Ever since the quarantine, I've cut my hair twice and I am really enjoying the independence that comes from learning how to do it.
Dude for real. Saving me 30 bucks every 2 weeks
LILLYA
Thanks bro really good
you said it. Quarantine has in fact taught many people new skills. Personally, i've been cutting my own hair forever. Now I see people struggling with their hair. So good on you.
@@oraclebjj I've thought about giving people in my community free haircuts just to practice if they didn't mind. My next self haircut, I'm gonna try out using scissors.
I’ve been cutting my husband’s hair every 2 weeks since quarantine but he’s never been quite satisfied. I came across your video yesterday, watched it 3-4 times, and just gave him a haircut. He said “WOW! I feel like I just went to a real barber!” Thank you so much for this video! I found myself nodding and answering you as you did the tutorial! 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome. Excellent job.
Ricardo The Barber I did another haircut today and it didn’t come out as good as the last time. I think the reason being, I didn’t have good natural lighting in our bathroom today, so I’d like to get a lamp of some sort. Do you have a recommendation on what sort of lamp? Thank you!
Never seen this comment. A ring light works wonders. If not a regular lamp will work just have a strong light bulb in it. Lighting is key
Watched this video and couldn't believe that I waisted money at the barber for so long 😂
@@kikado3 Thanks! I bought a studio light but it's still not cutting it so I'll look into a ring light. I literally watch this video right before each haircut. Although I'm getting better, it still doesn't come out as good as yours. I have a new respect for good barbers like you all around.
We need a barber appreciation day once the shops start to open up.
Yes for real. Regardless watch how appreciated you feel once the clients come back bro.
For real. Only making 50 percent of what we were making before. Its sad
Lol why if we can cut our own hair? I ain't going back, too expensive, £25 pounds a week it cost me
@@louieeagle9518 I probably paid mortgage on barbers house lol. So gonna learn myself now. But if business really is bad, need to think outside the box. Do a short massage course on head and neck. Give a free massage to anyone who gets a trim. Visit elderly homes on day u normally shut, with protective equipment. Do it free first month, then payment next one. Set up mobile business, recruit newly trained barbers to work on commission, no point moaning about losing money, do something about it, dont blame ppl cutting their own hair, trying guilt trip them into paying for service some can do their self
Dude was hating for some reason. I never talked to him at all saying any of that. Dudes a little weird
I have been cutting my own hair for the last 15 to 20 yrs and I am still learning. Now with UA-cam and tik toks videos , I have learn more on how to do my own. Something I recommend is to invest in good clippers. I remember thinking when the hell is someone going to upload a video on how to cut your own hair.. Now its all over the Web. Thanks for this video. So far the best. Nice and easy steps.
This is by far the best informational video on the internet when it comes to cutting your own hair/cutting hair. You really show ALL steps and clearly communicate what you’re doing step by step. Thank you.
Love this comment. Thank you so much
Ricardo The Barber just cut my own hair today using your tips and it came out perfectly! Thank you again Ricardo!!!
I agree, great informative video!
Awesome man good to hear
For real
His hair before his haircut is my hair after my haircut.
Right? I'd be happy if I can get mine to look at good as his was when he started!
lmao

Bruh how
😂
I love your teaching style. Feels like every training evolution in the military I have ever attended. Your use of “nothing too complicated” really nails it! Like, don’t over think it, this is easy. Because of you, I got the confidence to cut my own hair. I have always wanted to, but seemed to complicated. You make it easy. Thanks man!
I gave myself my first fade ever, been wanting to do it for about 3 years now but no one gave such a detailed answer on “how” to. For some reason I just clicked with you and I am now able to give myself the fades I’ve been wanting to do forever. I owe it all to you man. Thank you so much bro!
I have been cutting my own hair going on for 3 weeks now and I can honestly say I have gotten better thanks to all the UA-cam barbers on here. The first time I used a headband so I won’t messed I’m the lines lol
Did the headband work? I was going to try gaffer tape, lol, might work...
Thin Redline yes using a headband works if you are cutting your hair for the first time, I don’t even use it no more
Lucky. My shit came out wack af. Can't wait to go in
@@thinredline2795 lmao
Good idea!!! Ill try a rubber band or something.
Please add caption/subtitles if possible for this video. It will especially give more clarity to the machine measure setting part. I need little clarification about the blending different lines of hair cutting. Please consider this just a humble suggestion. This video is complete in every aspect.
Still come to this video every week - so easy to follow
That is how it’s done. The accuracy and precision is another level. Thank you
Bro you are a professional. I guarantee you the majority of dudes that try this on their own. For sure will mess up their hair. Lol 😂! God bless 🙏.
I’m impressed. Of all the videos I’ve watched in cutting own’s hair, this is the best. Very informative with using the lever.
