Do you think that you could give me a haircut, a recon style haircut with the top cut an 1/8 inch, and the back and sides shaved up high and close to the skin?
My issue is I wear glasses. Trying to get close around my ears and back of my head. Depth perception gets a bit tricky. Do you have any advice for me to use?
Im a doctor in a remote village in India and your video has been so useful! The most important tip was following the grain of the hair on the top. I use a 3 on top and 1 fading in on the sides and back. You are an absolute star. God bless you
I bought myself a pair of clippers online the other day and followed your tutorial to the tee and it turned out really great. i didnt have a mirror setup so i had my brother watch the video with me and he did the back part for me. this man doing God's work right here
I've been cutting my own hair for about 10 years now. Never got a consistently decent cut from those national chain haircutters, so decided I could screw it up myself and save some money. Turns out it's not that difficult. I got some tips from watching your video that will give me even better results. Thanks.
First my father, and now my mother, have been cutting my hair for the last 20+ years! Have been slowly evolving my style, and with that, I decided that i finally want to be a big boy, and learn to do it myself! Watched a few videos before this one, but this one has been by far the best and what i've primarily what i've been looking for. Thank you sir, and wish me luck!
It's perfect for people like myself who aren't really bothered too much about their appearance but want to stay clear of having hair like a Lego figure.
Awesome video. Thank you. My 10yr old son desperately needed a haircut and money has been tight. I used your method and it turned out great! Super quick too. Now I can add amateur barber to my Mom skills 👍
I've only had two store-bought haircuts in my life and I'm 76. My first haircut was when I was too young to remember it, but my father said he would never take me back to the barber because I screamed and embarrassed him. Because there were four of us brothers, Dad bought a pair of mechanical hand clippers first. Later he bought an electric set which he used to cut us boy's hair for years. When I was about to graduate from high school I decided I needed a professional haircut for graduation. The barber made so much fun of my hair being like 'Hog Hair' like the people who lived down in the poor area had. I paid him a quarter and left. And I've never been back to a barber shop since. For the last 58 years, I've cut my own hair. Hair cuts have gone from a quarter per head to twenty and thirty dollars a head... I've saved some real money over the years... And... Truth be told, there are only a couple of days between a bad cut and a good look that's grown out to hide the mistakes... So... Yeah... You can cut your own hair... I've done it... For decades...
I do that before this video. Woohoo. Female here. Had brain surgery in 2018. During covid got the clippers out and shaved right side of head in celebration of no more regrowth of benign tumors. Im a sassy senior pushing 70. My left side is a wave of grey infused black curls. I cut that by twirling pin curl style. As a kid thats how i curled my hair twirling hair within a hair pin. So the back of head and right side are shaved. CPAP fits better and doesn't pull on hair. Thank you for the video and reinforcing my technique! 🎉Cheers from California.
I've been diagnosed with 2 forms of cancer AND a meningioma(sp?) that is growing. I've already met with a brain surgeon and aren't eager to let him crack open my bean just yet. I've only had 1 seizure, a year ago, in the middle of chemo and radiation treatments. Aint skeert ~ yet. Good to see you're doing well!❤
These two comments worked as a reminder that there are way lot tougher people than me. I often whined about my chronic illnesses but people like you work as a medium to strengthen my hope and reason to not give up on life. Thank you, you two 😇🤲😊
I've been cutting my own hair for many years and always did "just okay" with the length on top... so today, I tried your method with a #4 guard, and it worked wonderfully well... simple and effective. Thanks for the advice.
Cheers to all the barbers that are left with us, my two barbers both died in the last two years, one from tobacco and then the owner from COVID. This is now my #1 haircut technique, beats the other UA-cam techniques, much faster, and less flat head look.
same here! the top of the head was always a head scratcher for me and is what deterred me from cutting my own hair. after seeing this video I was able to cut my hair for the first time in my life... thank you so much, I not only feel so much more confident with myself but I look better too!@@theoneminutebarber
I im cutting my own hair for 25 years. Started doing this as an immigrant who couldn't afford hair saloon in UK. The only difference i go against the hair on the top. Works as well. 👍
Grrreat, no-nonsense video!! I brought a pair of old 2nd hand Wahl home-cut clippers and 3 guides, at a car boot sale, for the knockdown price of 25p, and have been cutting my own hair ever since... ever since... wait for this... ever since 1995 🤣
Spot on tutorial. My wife bought me some clippers at the start of COVID and I have cut my own hair since. Im not too worried what the back looks like but nobody has ever passed any comment? Spent £20 before christmas on a haircut but it didnt look as good as my DIY effort so will not do that again. They say the difference between a really good haircut and a bad one ...........is about a week! LOL
I decided to give this a shot since it's about how I get my hair cut anyway, and I don't think the barbers will be seeing me for quite some time. Thank you for this, this will save me some money as well!
