I remember asking my doctor a question about a dietary issue. He answered: ‘Ya know I spent years in medical school studying to get my degree… We spent about twenty minutes covering nutrition!’ Then he continued, ‘We don’t practice preventative medicine to KEEP you healthy - we only treat you AFTER you get sick. That’s the *business model* of modern American medicine.’

Exactly!! Keep people sick and on pills. If they don't fix the problem, they know that you will be returning to the office again. And if they don't keep you on pills then they don't get to get those kickbacks from pharmaceuticals and trust me they get big ones. I used to be an office manager of a medical facility and I opened checks for my doctors. They spent one hour doing a talk somewhere and they got $6,000 for that 1 hour of talk- pushing their medication. The pharmaceutical called wraps would come in and would give them tickets for cruises, vacations, for golf events, football events, anything that they want they get. I have attended lunches with the reps and seen them with their laptops out saying well doctor so and so you only wrote 300 prescriptions for our medicine this month. What's wrong? Why is that so I don't care what the state laws are they get away with doing that?.

Thats the Truth, and wisdom of a true practitioner; be it sickness, social issues, violence, including gun violence, we need to inject a moderate approach, the limits to our wants, our consumption, and what is good to our body and minds! and to us as a society! Prevention is better than cure! There’s some truth in it! Truth is universal and cuts across different affiliations, thoughts and ideologies!

They also know that we often don’t do the things in our best interest even if we know. We know that a decent diet and regular exercise are the keys to health but is most Americans out taking jogs, eating right, and sleeping? Nope, so just be ready to fix them later

I had colon cancer surgery (3) this last August. I'm doing GREAT now since I'm refusing chemo. After the surgery my idiot doctor had the nerve to tell me no restrictions to my diet. Thank the dear Lord I know better. I read the label of everything I eat and take only homeopathic remidies. I look and feel fabulous !!!

At 72, I suddenly had terrible pain in my toes, instep, plantar, heel, ankle and knees of both legs. Every step was jarringly painful. The weight of a sheet and bedspread was heavy enough at night to wake me up in pain it was causing to my toes and feet. And I also had pain in my fingers, wrists and elbows. It got worse. I felt stiffness in my hands, couldn't make a fist or even feel when I was holding something. All joints were Xrayed and a blood test prior to the appointment with an arthritis specialist. He confirmed that I had osteo arthritis and swollen inflammation in all of the joints of my arms and legs. I asked why and what could be done to stop or even delay these day and night pains. He smiled and said that nothing could be done. Osteo Arthritis is 'normal wear and tear'. I went back to my GP, a DO, who suggested that I try a plant based diet - no processed foods, no meat, no dairy, no eggs/cheese, etc. Changing my diet for the reason of lessening pain seemed like a change I was willing to try. - A month after changing to a plant based diet, All of my arthritis symptoms and pain were gone! Two years later, they still have not yet returned. I learned that I can eat some fish, shrimp, crab without affecting my health. But a couple forkfulls of turkey or chicken will cause pain in my hands or knees within 12 hours. So, it's easy to not "cheat" with a price to pay for going back to my former diet that caused all this inflammation and irritation within my body..... (PS - I was schedule for cataract surgery on my left eye. A year into going "plant based", my cataract cleared and I no longer qualify for SSA authorized cataract surgery. - Supposedly there is no way to stop or improve cataract damage.)

Thank you, great story and I believe it, we are what we eat. I haven’t tried eating only plant based food, to be honest the thought of it spins me out. 😫 However I’m full of aches and pains. I’m celiac so my diet is already limited. If I get glutened, usually by eating out, my pain is much worse. Thank for sharing, I’m happy it worked for you. 😊

