This is southern rock at it's finest. The flute solo at the beginning & end is great. Love their music from the 70's. Some of their other big hits were "Fire on the Mountain" & "Heard It in a Love Song". Southern rock fiddler Charlie Daniels did quite a few collaborations with them.
Fire and Heard are freaking classics!!!! ❤❤❤
Charlie mentions them in his hit The South Gonna Do It Again.
This is like Grass Roots Southern Rock.
RIP Toy Caldwell. You’d enjoy Take the Highway and This Ol Cowboy, as well as all the others mentioned here. It’s southern rock, but they throw a blues twist in there that just hits you right where it matters. I love these guys!
Clicking sound was his finger picking. What a talent
This Ol Cowboy. Great song!
"Feeling some type of way" - Shon, that's exactly what good music does to you.
This is pure talent right here. Live and in perfect sync.
Toy Caldwell, lead guitarist, also lead singer on this song. Purple Heart recipient for the Vietnam War. Known as the fastest thumb in the south, thanks to his amazing guitar strumming. RIP. Toy. We miss you.
If you want to get into more southern rock, definitely the big three: Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, and Marshall Tucker Band.
Well said, I have seen them three times back in the day and they just flat out bring it every time!
Lead singer is Toy Caldwell..got a purple heart medal while in Viet Nam..was a marine..the other guys were there too..
This is epic, pure 70's vibe. We were spoiled rotten with fantastic music!
This is southern rock and this song is definitely a gem….loving this reaction!!!! Can u PLEASE put “Keep your hands to yourself” by the Georgia Satellites on the list?!! Thanks ❤
Keep em coming my friend. Great reaction as always. A true music lover.....
This song may be absolute perfection. There are so many things to talk about; I just want to mention the chord progression D-C-G-D. They use it over and over, and it never gets old. It's a progression that just works. Another song that uses it is the Eagles "Seven Bridges Road".
This band is up there with Skynard and Allman Bros.
Their music is still relevant 50 years later!
We’ve had that Marshall Tucker CD Stuck in our Jeep player for years, and just never cared to get it out. We call it the Marshall Tucker Truck. The whole album is fantastic. It’s nice to see young people discover them too!!!
🙂 Sounds like my Tom Petty CD. Haven't tried as hard as I could to get it out of the player, though.
Had that happen to my Mother's Finest "Another Mother Further" cd. Stayed stuck in my car player for over a month. I didn't care. I played it anyway. It finally came out and a few days later I put it back in and listened to it again.
You can’t beat the seventies and early eighties for great southern rock.
You should check out The Outlaws, Green Grass and High Tides Forever.
I don't know them as well as I should but 'Tell It To The Devil', 'Never Trust A Stranger' and 'Heard It In a Love Song' All from 1977, same album and all great Marshall Tucker Band tunes.
Something else I know you would love is 'Henry Paul Band - So Long'. 1979. Give your ears a treat sometime soon.
Cheers.
I'm so glad you enjoyed listening to "MTB" just as others have said, this is one of the best southern rock bands of this era. Here's another suggestion, if interested. "The Marshall Tucker Band - Fire On The Mountain (Live)" RIP: Toy Caldwell 💔🔥🎸U R Missed
I enjoyed chilling with you for a min, bro really great reaction thanks
Upbeat country southern rock blues ❤❤❤ LOVED your reaction; you feel the groove and dig into the lyrics; the delivery style; love it!
This is Southern rock .On the way to the hospital 43 yrs ago to have a baby this song came on the radio, and we named our son Marshall. 😍 Listen to Silverado outstanding!
Tell me you’ve reacted to the Doobie Brothers! Black Water?? It’s a start that you won’t regret. Promise.
Excellent reaction
This is one of my favorite songs. It just has it. The flute, beautiful. Love when bands then used different instruments with their guitars. The song creates an environment just where you're at. Not considered country, but rock by our generation. " can't you see?" LOL.
More flute on their "Heard it In a Love Song" - banger
This boy was certainly coming from somewhere, as he had just come home from Viet Nam. You know that ole story from the soldier, usually starts with a envelope from his woman back home, saying how loyal she is, when she is shacked up with some rich lil college boy. Yes this was the Grit only a USMC Vet can deliver.
I really enjoy your reactions!! I’m not sure why but I would get s kick outta watching you react to FUNKY COLD MEDINA!! Lol
Men aren't supposed to get hurt. If we have feelings then we aren't real men. Right?
Always great watching and listening to your reactions...honest and true! Nicely done!
Can you react to Blackfoot, the song is Train, Train.