What a gem!, I began cutting my own hair at the beginning of lockdown, my first attempt left me looking like the accomplished actor Sir John Mills in his unforgettable role as Michael in the film "Ryans Daughter" (a must watch if you haven't seen it!), as time went by my confidence grew, but it still took me around an hour, using a selection of guards to cut my hair, I tried your method today and bam! you've helped me nail it, not only that but I've made an appointment at my local barbers for my next cut to show my appreciation and support a local small business.
I bought clippers at the very start of the first lockdown and began cutting my own hair being quite pleased with the results, even though it was a shaky start, getting better with each cut and time. Having watched this guys vids and taking on board his experience and well-explained easy-to-follow tips perfected my technique and consider myself almost a pro on my own hair. I feel bad taking business from the young lad who cut my hair prior to COVID by not returning to him. He was talking about going to live and work in Ibiza so am hoping that's what he did. (If you are out there and read this and you worked in S.Notts) Thanks for this vid and others all of which are great. I'm a fan.
Awesome! Thank you. I've been cutting my own hair for 30 years and my boys' for about 14 years. I've been getting tired of fading on my own haircuts and just wanted to do a buzz cut or undercut or anything that would be super simple (but that wouldn't make my wife too happy). This ticks all the boxes and won't have my wife complaining.
Me too have been cutting my hair on my own since last 7-8 year. I bought an Andiys clipper and it has been working flawlessly. I am done within 5 minutes, totally hated when barber used to take 30 minutes to keep repeating at same place again and again 😊
I've been watching for last year having found your first videos extremely useful and the only ones I trusted enough to try to cut my own hair. I remember sitting down and watching the videos before each haircut to make sure I didn't miss anything. This video is by far the most helpful tutorial of all time for diy haircuts. After a few self haircuts I'm finally at the point to where I've got it somewhat down but love your other videos showing how to further refine the process. Keep up the amazing work!
Agree. I did the same and it works great! Now I can also cut another person's hair also and getting better at it. (Easier to cut another head of hair than my own.) I go to a barber every other haircut to keep it nicely styled, easier now that Covid is over. These videos are great instruction.
Like a lot of men, I got trapped inside for over a year, having to cut my own hair, and sometimes it worked out well, sometimes it did not. Thank you for fully explaining this and what I need to do in the future this is a great video.
I'm a woman and have worn my hair either long, or in a flat top, for about 35 years. I've cut it myself for almost all my adult life, with clippers. I finally gave up trying to get the blend on the side right (because I had never been taught how to use clippers) and just buzz the whole thing except for my fringe. But now I've learned about cutting with the grain! I can't wait to grow the top out a bit and try your technique. Yay!
But I think it is better to watch a woman cutting her hair, not a man cutting his hair, basics of cutting hair might apply, but you will most likely understand it faster and better if you watch a woman cutting her hair, I didn't see a video of a woman cutting her hair, but I am assuming that video does exist
I'm autistic and really struggle with getting my hair cut , this video really helped me give myself a really decent cut , people were shocked when i told them it was a diy job Quite therapeutic too Thank you 🙏
I just did mine with a battery powered beard trimmer. It's done, though not as well as if I had proper Clippers. Thank you for the tips it looks well enough.
My mom is a retired cosmetologist and has mostly been doing my hair for 40 years now. I was in a pinch and needed to cleanup before going back to work after 4 weeks of paternity leave. This video was perfect and my mom approved of the haircut! Thank you!
I've been cutting my own hair for years with clippers. And I don't feel like I've ever gotten super good at it. Your video showed me how to be just as good or better than I am now after all of these years lol. Thank you so much.
Just saw your video. Loved the tips! Getting my clipper in two days. Also. Youre a barber and giving people advise how to do it themselves. Very selfless of you. If you lived near me you would have my business. Youre a good guy.
