards, and post a video yourself on the proper cut explaining it in detail? That would assist greatly. Thanks for the feedback!
*YOUR FADE AT SIDES OF HEAD IS JUST ALL ONE SIZE/DEPTH. THATS NOT FADING. THATS JUST SHAVING YOUR HEAD WITH ONE SIZE NUMBER DUDE. FADING IS 2-3 NUMBER ATTACHMENTS, EVER SO SUBTLE CHANGING.*
You are right, however this cut works for me perfectly for military standards. It should also work for anyone else looking for a do it yourself/save money cut. I’m no barber and haven’t stepped foot in a shop for over 8 years. I appreciate your feedback about the correct terminology and fading. I would not have known that.
Always shave it off and start over in a week. It takes time. I had to keep it short for about two months because my fades were bad and it always looked weird.

A bandana! Great idea. I was using a piece of para cord which moves around way to easily. Mine turned out ok. Thank you!
Heck yeah. Bandana or piece of cloth works great for this. You’ve got talent making that para chord work for you haha!

Nice video, and you did a good job on the fade. I prefer a #2 or 1 for the top so there is not such long hair left on top.
Thank you!

Bro national hero. I mean you did a good job with what you had but not gonna lie it can't fully replace a saloon cut. 😊 I will try on my husband thoug
Haha thank you 😂! Yes a saloon cut always looks professional.
Putting a towel around your head is a great idea. I think I'll try it out next time

Excellent! Thanks

Thanks! It will take time. Doesn’t always work out on the first or second try. If you mess up so bad you’ll have a bald man for a week lol.
I prefer a modified short flat top on the top. Instead of straight up side I like to round the edge a little
I tried flat tops but the grain of the hair is the key part that screwed me over.
Ingenious! I'm trying this today. Thanks!
Haha I wish you the best luck. Be patient if it doesn’t work out the first time!

There is a reason why barbers like myself go to school to learn how to cut hair, as this video shows it's not as easy as it looks.
Yup, had tried it and decided to grow it out
I understand completely. I have been a barber for almost 50 years. I only charge $20 and have a reputation as a no nonsense barber and did time in the Marines.
Worked.
Good haircut!
Thank you!
Why doesn’t mine look like that 😢
Keep up and keep practicing. It took me years to perfect different styles of fades and make it decent. It is a skill to acquire. 👍🏻💪
What style is it now?
In between a military high fade and medium fade.
What style u haveing next ?
@@dannyhardwick7623 I’m not sure, I never really though about doing another video on another style. I can if people would like one
Yes please as it amazing to learn how to do different styles .
PX/BX/NEX special lol not bad though.
😂 i appreciate it!
the only thing bad about cutting your own hair is the hair goes allover the place .
😂😂 yes it does. Better to lean over a sink or put a cloth around your shoulders. I usually do it with shorts on and shower after
@@bigacefilms also cutting the hair on the back of your head is easer said then done
I stand on a flat towel and then scoop it up and chuck it outside or in the trash.
If you ever get a hair cut on a base, you might as well cut your own hair.
Facts
Fck that I rather go to super cuts lol
Not having to spend over 20 bucks a haircut and tipping feels great.