Been cutting my hair for 38 years. I always get compliments. You did a great job! Props!
I have been cutting my own hair for quite a few years now and all I can say is you just get better and better with practice. Naturally short hairstyles are the best.
Masterclass - the end result speaks for itself. This is the first time I've watch a complete 30 minute video on UA-cam for as long as I can remember. Thanks for great tutorial.
Ricardo,
I just wanted to drop a comment and let you know about 5 years ago I watched your vids as a freshman in college and the realization I needed to get my haircut and didn't want to spend $20 every two weeks. I used your vids and I am still cutting my own hair to this day. Over 5 years' worth of haircut on my Wahl clippers, saving my hundreds if not thousands of dollars. I even cut my roommate's hair and used that as a decent little side hustle. I hope you're staying safe man and just wanted to let you know you are a great teacher! Cheers man, keep that fade rockin.
Been truing to cut my own hair for 20 years, but never understood the lever and how it's used. This is a game changer. Thanks!
Been cutting my own hair since 2013 I love to do it , it's not about money I can pay $50 each time I have no problems with money but cutting my own hair any time I want with my own tools its amazing
Best haircut tutorial EVER!! I have been giving my poor husband awful haircuts since this pandemic started 😩 if he allows me i will give it another go. I feel better educated now lol thanks so much
Glad to hear Sadia. Best of luck
I just subscribed. Ive been watching this video & cutting my own hair/ having my babe help cut my my hair for over a year! I just realized your a actual barber. Thanks for the help brother!!
Awesome man glad to hear and thank you so much
Ricardo, you taught me everything I know about barbering. You have the best most patient tutorials. Thanks for that, I've made some money learning from you. Thanks for your videos family.
No doubt man thank you for the support. I try to make it easy but you know how it can be in reality. Thanks for always watching.
I literally went and bought myself the Wahl senior cordless and also the detailer after watching this vid last week. I gave myself my first cut yesterday following you and i have to say im very satisfied with my investment. Thank you brother
You are amazing! the cut I did doesn't look bad at all. My barber ghosted me, unfortunately, however now I know how to cut my own hair!!!!!
By far the best self haircut tutorial on youtube! Really appreciate how you constantly repeated about when we’re supposed to open and close the lever. You made it very clear and easy to follow, thank you so much bro, keep up the great work.
Great instructions. I'm a retired barber and have been cutting my own hair for about two years (bald fade). I had my own shop and the rent was $4K/month, I feel sorry for these shop owners now, with this stupid shutdown, how do they pay the rent. God Bless and thanks for sharing. I have a lot of tools I'd like to get rid of Osters, Andis, and Styliner II, don't need them anymore.
Thanks dude, I've been cutting my own hair here in the UK for 5 years but never figured out the fade. Just followed your tutorial and now I have a badass fade after years of trying. Big thanks! 👍
Dude that's awesome. Thank you for tuning in.
I've used this video since the beginning of quarantine and it is hands down the best and easiest tutorial to follow. Every couple of weeks, I pull this video up for reference on my iPad as I go through the cut. I have gotten more and more comfortable and actually enjoy doing it now. Thanks Ricardo for making this video. You have really helped me and I'm sure so many others!
James thank you for watching buddy. Im glad it helped a lot of people through these weird times.
Best video so far. Will have to try this method on my husband.
I've been cutting my hair for the past 20 years. However, your tutorial provided some valuable tips, i.e., 1st, 2nd layer etc. Much appreciated!
Man hands down best self cut tutorial, and the information you give to whom ever tries to cut anyones elses hair is right on point! keep up the Great work!💯💈
Since I first watched this video about two months ago, I have now given myself three haircuts. I just gave myself my the third one. As could be expected, this one was the best so far. This time I ad-libbed a bit. I don't do a true bald fade I start with #1/2 Guard. So, I started with a #1/2 guard closed for the 1st guideline. Then I did the second guideline open. Then I did the 3rd guideline with a #1 open. For each guideline I did something different though. I inverted my clippers on my first pass for each new guideline to make it easier to see my new lines, starting at the top of the newest guideline / section and pulling down, working my way around my head as you demonstrate. Then I flipped the clippers right side up after each new guideline and shave upward to remove the remaining hair in that section. I did this for all three guidelines. The interesting thing I discovered doing it this way is that it automatically blended the sections. I did not end up with any lines when I finished. I had my wife check it out because I though maybe my eyes were just playing tricks on me, but she confirmed that it was all blended. This was my experience and I can;t say how it will work for anyone else. Thanks again Ricardo! Respect and Appreciation! No doubt you are as excellent a Barber as you are a teacher.