I tried it, worked for the sides at first, then messed up the back a little bit, and then the top... Then I tried to fix it all....got really messy fades....cut everything down to 3mm haha. Will do it again when the hair is longer. Thank you mate :D
This video and several others of yours have given me the confidence to try this, and I am so glad that I did. I have two self-haircuts (plus a couple of touch-ups) under my belt now and I am excited about the results. I look forward to improving my technique. I'm an older guy (YOB 1952) with some remaining 'fine motor skills' and, as long as I remain "relaxed", everything works out pretty well. Maybe the best thing of all is that now I don't have to pay someone else to give me a 'bush haircut'! You have a great personality and are a pleasure to watch. Thank you Michael!
I used this to cut my hair today and I look like a hundred bucks! I'm balding on the top but using the number 3 on the sides, and using the neck clean up video, it looks like I have a professional cut grown out about 5 days. I love it! Thank you.
Just did my hair almost just like this. I used 3mm, 12mm and 21mm guards and gotta say, I'm impressed. After a bit of practice, I could probably cut my hair just the way I like without waiting at the hair salon for like 2 hours. Remember folks, there's always the nuclear option if you fuck up, just cut the sides and the backs with 3mm and the rest with 21mm. I did it that way last time and it wasn't half bad.
First thank you so much, as many others in the comments this was the best DIY haircut for men. It's obivous you area master at your chosen trade and as a nifty bonus you have a wonderful accent. Cheers Mate and as the Doctor in the remote village aptly stated... God Bless. Also how did you know I was stressing out half way through and then like magic you told me to relax! Seriously that was pretty neat :)
Just watched again as a refresher course, more than 2 years after following your instructions to begin my 'do-it-myself' BUSH hair cutting! It's been terrific and I've graduated to the cordless Wahl® Senior clipper. THANK YOU!
Your video is a great primer on how to do a clipper cut. I’ve been using your video as a reminder of “how to” prior to cutting my hair. I have a pixie and use either a 6 or 7 guard for length as still want to look feminine. I also have a straight edge razor I use to detail my fringe. With your video it works like a charm every time. And yes, RELAX as you use the clippers!! You will achieve a better result.
Ive been clipping my own hair since the RONA, but your instruction produced the best cut to date. Your cutting the top technique produced a bit of hair (scary) but feathered better and layed down great when I combed it as I do. Thanks so much.
This video was a huge help. I’ve been using a #10 (against the grain) on my entire head, which was perfect on the top and front fringe, but I wanted the sides shorter. The #3 straight up on the sides and back did the trick!
Secret codes of the barbers revealed. I have been cutting my own hair for the last 8 years or so. I generally use a number 6 all round and get someone to tidy up around the sides and back. Great tips I will try to use what you have mentioned next time.
Wow, I just did it, and..... its a serviceable haircut! I'm doing my own from here out. I've been spending $US 50 per month, now never again. Guess I should give you your cut of that savings.... (get it? "your cut"!)
Been cutting my hair for over 28 years and never thought about using the Clipper to go forward on top of the head and I want it a bit longer on top. Can't wait to try this when o need a hair cut next, thanks
its 2024 and this guy motivated me to start cutting my own hair in 2022. not because of covid but my barber raised his prices to 18€ and now its 20€. also i dont look like an idiot for 2 weeks after i went there anymore. may Allah be pleased with you and reward you for everyone you have helped with this video.
I just did this with my new clipper!!! Used a number 4 instead in case i messed it up i could go back over it with a number 3. Took me 5 minutes!!!! Looks great. Thank you so much for the free advice.
I’ve been trimming my own hair around the back and sides for years using this method and recently suspected this might work on the top but was too afraid to give it a try. Thank you! I’m giving myself a haircut tomorrow.
Thanks for this vid! My husband is deaf and hates anyone working around his ears. Its a relief to be able to do this at home and to give him some peace 😁👏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏻
Huge thanks for this tutorial! I'm slowly coming out of a depressive episode where I really didn't care about myself and just cut my hair with kitchen scissors a few times when it got annoyingly long. And as I get more motivated and care more about myself again, I also wanted my hair to look OKish. Still couldn't motivate myself to go to a hairdresser, so getting some clippers and following this tutorial was an obvious solution. As a fun fact, I actually used the kitchen scissors again, but only because my clippers have a safeguard that doesn't allow them to cut way too long hair. So I used the scissors to shorten the hair to the length the clippers can handle. I'm very happy with how my hair turned out (for sure not 100% perfect, but so much better than before and better than I expected...), will definitely do this again in the future! Also funny that in my place, a pair of cheap, but surprisingly decent clippers costs less than a visit at the hairdresser ;)
Great video! I cut my hair during the 2020 lockdown and continued for a good 6 months afterwards. Eventually I had to stop because they got worse and worse. This video, I think, will help me cut my own hair again with some confidence. So thank you!
