This is southern rock at it's finest. The flute solo at the beginning & end is great. Love their music from the 70's. Some of their other big hits were "Fire on the Mountain" & "Heard It in a Love Song". Southern rock fiddler Charlie Daniels did quite a few collaborations with them.
"Feeling some type of way" - Shon, that's exactly what good music does to you. This is pure talent right here. Live and in perfect sync. Toy Caldwell, lead guitarist, also lead singer on this song. Purple Heart recipient for the Vietnam War. Known as the fastest thumb in the south, thanks to his amazing guitar strumming. RIP. Toy. We miss you. If you want to get into more southern rock, definitely the big three: Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, and Marshall Tucker Band.
This is Southern rock .On the way to the hospital 43 yrs ago to have a baby this song came on the radio, and we named our son Marshall. 😍 Listen to Silverado outstanding!
This boy was certainly coming from somewhere, as he had just come home from Viet Nam. You know that ole story from the soldier, usually starts with a envelope from his woman back home, saying how loyal she is, when she is shacked up with some rich lil college boy. Yes this was the Grit only a USMC Vet can deliver.
We’ve had that Marshall Tucker CD Stuck in our Jeep player for years, and just never cared to get it out. We call it the Marshall Tucker Truck. The whole album is fantastic. It’s nice to see young people discover them too!!!
Had that happen to my Mother's Finest "Another Mother Further" cd. Stayed stuck in my car player for over a month. I didn't care. I played it anyway. It finally came out and a few days later I put it back in and listened to it again.
I love your reactions, Shon. You truly understand the messages in everyone of our old favorites. It's probably hard to imagine, but the music sets the tone for every generation. What you hear in our old music is what was in our hearts back in the '70s. I miss that so much.
This is southern rock and this song is definitely a gem….loving this reaction!!!! Can u PLEASE put “Keep your hands to yourself” by the Georgia Satellites on the list?!! Thanks ❤
RIP Toy Caldwell. You’d enjoy Take the Highway and This Ol Cowboy, as well as all the others mentioned here. It’s southern rock, but they throw a blues twist in there that just hits you right where it matters. I love these guys!
Lead singer Toy Caldwell could be my brothers identical twin!! RIP MIKE!!! This was Mikes favorite song! BTW, also one of my favorites!!!!!!!! So many memories of my youth!!! BTW, you've got to check out the live concert version!!! Phenomanal!!!
This song may be absolute perfection. There are so many things to talk about; I just want to mention the chord progression D-C-G-D. They use it over and over, and it never gets old. It's a progression that just works. Another song that uses it is the Eagles "Seven Bridges Road".
The Marshall Tucker Band is an American Southern rock band from Spartanburg, South Carolina. Noted for incorporating blues, country, and jazz into an eclectic sound, the Marshall Tucker Band helped establish the Southern rock genre in the early 1970s...OTHER HITS INCLUDE; HEARD IT IN A LOVE SONG, AND FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN...
When working for a public utility company many years ago I had the pleasure of talking with Toy. We were both in Vietnam during the same time and enjoyed reminiscing.
The 'clicking' technique on the solo at 5:03 is done by holding guitar pick tight so only the very tip is exposed to hit (in a percussive style) the string, then, at the same time, the string is semi-muted by the side flesh of the thumb, so the tone doesn't resonate as much..if ya know what i'm sayin🤘🏼
They are from Spartanburg, SC. I used to go see them every Friday night at a local bar in the early 70s. They are still touring with one original member. Great band live!
Excellent reaction This is one of my favorite songs. It just has it. The flute, beautiful. Love when bands then used different instruments with their guitars. The song creates an environment just where you're at. Not considered country, but rock by our generation. " can't you see?" LOL.
I don't know them as well as I should but 'Tell It To The Devil', 'Never Trust A Stranger' and 'Heard It In a Love Song' All from 1977, same album and all great Marshall Tucker Band tunes. Something else I know you would love is 'Henry Paul Band - So Long'. 1979. Give your ears a treat sometime soon. Cheers.
There was nobody named "Marshall Tucker" in the band. Marshall Tucker was the name written on a tag on the key to their practice studio. He was the previous renter of the studio.
Another top tier reaction from a top tier reactor. You get the music and you get the lyrics and you genuinely seem to enjoy it. This was a Golden Age for music...no doubt.
I was one year out of high school when this came out. There is nothing like classic and southern rock to make you feel. Since you like this I’d recommend the song Whipping Post. A GREAT southern woman done me wrong song. Mercy.
I'm so glad you enjoyed listening to "MTB" just as others have said, this is one of the best southern rock bands of this era. Here's another suggestion, if interested. "The Marshall Tucker Band - Fire On The Mountain (Live)" RIP: Toy Caldwell 💔🔥🎸U R Missed I enjoyed chilling with you for a min, bro really great reaction thanks
I really look forward to your reactions everyday! I love how you feel the vibes and details of each song; your descriptions are true to individual songs, lyrics, and guitar solos! You’ve become one of my favorite reactors. Thanks for making my days better 😊
Went to college in Macon, GA home of The Allman Brothers (at the time), welcome to Southern Rock! Another good one by MTB is "Take The Highway." Lots of great bands that recorded on The Capricorn label. A lesser known band that used to open for The Allman Brothers was called Eric Quincy Tate. They have a great song called "Things I Think I'll Find," from their LP - Drinking Man's Friend ! Love your reactions bro !✌👍
@@auburnkim1989 Lots of great memories from back in college. When I got to Macon, Gregg's brother Duane had died about a month before I got there, so it was very sad. Miss Gregg, may he RIP ! ✌👍🙏
Shon loved you reaction and your comment … it’s just good music! Ohhh yes and you are right, that kind of emoting is rare to find - you can feel it- keep Rockin’
Shon--love how you love music in general...you can tell when you notice details and show the love. Not all reactors have that to the degree you do. Appreciate ya!
2 brothers and childhood friends started this band when Toy came back from Vietnam. They got the name marshal tucker band from a key to the practice pad. The key had the name Marshal tucker labeled on it.
You're right about solos being identifiable by artist. After a while you can tell who is playing by the sound. Each style and type of guitar become identifiable.
listen to " heard it in a love song" by Marshall Tucker. One of my all time favorites. I saw them in a bar outside of Albany in the 70's and the were great!
Lead singer is Toy Caldwell..got a purple heart medal while in Viet Nam..was a marine..the other guys were there too..
This is southern rock at it's finest. The flute solo at the beginning & end is great. Love their music from the 70's. Some of their other big hits were "Fire on the Mountain" & "Heard It in a Love Song". Southern rock fiddler Charlie Daniels did quite a few collaborations with them.
Fire and Heard are freaking classics!!!! ❤❤❤
Charlie mentions them in his hit The South Gonna Do It Again.
This is like Grass Roots Southern Rock.
"Feeling some type of way" - Shon, that's exactly what good music does to you.