One of the great southern rock bands in action. Thanks for your reaction.
The Marshall Tucker Band is an American Southern rock band from Spartanburg, South Carolina. Noted for incorporating blues, country, and jazz into an eclectic sound, the Marshall Tucker Band helped establish the Southern rock genre in the early 1970s...OTHER HITS INCLUDE; HEARD IT IN A LOVE SONG, AND FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN...
When working for a public utility company many years ago I had the pleasure of talking with Toy. We were both in Vietnam during the same time and enjoyed reminiscing.
Toy was a Vietnam Nam veteran, and a purple heart recipient. He's one of a few guitarist 🎸 that didn't use a pic.
Waylon wrote the song btw...back when country was about country.....MTB 's best album was their jazz oriented disk.
One of my favorite songs ever. So glad you felt the emotion of the song.
Great pick, Shon.
Same kinda feeling song? Alman Brothers. "Whipping Post"
Please try the Allman Brothers, live Whipping Post ! I'm positive you'll love it! God bless brother!
Bruh! This is sick...😊
❤❤❤
If you want to experience more of that southern rock style I would suggest Flirtin with disaster by Molly Hatchet and Teacher Teacher by 38 Special
Add the Allman Brothers Ramblin Man to your list. Studio version. You will need your air guitar for that song.
If you want to hear some amazing flute, Jethro Tull live, anything live!
We have been listening to music like this for over 40 years. It's nice to see the younger generation appreciate this music. Southern rock
You don't just listen to Marshall Tucker..You Experience them! ❤
Went to college in Macon, GA home of The Allman Brothers (at the time), welcome to Southern Rock! Another good one by MTB is "Take The Highway." Lots of great bands that recorded on The Capricorn label. A lesser known band that used to open for The Allman Brothers was called Eric Quincy Tate. They have a great song called "Things I Think I'll Find," from their LP - Drinking Man's Friend ! Love your reactions bro !✌👍
I saw the Allman Brothers in Auburn. Fantastic show. I loved when Greg Allman and Michelle Malone sang together as well. I love the Georgia vibe......
@@auburnkim1989 Lots of great memories from back in college. When I got to Macon, Gregg's brother Duane had died about a month before I got there, so it was very sad. Miss Gregg, may he RIP ! ✌👍🙏
Shon--love how you love music in general...you can tell when you notice details and show the love. Not all reactors have that to the degree you do. Appreciate ya!
I view many reaction sites and enjoy seeing the younger generation here there many great songs for the first time. You kind sir do one of the better analyses. If you want some absolutely masterful piano in a song that tells a humbling story of our divided society, try “ The Way It Is.” Bruce Hornsby. You will not regret it. Keep charging.
They Might Be Giants - Birdhouse in Your Soul
You’ll dig it.
Thanks!Ballad of Curtis Lowe please
THANKS brought me back to my HS School days
Finding this on your channel today was a great surprise. Good job with it. It definitely make people “feel some kind of way.”
I knew these guys when they were known as the toy factory. Saw them at the sitar club in Spartanburg SC.
50 spme years lster...still gives me goosebumps.
Jethro Tull uses the flute too,so did Men At Work and Canned heat. This is Southern Rock.
The 'clicking' technique on the solo at 5:03 is done by holding guitar pick tight so only the very tip is exposed to hit (in a percussive style) the string, then, at the same time, the string is semi-muted by the side flesh of the thumb, so the tone doesn't resonate as much..if ya know what i'm sayin🤘🏼
Love this song. Always thought this song was pure delta blues…
Another top tier reaction from a top tier reactor. You get the music and you get the lyrics and you genuinely seem to enjoy it. This was a Golden Age for music...no doubt.
I really look forward to your reactions everyday! I love how you feel the vibes and details of each song; your descriptions are true to individual songs, lyrics, and guitar solos! You’ve become one of my favorite reactors. Thanks for making my days better 😊
It’s called SOUTHERN ROCK ❤❤❤
Check out fire on the mountain
When music talks to you. Embrace it. It’s yours. No one can take that away.
Thanks!
Southern Rock? Can't miss
Molley Hatchet
Flirten with Disaster ! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHH YAAA!!!!!!!!!
love this band, first learned about them from working at a country themed eatery, and we had their "Capricorn Years: album on CD rotation, i dont think is a single bad song on there.
my personal favorites are "In My Own Way" "See You Later, I'm Gone" and "24 Hours" but, they treally dont have a bad song in their catalog. "Windy City Blues" is another good one too.