Besides being a great teacher you are a very good friendly human being and be getting many blessings each day for all seeds you sowed. Yours is the best instructive tutorial on this subject. May you prosper and remain healthy dear friend..
I have been cutting my own hair now for about 10 years or so. I use one of those costco haircutting systems-conair maybe? Greatest thing ever! Took me 3 or 4 times to get it down but haven’t looked back. No one looks at me funny so I must be doing it at least somewhat right!😂😂
Especially the shown method starting at 04:13 made the difference in my case and I was always cutting to the wrong direction in the past. No more in the future and happy with the result. Super helpful clip and everybody can do this. BIG THX! 👍
Brilliant! I’m going to Greece tomorrow and really needed my sides of my hair done properly even though I’ve got an Afro I curl down but couldn’t get anywhere to do it in time so this has been really helpful 👍🏾
Thank you so much for sharing! I've always cut my own hair but lazily just used to buzz cut all round, now I'm hoping to grow it out a bit, I'm really grateful for your tips.
I've cutting my own hair for over 10 yrs with clippers. On the ears I use the tapor blades ( ear blades) Then on the neck I go from ear to shoulder in a downward pass to shape and remove the fluff as he called it. I also go up one size to cut the crown then I do the top like he mentioned
Thanks for this. I've been freeballing my own haircuts since COVID locked us down. I've been doing two kids too. The "going forward on top" technique is new to me and I will give it a shot. Kids have been getting a 4 guard on top and a 2 on the sides with a 3 in between to kind of blend a bit. For my own I go 3 on the side like this, but tight along the skull up to the top hair whihc you suggest avoiding. Topside I just go finger length on top in the shower with scissors a couple times a week. The biggest PITA has been doing my own neck. That is always a mediocre job.
I've been cutting my own hair throughout the covid lockdowns. The most difficult task is a steady hand, using my less dominant hand and cutting opposite of the mirror. This guy is a barber, so he has the hand skills & muscle memory to do this properly. I'm too scared to cut it short like that. I just kept mine long & manageable!
I've been cutting my own hair since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and your videos help me refine my skills. Thank you for your videos! Greetings from Southern California!
I can imagine with the amount of cuts you've had to do you'll be getting pretty good at it. I bet you are having amazing weather there. We are all desperate for some sunshine here. ☀️
Nice one! I started cutting my own hair during Covid lockdown and thought I was doing a decent job. When I finally went to the barber’s the first thing he said was “have you been cutting your own hair?” Busted! Wish I had known about this video back then. Cheers!
@@theoneminutebarber Thanks! One tip I had was to stand in the bath and angle the bathroom cabinet mirror with a handheld mirror to see the back of my head easily. The clippings can be easily collected from the bath (don't flush them down the plughole in case you get a blockage!)
Thank you. I have been cutting my own hair since covid when all of the shops in Vermont closed. I have you to thank. My hair is quite similar to yours...a Celtic thing I guess.
Thanks a lot for this video. I just tried it today and wow I am so happy. I had a bit of trouble with my crown and I kept thinking "No.3 does not equal 3mm" so of course I grabbed the 3mm by mistake. Thankfully your other videos provided me with the ability to fix my mistake! My hair is shorter than I wanted but it all worked out.
Mine turned out great, however I did go a bit too short in the front but that's a good tip to lift off in the front if you want to be careful. also could just use a higher number guard like a 4 or 5
As usual super simple demonstration. Your videos gives good confidence. I am Doing a good job on my own cut since last year with your help. Thanks a lot Michael 🙏.
Best self cut video in UA-cam, I’ve tried many and this one came out almost exactly as going to my barber, my barber will start loosing money from now on, thanks.
This tutorial works,I was do that with guard #3(10 mm),and you can go just to your hairstylist to blend the hair line.Second time when I was do this tutorial work with shorter guard #2 and end up with no guard sides and back and almost ruined totaly top hair,I stopped at the time, now I have to wait hair grow. What I learned, top of the hair can only be cut with #3(10 mm) or best option is to cut hair at the top carefully and NO RUSH with scissors.
I found this video last night and was really intrigued. So I liked and subscribed and then watched it like three more times today and then I got my brother's clippers out and did it. I only everything with the 3 guard today and I really think that it looks good. Tomorrow I will finish with the 2 and the 1 and edge over my ears and clean up my neck with the detailing trimmer. You're right, if people just follow your instructions there's nothing to be scared of.