😲 OMG 👏👏 YOU MADE THIS TUTORIAL SO EASY TO UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS OF FADING WHICH I ALWAYS HAVE TROUBLE WITH ERASING THOSE LINES. WONDERFUL TUTORIAL. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND GOD BLESS YOU 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤
To be a patient teacher is a rear gift evey time I cut my hair I hated it but now you patiently show me & others how to self cut our head & love it thanks for sharing sir
I watched so many videos for days trying to get the best detailed one ☝️. This one is by far the only vídeo in the entire UA-cam that teaches you how to cut your own hair and giving you a close up of each adjustment with the trimmer. You are extremely confident in every step and words. Thank you for taking time and sharing with us. 6 stars barber!
Awesome man glad to help.
Just came across this video,I wanted to get perfect with blending and fading.he explained the concept very clearly.thanks Ricardo.
This is the best video I have watch so far when it comes to cut my own hair practice will make me good I hate going to barbers honestly the time that I spend there , the guy always on a rush doing it faster etc etc . Doin it yourself give you the freedom to to do things your way and that along is priceless .
I watched this and it gave me the confidence to buy my own clippers and do a simple haircut for the first time and it came out better than I expected. Thank you, bro 🙏
Glad to hear. Excellent job.
Thank you. Just took 2hrs to do my first home fade cut. Not looking to bad. You make the mirror and trimming look way to easy bro. Again, thank you for the help!
Excellent man im glad to help. It get easier from here
one of the best guide ever . i Did it better than my local baber shop😄
Excellent work then man. 👏
best tutorial for this type out there 👍🏻 🙏🏻
What’s really amazing is how you can use both hands for cutting. I’m great with my dominant hand (right), but when I try with my left, it’s a disaster. So I have to cut both sides with the right hand, which limits my second mirror usage.
This mirror might help. Not cheap though. Review here from this channel

I have watched countless videos and this was the most beginner explanatory understandable I have seen Thankyou.
Bro! This is probably the best video on you breaking down a fade thanks man you definitely simplified fading
Thanks for the video bro, I don't think I will be going back to the barber's after lockdown is over.by far the best self haircut video out there
Ricardo, your're the man.
Thank you for your advice.
You made my day.
Hands down the best tutorial! THANKS! Excellent barber!
This is by far the best self hair cutting tutorial on UA-cam so far ... Thanks man
I've watched a lot of these videos. Yours is the best video. Detailed explanation to perfection. Thank you for sharing. Awesome haircut by the way 👍

DAMN THAT'S BETTER THAN MY BARBER COULD EVER DO!!!
You need to find a better barber my G
Best self hair cut video on UA-cam WORLDWIDE! Thanks Bro! Greetings from Germany
Great video, gave me to confidence to fade myself up. Came out better than the worst haircut I’ve paid for.
Best explanation of fading, I would try if I wasn’t bald af. :(
Hey mate, came across your video searching for clipper lockdown haircut and beard trim.
Your straightforward explanation and visual guide of how to blend the sides using the guard and adjuster has allowed me to do my own hair, beard and blend them together, thanks so much man, big fan of this approach, no drama, no melodramatics, calm, plain-speaking, good-humoured and instructive - Much thanks from the UK.
Awesome man. Thank you so much for watching and im so glad it worked out for you. Cheers
Thank you for this bro. It didnt come out perfect but it wasnt bad for my first time. The hardest part was holding the mirror lol.
My man ... that was really well done. I diy everything on UA-cam and that was one of the best tutorials on anything that I've seen yet. Appreciate your dedication to your craft.
Just out of curiosity, what is the most challenging thing you've accomplished from learning DIY on YT? I DIY a bunch of random stuff too. The most challenging for me was probably learning motorcycle mechanics once I started riding years and years ago. It took a long time and a lot of trial and error, but now I can actually build superbikes (and any other motorcycle really) from the ground up. I had basically no mechanical knowledge when I started, except for basics like oil changes, brake pad changes, & tire changes on a car lol. I learned pretty much everything on YT. Later on when I met my 2 buddies who happen to be professional AMA racers and also run one of the best shops for superbikes in the world, they taught me all kinds of cool stuff. Made me a way better mechanic and rider/racer too. Great dudes.
Legit just faded my hair and looks pretty good for the first time, took bit more than an hour but really happy best tutorial so far.
Your a covid hero 🦸♂️
Been using the video since covid. I'm the military so hair is cut every 3 weeks. Great video. 👍
The best tutorial I’ve seen. Thanks man I appreciate your video
Holy smokes boys it worked! Had to touch up the back a few times to even things out. What helped me a lot to make the lines was using one of my daughters head bands to make a straight line and progressively moved it up as i was changing the guards on the clippers.
Once coronavirus is over, we will have many new talented & skilled hairdressers!
I did the 5 in the beginning, but now I'm a 0 all around cause i fuc**ed my shit up
But you did a hell of a good job 👏 thumbs 👍 thanks for the video
I just did this haircut with my Whal color pros (waiting on the fast feeds) and it came out great. Thank you
This is a good trim hair cut.