AAAHITHGHT PUPPY DAWG
Great reaction!!
listen to " heard it in a love song" by Marshall Tucker. One of my all time favorites. I saw them in a bar outside of Albany in the 70's and the were great!
Hey Shon how about some 38 Special. Wild Eyed Southern Boys. Live. ROCK ON 😎
They’re at the Grand Ole Opry which is like the most hallowed venue in country music
Great reCTION ! Love TOY CALDWELL .....& Marshall Tucker band ...was lucky enough to see them back in the 70s
I love your videos, Shon...I've never watched many reaction videos...but you really bring it.
Always loved this song. It brings back such memories. Are you naked? lol
They are from Spartanburg, SC. I used to go see them every Friday night at a local bar in the early 70s. They are still touring with one original member. Great band live!
Molly Hatchet pre 1984 is awesome!!! Flirtin With Disaster, Dreams I'll Never See The Rambler
Check out
Allman Brothers
Whipping Post
This is southern rock at its finest. This has been on my playlist for years. Grew up listening to southern rock all my life.
This is one of my fav songs.. it was on the radio when I was growing up and I used to sing it all the time! LOL!! Great reaction video! Thanks :)
Check out The Allman Brothers Band- Rambling Man !
*Want something on the wild side? Check out NEW YORK, NEW YORK by Nina Hagen.*
Check out "Take the Long Road Home" by Supertramp. You will not regret it. Also, Blue on Black, by Kenny Wayne Sheppard ❤🔥🔥🔥
Southern Rock (Lil County, Lil Blues) Marshall Tucker Band one of the greats
They're from Spartanburg, SC, and they defined a whole new genre, southern rock.
I was one year out of high school when this came out. There is nothing like classic and southern rock to make you feel. Since you like this I’d recommend the song Whipping Post. A GREAT southern woman done me wrong song. Mercy.
I love your reaction to this, Shon!!! Some of the very best music in history. Subscribed to you!
I loved it. You're my new favorite reactor, right there with the Cartier family. Thanks ,id like to see you react to Journey wheel in the sky, or when you love a woman,or faithfully,or any other song. Peace 😊
You're 100% correct! People playing instrumental solos definitely put their own flavor on it.
Toy Caldwell making the sound on the guitar playing with his thumb
Marshall Tucker is one of my favorites. If you liked them please react to Creedance Clearwater Revival-CCR. John Folgerty's voice will blow you away.
Check out the band Mother's Finest. Listen to their song Baby Love from the Another Mother Further album. It's 70s funk rock. You'll love it.
This is one you should enjoy. Maze Feat. Frankie Beverly - Southern Girl
My main biographical song. This is early Southern Rock era liken to Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Check out their song "Fire on the Mountain".
Bro,!!! You're the shit!! I'm diggin it! I'm with you bro, but,,,, put a shirt on man I'm just sayin'. It's mostly dudes watching you, put a shirt on please, for all the men that are diggin your vibe please put a shirt on. Love you and love your channel keep it up ❤️. But, put a shirt on.
Flute music??? Jethro Tull will slay you on Locomotive Breath!
Maybe react to Little Feat, "Fat Man in the Bathtub" or "Dixie Chicken". Another great band.
I saw Marshall Tucker in 1977 at Merriweather when i was 17, sat out in the lawn with a whole bunch of friends. Best of times.
IN MY OWN WAY Live, their Live album is Epic.
Hey Shon check out Marshall Tucker's Fire on the Mountain
I love I mean LOVE
MST best song !
" This Ol' Cowboy" its a great great song!!!
every dude can relate.
You're doing the same reactions as everyone else and they're great but you're missing so much. Try Robin Trower's " Day of the Eagle", Montrose " Bad Motor Scooter", warrior Soul "The Losers", step just a little off the beaten path
You should listen to 38 Special. Some of their songs are Fantasy Girl, Hold on Loosely, Wild Eyed Southern Boys
Check out the live version of 24 Hours at a Time. Kicks!!!!
Now you're cooking!! This is such a great song and performance.
That 'clickin'... 's the sound of him pickin' with his thumb. 'S a rare talent but it makes a hard pick sound. Watch how fast his thumb moves.
They were from the Spartanburg, S.C. area not country but close enough.
Please please please do my favorite Marshall Tucker song. It's called This Old Cowboy. But please do the studio version before you do the live version. Quite possibly the best breakup song. If I were to give any advice to a heartbroken guy it would be to get a bottle of whiskey and play this song over and over.
Need some Electric Callboy. Trust me you will love the energy.