I had all the same problems started with gout diagnoses and went on to arthritis, leaky gut, IBS, colitis and on and one. multiple medications. Was about to go on permanent disability. A naturopath moved into my community and was setting up shop and I called him. He was setting up shop and said he could not see me right away. He said he would take my phone number and call me. If I stood up off the couch my heart would race to 105BPM while I was just standing there. TRied to touch my toes one evening and heart raced to 176 for 8 min-just standing there. Snuck out of my home ten pm to shuffle/stagger around the block for air. THe naturopath,s office was just around the corner and he was changing a light bulb outside. I introduced myself and showed him my fit bit. my heart was doing 108 BPM. He agreed to see me right away. Two days later he called me and I went to see him. He checked me out and took a small sample of blood from my ear lobe. Called me next day and said I was intolerant to potato,s. Quit potato,s and most of my maladies went away. Talked to my physician of 30 years about titrating off all the pharmaceutical,s I was on. He had a temper tantrum and said naturopaths are a bunch of quacks. I have not talked to the physician since. The naturopath was like an angel from heaven who lifted me out of 30 years of misery.

TY for reviving what I knew as a child. When i was growing up in the South Bronx NYC we ate vegetable form the green grocer street and they got their veggies from truck farms in the north Bronx. The framer egg man sold eggs laid that morning. The eggs were in an iron a multi-tiered basket and you picked the ones you wanted. And they were cooked the same day. In mild seasons veggies and fruit was sold from the back of trucks. Eaten the same day. The meat was from a butcher, some kosher, some not, and never any hot dogs. Bread was from the German or Jewish bakery. I am 80 years old. TY We were relatively poor, that is, all necessities provided but no vacations or camps ever. We could not even afford a bike. But our block culture was marvelously active and creative. The adlts held a kind of English music hall in the middle of the block - dancing, classical music (holocaust survivors and Russian refugees), poetry, comedy skits, some a little risque. No bulyling, mixed ages hanging out. At school we got post cards from the Met Museum showcasing certain pieces of art and the artists. Then we went to the museum to see those works of art. Some of the art was reproduced during our multi block chhalk art competition. We kids in mixed age groups often visted the museums on our own. The guards knew us. At one time as a kid I could tell where everything was at the Met. BTW, our block had the reputation for the bets athletes. And some black kids regularly came to our Euro immigrant block (mainly Irish-Jewish but also others)..

I suffered from major anxiety and panic attacks so I can relate. At one point I was housebound. One brave day I went into a mall to challenge myself. I found a book on anxiety and it talked about an essential oil. I bought both and started that night. Sorry that was almost 30 years ago and I’ve lost the book. . I was so impressed with what one oil did for me I went to school at a local Canadian college and earned a Diploma in essential oils. Post grad studies in aromatic kinesiology and just recently started studying the use of essential oils for pets. Now I have to get back on a strict eating plan and get the inflammatory foods totally out of my life. I walk every day. Drink 8 glasses of water - used to hate water. I lost 85 lbs and 6 months post op, had an A ++ blood work result, ZERO anxiety and depression now. I walk about 5 to 7 miles, 5 times a week, and now I am physically and mentally the healthiest I've ever been in my 30 years of life. I still have 15 lbs to go for my perfect BMI. My only life regret is not doing this lifestyle change earlier in life. I still can't believe how bad my anxiety and depression have been until now. I always comment that this is what "normal" mental health feels like??? I've never felt this mentally healthy in my entire life. Yes, my body physically feels better, but my I am more excited about my mental health, hands down 100% ❤🎉😊

Keto diets are not the worst diets. The diet is often improperly administrered. Too many folks are allowed to go into high levels of ketosis and the body can't detox the ketones fast enough leading to illness due to ketone toxicity. In addition, some folks either may not possess or have a low level of the enxymes needed to detox the ketones. The diet is more approprite for folks with neurodegenerative and autoimmune disorders, pain and cancer. The diet plan is very effective when administered and managed by a knowledgeable clinician. Those interested in ketogenic meal plans ought to seek the guidance of a clinician certified in functional medicine. No shade, but your typical MD and DO are often biased and aren't gonna be able to help you with this.

Since hubby and I started buying our meat from a local farmer, we are eating about half the amount of meat at each meal and feel more satiated. The meat also tastes and smells better than anything we can buy at a grocery store. We have less waste also. It more than offsets the higher cost of the meat. Ultimately we feel better and hardly ever go to the doctor for anything.

