I love eating cod liver from a tin, by spreading it on a sourdough bread toast. It's yummy! The tin contains just about enough material for 3-4 toast slices, which is good enough for 1-2 days for one person. So, by the time I am craving for it again, there is not enough time for the oil to get rancid.
When tested, many fish oil capsules are found to be already rancid...which offsets much of the health benefits. It might be that one has to buy PRESCRIPTION fish oil with its higher purity. Unfortunately, medical fish oil usually is expensive.
Doesn't stop the cod liver oil burps though... and I sure dont take a little "Pills.." When I take cod liver oil it is by the spoon full, not by the little "rinky dinky" pills..

i take one gel cap of cod liver oil every day! i had dry skin all over and now its silky soft! i can even see a shine on my skin and at first i wondered what it was because i didnt use any cream! so if you have dry skin it will cure it!

Yes , I always swallow the pill , never chew it . The pill help to swallow . You only chew medicine tablet , because you can’t swalow it. For example : Apple Cider vinegar ( ACV) , If we use it in liquid form , we have to dilute it with water , but when drinking , it still causes hot in throat , so to avoid this uncomfortable feeling , we can buy ACV in the form of pill & swallow it .
Cod liver oil in any container that you open and close soon becomes rancid. Soft gels remain fresh since the oil is not exposed to the air. If you are consuming it all when you open the container it is fine.
Capsule or from the bottle liquid? Specifically which brand product did you use? You say daily, but we don't know for how long you took them for. Most importantly, did you make a FULL recovery from your Vitamin A toxicity? Any lingering effects?

That's why cod liver oil goes into the fridge after you open it
keep it in the fridge and buy it in small quantities. Gel caps really get stuck in my throat, repeat, and make me feel bloated.
Why not just swallow the gel caps like I do and avoid any taste altogether? They're gel caps, they dissolve easily in the stomach.