I was worried that in the end because of my little experience, I was going to end up looking like Uncle Fester 😂 But everything turned out perfect on the first try! 🤩 It's good that I found your video quickly before trying it without knowing anything. Thank you very much! - Ramón 🇲🇽
4:11 top of the head. With the grain of the hair to reduce the bulk - not the length. Cool. From another of your videos - a 2 guard could then help to blend in the top with the sides (again going with the grain, top of side down - as you introduced!) That's the only improvement to this video I could notice for self-haircut. (But I know you were just using a 3 to keep it simple).
Hi Mike, greetings from another Mike in San Francisco. Thank you so much for your videos; I finally took the plunge & bought a Wahl Haircutting Kit & used this video to guide me. Your instructions are clear & to the point, thank you for your generosity in sharing your skills for the benefit of others. Just finished cutting & had to comment here in appreciation. The only difficulty I had was having to use my left hand (I'm right-handed) in addition to looking at a mirror image while cutting (oh, man, I'm going to cut my ear off or something worse 🤣). I just took my time & by the time I finished, I was more comfortable with it. Just will take more practice holding the clippers while looking at the mirror, maybe using my right hand on the left side. When I showed the results to my wife, she said I looked no different than when I went to the barber the last time. Can't believe how good it looks for the first time self cutting with clippers. For over a year now, I've been cutting my hair with my nail scissors 😂🤣😆!!! Now I feel like a human being again instead of a crazy hermit. I'm 64, so this shows you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! Thank you so much!
That's awesome Mike, I love to hear stories like this. Well done. I'm glad too that the nail clippers have been replaced. That must have taken an eternity. 🤌✂️ And I completely get the left hand plus mirror thing, the brain just can't compute for some reason, but stick at it. It becomes second nature after a few cuts.
@@theoneminutebarber UPDATE: Just finished my third self-cut & made a major breakthrough. After the euphoria of the first haircut wore off, I could see some rough spots of my work. No problem, I'm a beginner. After the second self-cut, it looked like I was having problems blending where the top meets the sides. I'm better at holding the hand mirror to see the back, but manipulating the clippers in the mirror at certain angles is still problematic. After my first pass today, I looked at the problem areas in the mirror & visualized how to approach them, passing over them with the clippers off as a dry run. I tried relaxing by closing my eyes while doing it, and realized I could keep the clippers perfectly in line. EUREKA! CUT THOSE AREAS WITH MY EYES CLOSED! So, I picked a small area with a problem, turned on the clippers & closed my eyes, and I was able to get that spot with perfect control of the clippers by eliminating visuals & relying on touch alone. Like flying a plane in zero visibility with instruments. Absolutely perfect! I then went over all the others spots that needed attention one by one, eyes closed relying on touch, and the result was PERFECTION! It sounds crazy, but it worked!!
I can imagine it worked. It's very much a gliding motion. You know your head is straight and your arm is moving in the same direction. Well done BM I love to hear these success stories. 🙌
Wow! Look at your Channel now! 🔥🔥🔥 It so awesome to see how much you have grown since I started following you at the beginning of Covid lockdown here in US. Congratulations Michael! You deserve it. Best Barber on UA-cam. You helped me cut my hubby’s hair for over a year now. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Aw thanks so much Chrissy, I hope I can keep delivering useful knowledge for as long as possible. I really appreciate your words of support thank you. ❤️
I've been cutting my own hair at home since March of 2020 (thanks to the pandemic). I'm still doing it, just did it yesterday, actually. It isn't that hard and I actually find it pretty enjoyable, mostly due to the money savings. You'll never get a crisp neckline doing it yourself but you just work on tapering it and it is perfectly acceptable. If you have someone who can do your neckline for you you'll get a crisp neckline. I use a Wahl's Magic Clip clipper and I just bought some guards either on ebay or amazon. For the sides and back I taper from 1-3 and usually do a 7 on top as I like some length as I use a good matte paste for styling. Highly recommend guys give it a try, I've been doing it for over 4 years now and can't see myself going back to getting professional hair cuts.
This is the best DIY haircut video I've ever seen. Thank you so much for making this video. I usually do a one size all over buzz to almost bald because I was too intimidated to try fading. This video makes it all so simple to get the look I really wanted.