I am a high school teacher and see so many teens struggling with mental health. Sadly, kids have little control over the food that is served to them at home and at school. Many of my students live in low income situations where healthy food is simply not available, especially those with omega 3 FA.
I wish school lunch programs had the funds to offer more nutritious food, and or could serve a “Jetson’s” type pill with all of the nutrients these kids desperately need. It is crazy that in a country with a massive obesity problem, people are nutritionally starving.

.There are other factors besides gluten which will impact rheumatoid arthritis such as boron deficiency. I researched inflammatory foods when my hip started hurting from arthritis. I found an article from a Dr. He stated he tells new patients to go gluten free for 1 week - better? Try 2 weeks - better? Try 3 weeks. If you're feeling pretty good at this point make it a life style choice. I did & never regretted it. I don't have to avoid gluten completely but choose to do so as much as possible to remain pain free. Also, I woke up 1 morning with 1 finger throbbing, red joint & bending. I remembered an article on boron, found it & decide to try it. I took 3 mg pill daily - after 2 days the redness & pain subsided, by the 3rd day my finger stopped any further bending. I took it for for 6 weeks. I continue to take a 3 mg pill 1-2 times a week to ensure I don't get a boron deficiency. That started in 2014 - to date, no other fingers or other joints have gotten arthritis.

This entire discussion is literally the most common sense thing to anybody who has ever found themselves in a debilitating depression. I’m not talking about just a little sadness, because you are lonely or your partner broke up with you, I have always been an extremely healthy person, drank tons of green tea eating the right foods, and I have also been always very athletic and fit, I grew up as a wrestler and my dad also and my mom are pretty skinny people so I never had to work too hard to maintain my six pack. Two years ago, my life went entirely upside down, within six months I fractured several bones in my hand which sent me into a major depression because I couldn’t do what I love which was play guitar and write songs, then after that several other things happen where I met this terrible girl, got fired from my job, and because of the trauma and mental state I ended up accidentally giving myself a chemical burn on my face, I put on so much weight and age myself and these past few months and years I am almost unrecognizable to the person I was before all this happened. Despite getting back into the gym and working out a lot more, it is still hard to lose the weight because my mental health is still not all there as my hand still constantly bothers me I am embarrassed by the mark on my face that left, and obviously the pain and regret of what transpired with this girl.

The instructors voice is very soothing and pleasant to listen to. I am easily able to sit successfully through the entire CD, and for quite some time after. I cannot adequately express how tremendously helpful this CD has been on my spiritual journey!! Two thumbs up and 10 stars!

It’s great he’s teaching people because just because he’s able to handle New York City doesn’t mean he can handle every city in the United States of America. It’s awesome that he’s smart enough to realize he needs to share his wisdom. It would be nice if he could even share it with the basic homeowner that just wants to grow their own food. I have a garden in Michigan but it had only last me a few months of eating. I have known several performers over my lifetime but they never grew people food. They grew livestock food. Always grew hay, corn, maybe some soy beans. I’m not a soy person. The corn is used for livestock and ethanol gasoline.

Scrape off topsoil to plant wheat--no one repaired the land, 24 century food policy - Greed ruined our country.

Almost all were soy based and had no food cont🎉ent. I was able to find one that was pea protein and other foods after a long search. Good morning Joann⚙💗 It hurt to hear what you are at a cross roads with being able to enjoy food. You are a brave Lady. Used to love cooking and baking. Really hope you haven't had to give anything else. When ever i talk to my doctor, he admits that they don't spend time learning health through diet. Actually get nauseated seeing some of the crap people put in their mouths. Fortunately, i don't live in a community . Temptation is out there. Sincerely hope you enjoy a god quality of life. Wishing good things for you in the New Year! Have had a unbelievable year with misfortune, starting with a compund fracture on my ankle. A steel cable and a dog running flat out. 3 surgeries 3 different areas. Have always cared for the seniors, now the numbers say i am a senior. All this at once has really set me back. I am mobile now and trying fo get full use of my shoulder. For some reason i recieved quality gold care💗.Living in the country, growing our own food, hunting and fishing . I believe, being fiercely independent stirred them to help us stay on our hobbie farm, rather than need gov't housing. Doing good, as i have the love of partner and critters. Wishing you better health !!💗💗 p.s. it appears those liquid " boosts etc" are to fatten failing health.....i wouldn't touch to my lips. They just fill ill people, not concerned of the lack of nutrition. Cancer loves sugar. It made me chuckle to hear it referred to as a recreational drug. There was a time when homemade cookies, cakes etc. were my daily go to helping me keep going having 3 jobs.