Nice bro I’ve been cutting my hair since I was about 16 years old I’m 40 now but just learned a lot about how to improve my fade thank you for taking the time to help us out during this time I appreciate you bro
No problem wayne keep cutting man
I'm 8 and a half so I followed this guide now I'm so fresh and crispy all the ladies love me.
Thank you kind barber man.
Nice man lol
One of the best tutorial DIY videos. Simple straight to the point. You’re instructions and directions are very simple to follow. Thank you for the video. 👍🏻👍🏻
Best 30 minutes invested of my time....exactly what I needed to know and well explained how to transition from clip to clip and fading was already cutting my hair it this adds to my goal to get better THANKS MAN!!!! You definently got a new fan here...
You are the man!!! The fade looks killer 💪
I've never cut my hair in my life but after watching his video I think I might give it a shot. I got to admit you're good at what you do.
You end up shaving all down or did it turn out good
Did this fade cut for the first time today...started with a #2 'cause my hair wasn't that long, and made my cuts between bald and #2 blade...came out good though, thanks Ricardo 👍
Glad to hear larry. Your welcome
Damn I wish I found this video sooner, love the detailed step by step approach! I got my fade looking nice on the sides but my back stay jacked up! 😂
Thanks for the help brother I truly appreciated 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Bro you're making it look so easy ...
Super helpful. Thanks Ricardo. 👍🏿
Plan A: Try to use scissors on top.
Plan B: This bald fade.
Plan C: Bald.

Haha 😁🙈👍
I've had to shave my whole head like 3 times cause of messing it up.ive been doing my own for 3 half years.
Must sck when you mess up ur line or fade
Yes but practice makes perfect.
I tried 3 other tutorials before my husband found this one...best one by far! Thanks for keeping it simple and easy to follow. I was actually able to cut it the way he wanted!
Excellent job Mary
He said it's not his best....looked pretty damn good to me. Hope I get even close to what he just showed. Will try 3 2 1 first. Thanks. Best video by far.
Best video for own haircut !! Showing every detail
Bro that looks good. This is the BEST TUTORIAL VIDEO I SEEN. I been trying to get that skin to fade. But your method looks easier I will try it today. The only thing my head has some lumps😂 thanks bro.
Every time I watch these videos It cracks me up seeing their facial expression (frustrated type) coz i know how hard it is to do ur own hair, esp the back part. Ive been doing it for last 7 weeks due to lockdown and i look like a mutt each time. lolllll
I've been a diesel mechanic my hole life I'm a bad ass welder great in electrical made good money when the quarantine happened I quit my job bought very expensive equipment to cut hair I always wanted to be a barber watch videos started cutting my neighbors hair I told them if I mess up I'll pay them $100 the funny thing is that never messed up no one now I'm cutting hair I don't smell a diesel no more
This is by far the best video I have found for cutting your own hair. Very clear, very concise with explaining every step. Thank you Ricardo!
No problem john
Love the tutorial! Really detailed! Ive never heard of that 0 guard. I need to go buy it now. Ive been using the .5 guard for the last line and a 1.5 guard open and closed to get my fades. But I saw your method to be muuuuuch more detailed for a higher quality fade
0 guard? Can you give me the time stamp where he shows the 0 guard so I can understand in case I happened to miss that part? From what I understand, there's nothing you need to buy, and 0 is just not using a guard on your clippers. There are .5 and 1.5 guards, but I'm pretty sure 0 (no plastic guard) with the mechanical guard on the clippers fully extended is equivalent to .5 and and if you use a 1 guard with the mechanical guard fully extended, it's equivalent to a 1.5, etc. I would double check this though because I could be completely wrong and I don't want to mess up your haircuts lol.
Great detail. Best video with proper direction and patience. Thank you for taking the time to educate us.
I've tried many diy techniques, and this one by far gave me the best results. Thank you keep up the good work.
Outstanding on the Tutorial, I watched it like 3-4 times and cut my hair and it came out good for the first time . Thank you
Do you realize that you just cost me money? Now I have to buy those cordless masters bc the fast feeds that I have are difficult to self cut with the cord. I really liked this video, this is my next cut. Thanks brother.
I agree, as soon as this video ended I went to Amazon to buy them..... lol
That small investment for some clippers will save you alot of money in the long run
Master loud as fuck
Thanks for the video! I have also been cutting my son's hair and my own hair. Saving money on haircuts.
This is the best tutorial I've seen so far! 🙏 thanks!
You are officially a lifesaver! I kinda gashed the back but moved my fade up to clean it up but this was extremely helpful. Thank you! Start low my brothers. You can fade up but you can't go down!
No problem Michael. Glad to help brotha
