The irony here though is that if everyone on the planet had to go organic, 80% of the total population would die of hunger in a couple of months.

I agree 100%. Four years ago I had cancer, polymyalgia and a chronic cough. After treatment for the cancer I tackled the polymyalgia and looking for a cure and not a remedy I decided to change my diet and eliminates sugar, vegetable oils, ultra-processed food and cut down on carbohydrates.
In came natural food (if it needs a label to tell you what it is avoid it) and olive oil, animal fats and tried to grow as much food as I can.
It worked. The cancer has gone, the polymyalgia has gone, the cough has gone I feel much fitter I'm doing a bit of mountaineering next week and I'm 81.

At the same time I had the very painful and disabling condition of polymyalgia so began a course of steroids. It was several months before I began to abandon sugar, vegetable oils and ultra-processed foods and then got much better but it took many months before the toxins got out of my body. This is a breath of fresh air that finally the medical community is waking up to this…
I’ve worked in and around health care for the last 24 years, 17 years in the NHS and 3 years in America at a wellness centre that specialised in reversing lifestyle diseases through diet and nutrition, with an holistic approach to health.. and my goodies it worked!
This was some 24 years ago now, when I came back to the UK i was enthusiastic to share the things that I had learned and witnessed.
24 years on i’m still as passionate about lifestyle medicine, yet deeply saddened in that we are so slow to implement change.
The NHS is being crippled, yet we are still doing the classic Einstein definition of madness, doing the same thing, yet expecting different results.
The unholy trinity of Big Pharma, Medicine and Ultra Processed foods has created a sick society.
We sell crap 💩 and people eat that crap 💩 and they feel crap 💩 yet our government will not take these products off of our shelves! Money 💰 is out before health and then we look for the next wonder drug to fix things!
The solutions are simple, though sadly they come at a cost to the people who work in these industries and the poorest people will always be affected by any closures to these companies.
The build back better mantra we heard from the government! why oh why did they not use that time to educate people on health and wellness, rather than sending them into a pit of despair…
It’s time people came together to demand a better health care system and those like myself who work in it to make some noise and stop putting profit before people!
Make organic food cheaper as after all it’s not getting the glyphosate and other chemical sprayed on it..
Have community green houses, poly tunnels for locals to be able to get fresh produce from, instead of food banks!

Good video. I started eating low carb/Keto 2 years ago following Dr. Eric Westman's Phase 1 food list. I just woke up one day and decided I needed to do something to get healthier so I wouldn't die after losing 2 sisters to cancer and having to take my younger brother off life support because of a large venous thrombosis on his brain after surgery, he had suffered multiple small strokes due to type 2 diabetes. I also lost my Mom who had Alzheimer's to pancreatic cancer. I wasn't ready to die. The first day after following the diet all my sugar cravings went away. I was so shocked because I loved carbs and candy. I lived on carbs, pasta, sandwiches, porridge, oatmeal, lots of fruit and it made me fat. Over the last 2 years by cutting the carbs low, 20 whole grams of carbs per day, eating nutritious food, low sugar fruit in season, 2 cups of leafy greens which included cabbages, and 1 cup low carb vegetables this diet worked for me. I cut out seed oils, use only butter, avocado or extra virgin olive oil. I substitute hearts of palm angel hair for pasta, Chaffles for bread(cheese and egg waffles made on a mini waffle maker) Except in winter I buy my fruit and vegetables in season from local farm stands. I also use hearts of palm rice substitute. I eat 2 meals a day, I am rarely hungry and never have the need to snack in between meals. I couldn't believe how easy this way of eating is. I also lost the fat and weight without doing much exercise because I was also recovering from a broken back. The fat just melted off, I went from a size 3x to L, haha I lost my large backside and my tummy flattened. I have advanced to Dr Westman's Phase 2 food list which gives me a few more carbs but I tend to stay on Phase 1. His book End Your Carb Confusion available on Amazon is an amazing book and includes the food lists. I don't follow internet Keto influencers that aren't real medical Doctors on You Tube, I don't like artificial sweeteners or Stevia and it seems a lot of these people focus on desserts which I don't feel the need to eat. Sure I have something not good for me now and then, like a dessert on my birthday or a couple of homemade shortbreads at Christmas but for the most part I just don't eat desserts. I have 25 more pounds I want to lose but this way of eating in the most healthiest for me and I will continue it. I still get to eat cheese, avocados, olives, meat, bacon all nutritious foods that don't come with a list of ingredients. If I was Type 2 diabetic there would be no way I would take medication when the food you eat will reverse it along with other metabolic diseases.

