I'm really happy with all of the SMN changes... EXCEPT! I'm disappointed that Phoenix isn't really that different from Bahamut. I would have preferred something entirely different. Not that it matters because I will be switching mains to DNC, but still.

qns! do you still have the "BAHAMUT STOP MOVING" issue? i've noticed from this vid and the yoshi-p interview that you move around a lot now but i remember like, if you move a lot and bahamut moves with you, akh morh delays once you do the input.
I would say the issue might be less present due to the fact that you won't be able to proc Wyrmwave off of abilities, meaning you won't be trying to weave 14-15 Wyrmwaves and 2 Akh Morns. So that would make it somewhat easier for Bahamut to do the Akh Morn since he won't be trying to do so many things so quickly.
So. It looked like that smn medica 2 was like 400 hp a tic. That seems kinda pointless when you have 66k hp honestly. Though the rest of the changes look really fun!
I mean this isnt meant to be a heal on its own, if the party is taking bad damage your Medica II type heal can assist the healers just enough since its 20 seconds and that adds to 8000 health which is enough to stop an attack from killing
Surprised you didn’t mention one of the bigger changes where the pets don’t take damage anymore. This completely changes the tanky summons. How do they work now?
Why would we? They know the story of Phoenix and we agreed to take that secret to our grave unanimously in regards to the general public. Only ones we have to keep secrets to is literally everyone except the twins.
I restarted playing free trial, ACN having very early Fester makes fights way faster than before. And extra Ruin damage from stacking DOTs makes them more interesting. Feels a bit awkward doing Lv 15 quest tho, since it used to be putting Carbuncle as a tank lol.
I find it interesting(?) that they made the Egi cast instant, but took away Contagion. Swapping for Contagion before Demi-Bahamut (especially when you could time casting it with a jump or other break in the fight so you lost not uptime) was a huge dps gain. And then you could SC back to Ifrit if you trusted your party not to die and need a raise. But now there's really not many reasons to swap? Unless, like you said, there might be a fight with an add phase... or you're running a dungeon and swapping between big pulls and boss fights. I figured out a lot of what you explained via the many, many leaks that have been floating around, but the thing that surprised me the most from your video was the change to how Wyrmwave is proc'd. I also had no idea we'd get 4 AF per minute. Like everyone else, I guess I just assumed the cooldown timer for whatever the new mechanic was would stay the same. I think it's awesome that Phoenix pops out WITH you when you go into trance, and part of me is now thinking that's almost definitely what they'd do with Demi-Bahamut later on if they plan on adding another greater summon. Curious for all the lore reasons behind the changes. Pleasantly surprised that they changed how you use Bane. Even a 10-second cooldown isn't HORRIBLE if you botch it. Also, it took me DAYS to make the connection that Outburst was just a rebranded Tri-Bind. DAYS. And I thought it was hilarious when I figured it out. Then I saw more leaked abilities and realized that they're conserving space by 'converting' spells into Phoenix versions. Another reason why the lore reasons will interest me. Guess they really are conserving space. One other thing I worry about is how 'difficult' this class is going to be -- what's the spread going to be across all players? I always felt like the timing of Demi-Bahamut against the timing of the rest of your group was one of the biggest challenges. But, with not needing AF for Demi-Bahamut, that gives you a lot more freedom. Thank you for the analysis! I'm now even more excited to try it for myself.
Im not sure about Summoner bcs lol queues, but i really suggest first players to play arcanist (if they are interested in magic ofc) due to the shared level between SCH and SMN. Also arcanist first levels is hella fast thanks to Fester somehow dropped into lv 18 and Energy Drain gives Aetherflow stack so their damage is huge. Back then we're stuck with Aetherflow->Energy Drain and mindlessly Ruin.
Hi I only leveled SMN to 34 in shadowbringers before switching to healer full time, so looking back at all of these old Summoner mechanics is both nostalgic and alien at the same time.
So, I just now started playing Summoner. I Boosted Scholar to level as a healer, and decided to work on Summoner on the side, and I fell in love with it. And seeing these changes makes me even more excited. Won't be my main, but Damn this looks fun.
Unless elemental resistance makes a comeback, which is doubtful unless they find something in doing Eureka to make it maybe a thing again - I feel like I get what they wanted to do with Titan but didn't do it well enough. Ifirit seems to be your single target damage, Garuda AoE focused a bit more, and tried to make Titan a middle ground with some defensive but it honestly doesn't look like it will work. I think they should change Ifirit's Inferno there to be just a AoE circle with the DoT. I can't read the top Titan skill name - I'm guessing Rock Buster - maybe make that a single target damage down (maybe 10%?) , Make Earthen Armour apply to all nearby players (likely helping Tanks/Melee DPS a bit more than ranged unless close), make Mountain Buster an AoE version of Rock Buster (maybe 5% damage down?) and Earthen Fury maybe an AoE stun that lasts a few seconds depending on CD - Still keeps Titan as sort of the "crowd control" pet that can help tanks - with it being that you say use on a large AoE pull Earthen Armour, Mountain Buster, Earthen Fury to stun while Garuda swap unless after swap you wanna use the Garuda big AoE, Slipstream, spam Aerial Slash/the other skill I can't read for Garuda up top, then back to Titan to re-up the damage down every 10-20 seconds and if needed/lazy the shield and then back to Garuda. With single Target being the same thing except Rock Buster instead of Mountain cause single target and Ifrit instead of Garuda. It encourages the use of the insta-swap of summons as every few seconds your swapping out one for Titan, the other based on single target or AoE, and Titan is still unique while becoming more the "Tanks Assistant" as it can no longer actually tank by lowering the damage the tank or party members take.
So at 6:42 you're saying that Evergale effect from Garuda's egi asssault 2 if buffing the potency of Ifrit's egi assault 2 ? Or is it something else ? Unsure if I missed it but have we lost contagion aka our 10% magic damage debuff ?