@@theoneminutebarber just braved your technique and it turned out pretty dang good! Maybe a bit close in one spot on top where I didn’t quite get the growth direction, but still. Thanks for the self haircut empowerment! 😆

Which number of trimmer comb
You teach at barber school, and give yourself a jacked up bowl cut on UA-cam. 😅

@frankleyva7484 this is an easy one. Just close one leg of the glasses and put them on with one leg open and one leg closed. Then swap

Might have been nice to mention that at the beginning of the cut
Awesome video. Thank you. My 10yr old son desperately needed a haircut and money has been tight. I used your method and it turned out great! Super quick too. Now I can add amateur barber to my Mom skills 👍
Glad it helped!
That’s some price increase. In the UK the equivalent now is more like $45
You're badass...
THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR, FOR SHARING YOUR STORY. THAT WAS AMAZING AND AMUZING AS WELL.

Cheers to all the barbers that are left with us, my two barbers both died in the last two years, one from tobacco and then the owner from COVID. This is now my #1 haircut technique, beats the other UA-cam techniques, much faster, and less flat head look.
Billy I'm so sorry to hear that news about your previous barbers.
Just one guard... cutting with the grain on top instead of against it... game changer! Thanks for the tips!
You bet! Thank you
same here! the top of the head was always a head scratcher for me and is what deterred me from cutting my own hair. after seeing this video I was able to cut my hair for the first time in my life... thank you so much, I not only feel so much more confident with myself but I look better too!@@theoneminutebarber
How does the hair look thicker on top with the same #3 guard
@@chrisdoggett368 you go with the grain(direction of growth) for the top, which leaves it longer
I im cutting my own hair for 25 years. Started doing this as an immigrant who couldn't afford hair saloon in UK. The only difference i go against the hair on the top. Works as well. 👍
Grrreat, no-nonsense video!! I brought a pair of old 2nd hand Wahl home-cut clippers and 3 guides, at a car boot sale, for the knockdown price of 25p, and have been cutting my own hair ever since... ever since... wait for this... ever since 1995 🤣
😮😀👍
Spot on tutorial. My wife bought me some clippers at the start of COVID and I have cut my own hair since. Im not too worried what the back looks like but nobody has ever passed any comment? Spent £20 before christmas on a haircut but it didnt look as good as my DIY effort so will not do that again. They say the difference between a really good haircut and a bad one ...........is about a week! LOL
I’m glad to hear it. Well done
Thanks! Gonna save on haircuts forever now, least I can do is tip you 😁
Thank you 🙏 I really appreciate the tip 😁
I gave myself a buzz cut #2. Took 10 minutes and saved me $20. Its was really easy.
I have been cutting my OWN hair for one year straight because of this video! Thank you!!!!
My pleasure 🙏
That's awesome Jimbo. Good on you 👍👍👍
I bought clippers at the very start of the first lockdown and began cutting my own hair being quite pleased with the results, even though it was a shaky start, getting better with each cut and time. I'm a fan.
An older man who just got t a trimmer
for xmas , I've watched a lot of hair-cutting videos,,you are the best..
Thanks Ernie 😃
Awesome!
Thank you Aleksandr 🙌😁
Agree!👍
I started cutting my own hair during the lockdowns, and I've never looked back. Good old buzz-cut!
Yay!
I hope it helps, let me know how you get on
But I think it is better to watch a woman cutting her hair, not a man cutting his hair, basics of cutting hair might apply, but you will most likely understand it faster and better if you watch a woman cutting her hair, I didn't see a video of a woman cutting her hair, but I am assuming that video does exist
I'm autistic and really struggle with getting my hair cut , this video really helped me give myself a really decent cut , people were shocked when i told them it was a diy job
Quite therapeutic too
Thank you 🙏
My pleasure Andy thank you 🙏
I just did mine with a battery powered beard trimmer.
Thank you so much Joelle 😃
Just saw your video. Loved the tips! Getting my clipper in two days. Also. Youre a barber and giving people advise how to do it themselves. Very selfless of you. If you lived near me you would have my business. Youre a good guy.
Glad I could help! Thank you Sammy 😃
I tried it, worked for the sides at first, then messed up the back a little bit, and then the top... Then I tried to fix it all....got really messy fades....cut everything down to 3mm haha.
Will do it again when the hair is longer.
Thank you mate :D
You’ll get better each time. And top marks for trying
Thank you so much Getgas, 😁
And well done for taking the leap. You will also only get better at it.
I used this to cut my hair today and I look like a hundred bucks! I'm balding on the top but using the number 3 on the sides, and using the neck clean up video, it looks like I have a professional cut grown out about 5 days. I love it! Thank you.
Awesome I’m glad to hear it.