Well said, I have seen them three times back in the day and they just flat out bring it every time!
This is epic, pure 70's vibe. We were spoiled rotten with fantastic music!

🙂 Sounds like my Tom Petty CD. Haven't tried as hard as I could to get it out of the player, though.
Had that happen to my Mother's Finest "Another Mother Further" cd. Stayed stuck in my car player for over a month. I didn't care. I played it anyway. It finally came out and a few days later I put it back in and listened to it again.
This band is up there with Skynard and Allman Bros.
Their music is still relevant 50 years later!
I love your reactions, Shon. You truly understand the messages in everyone of our old favorites. It's probably hard to imagine, but the music sets the tone for every generation. What you hear in our old music is what was in our hearts back in the '70s. I miss that so much.

We have been listening to music like this for over 40 years. It's nice to see the younger generation appreciate this music. Southern rock
It’s called SOUTHERN ROCK ❤❤❤
Keep em coming my friend. Great reaction as always. A true music lover.....
If you want to hear some amazing flute, Jethro Tull live, anything live!
One of the great southern rock bands in action. Thanks for your reaction.
Toy was a Vietnam Nam veteran, and a purple heart recipient. He's one of a few guitarist 🎸 that didn't use a pic.
Clicking sound was his finger picking. What a talent
One of the greatest love gone wrong songs ever.Always makes me feel some of my past experiences.I think these guys are far underrated

Add the Allman Brothers Ramblin Man to your list. Studio version. You will need your air guitar for that song.
The year I was born 1973 and still one of my favorites 50 years later, enjoy
Beautiful southern rock. Good for the soul❤️

One of many songs. One of my favorite groups. New Life , Carolina Dreams Classic southern rock albums.
One of the few things SC can be proud of.
You're 100% correct! People playing instrumental solos definitely put their own flavor on it.
They Might Be Giants - Birdhouse in Your Soul
You’ll dig it.
Bruh! This is sick...😊

They are from SC and they are considered Southern Rock. I have been to their concerts and they are great! The group still tours.
They’re at the Grand Ole Opry which is like the most hallowed venue in country music

One of my all time favorite songs. Reminds me of my dad. Its an emotional one for me. Truly great song.
Another top tier reaction from a top tier reactor. You get the music and you get the lyrics and you genuinely seem to enjoy it. This was a Golden Age for music...no doubt.
I got to see these guys live in 2000....they sounded just as great that night as they did in this video.
Thanks!
Molly Hatchet pre 1984 is awesome!!! Flirtin With Disaster, Dreams I'll Never See The Rambler

Tell me you’ve reacted to the Doobie Brothers! Black Water?? It’s a start that you won’t regret. Promise.
They're from Spartanburg, SC, and they defined a whole new genre, southern rock.
When music talks to you. Embrace it. It’s yours. No one can take that away.

Actually got to see them here in Pensacola FL in the 70's at our little municipal auditorium....never ever get tired of this song! It's a classic