I was liking summoner up until I realized they put the pet skills it'd cast into me casting it. That was enough for me to shelve SMN until that is reversed. Just to many damned skills to push and I can't keep up and dodge mechanics. They fucked SMN for me and possibly forever.
can you confirm if the egi assaults can be used in the middle of one of your casts like current pet actions on obey? Or do we have to weave egi assaults?

I was super duper worried about Summoner going into the expansion. Worried that we'd just be Bard 2, but this dispelled all my fears. I'm super happy with this and I can't wait to play it now. Clearly defining Garuda as the AoE pet while Ifrit single targets is great. And Titan seems to have gone exactly the direction I expected him to. I'm definitely feeling good about going into the expac as a Summoner now.

Nope, BLM is op and was buffed, RDM is op because of dual cast, can cure and instantly res, SMN is average dps plus a weird mixture of things: pet + summon + dot + spell + blue magic/monster skill? Is average on a wide range of things while other magical dps are excellent on a small skill set. Also egis are ugly.
Ima switch pets after bahamut summon so it feels like my carbuncle are awakening into their true forms ;) Just for fun Emerald (garuda) > Bahamut Ruby (Ifrit) > Phoenix
Now all they need to do is make garuda, titan, and ifrit proper summons and get far away from the egis... actually im surprised smn hasn't gotten a trait to upgrade egis to demi summons especially considering how great the reception to demi bahamut has been.
can finally play a summoner the biggest turn off was all things you had to press just keep your dps up, especially telling your pet to obey I'm glad the pets are smart now you don't have to worry

I was unsure if Summoner was worth pursuing first as a new player. This has persuaded me.
Is fun to play (at least for me) but if you are aiming to end game optimization is probably gonna demand more than the other jobs do

Garuda's Egi Assault 2 does 220 total potency, but Ifrit's Assault 2 only does 110, is what he was saying.

What`s your thought about Skillspeed SMN for Shb ?? i see so much indicators that it could rly rock :D with the changes to demi-pets and the like 50 sec in the new 2 min loop were SMN is sure to only spam instants the reduce in GCD could rly be amazing :D

Nope, BLM is op and was buffed, RDM is op because of dual cast, can cure and instantly res, SMN is average dps plus a weird mixture of things: pet + summon + dot + spell + blue magic/monster skill? Is average on a wide range of things while other magical dps are excellent on a small skill set.
Also egis are ugly.

I might wait to level my summoner past lvl 50 then since I dont wanna get old mechanics engraved in me again

Now all they need to do is make garuda, titan, and ifrit proper summons and get far away from the egis... actually im surprised smn hasn't gotten a trait to upgrade egis to demi summons especially considering how great the reception to demi bahamut has been.

can finally play a summoner the biggest turn off was all things you had to press just keep your dps up, especially telling your pet to obey I'm glad the pets are smart now you don't have to worry
