Oculus Quest 2 | black screen | face sensor not working

- Video footage for Oculus Support.
Oculus Quest 2 has not been working for many months.
It has taken me a long time to get this footage sorted as I have been completely unable to charge the headset.
Yesterday I managed to find a charger that will charge the headset and left it charging overnight so I could take this video.
When booted the screen backlight is on, however nothing can be seen but black.
If the Oculus button is pressed then you can see the circular loading icon but nothing else.
A full factory reset has been attempted on many occasions but the Quest boots up into the exact same state after the reset. A reboot after setting up in the app also results in the same issue.
I can connect the Oculus App after a reboot, but if I change any options, like connect to WiFi or enable developer mode for example, this is forgotten after a reboot of the headset.
The headset will not charge with most of the chargers I have available, even though those exact same chargers work on my other devices, and same chargers will work on other Oculus Quest 2 and Oculus Quest 1 headsets.
The headset charging light goes green when the headset reaches 53% and the headset will never reach a charge higher than that no matter how long I leave it charging - even for days.
I actually made this video in order to send to oculus support to describe the issue. As a result of my support ticket they offered me a replacement. However they messaged to apologise they had no stock and after waiting a month or so finally sent me an RMA to return the headset.
A few weeks later and I received a brand new headset in the post.
I was so frustrated by the black screen of death for the longest time. Thanks! My question to Oculus "Why did you put such a finnicky device to turn off the Oculus?!"
its probably because the third party layer face sensor is not working, mine is not working we got it to work before that tho but we accidentally ripped it off and it didnt work so its probably that
Hey man had the exact same thing and still have...but I've fixed it 1 time by taking the cover off and on... and it worked. But its gone back to that state and its so frustrating. I feel you stress and I'm trying to find a fix to. Pls update if you found a better one 🙏
Man I worked for 8 months to save up for that thing, oculus won't allow return, considering smashing it on the floor
@@mclushy1 Same,. I got so involved in the vr, spent more than the vr costs in games and currrency, ect
Thank you
same happend to me. Im getting a replacement headset
Okay so the y the hell is mine on still no noise just the black screen I have tried this Jack shit happens
Same here any luck?
Mine just started doing this, I think it's sweat getting down into the proximity sensor and killing it, and you have this issue until the sensor is replaced by oculus or your given a refurbished one.
how do you get a new one?
Exact same problem here came to the exact same conclusion but still no fix I have been able to find I have tried turning off the proximity sensor using side quest but the oculus doesn't connect to pcs until it is in the main menu, which the black screen of death does not allow you to reach so I do not think there is any actual fix for it unless you replace the entire proximity sensor.
Same here i have to get my entire sensor replaced
@@ballszy5583 i fixed it
@@clchristiancl how
How do you fix this issue bc we're trying everything recommended and it's still not working...
@@scottcorner1714 alright heres what I did. you have this issue because the sensor in the middle of your headset is broken. This sensor is disigned to check if something is in front of it, and if not, it turns the headset off. Sence it is broken the headset turns off after around 5 seconds. What i did is contact Meta Customer Support and asked for a replacement and in around a week and a half meta had sent me a replacement headset for free other than shipping. I highly recommend this method if all else isn't working.
Yeah my head set dose the same thing 😭
Same thing dude exept mine fosent cencor anymore
I solved this problem for I while after disable proximity sensor using sidequest. But I had to do this every time I turn the oculus on. But now I cannot do it anymore, the black screen happens before enter home screen, so I cannot give permission for sidequest. Anyone having the same problem?
yes i cant even turn it on and i hit my headset my mom said to do it to turn it back on and i may have get a new oculus the screen does not go back on the left
:(
I just bought a new sensor off of ebay for cheap and it worked lol. Its only 6 tiny T2 torx screws and unclip the cable and clamp the new one in.. EZ!
@@ghost_m3pdo you have the link of the product?
I had that same problem
Got the same problem, did you manage to fix it?
i fixed it
@@clchristiancl Mine couldn't be fixed. They had it for about 8 weeks, then sent me a refurbished one.
@@clchristianclhowww😢
Do you have to do a factory reset?
Wont help
It just say i need a code when i try to Connect
Just press your oculus button twice on the right hand controller. That code is just to pair your headset to your phone
GUYS DONT USE THE USBC FAST CHARGER USE ANOTHER OLDER ONE AND IT WILL TURN ON
What is that
The usb c is the one that it comes with
Guys the little thing in the oculus between the two little eye things block that with tape
You meant he lens
The*
That doesn’t help, if you were to watch the video, he put his finger over the sensor and it still turned off, no matter what you do the sensor the headset will always turn off.
Didn't work.
Normal clear tape?
Not helpful
i fixed it