Great to hear the microbiome conversation shared here, and the truth that food is medicine. Quantity and dosage is the most important aspect. 🌱 Herbs for instance are intense and balanced meals across the day to week to month and seasons are key. We have to consider households knowing nutrition as a matter of fact, plus how to grow foods and proper animal husbandry. We lerned it at primary school and somehow the connection has been lost. Consider aqua culture of seafood can be done inland and trucks that travel with green leafy vegetables already occurs in Australia. Water and the way we care for it matters just as much too. Get your hands into the garden have fun and enjoy Happy health.😊👌

I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2012
I have friends diagnosed around the same time that have already died.
I quit using the barrage of insane pharmaceuticals, at first because I had to keep my disease a secret out of fear for losing my job (which turned out to be a valid fear), and found ways of dealing with my symptoms naturally or with readily available things
Over the years I've found that those drugs were equal to or worse than the disease itself.
Today, I'm 43 years old in 2023 and still no one notices unless I have an episode of spasms or dizziness in public which is rare, though it's becoming more evident as my right arm is losing functionality.
I have been focusing on detox for the last 5 years to promote cell regeneration and therefore attempt to regrow more cells than are damaged by my immune system
So far it's doing me well, even though I've been without treatment or even a neurologist for years
I REALLY appreciate information like this

I have been studying the effects of coffee of which 74% of Americans are consuming on a daily basis and as of yesterday, I was one of them. I had heard coffee is a diuretic but never really knew what that meant in depth or what exactly that means for our body. The diuretic in coffee basically causes the body to send a signal to the pituitary gland to inhibit the production of the hormone ADH, which in turn causes the kidney to not reabsorb water. This will increase the excretion of water via urine. Thus, not only are we dehydrating our kidneys and our bodies, but we are actually excreting any water soluble vitamins and minerals that we may be consuming. When you drink a cup of coffee it can take up to 10 hrs to leave your system. Think about that for a minute. Not only are we inhibiting our ability to absorb water into the body, we are losing valuable nutrients. It’s crazy to think what we are doing to ourselves if we are drinking coffee on a daily basis. I believe this can lead to many of our current autoimmune diseases as caffeine can also put constant stress on our adrenals, which eventually leads to a fatigued immune system. I would love any feedback on this as I feel it is an important topic affecting many of us in ways we are not aware. 29:38

Yo, this is such a sick ass video!
I'm an ret. Army vet and suffered from PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and TBI..
Along with a bunch of chronic pain.
Back in February I started reading up on the link between the gut biom and the Vegas nerve for treating mental health and chronic pain..
In March I started with adding in a couple shits of kabucha, kifir or prebiotic a day. Then after a month I started having more energy and loss 10lbs.. in may, I started taking aloe vera juice and focusing on getting my amino acids up. I cut out 85% of my processed food and about 80% of my sugar intake.. i lost 20lbs and had so much more better mental clarity, energy lvl increased again.. by June I wasn't showing any signs of depression, ptsd.. I started taking some fungi extract supplements to help with attention and brain power.. don't know if that's helping with anything in the gut but I can tell my brain likes it.. sure helps with some of my TBI symptoms.. anyways, I started my journey of treating myself through diet in Feb at 205lbs fat slob that has not left my house for 7mo.. now 6mo later I'm 170lbs, feeling good and just want to keep improving.. and losing weight definitely helps up energy lvl for more activities and exercise..
If anyone has any other tips I could get, let me know.. thanks! Free range, grass fed for the win!