As a diy haircutter myself this video gave me some good tips. Especially using clipper with the grain on top to thin it out a little. Cheers buddy
thank you Lee
I agree. It is not a professional haircut. However, it worked for me. I tried my first do-it-yourself haircut. Thanks mate for the spot on coaching!
No problem 👍 thank you
First thank you so much, as many others in the comments this was the best DIY haircut for men.
Wow, thank you! I’m glad you found it helpful. And you will get better every time 👍😃
Just watched again as a refresher course, more than 2 years after following your instructions to begin my 'do-it-myself' BUSH hair cutting! It's been terrific and I've graduated to the cordless Wahl® Senior clipper. THANK YOU!
Glad I could help, and the Wahl senior is a great purchase.
I just followed this guide for cutting my own hair, except with a 5/5.5. Came out GREAT!
I've been cutting my hair this way once a month for many year's with a #4 blade guard. I save about 400 dollars a year by cutting my own hair.
Ive been clipping my own hair since the RONA, but your instruction produced the best cut to date. Your cutting the top technique produced a bit of hair (scary) but feathered better and layed down great when I combed it as I do. Thanks so much.
Awesome! Thank you!
This video was a huge help. I’ve been using a #10 (against the grain) on my entire head, which was perfect on the top and front fringe, but I wanted the sides shorter. The #3 straight up on the sides and back did the trick!
Thanks from Australia mate, your a legend. 👍🏼
Hey KC thank you so much 😁🙌
All good mate, you deserve it for your help 😁
Secret codes of the barbers revealed. I have been cutting my own hair for the last 8 years or so. I generally use a number 6 all round and get someone to tidy up around the sides and back. Great tips I will try to use what you have mentioned next time.
Wow, I just did it, and..... its a serviceable haircut! I'm doing my own from here out. I've been spending $US 50 per month, now never again.
Guess I should give you your cut of that savings.... (get it? "your cut"!)
😂 thank you
Been cutting my hair for over 28 years and never thought about using the Clipper to go forward on top of the head and I want it a bit longer on top. Can't wait to try this when o need a hair cut next, thanks
Glad I could help!
its 2024 and this guy motivated me to start cutting my own hair in 2022.
not because of covid but my barber raised his prices to 18€ and now its 20€. also i dont look like an idiot for 2 weeks after i went there anymore.
may Allah be pleased with you and reward you for everyone you have helped with this video.
Thank you Ibrahim
I just did this with my new clipper!!! Used a number 4 instead in case i messed it up i could go back over it with a number 3. Took me 5 minutes!!!! Looks great. Thank you so much for the free advice.
That is awesome!
I’ve been trimming my own hair around the back and sides for years using this method and recently suspected this might work on the top but was too afraid to give it a try. Thank you! I’m giving myself a haircut tomorrow.
Let me know how it goes
I'm glad this helped, and because you've done it once you'll get better and better each time
@@theoneminutebarber Thanks!
Great video! I cut my hair during the 2020 lockdown and continued for a good 6 months afterwards. Eventually I had to stop because they got worse and worse. This video, I think, will help me cut my own hair again with some confidence. So thank you!
This is the BEST video! I find working with scissors so difficult, love that this is clippers only.
Thank you Sadie 😁
Honestly thought the only haircut I could give myself was a buzz cut... this video was super easy to understand and yielded amazing results
Besides being a great teacher you are a very good friendly human being and be getting many blessings each day for all seeds you sowed. Yours is the best instructive tutorial on this subject. May you prosper and remain healthy dear friend..
Thank you so much 😊 god bless you
I have been cutting my own hair now for about 10 years or so. I use one of those costco haircutting systems-conair maybe? Greatest thing ever! Took me 3 or 4 times to get it down but haven’t looked back. No one looks at me funny so I must be doing it at least somewhat right!😂😂
Me too. Im the only person to cut my hair.
Your videos helped me a lot for cutting my husband’s hair. My skill improve a lot too . Thank you very much.
That's great Tin, good for you getting some new skills 🙌😁
I went paying 25 bucks a month for my haircuts to 50 bucks a year for my hair cuts. Thanks so much for the helpful content.
Great job!👏
Especially the shown method starting at 04:13 made the difference in my case and I was always cutting to the wrong direction in the past. No more in the future and happy with the result. Super helpful clip and everybody can do this.
BIG THX! 👍
Thank you Joe 😃
Watched this while cutting my hair. Best solo cut yet! Wife approved
I tried to cut my own hair for the first time today using this method, and it works great 👍
Brilliant! I’m going to Greece tomorrow and really needed my sides of my hair done properly even though I’ve got an Afro I curl down but couldn’t get anywhere to do it in time so this has been really helpful 👍🏾
Have a great holiday.
