Maybe just my take, but monk doesn’t really have two separate combos; you can use either of the two abilities available at that particular form (ignoring the AoE skills). You determine which to pick based on consuming/building the Leaden Fist buff, Twin Snakes damage buff uptime, and Demolish DoT; the last two are on different timers so there’s not a set combo order.

@@youfailed3089 Yeah, that's what Blue Mage does here too... the big issue is that their level cap is lower than everyone else (20 whole levels lower!) and they can't sign up for the dungeon matchmaking service. Part of the reason they work like this is due to that main gimmick you mentioned, and how it doesn't mesh with the way other classes work. All level 50 Monks/Samurai/Scholar/etc. have the same spells and abilities each level, so it all comes down to player skill. BLU doesn't, as they don't get anything from their levels, you have to get all their abilities from enemies. So a level 10 Blue Mage can have 40 spells, and a level 60 one can have 10. It fundamentally breaks the games balancing... which takes us to why Blue Mage isn't talked about at all. Their skill sets don't synergize with each other and therefore your "rotation" is very basic, doesn't have any meters or stacks to keep up with, it's just buff up, shoot your shot, and don't get hit. Combine that with a fairly low damage ceiling and it's just a lot of work for not much payoff.

OMG LARRY TY FOR THIS VIDEO! This is what helped me pick a job when I was thinking of playing FFXIV, and was part of what convinced me to get back into the game.
Good stuff, Larry. Your previous video really helped me getting into the game back around the ShB launch. I'm glad that I have a new beginner's video to use in trying to drag my friends into the game.
Everytime someone asks me about "which jobs should I use?" I first tell them to watch this video, and then proceeds to tell them to try them all and have fun with it. That is how I started to love tanking btw
I'm still a new player (less than a year) and I was terrified of tanking until picking up GNB. I love it so much, it was one of the first jobs I got to 80. It really is the tank that plays like a dps!

Nice video and a good summary of each individual job. Two things to correct though. 1: The Paladins heavy hitting attack than you can use 3 times in a row is Atonement, not Royal Authority. Royal Authority is the regular combo finisher that allows you to use Atonement three times. 2: While the Red Mage has close range Melee attacks, they still actually deal Magical damage, not Physical.