Docs definitely need to wake up! I started keto 5 years ago at 53, suddenly (5 days) my joints stopped aching and creaking. I lost 50 lbs in 16 months. Started a new career as a handyman which helps keep me strong and limber (and tired so sleep comes easily).
I recently changed docs and after some bloodwork she wanted to start me on a statin with an LDL of 116. Didn't ask about my diet or lifestyle, totally ignored my TC of 190, HDL 65, triglycerides 75. I had to point out that my HDL/TC ratio was considered ideal, and that my LDL was likely more fluffy than dense considering I don't eat carbs or sugar. Asked for and received a referral for a CAC to detect plaque. Virtually none.
My doc actually handled it pretty well - even thanked me for taking such an active role in my own health.🤔 But said she was REQUIRED to suggest the statin given my LDL level. You really have to educate yourself nowadays, or the doctors will usher you right onto the Pharma train!

Two of my favourite doctors of common sense together having a discussion, what a joy! Im not a doctor, but if I hadn't gone another path in my life, I have always been interested in nutrition. I was born in the Uk and left when I was 22 and went to live in Denmark for 33 yrs. When I came back to the UK, I have been back for 8 yrs now, and I was horrified to see many people my age, Im 64, on big medication, people on four wheeled scooters and the amount of obese young people in their twenties and even children I was horrified. So I started to look into it. My own experience in Denmark even to the present day, is that the general population there aren't overweight. The ultra processed food is still not the norm, its coming, but much slower than in the Uk. The Danes still cook from scratch, they eat a lot of rye bread. The only negative was the introduction of Rapeseed oil and the Danes produce a lot. You could see the changes in the landscape with these yellow flowering plants. Then they were the biggest producers in Europe for pork and had a big scandal a few yrs back of using too much antibiotics in the pork industry, so luckily they have pulled back on that due to antibiotic residence to the next chain which is humans. So to get an antibiotic in Denmark now, unless you are very ill, is like asking for heroin. So my own experience has shown from experiencing two different countries is, that unless we cook from scratch, we are doomed. Another thing I have noticed is, it is cheaper to cook from scratch. I was lucky my mother and grandmother had those skills and I have continued to do that and my daughters do the same. So I think we have to have this knowledge in schools for the generations to come to be able to do. Another thing I will add, is that I really think these seed oils are so bad. My cousin was a doctor and she began using these seed oils believing it was healthier in the 1990s due to the hype then. She didn't smoke or drink and she died five yrs ago from colon cancer. I know cancer is a complex disease, but I can't help thinking that seed oils didn't help. I wish I knew.

I finally realized this around 2018. I have always preferred whole, minimally processed foods, all of my years. As of this post I am one month shy of becoming 66 years old. Don’t get me wrong, I have had eaten some bad “food” in my day, Pop Tarts, Cheerios with added sugar, cake occasionally… But, since 2018 my wife and I have gone “Au Natural” when it comes to food. Real food! No sugar. When we do eat grains it is organic, whole wheat grain that I grind myself and use in my homemade sourdough breads. We will occasionally eat organic pasta imported from Italy. In both instances of the grains, we will incorporate a fat (usually EVOO) on them. I have lost 70 pounds, am no longer on any medications, even my COPD is hardly a problem anymore. My waistline is 32” at 5’11” and I feel great.
I look around me at all these morbidly obese American and am dumbfounded at their refusal to see the fact that the government works in cahoots with big food and big Pharma to make us sick, keep us sick, and kill us at a young age. All for money. Not this guy baby. I love to cook real, healthy, satiating food. My wife and our friends love it too, but for some reason none of them follow our lead and adopt a low carb, intermittent fasting, healthy food only, diet. Too bad for them. Knowledge is power…if you adapt the knowledge into practical application.

The addiction aspect of food is reflected in how children behave when they cannot have their sodas and their junk food. Tantrums, angry outbursts, tearful meltdowns and even violence can be seen. That is addiction, and I suspect that the behavior problems we see in the classroom can often be attributed to what they ate for breakfast and blood sugar issues, need for caffeine and sugar highs. The dyes and other products in junk cereals are disguised in terms of what it will do to mood. Energy drinks are another rabbit hole, filled with caffeine and sugars.

In June of this year I stopped eating all processed sugars (small portions of fruit was fine) and I stopped eating all ultra high processed foods. Because honestly, I was miserable. I started cooking everything from scratch, with good veggies and lots of protein, and didn't touch ANYTHING that had any flavour enhancers as an ingredient. The first two weeks were a nightmare as sugar withdrawal after three decades of being a sugar junkie is just that, a damn nightmare. But I slowly started losing weight WIHTOUT having to do any sports or without eating less, astonishingly, and my head felt like someone had just removed a thick wrapping of cotton wool from around it. My thoughts felt so much clearer, I was sleeping and feeling so incredibly better. The old adage of "you are what you eat" is so effing true.