Thank you so much for sharing! I've always cut my own hair but lazily just used to buzz cut all round, now I'm hoping to grow it out a bit, I'm really grateful for your tips.
This actually did result in the best haircut I've ever had. Cheers
Good tips. This will improve my self-haircuts.
Extremely well explained. I’ve been trying with a beard trimmer and guard but had no idea what I was doing. Thank you for posting!
I’m happy it helped 😀
I've watched a bunch and this was the easiest to follow
I've cutting my own hair for over 10 yrs with clippers.
On the ears I use the tapor blades ( ear blades)
Then on the neck I go from ear to shoulder in a downward pass to shape and remove the fluff as he called it.
Same the back is hard to do alone.
It’s not for everyone, by any means if you are nervous about this then it’s best to leave it to the professional barber.
Thank you. I tried many ways to cut my hair. This is by far the most easiest and best way!!
You're so welcome!
That is just an awesome tutorial. Worked great. The result looks even better than from my barber. Thank you very much.
You're very welcome!
I just tried it on my first ever self-haircut! Came out awesome man! I used a #8 cause I was a bit nervous but still great results!
Nice one! I started cutting my own hair during Covid lockdown and thought I was doing a decent job. When I finally went to the barber’s the first thing he said was “have you been cutting your own hair?” Busted! Wish I had known about this video back then. Cheers!
I can spot it in an instant, but if its only the barber that noticed then you must have been making a pretty good job.
@@theoneminutebarber Thanks! One tip I had was to stand in the bath and angle the bathroom cabinet mirror with a handheld mirror to see the back of my head easily. The clippings can be easily collected from the bath (don't flush them down the plughole in case you get a blockage!)
If you follow along and do exactly as he explains, this is an awesome haircut and easy to do.
Did this and really happy with the results. 👍
Thank you. I have been cutting my own hair since covid when all of the shops in Vermont closed. I have you to thank. My hair is quite similar to yours...a Celtic thing I guess.
You are very welcome Kevin. 👍
Mine turned out great, however I did go a bit too short in the front but that's a good tip to lift off in the front if you want to be careful. also could just use a higher number guard like a 4 or 5
Good job Anthony 👍👍👍
Thanks!
Thank you so much John 🙌😀
As usual super simple demonstration. Your videos gives good confidence. I am Doing a good job on my own cut since last year with your help. Thanks a lot Michael 🙏.
Best self cut video in UA-cam, I’ve tried many and this one came out almost exactly as going to my barber, my barber will start loosing money from now on, thanks.
It’s not a bad method. Although your barber will always make a better job. Especially around the edges. But I’m glad it helped.
I've been cutting my own hair for about 8 years now. Watching from the sun shine state 😁
I just cut my hair today, thank you 🙏 😊 very much, good man 👨
You're welcome 😊
This tutorial works,I was do that with guard #3(10 mm),and you can go just to your hairstylist to blend the hair line.Second time when I was do this tutorial work with shorter guard #2 and end up with no guard sides and back and almost ruined totaly top hair,I stopped at the time, now I have to wait hair grow. What I learned, top of the hair can only be cut with #3(10 mm) or best option is to cut hair at the top carefully and NO RUSH with scissors.
Love the Skaughtisch accent!
Great Job
I was worried that in the end because of my little experience, I was going to end up looking like Uncle Fester 😂 But everything turned out perfect on the first try! 🤩 It's good that I found your video quickly before trying it without knowing anything. Thank you very much! - Ramón 🇲🇽
That’s awesome Ramon. Im happy it helped 😁
And I completely get the left hand plus mirror thing, the brain just can't compute for some reason, but stick at it.
Just did this and it looks great! Honestly, this look just like the $25 cut at my barber's. I just have my SO trim the back a bit.
Thanks bubble, Also I prefer a taper to a neckline anyway
This is the best DIY haircut video I've ever seen. Thank you so much for making this video. I usually do a one size all over buzz to almost bald because I was too intimidated to try fading. This video makes it all so simple to get the look I really wanted.
All UA-cam videos should be this informative, pleasant and efficient. You’re great!
I appreciate that! Thank you
@@theoneminutebarber just braved your technique and it turned out pretty dang good! Maybe a bit close in one spot on top where I didn’t quite get the growth direction, but still. Thanks for the self haircut empowerment! 😆