With all the intricate knowledge you have on each job, you should come out with a tier list on how complicated each job is to use so players can have an informed jumping off point from the start and work up to the more difficult ones to play. Thanks for all your work on these videos!
wow i got lucky with the timing on this one, nice
I don’t even play this game but yet I still watched the whole video simply because the narrative was so good.
"And Titan for ehhhh...?"
Finally someone said it
Super happy you did an updated one! I like sharing these with my friends when they get into the game!
2:41 'If I get myself to rock bottom then no one else can put me there'
OMG LARRY TY FOR THIS VIDEO! This is what helped me pick a job when I was thinking of playing FFXIV, and was part of what convinced me to get back into the game.
MCH: haha hypercharge go BRRRRRRRRR
Good stuff, Larry. Your previous video really helped me getting into the game back around the ShB launch. I'm glad that I have a new beginner's video to use in trying to drag my friends into the game.
Everytime someone asks me about "which jobs should I use?" I first tell them to watch this video, and then proceeds to tell them to try them all and have fun with it. That is how I started to love tanking btw
I'm still a new player (less than a year) and I was terrified of tanking until picking up GNB. I love it so much, it was one of the first jobs I got to 80. It really is the tank that plays like a dps!
"You might have to devote an extra brain cell to remember what ninjutsu does what."
Seriously. I love playing as a ninja, but if I play another class for too long, I need to practice each ninjutsu before I dare to into the duty finder.
I literally never moved my mudra binds since lvl50, cuz if I do, it's always rabbit time.
One of the most important ff14 videos of all time. So fun to watch.
ok but where the ENDWALKER edition?
So to this day the original video is one of my top 10 favorites videos on UA-cam. And now there is an updated video sooo I'm hype.
I've actually just started to learn Paladin because I wanted to finish the 4 Cardinal Virtues and honestly I am terrified of being a tank but it hasn't been so bad so far.
Tanking is only terrifying when your healer is dead and/or bad
@@FrostiOrca I''ll keep that in mind since I'm a healer main lol
@Justin B Well it'll be awhile before I reach any of the high end content so hopefully I'll become a great tank by then.
A tank that knows they can trust their healer can feel nearly invincible, because they are. Having that trust is another thing.
I'm terrified as healer. Tank is ok-ish
That was helpful and funny to watch, good work mate. Thank you!
oh hi im one of those ranged ones that doesnt really like the new guy
Your videos actually helped me make sense of so many jobs in this game, I love how you explain things!
Are you gonna do this for jobs in Endwalker.
This is my first time getting into the ff series, amazing informative content, thanks for the humorous addition to everything!
are we gonna get one of these for Endwalker any time soon?
it makes me so happy you did an update 😭 i watched the first one a little too late but it still managed to give me a basic idea of the jobs so thank you
Lol this kind of feels like when you have an assignment due for class and you’re just trying to get through it as fast as possible, and I loved every second of it!
I am loving this new way they break up the video in the timeline. Thank you!
“He uses a big sword. Use this class if you wanna use a big ass sword” hmm, informative LMAO
Thank you for showing what the classes actually look like when played
For all my life, I’ve been Paladin-the big daddy of the party keepin my kids safe. But now... i want a shooty boom-boom class too.
Here I come Gunbreaker.
Well done. As someone looking to start playing FF this was really helpful.
God, I'm worried about the next expansion. They did Shadowbringers so well, that I don't think they can do any better.
4 years later and this video still desribes the jobs perfectly.
ACTUALLY Monk gets a 3rd "I don't need to do positional's" Move :D Riddle of Earth FTW.
Positional? What the dark fuck is that? *spamming edge of shadow*
Just started playing this game and this video helped me choose a class with short and concise breakdowns. No BS, No filler.
You forgot to mention whm's benediction. Probably one of the best reasons to play whm
Also holy stun is op as well
Damn Larry, beat me to it. I wanted to make a video on the jobs as a basic introduction, and you've already made a better one than your last one you did. Always love your style of comedy, even if it's also informative.
" Hit me Hit me I can take it " I swear this makes me think of kevin Hart saying this to The Rock one day 😂
ngl, i came to your channel when i first picked ff14 like two years ago. Picked up paladin, then machinist, then astroluigian. It's all been fun, thanks Larry.
SCH: I'm gonna ignore my healer role and get max DPS
SCH moments later: dead
Its funny because statistically SCH has the worst DPS of all the healers under the current balance. AST has the overall highest DPS even before you take the damage buff from the cards in to effect.
I don't even play it anymore but i always get a chuckle from your vids.
Does it count if I already beat shb with smn?
yes and also good choice
I love how you used the amaurot dungeon theme, literally my favorite theme in the game
please dont just casually play the amarot dungeon theme in the background of the video im having flashbacks
Jesus Christ your first vid got send to me by a friend which got me into ff 14 and now I'm watching this updated version and know like 3/4 of the classes mechanics at the top of my head. Great vid. Keep it up Dragon storm.
Larry, you made a mistake. The only roles in the game are Blue DPS, Red DPS, and Green DPS. Shameful. :
Weight of the world chorus going on the background gave me goosebumps. It's such a great song.
To Red mage: Thank you, handstand hedgehog head white mage.
Meanwhile, blue mage: Amazing when equipped with the full array of skills - able to be a medic, tank, or DPS.... but you can't use it for anything helpful unless you start a cult of blue mages or a pyramid scheme to draw in noobs.
The BLU storyline makes so much sense now!

Quoting the official site:
A so-called mage of rather questionable character claims to have mastered an outlandish form of spellcasting that resembles neither black nor white magic during his voyage to the New World. Allegedly, anyone who purchases one of his soul crystals can learn to mimic the aetherial magicks of wild creatures. But can he be trusted, or is he merely a con artist looking to make a quick gil?
as someone who can have fun with all classes i really appreciate this video youve earned my sub thnx for the commentary
