- You will kick yourself when you realise how easy it is to fix the Oculus Meta Quest 2 Black Screen problem. My screen goes black while I'm playing or when I touch my headset - this is the solution, just take off the vr cover or make a cut in it.

As an alternative fix, you can also just put tape or a sticker over the sensor, but remember to turn your headset off after use.

Why would that work? If the rubber squishing in front of the sensor makes it think it is off, why would tape over it work to keep it on?
@@Thatsmessedupman it's because the screen goes black when light goes to the sensor (when it moves)-tape over the sensor tricks it to think it's always on your head (no light gets in).
What if our sensor is just broken and doesn’t fix from this
I recently broke my charging Port and my Dad fixed it but their isnt anything showing up, Turns on and i cant see my menu or anything i can see my Battery and my fps because i have ovr Tools but its just black.
Absolutely brilliant, solved my problem so easily, I am amazed that the manufacturers didn't realise it and fix it.

OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! My Quest 2 just arrived today and I was so excited to use it but then this happened and I was so scared it was broken. I was trying stuff for like a whole hour. The issue was that my bangs covering the sensor lmao. If it weren't for this video I wouldn't have figured this out thank you :D

Brilliant!! That was the best (and easiest) suggestion which works. I cannot cut mine as it's a foam, but you just need to lift the upper foam a bit higher so it doesn't block the sensor and THAT WORKS!! I was so frustrated thinking I have a faulty Q2. Many thanks. Liked!! 😁😁

Additional help here is amazeballs. I've tried the good ol restart, reset. I went to Meta and they're support site was like, reset,yo. No go.... so what's next? Oh... nothing? I'm now the proud owner of a $300 paperweight? Neat.

My quest 2 had this issue of the display flickering on and off but now it has gone away but the only issue now is that my screen just goes black and when i try turning it on it still displays a black screen. Ive tried factory reseting it and other things but nothing seemed to work. Do you have any idea on how to fix this before I get a replacement?

Same problem with Quest 3 after I added a face gasket, so I took it off and it's working fine again. Thanks for describing the problem and providing a solution that Meta still doesn't seem to know about.

I need help with something else but it’s nowhere to be found so when I play it flickers to tracking mode for like 1-2 seconds then it goes back to the game or it goes black and shows the THREE DOTS for like 1-2 seconds and goes back to the game. How do I fix this

I put my oculus into sleep mode then moved out of my guardian and now it's on a black screen even if I move back into the guardian. Any fixes?

for some random reason the meat meta quest say cant capture movement it was working fine until it died and it was on the charger i tried cleaning the cameras and rebooting but it wont work please tell me whats wrong

My oculus turned to a black screen while playing a game but the tracking light and power light was on and I could turn on the cast and see what’s happening but the charging percentage wont show either

Thanks for this. Mine was doing this. Spoke with oculus or meta as they are now and as usual it’s reset your headset, or let’s reformat it and send it back for a fix. Why are the people at Meta unaware of this simple issue. You should work there mate. 😂😂👍

This is getting me on the right track. I took the whole trim off completely, but the only way I can keep it on, is to put my finger directly on the sensor, which obviously isn't a fix.

omg.. I returned mine and my moms already. They sent my mother's back but still holding onto mine. After setting up my mom's new one, I was frustrated when the black out happened again... Omg! Yup! This exact thing started happening to me once I started using the rubber dam. It was weirding me out, because I'd just wrinkle my nose a little too hard, and the headset would basically turn off.
Not helpful, whenever I take it off (the rubber cover) it still doesn't help and it will still flicker black on my left lenses and if I shake my headset boom it's back but later in my gameplay it happens again, any fix?
That just sounds broken for sure, no electronic device needs a shake or a whack to work if it’s in working order.

Also I figured out your room that you are using the vr in has to have good lighting to figure out if the user is wearing the headset or not

I took mine off and seemed to fix it I’ll cut it and put it back on. I wasn’t having the issue till after I put the rubber ring on. Every time I would look straight up during a game it would black screen itself
ive been having this issue for a bit when i just got my quest 2 rma'ed for battery issues. I never had the silicon cover before but the new one they shipped back had it and had extreme trouble getting the thing to show a screen from booting up. I just took the silicon cover off and it started right away.

I thought you're supposed to take the foam pad out to put on the silicon liner? It wraps around the foam
It wraps around the foam but it still scrunches up in front of the sensor.

You be like the guy saying "hey, hey! You be having an issue? And you been struggling so long? And it frustrates you? Just chill out some, the answer to your problem is sooooo simple, that ya ain't noticing!"
And so me, looking for crazy stuff, factory resetting the headset, like, 10 TIMES!!!! Installing shit on the PC (?), reinstalling apps, playing with the guardian, whatever!!! And having no results! Things were even getting worse! And I be like "... man, the headset is fucking with me! Shit man, cannot be that this thing glitching so much out of nowhere although it worked with no problems out of the box!"
And me fool totally forgot I have peeps like you covering me in such situations. I mean, I didn’t forget, I had the thought of looking it up on the internet, but proud ass me just wanted to prove to myself I could do it alone. But man, was I wrong, need to humble sometimes and ask for help, you know what I am saying?
And so, all this to thank you for your help. You didn't just solve the problem, and made it not come back since I removed that silicone thing (haven't cut it yet), you just made the whole VR experience better, because I can finally continue to just experience it without hassle! So your help, in a sense, has allowed my experience!

When i turn the screen back on all I get is a Gray screen
Been putting up with this for ages. Had no idea about the sensor so thanks for that. I just make sure I push the top part of the vr coverz pleather pad up and out the way when i put on the headset now.

Hmm, I never installed the eye piece. Maybe that sensor needs to be cleaned, ill check it

Well I had no idea what mine was doing, but I watched this and realised there was a sensor on it. I then decided to clean the sensor with glasses cleaner and it works fine again 😶 ( I was playing with it for over a month) so thanks I guess

@@OliBenet you can turn the sensor off? How? I didn't even consider this. I pretty much always hit the power button to manually turn it off when removing the headset, so I would love to know how that's done
