Fray: I left for literally five minutes to get a drink
so they turned dark arts into a passive thing that is helpful that's good, gave us an aoe rotation very nice, we can summon our inner darkness, and we have an inner release of our own...I love it so much!

Dude im rerolling to DRK from WAR. Only reason i was war was cause inner release. I'm so excited DRK got their own inner release.

No changes to Living Dead? Well... Knowing your main rotation now includes Souleater I don't see much of a problem regaining HP back

Legit sad that Dark Passanger is gone. It's actually a really good skill. On 2 or more targets, it's a DPS gain per MP spent VS if you would spend the MP on anything else when 2 or more targets are present.
@@mommozz123 Technically I guess it's replaced with Flood of Darkness, which now I'm starting to realize we lost like 10 skills and replaced about 7 of them. I'm honestly bummed sole survivor is gone.
Gonna miss the animation of Power Slash. It was like the coolest weaponskill.

So. Basically DRK is now WAR, just worse. Not sure what is hype about that.
I just started ffxiv about two months ago. I started as DRG until I beat the MSQ. I then switched and leveled NIN. I recently switched to DRK and beat Heavensward. Man, I love tanking! And they look awesome. Had such a blast with the first DLC. Starting Stormblood when I get off later. So psyched!
Living Shadow needs to be up to 30 or 35 sec because it didnt use it first skill until after 6 sec it was summon
So, Larryzaur, idk if you're still bound to a contract but I'd like to get your opinion on something that is worrying me as a DRK main. What do you think DRK's identity as a tank is? WAR is the offense driven one, PLD is the protection, GNB is specializing in a lot of speed and on the spot mitigation... What is DRK's identity now that it has WAR's inner release and only 2 skills to worry about mana with? Also how does SE expect me to know what attacks are magic @.@
Well, I'm not Larry, but as DRK main I'd say DRK has been the middle ground between WAR and PLD, having offensive and defensive capabilities of their own. But with GNB incoming and changes made to prior tanks, we just have to wait and see, if DRK's only identifying traits will be edginess and magic mitigation. I settle on being DARKNESS with greatsword.

When you start dancing Fray should either 1) Start dancing with you, or 2) Do the /huh or /upset animation at you :D "What the heck, you summoned me just for this"

I don't like that the shadow does random attacks. Knowing my luck it will just spam unleash at the boss.

So from what I gathered as a tank main (mostly play DRK though cause I love it's balance between the current two) is they are pushing a hard balance between the 4 with the tank stance and the similar potencies of DPS sure they look fancy but it's like a piece of other tanks I'm sure it'll balance out I hope but looking now it just feels like all 4 can roughly do the same thing just with different animations idk still gonna play it regardless lol
Can’t wait for a bunch of DRKs to get together in pvp to have what would basically be a stand battle but with bigass swords and linkin park.

You say that you think we will like the changes Larry, but all I keep hearing from others on Discord and the forums is how bad it is because of trivial things like "Only one combo?" or "Only AoE Magic Def. CD?" I think most of the western playerbase just can't be happy with anything on the game.

I know this is late,, but I will forever miss Dark Passenger and low cooldown Abyssal Drain. They still gave Drk a line AOE attack, so I don't understand why they didn't let Dark Passenger fill that role. The new line AOE doesn't look or sound nearly as satisfying.

I used to hate Dark Knight. Then, 5.0 came and I now start to main Dark Knight....on another character....having to go through the Main Quest Story on that new character -.- but was worth it.
Square making it so hard to pick which tank to main during story content.

The shadow still does not do anything for like 7 seconds while the timer gets eaten up by the animation, same as the job actions vid. Hmmmm

I think the shadow should copy what you're doing seeing it use AOE skills on a single target triggers me
abyssal drain is technically AoE but now it's an OGCD you just spam with your other stuff when it comes off cooldown so... technically Frey is doing it right...

Living shadow works pretty lame. Summons a shadow for 24 seconds , but it takes 4 seconds to actually spawn , so he is useful for an effective of 20 seconds

Been a DRK main since it was released in HW, and I'm hyped and sad for this version of it.
From the looks of it, its going to play A LOT slower than before, but it does look fun.
It honestly kind of feels like a Warrior clone now though. Im hoping when I get my hands on it I'm proven wrong but it also feels like they raised the skill floor pretty hardcore for this class with these changes.
Still can't wait to play it though.

Living Shadow says 24 second duration, but he doesn't actually start doing anything until it's down to 19 seconds :I
that shadow needs adjustment. 10 of those 24 seconds it's doing nothing.
Am I mistaken in the fact that Dark Knights are the only tanks without a cheat death mechanic now?
weird that the living shadow timer already starts ticking the moment his spawn animation plays. And a slight delay before the AI launches the first attack. So technically only 17secs of uptime base on the video

TBN proccing Dark Arts is perfect. My main complaint with old DRK was that TBN just granted you another Bloodspiller *yawn* but now, it's actually very interesting to use.
