As always, please post your suggestions for factions below! Also ---- One thing to keep in mind that I forgot to mention. Shock cav and cav in general do not perform based SOLELY on their stats. Their mass and speed comes into play massively when attacking other units. I'll do another video in the future talking about cav in DEI. But I just wanted to throw it out there now because I talk so much about cav in this overview.
The brilliant thing about the Dahae riders is how good they are at demolishing other factions' horse archers. You shouldn't chase after horse archers with your heavy cav, so sending Dahae riders after them is a perfect way to make space for your slower, heavier troops to win the battle. Dahae riders get a good missile block chance with their shields, allowing them to tank a little arrow fire--unlike the archers they're chasing, who will skirmish away and lose any shield bonus. Since they're light, they can catch up to every cavalry skirmisher in the game and pull them into melee. And with a good charge bonus and a bonus against cavalry from their spears, they easily kill any light cavalry unit in the game in melee. They're such a good unit. Highly recommend using Dahae riders in the early game.
I just don't get why they now have only 5 ammo, that makes them a lot less useful. Loved them too, but now I go for dahae nobles, less units but quality is incomparable ^^
Pontus may end up taking the next spot due to your suggestions. Whatever nation has the most suggestions/upvotes I'll end up going for. Might even do a strawpoll in the future if there is enough want for it.
Ardiaei is probably the most difficult faction in vanilla Rome 2. I'm not sure how they fare out in DEI. That would be an interesting one since it is extremely naval/pirate focused.
Interesting point mate! I'll have to check them out in DEI. I imagine it might actually be okay since they have very good shock and armor piercing troops from what I recall. Thanks for watching!
I really like playing on hard but the beginning is always very challenging to me. The mid and late game feels just right. Especially as a single region faction. Ive noticed i either have to bum rush one of my neighbors or build up a full stack army. Usually the only problem is by the time i get it, the ai army usually has a stack and half plus garrison. Chilling in there settlement. I usually bait them out with an ambush or something so i can eventually take it but its usually quite difficult. Once i can supply two armies. It's a steady hill onward. Anyways, I just discovered your channel. Really cool! Glad someones doing overviews on this awesome mod.
Interesting approach mate, I like it! I also like hard difficulty in some respects. But the lack of diplomacy from the ai is such a bummer for me. It is certainly possible once you become super powerful to muscle the ai into non aggro pacts and stuff. But I hate how it often just doesn't take reasonable agreements. I'm playing on Hard in my Parthian campaign right now and diplomacy has almost been non-existent. In my next episode I will get my first trade agreement ever at about 70 turns in :/ Thanks for watching mate!
@@Immersaholic That's crazy. The only way i can get agreements is by joining wars and paying out my ass. I agree, it is kind of annoying. I wish that could be tweaked a little bit. Anyways looking forward to the campaign!
@@TheSentientsix Yeah you really gotta try insanely hard for anything with diplomacy. If diplomacy was slightly better balanced I'd definitely enjoy hard a lot more. Hopefully I can get some diplomacy happening in this campaign, otherwise im probably gone real soon lol

@@arishokqunari1290 Well I did post the whole playthrough online if you wanna see for yourself. @@arishokqunari1290 Thanks mate I hope my vids help you out! If your new I'd definitely suggest doing 1 or 2 basic campaigns on vanilla. Once you get the general handle of things though you can always jump into a easy DeI campaign. Rome is a good start although they are harder than vanilla. Then there are smaller factions with great rosters that aren't too hard like Pergamon, Armenia, and Arche Bosphorus.
The Parthians desperately need a reskin. Their levy house archers are still wearing vanilla Rome 2 purple (historically purple was the most expensive color available).
Oh really? I didn't notice that. I don't think Parthia looks bad per se, but better visuals is always welcome. It takes a lot of effort for the dei team to get the work done so even if we don't get a upgrade for Parthia I'm happy enough as it is.

@@Immersaholic Amazing how quick you replied, i’m flattered. Also i’m sure, since the DEI team specify requests constructive critique, you’d be most qualified to give some suggestions. I see how you categorize your opinion to reduce unwanted hatred just like in your units overviews. I’d for one love to watch a “historically more accurate review” where you kind of squeeze your ideas into the video as “looking at it from this perspective it would make sense if…” “obviously i don’t know how this would affect gameplay but it would feel more dynamic or slow down this and that”. Like, i’d feel the military buildings should give some kind of public order or “crowd control” bonus which reduces negative public order effects or adds a few points to public order, as an example. Also you seem quite keen/intersted in the actual historical value and thus you could even argue alongside this path. At last I think you already brought lots of sunlight on the mod and for me Rome DEI is what total war should do future wise. :) And creative suggestions or reviews on complementary submods, i feel like, would be attractive to a wide audience.
